"phone call to 800# for claims was very lenghty and frustrating - person did not know what they were doing " 2007-07-16 19:39:25 EST
"Handled two claims within one year, first arose out of a widespread weather related event where a lot of damage would have been incurred by a number of insureds. Response time was somewhat delayed because of widespread nature and volume of claims. However once estimates were obtained and substantiating photos provided to adjuster, claim was paid without onsite examination or quibble. A Second claim about a year later was made as a result of my negligence. Claim was paid again without quibble. Did not raise premium and never threatened to cancel coverage. Am well satisfied." 2007-07-20 16:28:20 EST
"Attempts by me AND by my bank to contact the local office were unsuccessful a majority of the time - nobody answered the phones on the main number, the agent's extension, or the admin number. And that was just to get an adjustment on my paperwork (change payee name to my bank's name instead of me). It doesn't bode well for actually having to file a claim. The insurance may be good (though I don't know, having never filed a claim), but the customer service really stinks. (Utah)" 2007-09-20 09:31:28 EST
"Hard to understand statements, over charged several times. Membership fee required with benefits unrelated to our region. We are changing to Amica, where we understand service and rates are much, much better." 2007-07-23 21:03:27 EST
"Our first and only claim that we filed with the company in about 15 years of paying insurance with them. Lost all our claims paperwork and we had to get it all together again and carry it to them. We still have not received a check for damages that we reported over a month ago. They don't communicate well at all. I don't recommend there services." 2007-08-16 13:54:07 EST
"Auto insurance was extremely high, Unfortunately, It took me almost ten years to realize this. Went to Allstate and saved $1000.00 per year on auto insurance alone!. Bureaus home insurance is reasonable. Their whole life insurance policies seemed high to me and I would suggest you look elsewhere for such products. Overall, I felt as if I was ripped off for ten years by this company and do not recommend it to others." 2007-08-26 02:05:37 EST
"They will not return calls and it has been 3 weeks and still no settlement check. living without power and furniture from a fire." 2007-09-14 08:57:34 EST
"I filed my first claim with Farm Bureau, after over 20 years as a customer. The first adjuster that came to my house after a hail storm said they would replace the shingles and all of the siding on my house. Three weeks later I received a check for the first half repairs and contacted Farm Bureau because the check was too small. I was connected with another adjuster that said they would only reside the entire house if they couldn't match the siding and that they would need a sample of the current siding. Three weeks after I arranged to deliver a sample to them a report without explanation arrived in my mail indicating that they found a match. I got a sample fo their supposed match and found it was significantly darker than the existing siding. The adjusters response was that they didn't need to match the actual color just the original color. The adjuster was unmoved when I pointed out that they were proposing to patch the middle of a large wall and the repair would be very obvious. We argued back and forth for several weeks and finally agreed to just replace the two damaged walls. I just hope that when the bills come in they actually pay them." 2007-09-26 15:16:06 EST
"They have professional agents" 2007-10-17 17:01:26 EST
"We had a theft claim in 1995,a large water loss in 2000, both times the Farm Bureau adjuster was quick to respond and prompt with payment. We have had 2 small auto accidents, again, easy to deal with.
I think the service you recieve during a claim has to do with the local adjuster more than anything. After 20 years with them, I can't imagine changing." 2007-10-24 21:42:29 EST
"i was involved in a collision that after all investigations i was found not at fault and not only did i lose my truck, and i was out over five thousand dollars but i still have no truck and a lein that i'm paying on at the local bank. The claims adjuster for the company is extremely rude and cares nothing for the insured." 2007-10-31 06:50:12 EST
" Rude, arrogant, quiet slow, couldn't seem to get the agent to follow up on my claim.I had an out of state accident, what a nightmare, like going to the dentist, except no Novocaine. " 2007-11-13 12:52:21 EST
"Farm Bureau has fair rates and has done a fine job of settling claims, but their responsiveness is terrible. They don't have 24hr support (they claim to but it's an answering service that forwards your message in the morning). Based on terrible customer service throught the course of 3 claims, I am switching to another insurer. On the positive side, once they do respond, claims are processed fairly and in resonable time, but when you have an emergency and need to speak to an agent, that's what you want and need, not an answering service and not a 24-48hr wait to be contacted." 2007-12-05 13:36:14 EST
"they make sure i am properly insured, I don't have to worry if I am covered when I have a loss, because I know I am" 2007-12-04 17:09:33 EST
"Paid a hail damage claim on auto nice and fast, no issues. Big problem when a young man rear ended my car 14 months ago and injured my back. Our state is no-fault so Farm Bureau had to pay the claim. Stopped paying all medical bills after 4 months. Their routine goes like this. They have you examined by a physician they hire. He of course says "I'll be fine, no damage at all!". My Neurologist and MRI's say different. I am forced to hire an attorney and pay all expenses out of pocket for the last 9 months. None of this was my fault." 2008-01-10 11:43:42 EST
"We were treated like criminals. We were subjected to hours of questioning by thier attorney. " 2008-01-24 13:58:16 EST
"We have had F.B.Homeowners Ins for 7 years on our brand new home, thinking that they were fair in pricing and that we live so far out in the country we used them NOW we find that our coverage is FAR from ample coverage at double the cost of NUMEROUS other companies. We started paying $985.per year and with no claims have been raised to $1,485. yrly. We have recently contacted other very well known companies throughout the country and have been quoted substantially more coverage for almost 1/2 the cost of F.B. Ins. It really bothers me that they could do this when they claim to be for the Country Folk like us!I intend to notify everyone I know on this issue of PRICE vs. coverage!" 2008-01-26 11:03:39 EST
"I filed a claim and rec'd compensation for a new roof. When I told my ins agent that I didn't think the work was done right she said she would have the adjuster come back out and look. Three weeks later she asked why I hadn't pd the roofing co and I said I was waiting for the adjuster. She got upset with me and said she wasn't sending out an adjuster. Come to find out she was getting a cut from the roofing co. I then received word that the ins co was going to drop me at the end of the contracts...the reason "she told them we had differences". You better believe we did at that point. I dropped them immediately." 2008-02-19 16:34:29 EST
"Local offices with people who remember who you are. When filing claims, people are eager to help. Claims are handled swiftly and with no problems." 2008-02-25 14:55:46 EST
"They are very friendly and helpful. Their rates are some of the lowest compared to the Nationally advertised competitors for auto insurance." 2008-03-04 12:17:16 EST
"Your loss will not be properly compensated." 2008-03-04 17:43:46 EST
"AFTER A DEVISTATING HOUSE FIRE IN WHICH OUR YOUNG CHILDREN ESCAPED WITHIN MINUTES OF THEIR ROOMS BURSTING INTO FLAMES WE WERE TOLD THAT ALL WAS A TOTAL LOSS. WHEN TRYING TO PROCESS OUR CLAIM FOR PERSONAL PROPERTY WE HAVE HAD TO BATTLE FOR EVERY DIME.....IT IS NOW 6 MONTHS LATER AND WE STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED FULL PAYMENT. WE HAVE DONE EVERYTHING THAT THEY ASKED, INCUDING KEEPING ITEMS THAT WERE WATER AND SMOKED DAMAGED...ITEMS THAT WE SIMPLY THREW AWAY - OUR CLAIMS ADJUSTER EVEN TOLD ME TO SMELL HIS SLEEVE - HIS BELIEF THAT DOWNY CAN COVER ANY SMELL - DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY - FARM BUREA WILL NOT BE THERE TO HELP YOU IN A TRADGEDY!" 2008-03-07 11:22:08 EST
"I called the compay a few weeks ago to ask a question about my policy. Today I got a call from a lady who said that the underwriter listented to my phone call and she scolded me and told me that if I took someone to court I would be abusing my policy. I am shopping for new insurance tomorrow! I am not going to let anyone treat me like that. They have invaded my privacy every time a policy is up for renewal. They do not trust their customers. They are worthless" 2008-03-26 22:19:51 EST
"I have my auto insurance billed monthly. Last year, for about three months, the bill went up $20 or so mysteriously. The agent said it was a "small" increase. $20 on $55 or so is not a small increase. But then it went back down.
Now that it's time to renew my house insurance, apparently this mysterious man came and looked at my garage and decided the roof was too curled for Farm Bureau to insure. The garage is less than 10 years old, and there are certainly no leaks. It is the best garage on my block.
I don't really like dealing with my agent, but it's mostly that he's tucked behind a car wash in an unpleasant part of town to drive to..." 2008-05-07 20:01:06 EST
"Agents and clerks are VERY untruthful and VERY misleading. Let me put it simply. They tell lies. Not just one of them, but ALL of the ones I have talked to over the past three years have lied to me at least once, and in some cases, lied to me repeatedly." 2008-05-13 19:28:36 EST
"I had roof damage after a golf ball sized hail storm. They came out and said the roof was still functional, and that they were not going to replace it. All the neighbors had their roofs replaced and insurance covered their costs. Mine was still working, but had a "loss of life" meaning the 30 year roof would now only last 15 to 20, but they don't pay for "loss of life".
Farm Bureau put a $50 claim on my record that was there for 5 or 6 years, even though they never paid me a dime." 2008-06-03 11:21:10 EST
"bad service Douglas county and cobb county offices in ga." 2008-06-10 16:27:21 EST
"I bought this insurance for myself and my son because it cost way too much to be insured through my husbands work for a family policy. Well it turns out it would have been cheaper to use the other insurance because Farm Bureau never ends up paying for anything every time we go in for a well baby check up there's at least a 100$ bill left over from the last check up makes me wonder what I'm paying them $400 a month for. I call and they say they'll take care of it but they never do I'd be better off without insurance and paying out of pocket for the check ups. I'm happy to say starting next month I well no longer be dealing with them because I just became eliagable at my new job for insurance." 2008-07-04 13:57:15 EST
"The representatives are very unfriendly. They make you feel like a burden every time you ask them to do something. Will definately be changing companies ASAP!" 2008-07-06 23:06:29 EST
"Do not file a claim" 2008-07-15 14:39:55 EST
"I applied for auto insurance and thought I had coverage. They had sent me something in the mail that they could not insure me, but I had my house with them and was suppose to have coverage when I left their office that day. I was riding around with no insurance because they could not pick up the phone and call me or send me a certified letter that required my signature that I had received it. I don’t check my mail often because I do everything electronically. Thanks to all the JUNK MAIL I have not requested through the postal service. There should be a law if you can’t insure someone to send a certified letter and a common phone call wouldn’t hut." 2008-07-24 11:14:54 EST
"I had several shingles that were tore off from a storm recently. The entire roof needed to be replaced for the shingles to match. I was paid to replace just the shingles that were missing and told a website where I could order ones to match mine. I asked for them to refer me to someone who would fix my roof for the amount they were giving me...of course no one would fix it for the amount I was given. This has kind of scared me off..." 2008-07-29 16:56:00 EST
"Extremely incompetent Firm. Told me my automobile-home insurances were paid up in full and current. Then when I called to report shingle damage after Huricaine Dolly, they told me all my policies had been cancelled three months ago. This despite my having discussed my policies and any need for additional coverage with their agent four days before the storm.
This company really is a threat to the Texas Public. " 2008-07-28 16:43:23 EST
"It is a solid company; offering great insurance products and services." 2008-08-24 18:48:27 EST
"When I bought a home, they applied the check from the Abstract to my CAR insurance, refunded me two checks, and then sent me a bill saying I hadn't paid my home coverage. We finally got everything worked out after I insisted on speaking with someone with authority (not the secretaries who had given us conflicting answers and explanations every time we called). We are switching to a new insurance company to whom customer service and competency is important." 2008-09-11 12:27:41 EST
"Every state runs its own Farm Bureau Insurance company (I know this because we've moved to other states and changed companies). I can't speak for the other states, but Texas Farm Bureau Insurance is hard to beat. Very good rates, very competent agents and fast claims service. I have no reason to change - or even look around!" 2008-09-14 17:08:24 EST
"read web site FarmBureaulies
cheat customers" 2008-10-04 09:17:20 EST
"they have added claims against me, that I have not made and they never return my calls." 2008-10-17 13:33:35 EST
"They have the BEST adjusters in the Business- My policy is in southern MN- The adjusters treat you fair and like they would treat their own Mother- Very pleased- Very fair settlements" 2008-10-30 11:12:13 EST
"Truely a multiline one stop professional service. Great claims service." 2008-10-30 11:05:21 EST
"The only reason i would renew my policy its to file every claim i could to make them work harder and make them as miserable as they have made us. When it comes time to pay a claim they do everything they can to AVOID paying by the terms of your policy." 2008-11-04 10:08:33 EST
"I have been with FB for 15 plus years, Iv'e had a nuber of claims during this time. Including major auto damage, hail damaged roof, lightning damage, etc. They settle fast and with no hassle. Great company." 2008-11-19 13:36:24 EST
"When I accidentally missed the date to pay a premium they immediately reported me to the state (no grace period there) and I had to pay a fine for the couple of days I was “uninsured”. Not fun but fair enough. My mistake. When I had my first major accident ever they wanted me to rush to settle saying my vehicle was totaled. They wanted to say the present market value was “partially” based upon results from a service that checks the internet for the lowest price offered for a similar vehicle but with 30% to 80% more miles.
