"New customer with great savings for the first 6 months and then a 12.5% increase with first renewal and no claims or changes. Bait and switch after first six months. Beware!!!!!!!!!!"

"They scam you into thinking there the cheapest for the first 6 months, then bang. Just like all the others."

"This company was recently bought by AIG upon the end of the purchase my rate went up $250 every six months(and the service sucks i think they must be out sourcing customer service to prisoners). I have been with this company since 1996 and i am paying more now then when i was a teenager and have had no change in my driving record during that time needless to say i will not be renewing. If you can't take care of the customer base that you have how do you expect to take care of the new ones??? There are only so many people that you can screw over before you just end up out of business."

"Like others have mentioned, AIG just bought out 21st and now they suck! I have been with 21st for 13 years! They used to be great, claims were fantastic as was customer service. Not anymore, they raised my rates with no notice and took the unauthorized chunk of money out of my checking account. They are now telling me that I "can't get that money back". They also made another major mistake a week ago and cancelled my SR-22 by "accident" which almost caused my license to be suspended and was a big time waster in the middle of my busy work week. I have never paid late and this is the treatment I get. A supervisor told me that he would contact me within an hour to make things right, that never happened and it's obvious to me that client retention isn't at the top of the AIG list. I'm searching for other options as we speak. 21st was good until they became AIG. "

"This is a total waste of time. It is impossible to reach anyone who is truly interested in the customer. I plan to go directly to the CEO, Mr. Marlow...IF there really is such a person!"

"I was with 21st Century from 2005-2008. In that time, I unfortunately had to make four claims, most of them minor, which they handled well. My rates went up about 50%, partly because I moved to a different city with a higher crime rate, but they remained lower than competitors. The reason why I didn't renew is because they refused to provide me with homeowner's insurance due to the SIZE of the property. 652 sf apparently is not enough for them.. they did not consider anything else. So I switched to a company that would not be arbitrary so I could receive a multi-line discount, Amica. Have found their service to be much superior."

"HAVE RECENTLY RAISED THEIR RATES CONSIDERABLY"

"I'm 24 with one speeding infraction and an at-fault accident. My premium is $1372. Make your own judgement."

"They raised my rates about $300 without notice and for no reason. I talked to person who says it's all Florida's fault that they had to raise their prices. I know we just bailed AIG out with billions and now they are asking me for more money. Isn't that a little ridiculous? I haven't had an accident nor any claim in the 2.5 years I have been with them."

"These criminals withdrew almost $3000 from my bank account even after I canceled my policy in writing one week before the renewal date. The reason that they ignored my request was because, according to their own explanation, that they could not reach me to confirm the cancellation!!! Now they can not refund my money right away because they need to wait until the ACH transfer is cleared. It will take two weeks. Their service is bad but their billing practice is criminal!"

"I've been with 21st for 2 years now and most recently they actually lowered my premium by several hundred dollars without me even asking them! I thought I had a good rate before, but now it's even better! It was probably because I turned 25, and haven't even had a speeding ticket in years and years. If your rate is high it's probably because you're a bad driver and you deserve to pay more, people on here need to stop whining."

"They raised my rate for no reason (11%). I called to find out why and they blamed it on the state insurance commission. I called them and they said that they had to give me more of an explanation than that. I decided to not deal with the stress and just check the rates of other companies. I had done this a few months ago and wasn't able to find a better rate. This was before the news. I found that I could get insurance for cheaper than my original rate before the increase. So thank you AIG; I mean 21st Century. What will you change your name to the next time you need to screw over the taxpayers for a party or ceo bonuses?! "

"Rates constantly increasing even with no claims or changes in driver status."
2009-07-17 11:38:24 EST

"I have had 21st century (now AIG) for 15 years. never gave me any problems with the few claims that I have. Forgave me for an accident. when me and another person were 50% at fault, normally we would each have to pay our deductible, but since we were both with 21st century, they waived the deductible. Only thing I will point out is their rates are not very competitive."

"Pricing is getting excessive with current renewal increase of about 13%, I am currently shopping for another insurer"
