"Claims processing fair, but every single claim resulted in a ltr to me saying "this claim will be delayed for internal review." That said, they still paid faster than United Health Care (finally fined for late payment!!) or BCBS."

"High deductible plans along with an HSA are attractive at introduction, but after enrolling in the plan the rates increase substantially every six months. Perscripton discounts for maintenance medications are insufficent for fair reduction of price for namebrand drugs, Example (Liptor)."

"I am healthy 60 year old male, with no pre-existing conditions, and have submitted no insurance claims, and carry a policy with maximum $10,000 deductible. My monthly premium is jumping up about 20% every six months like clockwork, and in one period jumped 35%. Roughly looking at comparisons, I'm paying possibly double what I should be paying. "

"I am paying over $500.00 a month for "great" coverage. They have weasled out of paying for everything. Very deceptive and loose wording in the contract, leaving lots of loop holes."

"My folks have been with this company for 20 years and recommended it , so I decided to check them out when my renewal with a competitor came up.
The premium was $70.00 less per month and I could lock it in for three years!
My research showed this company has been around since 1929, has never been bought or sold or changed names, and pay their claims on average of 9 days. The switch was a no-brainer."

"We were sold a policy which has a high deductible so we could afford it, but when we had to use it and put it to the test, we found out that they pay for very little. Insurance salesman sold us a policy and misrepresented the policy. He also said rates would increase approximately 10% a year. In one years time the policy price has increased From $390 to $557 a month--thats quite a bit more than 10%. Switching from Anthem (we had them for 15 years) to American Republic was one of the worst mistakes we have ever made. "

"I had an accident at the end of last year and was glad I decided to include the Accident Rider to my policy. Everything was paid under the rider, the emergency room, the X-rays and all the follow-up Dr's visits - I paid nothing ... not one cent! American Republic is great and I now have peace of mind that they will take care of me when I need them for something BIG!"

"I have a very affordable plan with this company, which means I would normally expect to pay more than most people when I go to the doctor. I recently had to go to urgent care, but it only cost me $40. They also saved me over $200 on 3 prescriptions. I got a Z pack, steroids, and an inhaler that is normally over $100 for less than $35 for all three! I was happy to have this coverage."

" $320000 cancer claim American Republic paid every penny,except a $4000 deductible. Claims were paid very fast no question ask. excellent customer service.Have been insured with American Republic over 20 years. "

"Went to ER for an Accident.
Did not cost me one dime. Plus surgery was paid for 100%
I am very HAPPY with this plan.

"The agent took the time to show me a plan that would be best for me. He also delivered the policy in person and went over everything to make sure I knew exactly what the plan covered. I am glad he did. I had accident while hiking and the plan paid every cent of it up front. I cannot tell you how much happier I am after I dumped Anthem and went with American Republic. They have plans for everybody and can be customized a hundred different ways so you can get exactly what you want."

"I had the flu in November of 2008 and had a 8 day stay in the hospital. My out of pocket was $3000.00 and I had only been with American Republic for 8 mos. My hospital bills were over $27,000.00, they paid all my bill but the $3000.00 I had to pay in like 10 days. I am so gald I had them with all the test I had done to make sure my lungs were ok. I did not know a simple MRI would cost over $3900.00. There is no way with times as hard as they are today I could afford to pay a $27,000.00 bill, thanks American Republic.

"I like the way I can pick up the phone and talk to the same person that sold me the insurance and that person takes care of things. No 800# and having to explain the same thing over and over to different people."
