"In the thirty years we have had homeowners coverage with this company, we have had 2 claims. It took over 10 weeks to get a response from the claims adjuster after leaving numerous messages for him for our last claim. "They were very prompt with my not at fault claim but low balled me and totaled out my vehicle and gave me a very low amount for my vehicle noting conditions on the car (conditions that were present on my car when I purchased it) Also had trouble keeping my rental once my car was totaled. "Liberty Mutual finally gave me what was agreed upon in my policy only after a protracted series of phone calls and letters. Their handling of my claim demonstrated their interest in only their bottom line. One employee actually said something like, "I'm sorry we did so poorly in handling this claim. "I'm affraid that like many people I can only say I have car insurance. I thought my insurance company would be more helpful in my accident settlement,that they would look out for my interests. They were helpful in advizing about the market value of my total loss vehicle claim, however the opposing insurance company was the first to reach me by phone. I was astounded they would. "I am a cancer patient who is dealing with Liberty Mutual for a short term disability claim. Despite details about my illness and surgery from my doctor and a recommended return to work date, they do nothing to follow up or update my file. They insist on keeping the return to work date they feel necessary without regards to upcoming chemotherapy. My case worker is always "not in". "I have Liberty Mutual for Short Term Disability and after my recent pregnancy/delivery, even though my doctor has authorized an additional 3 weeks due to complications, Liberty Mutual has denied my claim. Every time I try to call my claim representative I get his voice mail, I do not get any calls returned to me. After contacting my HR agent I was informed that my case had been closed and my claim for the additional 3 weeks denied. "Dealing with Liberty Mutual Insurance has been one of the most unpleasant experiences I ever had. You can pay your premiums every year but do not attempt to file a claim! "I have had auto and homeowner's insurance with Liberty Mutual for over 30 years. We filed several small homeowner's claims within 2 years when we encountered problems with a new roof that had been installed. Subsequently we purchased a new home and the premium was sky-high. Someone should have warned me that I would have been better off paying for the damages myself instead of the increased premium that would result. "I am being dropped by liberty mutual because I have a manufactured home. Although my house is a 1999 model on a permanent foundation and classified by the county as Real Estate, Liberty will not discuss with me, just dropping coverage.
I have had policies for both auto and home with no claims, but that does not matter to them. Liberty Mutual is good at one thing... collecting premiums. I would recommend them only to people I hate.

They're tape recording your statement and twist your words arounfd to their advantage, didn't include my uninsured motorist coverage when I specifically requested it and refuse to compensate me for my loss after an unlicensed driver hit and ran from the scene. "Four years ago my son was injured on the job, and his employer had Liberty Mutual as their workers compensation insurance carrier. My son's injury eventually involved major surgery for three spinal discs in his neck. Without this surgery, my 22-year old was facing the real possibility of a wheelchair future. Dealing with Liberty Mutual for the year or more before we had to take this to litigation was a nightmare. If my son had not been able to move back home, it would have been impossible for him to have gotten the proper medical care his injury required. This is one of the most unethical insurance companies I have ever heard of. At one point, they actually sent my son to a doctor of their choosing, who, without the benefit of any medical files, concluded that my son could return to work. This work involved extremely strenuous physical labor that would have exacerbated his injury and placed him in serious danger. Their agents were never available and never returned his calls. I recognize that the insurance industry in this country has serious flaws and must be constantly vigilent in pursuing insurance fraud; however, this was a despicable example of moral behavior on the part of a company who has spent a fortune in advertising an image of a company that does the "responsible thing". If at all possible, please save yourself future heartache and avoid this insurance company. While on this subject, is there not some national watchdog agency to protect citizens from these kinds of companies? "Was with LM for 48 years. Had two accidents, neither of which were my fault. LM had a differing opinion and sided with the other parties. Through my pointing out their LM's lacking and erroneous investigations - 'was able to change LM's settlement in my direction, but not without their they erroneously paying the other parties. "I have the short-term disability plan to which I've paid for over 5 years. I became disabled on 9/20, substantiated by two physicians with complete medical documentation and as of 12/15/07, Liberty has done nothing by deny my claim. I have had to file with the NC Ins. Comish and then they offered an appeal. That is going at a snail's pace with them making more and more excuses at prolonging the case - their strategy of denials and lengthy paperwork probably deters many customers that are actually due compensation. "Was sitting at a stop sign and was hit by 2 other cars. Other driver was ticketed. Lower and upper back injuries as well as left arm injury. LM sent me to their Independent Medical Examiner who stated I had a resolved cervical strain. After exam, I immediately called my adjuster as well as sent a written letter. LM ended up stopping my no fault pymts as well as any treatment causally related to my accident. They buy their Doctors to give false information. "I do not have Liberty Insurance but I have has the unfortunate experience of having to deal with them becuse one of there policy holders hit me head on. I was hit on a Thursday night and my only form of transportation was towed away and I find out that I can not get a rental until the adjuster determines liability and she only works Monday thru Friday 8 to 5. I was told by one of there operators that it would probably be faster to make the claim on my insurance, which would mean I would have to pay my deductable and then try to get it back. Totaly unacceptable service. I was involved in an accident an State Farm was the driver at faults insurance provider and I made 1 phone call picked a service center and they had a rental car waiting there for me the day after it happened. "Had disability insurance for 15 years, with Prudential, Core, Broadspire. As soon as Liberty Mutual took over the policy they began ruthless effort to eliminate me and others. Had quack doctors review my claim and render me no longer disabled. This is after being approved for 15 years by 3 other insurance companies, social security and previous employer. "I am actually a Geico customer but I had to file a claim against liberty mutual after one of there customers hit my car. I was going down a straightway and they came out of a side street and hit me on my driverside back door and bumper. I had to pay almost 200.00 to get towed from MASS TO NH. I am currently without a car I've been walking 45 mins to work because I can't afford a taxi after dishing out the money for the tow, and they have been completly unhelpful. They refuse to pay for a rental untill their customer calls them back. They are taking their time with a claims represenative coming to look at the damage. I live in NH where if anyone of you live in the northeast understand that this is winter, and it snows here. I am without anyway to get back and forth to work, not to mention I am a student and I am enrolled to take a class next week. I am unable to get to school. I will lose out on my class as well as be responsible for a fee. I am sure that Liberty mutual will not reinburse me for any of that. I am so angry and fed up. It took 5 phone calls in one day to get them to do anything. They hadn't even made one phone call to the insured until the 3rd call, and I had to give them the numbers! "I was involved in a hit and run. I cought the guy but the car's owner was not driving and had no ID. He told the police he had Progressiver but refused to admit to his insurance company that he was involved in an accident. Liberty refused to process the claim under my uninsured motorist. They wanted to use my collision with me paying the $1000 deductable. They said that since the guy who owned the car that hit me wouldn't admit to them that he had insurance and thus Progressive wouldn't pay they couldn't use the uninsured part of my policy because he might have insurance. They are good in trying to deny claims and also good in dragging their feet to pay out when Claimant fought back. If you do not want to deal with all these, you should go for a different one. "Me and my roomates cars were parked in front of our house... got hit but a guy this insurance... They are lazy and don't do anything. Since he had AMEX insurance b/c the car he was driving is a rental Liberty mutual refuses to pay for the damage to our cars. I had to call AMEX to get the clami dept number.. liberty told me they called them yesterday but today I was told they didn't even have the number. They aren't doing a thing and are making me do everything when they are NOT even my insurance company. I wish they would stop lieing to me and being lazy. "We have had insurance with Liberty Mutual for 32 years plus. Had a claim in 2001 from two trees falling on our house and porch. In Feb. 2008 another tree fell on porch and house damageing roof and porch. Liberty Mutual claimed we never repaired the damage from 2001 did not pay except to have the tree removed. We are in debt for all the repairs to our house and roof.Very rude adjusters My husband had to ask them to leave it got so bad. Then they sent out a investegater to talk to us He wanted to tape record my converstion. I certainly did not agree. After taking our money for 32 years they did not pay. "We had a very bad storm here in Texas. My roof which was only 4yrs old leaked in both the garage and home. The adjuster who came out was a bit of a jerk and pretty much said the claim was going to be denied because he couldn't find any point of entry caused by the storm. Meanwhile the flash around my chimney was all bent to hell which I told him was probably due to the high 60mph winds. He said no it was due to the flashing being installed improperly which is BS.
Because they screwed up in the office 10 days later he had to come out a second time during which time even more rain came in. They eventually denied the claim and I am looking at thousand of dollars worth of damage which will have to come out of my pocket.

"I was a Liberty Mutual customer for over 7 years. I never filed a claim until the 7th year. Upon filing the company told me my policy had been canceled several months back due to a payment, which they received in full, a few days late. The cancellation occurred with no communication to me.

"it is amazing that when you have a disaster, and then another bad experience, and then something else, that you really asked for these things,
make sure you have mold mildew, ammendatory ammendment, due to you will get very sick, i do not think mold and mildew ever quits having babies, and spreads, with the mold spurs you cannot see, and ruins you sentimental things, and things are not replaced correctly. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE HOUSING AND IF IT IS PROMISED TO YOU, PURSUE IT, MAKE THEM FIND YOU HOUSING AND THEY PAY UP FRONT. DON'T TRUST THEM. IF YOU RENT AND THE PROPERTY DOES NOT MAKE PAY PURSUE IT WITH YOU BUILDING DAMAGE, AND ALWAYS HAVE YOUR DECLARATION PAGE, AND FILE ALL THE COMPLAINTS, HERE, GET WITH EPA, FEMA, ETC.
DO NOT TRUST UP FRONT, AND DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO PRY INTO YOUR PERSONAL LIFE, SINCE YOU WERE IN HIGH SCHOOL, I DID THAT, AS I WAS MOVING AND TIRED AND IN PAIN FROM AN ACCIDENT.

"i had full auto coverage for my bmw z3 with liberty mutual. they have insured the vehicle for 4 years. my review is rather difficult to write given that i crashed my car two weeks ago, and i am presently going through the process. so far, liberty mutual has been an exceptionally easy and friendly company to deal with. i reported the accident and my car was towed to the body shop promptly the next morning. the claims adjuster was on the telephone immediately and sending email regarding the estimates and claim. the repairs were approved within 2 days. they even emphasized that the work performed was guaranteed for life of vehicle thru LM. so far, so good.
except, 6 weeks ago i received a telephone call from LM informing me that they would no longer insure me and my policy was not going to be renewed on 05/21/08. the rep explained that due to several speeding tickets i received in 2007, i was considered high-risk, and my driving habits were labeled both wreckless and negligent.
when i subsequently wrecked my vehicle, i was at first concerned about a short-timer attitude with LM. if anything they're attitude as been just the opposite.

"We just bought an older home (1920's) with some branch circuits using knob and tube wiring. We were referred to Liberty Mutual through our real estate agent's concierge service. Note they called us; we did not seek them out. I filled out an application over the phone during which 1) we were never asked if we had knob and tube wiring and 2) I explicitly told them we had older wiring in the house and we intended to get portions of it replaced. When I received the written application in the mail, it suggested that we DID NOT have knob and tube wiring. I tried calling them twice before closing to determine the implications for this discrepancy. I was told someone from underwriting would call me back. I heard nothing until 4 weeks AFTER closing when they told me I would have to replace EVERY INCH of knob and tube wiring in the house or they would drop me.
It was an absolutely AWFUL experience. I suspect that 1) Liberty Mutual did not really want to recognize the knob and tube wiring so that, in event of a claim, they could be absolved of responsibilities and 2) they want an absolutely risk free situation (which is impossible) so they have no obligations to cover claims. I talked with an insurance lawyer who suggested these kinds of practices are not uncommon.
I would highly discourage any proud home owner from insuring their home with Liberty Mutual.

They refused to pay any mechanical damages because they say they are not related to the theft. They want me to pay $400.00 for a diagnostic test to see if the problems were caused by the theft. "I have Liberty Mutual for Short Term Disability. I filed a claim for pregnancy complications. My doctor has authorized bedrest for 1 month prior to my due date because of complications. Liberty Mutual has denied my claim. Every time I try to call the claim representative I get her voice mail with a message telling me she is "out of the office at 3:45PM EST". The times she is in the office seem to fluctuate, so, I must leave messages, then I do not get any calls returned to me. When I finally made contact with my representative I was informed that my case had been closed and denied. I asked, where was the letter that explained Liberty Mutual’s decision? Also, Liberty Mutual is supposed to send information on the appeal process. No information has been communicated to me. I am still waiting for both letters and it's been over a month. On christmas eve all my presents were stolen from my vehical at a local movie theater police reports were filed every item i claimed was reported and i had reciepts for these items an investagation into the case wanted to intarrogate me and go thru my checking account and safety deposit box!!when I refused they claimed i was fradulant!! all along they were over charging my seinor citizen grandparents $1100 a year for home owner insurance they now have same coverage for $600!! thank you liberty mutual for calling attention to how much you were ripping my grandparents off for 30 years!!you should be ashamed of you practices!!!I think we need insurance for rip off insurance companies like this one!! "If ever you need to file a claim with Liberty Mutual make sure you hire a privat adjuster. otherwise you will spend days on the phone being transferred from one idiot to another with no resolution to your claim. They jerked us around for two years over a hurricaine claim and after trying to resolve the issue I hired a private adjuster. although it cost me 25% of my claim I'm convinced had i not done so i would have ended up with nothing. Once this claim is done...we will be switching companies.
