"This is a company that I have had insurance with only a short time, but they saved me over 1200.00 a year on car insurance. I had no citations, and a good driving record and no one but Response rewarded me for my good driving.

"In September, a 6 month insurance policy was written and paid for $395.92. Now in December, they want an additional $902.00, because the policy was reviewed and they made changes...No where on my declarations page was anything changed but the cost!!!!" 2007-12-14 18:05:03 EST

"Their automatic payment from my checking account fluctuated so much each month that I never new when they were going to withdraw my payment. It came so early one month that I didn't have the funds to cover it so they dropped my coverage. Then, they didn't notify me to 4-days after my policy was cancelled. "I was quoted one rate for the policy, and provided them with all the informations that they asked for. They called my phone and my sister answered the phone. They called me and said that I was lying and that my sister who is grown and lives in another state lives with me and that I needed to add her to my policy. I refused and then they sent me a letter asking for my sister's address, driver's license number, and a copy of her current insurance. The customer service agent was rude and stated that I would not have this problem if I just give him what he asked for. I am looking for a drama free insurance company, I don't need the hassle and multiple letters throughout the month. Response insurance gets a big thumbs down from me." 2008-06-04 12:57:21 EST

"Ridiculously cheap. I tried with another popular online insurance and was quoted outrageous amounts. I saved about $1000 by using these guys. I do agree that they have very strict rules and regulations, but they greatly award you for good credit and clean driving record. "Gave me the run around because my son uses my address for his mail. He travels for his work and they cancelled my policy because they said he lives with us. Not a very trusting company. "I took a chance with these people and it started out well, the people were nice and helpful, but then it seemed like I got a letter every 2 weeks asking for some obscure infirmation or changing the policy/pricing. I got very little help clearing this up so at the end of the 6 month policy I told them I would not renew. However at the end they chose to renew on thier own for 2 weeks, they then sent me a cancellation notice and a bill. I called and sent them a fax, showing my decleration page from my new policy showing I was covered. I was told it would be taken care of, and they did...they sent it to a collection agency. Now I'm spending more of my time clearing this up. Good luck to the rest of you, but I'll stay with my big company with a local agent...I saved money and I've got someone face to face if there is a problem! " 2008-10-10 17:58:42 EST
"I recently submitted a claim due to vandalism. The damage was over $4200.00. Response wants to charge me a betterment on my whole vehicle. I agree that some parts of my vehicle (top and hood) would be better because of the paint being slightly dull, however all other areas of my vehicle were nice and shiny. The insurance company has only given me $2800.00 towards the damage and I have a $250.00 deductible. This is totally unfair. When I had Allstate, my daughter ran into a fence, my whole vehicle (older than the one currently damaged) had to be repainted and I was never charged a betterment." 2008-10-30 09:24:31 EST
"Beware! Response insurance is a great deal until you need them. They are absolutely out of compliance with Texas Insurance laws, and I have a pending complaint through the Texas Department of Insurance and advice from another claims adjuster to file a bad faith lawsuit against them. They would not pay on a claim made against my daughter because her father (my ex) bought her a truck and the title is not in her (a minor's) name. They did NOT send anyone to investigate her collision, which is not possibly her fault. They refuse to pay the claim made by the other party, refuse to investigate, return my calls, or deal with the situation. They have tried to back-date the policy and drop her vehicle without notification (against Texas law) to cover their butts. I predict they will not continue to be allowed to offer coverage in Texas for long. They are cheap, but not worth it." 2008-11-29 16:20:52 EST
"Was lured into the trap by rates. 50 + years of driving without an accident, then after my first, I'm told my car is totaled. Lady I dealt with concerning the claim was RUDE to me, owner of Lincoln dealership and his body shop manager. Adjuster missed several options and undervalued the car by about $3,000.00. They have revised [after being shown]the estimate, but still want to total. WHEN I get through with this deal, I'll go out of my way to tell everyone to avoid them like the plaque. "Customer service was poor as the agents just could not get my information on my cars entered correctly. After three days of calling and trying to get them to call me back, I finally got a management person who got all of my information corrected.
Response has good rates, but the customer service needs a vast improvement to get the customers information right the first time. I have never filed a claim, but based on my renewal experience, I would bet the claims experience would be sub-par.

"Started out with great rates rates way cheaper then anyone else. When it came time to renew the rate went up $200 then more then $300 the next time. So now they are way more expensive then anyone else. In this time I have no claims, no tickets and even my credit score went up. If anything the claim should have dropped I had claims before I went switched to response. So within a year I am having to switch again to another insurance. My advice is if you go with them get quotes again when it is time to renew.

"I missed one payment (b/c I pay bills online and the payment never went through) and they dropped my insurance w/out notification beforehand! I had been a loyal customer for 10+ years and had never missed a payment, they told me that this did not matter to them...that they have known people to purposely not pay just to get the insurance cards...they did not care about 10+ years of loyalty. "Everyone that I have dealt with has acted prpfessionally and courteously. My claim was due to my negligence and although my rates increased I believe the charges were in line with the expenses they incurred.
I am somewhat concerned regarding their acciquisition by Unitrin, and I will xompare rates prior to my next renewal, but they would have to increase substantially before any of the so-called "top 20" would be competitive. Since I have had none of the issues that I read about related to botched claims and rudeness, I must question the veracity of those authors in light of my own experience.

"Response insurance has increased my auto insurnace by nearly $600 a year. Their excuse is "Florida raised the rates".
I have been with this company for more than ten years. I have never filed a claim or have any moving violations. My credit score is in the excellent range.
The excuse "Florida raised the rates" was bogus and a flat out lie as Response requested the increase. I will be firing response as my auto insurance due to their lie. Response insurance can find some other excellent customer to rip off as I will NEVER use this company again!

"I would not call them the cheapest, the premiums are lower comparing to others, but keep increasing with every renewal (+5%). Filed a claim once, it was handled promply without any delays. They directed me to their own repair shop though.
