"They seem as good as any, but we have never had to make a claim."

"We had hail damage to our roof. They flip-flopped -- first said they'd pay for repairs, then went back on their word. Finally settled for a 1/3 payment of the replacement. Cost us $18,000 out of pocket. Still waiting for additional settlement on siding and paint that wasn't satisfactorally repaired with their coverage. Interesting that other insurance companies are paying 100% for our neighbors' roofs. AAA people are stubborn and give a lot of lip service without action. We won't renew, even if another carrier costs more."

"CSAA is fair, fast and helpful. Nobody wants to have an accident, but when it happens you need a real pro on your team; this is what you get with AAA."

"Great group of people to work with!"

"I reported water damage to my condo 3 weeks ago, and the adjuster has only called me once. I have yet to have an appraiser call me to look at the damage, and I there is a 2 foot wide hole in my ceiling!"

"Months after a fire at my house, we've settled only the first phase(fire damage to structure) of a 3 phase settlement(then personal property, then displacement costs). Despite enhanced coverage, they move at the speed of molasis. I do not recommend this company to anyone."

"PAID QUICKLY AND FAIR. VERY HAPPY."
2007-08-05 23:15:23 EST

"We received a notice saying they would cancel us because "dwelling is not owner occupied as required". We do, indeed, live in the insured property full-time. I encourage anyone who has AAA to cancel and switch to my old insurance company, American Family Insurance. "

"Have only filed one homeowner's claim and that was handled well. What I don't like is the auto insurance. When my daughter got her permit we bought her an old car and put the minimum coverage on it. The rate on my car went up because she was listed as the "rated driver", even though she was listed on the other car and didn't even have her license! When I asked my agent about it, he said it didn't affect my rate. When we bought a newer car for her and she got her license, my insurance was cut in half because she was listed on my car! In other words, my agent totally lied to me the first time I asked about it. They did this to my friend also...automatically list the new driver on the most expensive car on the policy...even though the new driver has another car. Easy way to rip people off. We are currently looking into switching companies. I feel betrayed. Plus, we have never filed a claim in the 20 years we've had auto coverage with them."

"Very tricky company. Steers you the wrong way. Claims process is a bit long and feels as if they are "playing a game" with you. Although rates have been low, client satisfaction for myself is poor."

"What a waste!"
2007-10-21 08:18:48 EST

"A truck lost a tire on the 10 freeway at 3am back in September. I hit it right after it came off the truck. The Auto Club assessor told the repair shop to do minimal repairs. I found three major items that had not been repaired after picking up my car, (including the brakes!), and the Auto Club denied the repair costs, telling me I must have had a second accident right after I picked up the car! Then they sent me a letter telling me they were listing me as 'at fault' on the collision! Stay well away!"

"I got a quote for $110 per month at first, and then I got the policy and statement, It went to $150 per month, at the end of first month, they raise my liability insurance $270 per year just because I moved 3 miles away within the same town. At the second month, they withdraw from my account $194 dollars, and add another new insurance charge for $154, there is no explanation for why!!!, near the end of the third month, I was charged for $213, I ask the agent why, she didn't know why...., I cancelled the policy right away. And they send me another statement right away; I still owe them $74 dollars!!! what a nightmare!!! Insured with them for only 80 days, they charged me almost $800 dollars!!! Double the original quotation and more....never again! AAA, I switch to Geico, $650 for 6 months...."

"I have had AAA for 4 years. This year I had a water damage claim and a hail damage claim. Both were paid quickly and in full. What you have to watch out for are the adjusters. They are contracted out so you never know who you’re going to get. Be informed and get quotes before they show up."

"Just had a claim for wind damage which destroyed our roof shingles. Total cost to repair was approx $8000.00 AAA paid $4280.00.We just got renewal. They gave us a surcharge of $565.00 which will last for three years...So we are paying them back over 1/3 of what we received. Their justification is the claim was over $2000.00 and the law says they can do it. I have had CSAA insurance (Auto and homeowners) for 53 years. Needless to say, we are shopping for a new carrier. "

"Filed an auto claim and AAA is trying to deny paying my medical bills. It has been 14 months since the accident and my medical bills have gone to collections and ruined my credit."
2007-11-27 14:28:52 EST

"We were with them for over 14 years. If you KNOW insurance, and want a company that is JUST OK about paying, then you have a 50/50 chance of being happy with AAA. However.. If you (like most insured) are not an "agent" or are not schooled in insurance, DO NOT TRUST AAA!!!!! They bank on the fact that you have none or very little true understanding of insurance and how it works. Do NOT expect to ever talk to the same person more then once, do NOT EVER, expect to get the same quality of service more then twice!! Do expect to loose coverage with any claim. Do expect that if you have a problem.. IT IS YOUR PROBLEM and NOT theirs!!!!!"

"Never had an issue w/ the homeowner policy, but the auto is nightmare. I mailed payment just a couple days before it was due. That same day my checkbook and wallet were stolen. I canceled everything, closed my bankaccounts and notified everyone that I'd be making other arrangemetns for payment. I forgot to contact AAA & of course the payment wound up being late. I was hit with roughly $100 in what I consider penalties. The following month it went to $150! And no one could explain in plain engligh why. They use some funky math to calculate the total monthly payment - you need a MBA in mathematics to understand - or perhaps figure out their scam. I'm done with them. A loyal customer with no claims, no points, nothing for over 15 years & they are willing to let me go for only $250. idiots! "

"well i filed two claims with aaa and i was disipointed both times the first time my car was vandilized in a hotel parking lot and triple aaa was i had scrathes, dents, and paint all over it the only thing aaa paid for was the removal of the paint now my car was stolen and they don't want to pay for it i'm paying full coverage thinking that i'm totally covered if i'm not they should stop saying that it's full coverage if it ain't i feel like i'm getting screwed cause i'm a woman"
2007-12-16 12:29:50 EST

"fighting AAA homeowners for almost four years for denying our claim because of an out of house adjuster AAA sent, who falsified information on his "report" resulting in denial of said claim."
2008-01-26 20:20:31 EST

"They deny claims based on falsified evaluations. As an example, they said that the damage to my fender, that was cracked and plastic parts were sticking out clearly indicating significant impact force, as normal "wear and tear". Customer service rude beyond any comparison. They might be cheaper than other auto insurance companies, but as a result they are probably the worst in claims adjustments."
2008-02-21 17:43:45 EST

"My family has had 4 accidents, 3 were not our fault. The Auto Club has handled each claim excpetionally well."
2008-03-14 15:17:40 EST

"I really like AAA I have never had a problem with them they are just a little expensive. But have good service"
2008-03-21 17:32:13 EST

"I had an accident in which the other person was clearly at fault - the claims adjuster mentioned that my claim could still go up because regardless of fault, but then couldn't then couldn't even provide me with a clear yes or no as to whether my insurance costs would be raised. And even though the other person did have valid insurance and their company stated to me that they did have coverage with them; my insurance company claimed that they were not insured and they would not help me. Also, in my latest accident, they told me that since my car was totalled - if the other person didn't have insurance (waiting to find out) that they would only pay me about 60% of the blue book value of my car (not even the actual low blue book value) and they said that was all they would ask of the other insurance company to pay as well. An atty I checked with was very surprised and said that didn't sound right, that normally it is the value of the car at the time it is totalled (not just percentage only)."
2008-03-31 20:35:23 EST

"After replacing an old shake roof with metal/steel, I thought my insurance would be cheaper. After calling AAA and the rep reviewing my policy they decided that the coverage amount (which they determined previously) wasn't enough, they raised my rates another $300+ per year. Bye Bye AAA!!!"
2008-04-03 15:21:18 EST

"Auto insurance pricing is very competitive but the homeowners insurance is a little pricy. Customer service is usually great but my experience with filing a claim was not too good. Claims managers have a high work load so you end up waiting alot during the whole process. My claim was finally paid and I was ultimately satisfied in the end, so I still recommend them."
2008-04-08 00:17:40 EST

"When I filed a claim their service was quick, courteous and professional. My vehicle was a write-off and I received a check within five business days for a very fair amount. Their premiums are probably a bit higher than other insurers, but the service is excellent."
2008-04-17 20:43:30 EST

"At one time, we called with an inquiry only - we didn't even attempt to file a claim. That was held against us when we did have occasion to file a claim on a different matter. The whole time, we were treated as though we were suspects and as though we were trying to get away with something...and we are definitely not the types to try to pull a fast one. If you're an honest person and like to be treated as such, stay away from AAA."
2008-04-22 09:36:42 EST

"they were priced25 percent less for the same coverage that i had. WAS THERE A CHOICE ?"
2008-05-04 07:11:08 EST

"AAA auto insurance is reasonably priced. Although I have not had an accident to evaluate their claim dept. so far so good. One thing I don't care about AAA is the fact that you must enroll in their membership in order to obtain their insurance. Although it's not much for single driver, it can add up when you have multiple drivers. Just another added costs that this insurance company adds to its customer. "
2008-05-16 19:24:08 EST

"California AAA is not sanctioned in the state of Oregon. If you have, even a small problem up there, it can blow up into an unbelievable mess."
2008-05-28 20:52:05 EST

"AAA has always backed me up, when I was in high-school under my parents policy they were very difficult dealing with when I needed a rental car but was under age, come to find out later I was able to get one, but they gave me a huge run around. However, for big issues they are a great company to have on your side."
2008-06-20 15:01:45 EST

"Their customer service is abysmal! I have been trying unsuccessfully to find out how good they at paying out on life insurance polcies. If they are as good as they are at everything else, customer service wise, the beneficiaries can expect to wait a very long time! "
2008-06-17 17:15:47 EST

"I've been with AAA for 20 years. Rates are fairly good. Numerous, :( , claims have been paid without much raise in rates for myself and daughter. Very courteous response from workers."
2008-06-18 15:15:20 EST

"Some branch offices really squeeze the vendors for sub-standard repairs including kludge fixes and non-factory parts without informing the vehicle owner. In one case I had a radiator "solder repair" fail within a couple of months resulting in engine damage. They are aggressive at raising rates whenever possible. "
2008-06-23 22:42:19 EST

"I had such a tough time with AAA. A car hit my car and that car had AAA. Terrible insurance. If someone with AAA hits you you are out of luck. "
2008-07-17 12:41:46 EST

"after my car was totaled, it took 2 months for us to even get a check because AAA does not have an agent in any town/city they deal by long distance phone calls, so you are out of luck trying to even talk or get to see you car. It is the worst insurance. In addition after the 2 months I got another car and called to add it to my policy. The agent never added the car for 10 days so I was driving the new car uninsured. That is AAA for you"
2008-07-26 07:48:30 EST

"AAA did not investigate auto accident fully and decided 3+ years after payout to sue me for the money back. They went as far as to call me a criminal for not telling them the details of the accident. I DID tell the claims adjuster, she messed up and didn't put it in the file. They didn't care"
2008-07-26 10:45:55 EST

"We have had AAA for about 12 years and never filed a claim. 2 months ago, we had water damage at our home and filed a claim. Up to this point, we have yet to be reimbursed for the cost it took to put the house back in order. "
