"Assurant Health is the most incompetent company I have ever dealt with in my life. They have customer service skills that are non existant. They have stolen from me and lied to me and placed work over the 4 months. I will never recomend them to anyone. Even if they were the only company to offer a water cooler in a desert that you would die if you couldn't drink from their cooler. I will make the promise that my lifetime goal will be to inform everybody that I can of their lack of any ability to do anything correctly. I hope and pray that no other living person ever has to rely on Assurant Health for anything, including whoever my worst enemy is. This has grossly been the worst experiance in my 36 year life. God Bless everyone and please for your integrety and sanity use anyone except Assurant Health for anything." 2007-08-16 02:13:17 EST
"No problems. Customer service was right on target and claims paying was effecient as a presentation of the benefit card. I look forward to the healthy discount upon renewal instead of the 25% increase I suffered with my prior carrier that made me so Blue and Cross!" 2007-08-22 22:40:26 EST
"There is NO customer service in their automated phone system where the automated voice recognition treats you like and idiot. Then when you get a real person on the phone, It's a low paid. preprogrammed individual that treats you like the automated system did. They're not interested in your specific probem, they're just instered in some pre-programmed slot they can direct you to. Of course you end up with a voice mail who never calls you back. Count on anything you submit to be denied and noone to tell you why. Stay as far away from these people as possible. No insurance is better than having a policy with them. The end result is the same and you save the premium cost. No kidding they're the worst." 2007-08-23 16:04:00 EST
"This is the only honest company left that cares about the buyer. they don't outsource their claims like some other companies...come on India? unreal! Admitted Reasonable and Cutomary used to be a problem but they have fixed that and truly showed they cared about my opinion and business. they even reduced my renewal rate at my request!" 2007-08-30 16:16:59 EST
"Assurant (now Time) is pretty painless as insurance companies go. Customer service is no worse than any other insurance company (and I've tried many over the years) I am looking around but that is due to rate increases, not service/performance." 2007-11-05 21:39:57 EST
"they denied my claims because THEY beielved that my condition was preexisting. Assurant Health is the biggets fraud in the business today." 2007-11-07 22:29:54 EST
"Assurant is pretty much like the other companies out there providing individual coverage - no better, no worse - the premiums are pretty high considering I've never had a claim. This would be better sold as a "Catastrophic Illness" policy rather than as "Health Policy" because it would not be cost effective for everyday usage as a health/wellness policy." 2007-12-04 12:43:06 EST
"For blood pressure meds, I can only purchase a 30 day supply, which costs over $10 and goes toward my deductible (HSA plan with high deductible);at the sam time I can purchase a 90 day supply for the same price, but it doesn't go toward deductible. Had a pre-existing injury, no problem in accepting their rider clause. Injured the same foot, but different area, they applied the ER claim towards deductible, now 3 yrs later, had surgery (called & verified before), no problem. Surprise!!!!! They refused to pay for the surgeon (over $9000), but they paid the anesthesiologist & another one who DIDN'T (told Assurant & they said until they hear from them, they can't do anything about it) because of the pre-existing condition. Filed an appeal with the claim for the other injury attached-no way, now I'm at the grievance level. I'm also submitting the grievance level of appeal to my state department of insurance. Oh by the way, check the fine print for renewal period, just found out that mine is adjusted from every 9-18 months. This is the first claim I have submitted. Also verify your EOB's for being applied to your deductilbe-oops, the missed about 6 for this year. " 2007-12-10 16:40:14 EST
"File a claim and insurance is denied....if you sign up for a 3 month "temporary" insurance, read the very small print....They continue to bill you after the 3 months and when you fax them (as required) to cancel your membership, they claim they never received fax and continue to bill you. They are criminals. " 2008-01-07 18:00:47 EST
"First of all the doctor's office reaction when we say "Assurant" is "What?
They have lousy coverage.
I have contacted the insurance commissioner for the state of CT." 2008-02-06 15:43:37 EST
"This company sucks sucks sucks." 2008-07-09 10:04:07 EST
"Assurant denied all my claims based on a pre-existing condition. I am currntly in the grievance process and am seeking help from insurance commissioner. " 2008-03-09 23:49:07 EST
"I and my wife have a $7500 ded. with preimun of $2500 per quater. I was informend if an emerency out of network would be covered without additonal co-pay or ded. I had to be treated for blood clots in my lungs out of net work and they come back with this is what we allow reas/cust. the policy says nothing about reas/cust but gives 6 ways they determine what is paid. They tell me it is to completacted to explain how payment was arrived at and which method they used out additonal $3000 out of pocket above $7500 ded and almost $10000 in preimun.
And no one talks to you and gives an answer put it in writing and they will review" 2008-03-12 10:56:59 EST
"rip off" 2008-03-25 22:25:52 EST
"In 1992 the cost of the policy was $235 with a 500 deductible. Today it's $975 with a $1000 deductible. Last year it went up almost $100. after raising the deductible from $500 to $1000. This year I was hit with $150. increase. makes it a little harder on the retired. Oh this also is with an exception from any bone spurs of the back. I'm 54." 2008-04-15 17:28:30 EST
"I changed plans in this company on 9/15/07 with a letter stating that my rated would not go up for 12 monthes. I have received a letter that on 6/15/08 my rates and deductible are both going up. Assurant refuses to honor the letter stating no increases for 12 months. I am furious!" 2008-05-05 10:37:51 EST
"These people would not accept certain blood tests, and I would be charged the full rate. Not the contract rate. I appealed and never heard from them again. I live in the Cleveland area and found out Assurant Health did not contract with the Cleveland Clinic." 2008-05-17 21:56:53 EST
"I have been fighting with assurant for a year to pay for a cancer biopsy. I called before I had it performed and they said it was covered under my plan. Now they're trying to say it's a pre-existing condition, though it's not. It's impossible to work with them. I've spent literally 20 hours on the phone trying to get a single claim paid. Every time there's more documents, more releases, more resubmissions -- it's like they're trying to wait it out. Based on other news reports I've read, it's an endemic problem. It's the worst customer service I've ever encountered in my life.
I've dealt with numerous insurance companies, and I've never had this sort of problem with any other. I think Assurant is a very expensive scam. They're a horrible, awful company and I can't stress enough to stay away from them.
If anyone from Assurant is reading this, I would really like to know how you sleep at night. " 2008-05-19 19:13:28 EST
"I had their 2 year rate lock. guess what happened when that was up?? it doubled!!!! i was diagnosed with cancer 1 year into the plan and they paid that ok but who cares because now i can't afford the new rate and i doubt anyone else will insure me." 2008-06-05 15:29:02 EST
"They do not disclose how the claim was processed and after repeated calls they pay some percent. Different errors in billing like "out of network" for in-network taxid and "existing conditions not covered" reasons for new conditions." 2008-06-11 11:52:39 EST
"I have to say out of the companies to choose from I would definately choose Assurant. They are one of the most affordable companies out there, not sacrificing coverage. You have to make sure you get the right policy..Choose SuiteSolutions to add to coverage!!! Helps with the deductible! Makes it $100. I had to have stitches, cost was $1,500, I paid $100! Great policy, Great company! Hands Down...." 2008-06-18 15:53:46 EST
"All my claims have been handled quickly and effiently and whenever I call to check on something I get a human usually is less than one minute who is very helpful and seems to know what's going on. Yeah, the customer service people usually have an accent but it's not foriegn, just northern thing." 2008-06-20 13:24:26 EST
" I have had a policy for 7 months and have had to file two claims. Bothe were handled quickly and without any problems. Customer service was excellent." 2008-06-20 16:01:42 EST
"Don't waste your money with this company. Claims have been handled slowly, and not paid due to a change of policy number when it is "renewed" each November 1. They have falsely used physican information that claims are pre-existing conditions. In several decades, we have never used an insurance company as untrustworthy when it comes to dealing fairly and ethically." 2008-06-30 15:50:18 EST
"I had health insurance with Assurant for 4 years. I have no health problems and never made a claim. Over the 4 years, my premiums increased an average of 39% per year. I would never recommend this company because I hear they do everything in their power to never pay claims--suddenly losing claims or finding ways to get out of paying claims according to my friends--stay clear of this company...." 2008-07-05 08:28:50 EST
"They take my money easy enough each month, try to get them to pay a claim. It is WAR!!!
Forget about trying to contact your agent, not going to happen." 2008-07-19 17:38:04 EST
"They paid all of the claims I has in a timely matter. After the 2 yr. rate guarantee, I called my agent and re-wrote a new plan and got another 2 yr. rate gurantee instead of keeping the old plan at a higher rate." 2008-07-25 02:31:29 EST
"I got a one year temporary policy with Assurant for my student daughter. They refused to pay on claims. When we contacted the Montana insurance commissioner, we were told we should get out of the contract, and that Assurant would not pay, no matter what. Apparently they have problems with them all the time. The way their policy is written, they somehow sidestep some Montana regulations and there is a limit to how much pressure the state can put on them." 2008-08-11 15:56:22 EST
"The insurance company wouldn't accept my wife, due to the fact that she had stomach issues (due to stress) when she was in high school-- and hasn't had any problems with it for 5 years. It was simply a bacteria, not even a disease. They are hard to get a hold of and their information collecting company is incompetent. " 2008-08-11 12:36:48 EST
"They delayed 2 1/2 months on approval for dental work. Then they disallowed all but $50 on an $800 bill. If I had known they were not going to pay, I could have pushed the work back a week and had it done under my FSA. Now I am out of pocket that amount in one month. I did call them and ask as well, and they failed to get back to me.
Their service is terrible. This is insurance that they sold to my employer, so at least I am not out the premium." 2008-09-03 16:24:23 EST
"Assurant has always paid every claim and we've had some big ones. Other companies denied me coverage and Assurant accepted me and has taken great care of us. I thank my agent everytime I talk to him." 2008-08-27 23:36:34 EST
"They are GREAT at taking your premiums, co-pays, and deductible. It would be easier to raise someone from the dead than to get this company to pay a legitimate, valid claim!
Their agents are even more frustrating than the company. Scheister is the only adjective that comes to mind.
The day I switched from Blue Cross to this piece of junk company was the biggest mistake I have EVER made in my life. I regret it each and EVERY day." 2008-09-11 17:23:52 EST
"Would not cover any of an emergency room visit for poison ivy. " 2008-09-17 17:50:02 EST
"This Co. had great rates for the first 2 years. After that the almost doubled the mo. prem. for $224 a month to $408.My wife had very good health for her age,she was on 2 medications,(1 a generic brand anti dep. and an inhaler for asthema, which she only used 2 times a day.We had to go from a $500 ded. to a $2500 ded. which never covered hardly anything.I would not recommend this Co. for anyone, unless you want to throw your money away." 2008-09-28 22:04:37 EST
"Customer Service provides little to no service. When asked to explain coverage on claims, they can't. Finding doctors that actually take Assurant Health is becoming increasingly difficult. When you call trying to find a doctor, Assurant's records are always incorrect. Please don't use this insurance. It's extremely unreliable." 2008-10-03 10:58:33 EST
"Great Customer Service, quick to pay claims, best I have experienced. I got what I paid for." 2008-10-06 14:43:54 EST
"Terrible terrible terrible!! They don't cover ANYTHING! I have been paying out of pocket for everything, and STILL paying them monthly! They are the biggest ripoff in health insurance! " 2008-10-11 14:07:08 EST
"Even with full health coverage an Emergency Room visit for poison ivy over the summer has now cost me over $700.00 Assurant health covered $17.44. I am a student and this was recommended as the best kind of student coverage. HOW???" 2008-10-20 11:12:24 EST
"Assurant is a very very slow payer. They refuse to call the health providers that they owe, even after I gave them a specific contact name and phone number. I pay nearly $700/mo for my wife and Iin addition to my employers contribution of $200/mo, with no dental or vision coverage. My out of pocket medical expense was about $12,500 for calander year 2007 and 2008 is looking to be nearly as bad. Assurant sucks! " 2008-10-23 16:47:10 EST
"I am *disgusted* by the way I have been treated by Assurant Health. During the electronic application process, I left out 1 digit on my bank account number. I immediately called Assurant to inform them of my mistake, but after 30 minutes of fighting with an obnoxious computer voice recognition system, I was told to call back in 24 hours. I sent an email, and no help was given. I called back 24 hours later, as instructed, fought with the godless automated computer voice for another 30 minutes, and I finally spoke with someone who assured me (no pun intended) that everything had gone through, and I would be contacted personally if anything came up....5 days later, I get a piece of snail mail informing me that my policy was "cancelled in full" some two days ago. Now I would rather deal with the T-600 (or whatever robot Schwarzenegger played) then that bastard unholy voice system, but tomorrow I'll lose another half hour of my day trying to sort this mess out.
By the way, even though I'm sure none of you are as dumb as me (to mess up an account number on an electronic form), just imagine how they would treat you in a serious claim situation. " 2008-10-23 22:38:13 EST
"They use unjust riders to excuse non-payment of claims." 2008-11-04 03:41:49 EST
"The coverage that is provided isn't that great. I am thinking that I am paying out more than I am getting back in return. The dental is horrible." 2008-11-19 12:17:01 EST
"They claim even after 3 years that my claim is from a preexisting condition.
I had to collect 3 years of documentation from my physician to prove my condition was not pre-existing.
The low initation fee is a trap. premium will double in 12 months." 2008-11-12 13:59:26 EST
"They refuse to pay any of the bills or apply any money to the deductable amount. Everything is labled as "pre-existing" even though I had insurance from Blue Cross up until the day I purchased my Assurant policy. I live in the Maine and in this state there are no "pre-existing" conditions as long as there was no lapse in health insurance longer than 90 days. Assurant is a rip off! Their list of exclusions is longer than my arm and the list of mumbo jumbo legal wordings are in violation of Maine law. Check with your state laws and fight them for every penny they are supposed to cover. Expose them for the crooks that they are! " 2008-11-10 12:26:52 EST
"They kept charging premiums to my credit card for 6 months after policy was canceled and the insured was living outside the US. They then had the audacity to send me coupons for more payments, when I stopped credit card payments after 5 months after the policy lapsed.Never had a claim they are just greedy!" 2008-11-13 16:04:21 EST
"I worked for Assurant Health & they are the worst company I have ever worked for. I feel sorry for anyone who has a policy with them because they are being ripped off royally. Just like many of the posts, they never pay claims, always say conditions are pre-existing, their agents don't know what they are selling, people are being ripped off. Tell everyone Assurant sucks!" 2008-11-14 12:17:39 EST
"DO NOT USE THIS INSURANCE COMPANY! They deny everything and claim everything is a pre-existing condition. You have to fight them for months just to pay a simple blood test claim. NOT WORTH IT!" 2008-11-21 12:06:25 EST |
