Company Information Company History: The name goes back to GEICO’s first customers in 1936 who were government employees and Military personnel. Founder Leo Goodwin went into business determined that he could deliver automobile insurance at reduced prices by selecting prime customer groups and marketing directly to them. Goodwin succeeded in driving down operating costs and passed on the savings to policyholders up front as discounts. GEICO continues to find ways to manage its business costs in order to offer savings to customers today.

Comments "Geico treated me very fairly when my sons were involved in an accident, one driving and one a passenger. Both were teenagers. My rate did not go up. During the time we were filing claims on the accident. A Geico rep called and asked if we were sending in all of the medical costs for the passenger son. She said that it was less than they had expected. He had received minor injuries and we had submitted everything. The Geico rep wanted to make sure that we were submitting everything that we were due. This impressed me with Geico. "My husband and I have had auto insurance with this company for about two years. Customer Service is very friendly. We had a difficult time financialy and our coverage lapsed due to non payment for a week. Customer Service was very understanding and helped me to get back on track. They even said they were sorry for leaving me on hold for short periods of the time. The Customer Service rep explained to me the next payment date and told me why I had that amount due. "Had 2 accidents over past 3 years - one at-fault, and one not-at-fault. Geico settled quickly in both. In second, they contacted the other insurance company (mercury), and got my claim filed etc. quickly. I am very satisfied with the way they handled things." 2009-06-08 14:13:03 EST
