Company Information Company History: The name goes back to GEICO’s first customers in 1936 who were government employees and Military personnel. Founder Leo Goodwin went into business determined that he could deliver automobile insurance at reduced prices by selecting prime customer groups and marketing directly to them. Goodwin succeeded in driving down operating costs and passed on the savings to policyholders up front as discounts. GEICO continues to find ways to manage its business costs in order to offer savings to customers today.

Comments "My car was rear-ended by a GEICO policy holder in Nov 2007. It is now close to 8 months later and I still do not have a settlement from GEICO. They will not repair the vehicle, their offer is barely 1/2 of what the car is worth, they lie, they delay, they are extremely rude, and basically act like a 3yr old crying in a sandbox when you provide data that refutes theirs.
you can be assured that GEICO will never see my business, nor the business of any of my family, in the future. and if any other area of my spending comes down to a choice between a warren buffett company and a non warren buffett company, i am going with the one not associated with him." 2008-06-19 10:12:07 EST
"All the ads say upto 500 less than others. I could understand that should be less between 0 to 500. But every other company I spoke to gave a better rate than this ghekko. Agreed my credit score is not in the higher 600s but is that a reason to jack up my rate???? What does that have to do with my driving??? And when I got insurance from them, they robbed me in daylight, when I got a better deal and left they constantly send "Baby, Come Back" mails. I don't understand these guys." 2008-06-17 16:29:04 EST
