Comments "They allowed me $210 on a $850 medical bill.
They paid the $210 seven months after the claim. The check they sent me bounced. It was there error. I then had to wait 6-8 weeks for them to issue me a new check (That is their policy!) They finally sent me a check that is good but refused to pay the bank fee for the returned check. (That is not their policy!) Isn't it an amazing story and so true to the way they function." 2008-09-24 10:18:22 EST
"Coverage for prescription medicine has been reduced or eliminated altogether (clarinex); they now charge an annual fee ($100) for the prescription program in addition to the per prescription cost. You can be sure that the annual carrying fee will be increased.
They would not cover my colonoscopy until we were in their program for one year because they claimed I had a "pre-existing condition" (benign polyps) so I had to delay that routine, preventive test. Isn't that what healthcare companies promote in order to prevent more serious, expensive treatment?
Finally, two of my doctors are very dissatisfied with Oxford, and my primary care physician is dropping them. " 2008-06-30 12:11:46 EST
"My husband was presribed pain med before and after back surgery. High doses of oxycontin, oxycodone etc. Oxford paid for the pain meds, but will not pay for inpatient drug rehab- which he now needs. After admitting he has a problem and seeing an addiction therapist, who determined he definately needed INPATIENT rehab- Oxford denied the claim. He had admitted he was also using heroin. Oxford feels outpatient is enough. Even after we explained all the pityfull truths. We are now in apealing their decision." 2008-03-13 14:47:15 EST
"My mother is sick with bone cancer, that originally was breast cancer. Now she is in alot of pain, not only from the cancer, but she recently fell and broke a bone. So far Oxford has been making it almost impossible to get the pain mediction that her doctors pre-scribe to her. Now, why does the insurance company make it so difficult to give my mother the medication she needs to get through this difficult time in our lives. They act as if they,(oxford),are the doctors, by not covering the doctor pre-scribed medication she needs for this horrible feeling of being eaten away by cancer. What kind of insurance company would let a human being suffer like this." 2007-10-31 12:03:16 EST
