"Very competitive rates, courteous phone reps."
2007-01-23 15:20:32 EST

"We pay more for Amica because of our happiness with the way that treat you when you file a claim. "
2007-01-18 12:33:50 EST

"I HAD A CAR ACCIDENT WHERE BOTH PARTIES WHERE FOUND AT FAULT AND AMICA SAID I HAD FULL COVERAGE BUT THEY ARE A BUNCH OF LIERS COZ THEY MADE ME PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR 20% OF THE DAMAGES ON TOP OF MY DEDUCTIBLE I WILL NEVER RENEW MY POLICY WITH THEM THEY ARE GARBAGE AND THEIR REPS ARE RUDE "
2007-11-20 15:43:13 EST

"Extremely prompt claim settlement. Agents have been great customer advocates --- asked questions to be sure I was getting full coverage for my claim."
2007-04-12 13:38:22 EST

"The agents are very helpfull and its being a pleasure to be a Amica customer.I am very satisfied with the preminum which they have offered me for my car insurance."
2007-05-31 14:23:13 EST

"Amica is responsive, and fair. The premiums may not be the cheapest, but not the most expensive either. I like the fact that when they say they will follow up, they do so without having me calling back to prompt them. I highly recommend them to anyone."
2007-07-05 19:14:04 EST

"Amica has been a great insurer. I have had no problems with them, whatsoever and appreciate the professional handling of my inquiries and my claims. I am just sorry that my son cannot remain on their policies due to his driving record (before even 18)..but that is understandable."
2007-08-08 02:15:26 EST

"A deer ran into the car. Premiums went up."
2007-08-08 12:49:13 EST

"My only gripe is that Amica takes its jolly good time in processing premium payments. Even when my bank does an overnight payment it takes Amica four days to credit my account. Don't they know we are in the 21st century?"
2007-08-15 11:26:09 EST

"i receivied more help from the other's driver's insurance company, The one i filed the claim againest"
2007-08-28 17:08:22 EST

"Amica is somewhat difficult to deal with- can't understand why they're at the top of the JD Power ratings..they ask seemingly a thousand questions when starting coverage, price is competitive, but not lowest, & they want to over-insure houses (over-value the structure, undervalue the lot)..I'm looking elsewhere now..though much they're higher on my list than allstate, liberty mutual or farmers."
2007-09-10 13:43:07 EST

"Very good customer service. Their rates were less than half of what I used to pay with another auto insurance carrier."
2007-09-12 20:52:58 EST

"Absolutely second to none customer service. One rep said, "We do not want to be the biggest, just the best" and that, they are! "
2007-09-16 19:14:16 EST

"They increased my rate once i filed a claim. Also they increased the rate very much because Katrina and I live in the North."
2007-09-26 15:59:37 EST

"POINT BLANK. BEST INSURANCE COMPANY THAT I HAVE COME ACROSS. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. GREAT RATES. COULD NOT ASK FOR MORE."
2007-09-28 19:56:26 EST

"After being told that i would not be charged a premium surcharge for filing a claim on my home owners insurance, AMICA charged me anyway. I was told the laws had changed in MA and even though my claim was several years ago, they can and did charge me retroactively, even though they told me they wouldn't at the time of the claim (I asked specifically about this). The surcharge will cost me thousands of $ more than the actual claim paid out."
2007-10-05 16:38:17 EST

"I have used Amica for over 30 years and have been extremely satisfied. They have always been prompt and fair."
2007-10-18 17:43:09 EST

"I've had my auto and homeowners with Amica for 10 plus years. I always get a friendly, knowledgeable person on the phone who seems genuinely interested in helping me (both with filing a claim and making a change to my policy). When talking with friends, they always seem to have some horror story on their insurance company. I never have anything but great things to say about Amica. "
2007-10-14 22:49:56 EST

"Have insured with AMICA for over 25 years, have found them unfailingly helpful in (mercifully rare) instances when I have had to file claims, pleasant to deal with when I have had questions, efficient when I needed to transfer coverage from NC to MA and to change some types of policies to reflect changing needs/situation. "
2007-12-03 12:56:36 EST

"My agent left the company. I called three weeks after she left and was told she was out or not available. Today I pushed the issue and insisted they at least connect me to her voice mail. Then they told me she was no longer there. I asked when they were going to tell me and they acted like it didn't matter then they transfered me to a voice mail where a male voice aske me to leave a message but he didn't say who he was. I left my name and my concern. Not how I would do businees. "
2007-12-17 18:37:05 EST

"I filed a claim with Amica. My wife and I had hit a deer. They realized that we were out in the middle of nowhere and were basically "stranded". Chain of events: Hit deer on Monday morning - adjuster out to body shop on Monday evening - repairs authorized on Tuesday. Keep in mind, this was in the middle of Montana - over one hundred miles to the closest major city. They worked fast and their customer service was top notch. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !!!"

"I recently suffered two spinal injuries in an auto accident where I needed to have two separate spinal surgeries with titanium plates implanted. I have nerve damage in my left leg leaving me permanently disabled. I put an under-insured claim in with Amica, my own insurance company. They hired a "high-priced" insurance attorney because I had a million dollar insurance coverage. Due to my large insurance coverage, my own insurance company, Amica, fought me tooth and nail until they finally won the claim. I ended up only receiving 5% of my total coverage for all of my pain, suffering, surgeries, and permanent disabilities. They also refused to pay my lost wages which were included in my insurance claim. I have been paying my premiums all along but when it comes to collecting from Amica, they will fight it until their own client loses his suit. I am very dissatisfied with Amica as they did not even stand by their own client trying to settle the case fairly. If I could do things over again, I would NEVER have chosen Amica as MY insurance company. They collected and cashed all of my premium checks but refused to offer me any compensation when it came to settling my legitimate claim. I hope that everyone who reads this will think twice before signing up with Amica. I only wish that someone else warned me that I am not in "good hands with Amica." "

"I got into an accident and my car was claimed a total loss. It's been a month and my claim has not been settled. I've called my claims adjuster and she ignores my calls and has left me hanging. It's frustating to have recieved such poor customer service."
2008-01-06 17:30:47 EST

"Upon selling me a policy, my sales rep moved away and nobody contacted me to let me know. I only found out six months later when I called the 800 number with a policy question. Also, one month the check for my payment was not received. Nobody called me; Amica simply cancelled all my policies and sent me ONE letter in the mail to let me know (I was reinstated, but drove without insurance for several weeks). Amica's coverage for personal property, such as jewelry, is very low ($1500, and this is their "premium" policy). Prepare to pay through the nose to have everything you own scheduled separately...what is the point of this insurance, since their exclusions include so many items average people are likely to own (cameras, artwork, jewelry)?"
2008-01-15 16:48:04 EST

"Have been an auto insurance most of the last 20 years since the rates have been on the lower end of the scale (RI, CT, and CA). I've relied on them less for home insurance."
2008-01-21 21:41:07 EST

"Straight forward. No hassles. Very fair. Very fast response to claims. 40 years with AMICA. Sons also over 20 years and have also had extremely good results on claims such as hurricane ($30,000), tornado ($70,000) and water leak damage of $80,000 plus two auto accidents over last 20 years."
2008-02-18 00:41:34 EST

"Will consider Amica for a whole Life Insurance Policy."
2008-02-20 11:09:06 EST

"This company is the cream of the crop!!! I feel very confident that they would be there for me in the event of a claim."
2008-03-13 12:29:37 EST

"As a trial laywer, I sue insurance companies for bad faith as a major part of my law practice. I have been with Amica for over twenty-five years. If all insurance companies ran like Amica, I'd have to sell my plane."
2008-03-18 11:59:40 EST

"My boyfriend backed my brand new month old 2007 SUV into a cement pole. Amica came to my home while I was at work and assessed the damage. When the body shop realized it would be more money then Amica had authorized, they handled it directly with the body shop. No hassle for me! I picked my car up a few weeks later and was told it was all taken care of. Even more, the check went directly to the body shop, I didn't have any hassle having to deposit it and write a seperate check! Simply the best."
2008-03-27 09:11:38 EST

"We never had a claim, only paid the premium and our rates went up 41% from 2007 to 2008."
2008-04-02 13:06:16 EST

"we didnt know what to do, but with the friendly claims people,we made it thur. we will always stay with amica."
2008-04-11 16:31:03 EST

"you get what you pay for!!"
2008-04-13 11:00:10 EST

"We had hail damage to our roof (but no leaks) a few years ago. We didn't notice the damage, but our carpenter did several months after the event. We notified AMICA, they sent out a claims agent right away, and promptly sent us a check to cover the repair. The check amount was actually more than the repair cost, but when I contacted AMICA to inform them of this, I was told that it didn't matter, and we pocketed the difference. A great company. I've compared other policies, and AMICA has consistently provided us a very good rate. When I've received lower quotes, they've been from companies with poor customer satisfaction, according to this site."
2008-04-15 21:20:02 EST

"I've been told that if I buy a trampoline for my kids, Amica will cancel or not renew my policy. That seems unreasonable to me, and I don't like saying no to my kids, especially when the trampoline will be in use for only a few years. Isn't home owners insurance there to back up our lives, not control them?"
2008-04-15 21:26:00 EST

"Amica is for sure one of the more expensive companies out there. I have only had to use them once in 30 years and there was no issue. No rate increase. They seem to be pleasant over the phone as well. I wish they insured motorcycles and boats but they usually tell you to go to Progressive."
2008-04-16 14:15:53 EST

"I started the policy in 2000. At that time, I was under the age of 25 and my premiums were very high despite my excellent driving record. Amica gave me the lowest price for my age and so they earned my business. Nearly ten years later, I am still with them. I've had one claim due to vandalism while visiting friends out of town. It was handled exceptionally quickly and repairs were done by the best, not the cheapest. Amica is tops in my book! I only wish they offered health insurance..."
2008-04-18 10:39:53 EST

"The inspectors take 7-10 days to appear. That is ridiculous. Then the claim is grossly underestimated. We have been without a vehicle for up to 5 weeks. There is contention each step of the way. We have been hit while parked, no moving accidents, no one hurt. I can only imagine what a claim for personal injury would be like with Amica. "
2008-04-21 16:57:30 EST

"My car was totalled. I had to fight with amica for them to give me the fair market value for my car. It took 35 days to settle. in the end, they wanted 'proof' that my car was worth mor than they offered. I sent 11 pages of auto ads to prove to them that they were low balling the figure. In the end, they came up $1500. Also, because it took so long to settle, the car rental coverage ran out.I asked Amica to call Farmers and have farmers pay for the extra week. Laura at Amica told me that that was my problem and I would have to contact Farmers. Isn't this WHAT I PAY AMICA TO DO???? 35 days of headache.35 days of TRYING to find a replacement car for the pittance that they originally offered me. I really had to fight for a fair settlement. considering all the money I have paid over the last 15 years, with no prior claims, I would have thought Amica would have been a bit more ..ethical. There were several other custoer service issues too, but that's all in the 35 days worht of documentation that is filed away. keep looking, bypass Amica."
2008-04-23 23:25:43 EST

"In areas of the country where Amica has a "presence", they are an outstanding value for homeowners because they give rebates and will provide 100% replacement cost. We didn't have any damage, but my wife had her purse with electronics, jewelry, etc. stolen on public transportation which was covered under our homeowners policy. The claim was not outrageously expensive and of course they had to ask a lot of questions & surcharge our policy a little afterwards, but they were very understanding and helpful during the whole process. On the other hand, we own a vacation house about 150 miles away that is a mile from any kind of water and not in a flood plain, but because of the paranoia in the insurance industry after Katrina, they charged us as if the property was on the waterfront. After the first year, we switched insurance on that property to another company more familiar with the area & they charged us approximately 60% less for the same coverage. So, although I think Amica is an extremely good company with very good customer service, if their underwriters are not familiar with the area your property is in, you will pay through the nose, so you really should shop around. But if their rate is competitive, go with them as they are honest and responsive. "
2008-04-29 19:13:32 EST

"Excellent service. Reasonable rates."
2008-05-09 20:44:51 EST

"Seems expensive - especially car insurance for teenaged drivers."
2008-06-02 16:13:16 EST

"What a great company.I have no problems. They have really great rates and they let you make 10 monthly payments for your policies."
2008-06-06 08:24:39 EST

"We've been with AMICA for over twenty years and have found their service to be exceptional. However, their premiums have increased over the years to the point where other alternatives look much better. Hate to leave them, but Liberty Mutual, here we come..."
2008-06-12 09:33:51 EST

"your on line payment system is horrible. You cannot access it. This can cause pmts to be late. "
2008-06-13 18:43:08 EST

"We are the subject of an open claim, which at present is entering it's seventh month. Mostly, the local office is not helpful in solving problems and offering information and assistance. It's riddled with stupidity and corruption too. 1. The Branch Manager, serving as our Adjustor, directly ordered a Vendor to sand a pre-finished floor that resulted in it's receiving a seven inch by five inch gash down to the plywood. The Vendor had 25 years of experience, and KNEW that our floor would be damaged...his defense was that he was "ordered to" sand the floor to repair it. This information was revealed by a local office employee, IN FRONT OF WITNESSES ! 2. The first adjustor or record was a trainee, who in the course of their work, falsified documentary photographic evidence of our initial claim. This same adjustor had NO evidence of our Claim, at all, as a part of our claim file ! 3. The same branch manager, above, admitted to me that a Vendor did work on his mother's home. Alone this is innocent, but when the same Vendor destroyed our kitchen floor, it takes on sinister tones...at least to me, when the office staff is hypnotized by the Vendor, into taking their side in the resulting dispute. 4. During a time when we lost use of our kitchen and basement where our clothing washer/dryer was, the adjustor didnt care to tell us that we were eligible for Loss of Use coverage, to cover meals and cleaning costs. We had to go to the home office to find that out, and the home office emailed the adjustor to tell us. YES, overall they have a good policy but our local office is a NIGHTMARE, full of, seemingly, malicious non-helpful people. JD Powers would Croak if they heard the details of our "experience". "
2008-06-21 08:20:56 EST

"Whenever there has been a need to file a claim with this company they have been so easy to deal with. They never hassle you or make it difficlut to collect a payment. We have been extremely satisfied. One of the best companies to be insured with. I live in Florida and THEY CALL ME after a hurricane to see if we are alright and if we have any damage!!! It's UNBELIEVEABLE.Highly recommend"
2008-06-23 10:48:10 EST

"I made a big mistake staying with military-affiliated insurance for homeowners. AMICA is far superior...the cost is greater, but the price is worth it. "
2008-06-23 11:20:40 EST

"Amica violated The Law by not telling me how much they were charging extra as a premium for a claim with another company. They were cited by The Colorado Insurance Commissioner for not revealing their $ amounts. When they did they were way over what they originally quoted to me. I will see these people in court. They cannot be trusted as a Company. Their ethic is take all we can get without a word!"
2008-07-14 01:51:37 EST

"Changed recently from renters to home owner and they were very easy to deal with appreciated the fact that I had renters with them for several years and no claims; gave me a very competitive quote. Since I have never had a claim I cannot comment on that aspect, which really is key."
2008-07-14 12:21:41 EST

"I've insured both home and autos with AMICA for 40+ years. I've had to file claims on both policies. During this entire time, they have been fast to respond, processed claims extremely fairly, as inexpensive as one can find for excellent service, and very friendly and helpful. They are one of the best companies I've ever encountered."
2008-07-23 11:41:51 EST

"Amica is great!! I've had two claims since I've been with them. One was my fault, the other was not, but the other driver was not insured. Both claims were handled quickly. No problems what so ever with either one."
2008-08-12 14:46:11 EST

"They refused to process my claim after giving me the wrong information regarding my policy. The told me had collision when I didn't have it. On other occasions, they didn't return numerous calls to them."
2008-07-31 15:10:38 EST

"I do not find that they follow up in a timely manner. I have called and the average time for me to have my call returned is one to two weeks. The local agent is not very customer oriented and the impression that I get is that she could care less wheather I am a customer or not. Would not recomend and likely to change."
2008-08-03 13:43:15 EST

"Cheap isnt always the best. I switched to amica because of their "good" rates and they were highly reccomended. I was hit by an under insured motorist in early july! It was well over a month before my car was repaired, which is fine, considering the damage. But when amica agrees to send payment within 24 hours of completion and doesn't.. then who's the liar? (read the pamplet it clearly states it) When you call the claims office to find out whats going on, you are sent in the black hole of voice mail. i left several messeges for the person i was to be speaking with and never once recieved a phone call back. finally talked with some random person who couldnt tell me anything because that's not their department... i had been given the run around for 5 weeks and nothing had been settled yet.--- and my car was REPAIRED!!! If Customer satisfaction is what got them the highest ranking with J D Powers, what a croc. "
2008-08-19 11:18:01 EST

"Excellent Company. Fair and Fast"
2008-08-11 17:25:35 EST

"Amica is very thorough in assuring that you have the correct coverage. I've always found them to be informative, not just advocates of more products. It's easy to reach them on the phone. Web interactivity is good too. I don't have to deal with paper, but once a year."
2008-08-22 10:53:03 EST

"Always been very Satisfied. "
