Question 8 of 9 in How Much Do I Need? |
Do policies charge different rates based on gender? Geographic location? |
 |
Statistics show that women live longer and tend to have more disabilities, so rates for women are generally higher.
While geographic area is not a major determinant of disability risk, it does have some effect. For example, if you live in an area of extreme weather conditions, or a remote area where there are few doctors and hospitals, you may pay somewhat higher premiums. If you live outside the United States and Canada, there may be difficulty getting disability coverage from U.S. companies. Check with the insurance company to be certain what is available. |
