Question 9 of 13 in Group Or Employer Policies?

A downside of our employer's disability plan is that an employee loses coverage when he/she quits or loses the job. Will the employee then qualify to buy individual coverage?

Your plan may include a provision for converting the group coverage to an individual plan. Check with your employer's insurance advisor.

If your health is good and you are concerned about being dependent on an employer's disability plan, you could also apply for an individual plan after you find a new job.
