"Life Investors refused to pay for long term care insurance even though we had doctor's documentation saying my mother had alzheimers disease and need supervision to protect herself and others from harms way.
LI gave my mother the Mini Mental Test to determine whether she qualified for benefits or not. According to the "standardize test" she was given, she did not qualify for benifits.
The word "standardized test" is crucial in this case. Standardized tests must be given in standard situations, meaning everyone taking and/or administering the test must be given the test in the exact same manner and exact same wording, etc. there should be no deviation of any sort, no prompting or cues given to the test taker.
My mother was administered the test twice by a company hired by Life Investors and each time the test administer prompted her on various questions making the test invalid." 2008-10-06 18:57:07 EST
"I am now making the fourth car payment to Toyota Financial during a period of disability (total hip replacement) which began five months ago. Life Investors Insurance has paid nothing to date. Just endless obstacles and paper work. Doctors and their personal are in the business of saving lives, not filling out paperwork. This insurance company does not seem to realize this. Both my Primary Care Physician and Orthopedic Surgeon have provided statements substantiating the date of my disability, as well as my statement and one from my employer. Then they wanted a detailed medical transcript (14 pages) of the procedure including such facts the type of incision (an oblique linear) and the size of the femoral implant (46+2mm). Also included was details both pre and post operative. Now they want additional medical history dating back three years ago. The “stall tactics” employed by this company are endless. It is their aim to drive you to insanity and forget about your claim. " 2008-09-18 12:17:23 EST
"Long Term Policy has been in effect since 1972. Claim was
was 88 year old woman in personal care unit. Letter sent from neurologist saying woman had cognitive impairment and required care provided by Personal Care. Life Investors sent Nations Care Link to facility to interview woman and Life Investors denied claim based on opinion and interivew made by nurse versus neurologist!!!" 2008-07-24 11:05:34 EST
