Insurance Carrier: Blue Cross Blue Shield Of Tennessee

Consumer Complaint:

On 4/24/08 I had a uterine ablation at my doctor's office in Decatur, Illinois. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee won't pay their portion of the bill because they say it has to go under medical review. They have requested my medical records 3 times from my doctor. My doctor's office has sent my entire file and they are still requesting information. They also told me I was supposed to have taken hormone replacement therapy for three months which I did not want to do.


Insurance Expert Answer:

Keep on fighting. Make notes of every phone call, including who you spoke to and what they said, and follow up with letters. Ask your doctor to send letters in support and explain why their recommended course was contra-indicated.
