Comments "They have been raising rates 20% a year and I am tired of it. There is no just cause, or any cause at all according to their story." 2008-06-03 13:58:26 EST
"In 2005 I bought a new car. Before buying I checked with a Pemco service representative and was told my rates would not increase with the model I was buying. On my 2006 renewal, there was an over 12% increase on my policy despite the fact that I have never had an accident or ticket. I was told that because I took out an auto loan to buy the car that I had been bumped into a higher risk category according to their "insurance score" formula. I asked what determined the "insurance score" so I could know how better to avoid future increases and was told that it was a proprietary formula and they could not let me know what factors went into it. Despite being furious at this explanation, I decided to stay with Pemco.
I have just received my 2008 renewal and (still no tickets or accidents) I am being hit with an over 19% increase -- this just 2 years after another HUGE increase. I called customer service and was told that the entire "insurance score" program had been dropped because customers were complaining about it too much and that everyone's rates would be going up this year. Apparently, the more trustworthy your credit history is, the bigger your rate increase will be since you are losing a big discount. Nice job, Pemco. Instead of fixing the a poorly executed program you just turned it into a way to justify a gigantic rate increase.
I have been with Pemco for 16 years, but I think that is about to change." 2008-05-16 19:42:11 EST
