" Like someone else on this forum we had a hailstorm in Lake Orion Michigan in April 2014. All roofs on my court were replaced on homes that had insurance OTHER THAN AAA. My neighbor and I filed claims and received a pittance. We have grit filled gutters and AAA claims that the roof is not damaged and that grit loss is not covered and does not contribute to age. The roofer who came this week and gave me an estimate -- he has done 108 homes in this sub and had 1280 calls after the hail storm said AAA basically rejected all or all but 3 of the claims for new roofs filed by AAA members. To put it in perspective this cul de sac has 9-10 homes. Of homes that filed ALL were replaced...6-7 homes -- and they ALL had insurance other than AAA. The two me and my neighbor who had AAA were rejected and it's echoed all over the neighborhood and everyone I talked with said after this they like me are done with AAA. Been a member almost 40 years and I'm done."

"Have been a AAA customer for many years with no claims. On 4/12/14 a hailstorm came through our area. AAA has been awesome at not returning calls and poor customer service. Someone else called it "deny and stall". They're the best. Their adjuster recommended full replacement. AAA said his report was "inconclusive" and hired an engineering firm who of course disagreed. Five months later and I am nowhere with these people. What a sham."

"We've had aaa for 3years. Just recently rear-ended by another driver. The claim part went fast declared my car Totaled but as soon as they've done that all hell broke Loose. No more communication besides telling us afterOnly having a rental car a week we must return it. With no payment or even a pay out date leaving us without any form of transportation. Its been 5 weeks no payment and no vehicle"

"We had water damage from a neighbor above with another insurer.Two floors below also had damage.The other 3 have received their settlement. 4 months later we keep catching them in lies" waiting for the paperwork from their own adjuster.3 letters of that for 2 months.1 month waiting for him to come back to complete the damage assessment. He doesn't even answer his phone from the company? I would like to sue the 2 of them for intentionally dragging this out. They already missed their own date of payment as per the policy by 30 days. 4 months of living with damage we cannot repair because it will affect what they failed to see on the first visit while the water was still coming down.Wood splits. Electronics die. STAY AWAY FROM CSAA FORMERLY KNOWN AS AAA. "

"We have been with AAA for 14 years with no claims. We recently had a toilet problem which flooded our basement while away. Our claim has been a complete nightmare. The adjuster sent us our payout detail which is roughly half of what it will cost to bring our home back to previous condition. Each item was severely underestimated for example they are giving us 11.18 to have our entire bathroom floor regrouted. We have complained to the adjuster and keep getting the run- around. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this company. They are very good at accepting premiums but you are far from fully covered."

"AAA low quotes on sign up then plays cost catch up every yearly renewal time. In 4 years my car insuarance has gone up over 100.00 with no claims in 35 years. The same with my home policy. It pays to get many quotes with top rated companies."

"AAA is the most ate-up company that I've ever dealt with by far. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THEM TO MY WORST ENEMY...The Roadside Assistant coverage is great just don't take out any policies with them and if you do don't say I WE didn't warn you "

"Was rear ended a while back and was severely whiplashed they fixed my metal car with no problrm but said my neck injury was equivelent to a rollercoaster ride. To this day my neck has not been the same and I had to pay 1600. for treament on my own"

"Like most I requested quotes for auto and home as my then current insurer was beginning to get high after years of no claims. Contacted AAA and got quote and it was considerably less 17% than I was paying. Great and I signed up. Big mistake.I still have had no claims however every 6 months my cost go up. Last 3 examples are 11.31% 12.91% and 12.63%. I am now in the market again. It is a shame we can't get a straight answer. I now pay more for my insirance than I did with other company."

"We have had our homeowners insurance policy with AAA for over five years. During that time we have filed absolutely no claims. Today we received our renewal policy and discovered over a 100% increase in our premium from 986.00 per year to 1954.00 per year. They claim it is because of the PPC or Public Protection Classification fire department. We are horrified at the increase and will be looking for a new company tomorrow. Shame on AAA for such an abrupt and terrible increase to customers who pay on time have excellent credit and have never once took a claim out on our home. This is fraudulent as I believe AAA does not want to actually pay for the loss of homes in the Colorado and California wild fires so they are passing the cost to the "peasants" of their policy holders. "

"I requested my dependent to be put back in the policy for the summer. Usually I would get an online form that I can sign and submit back to them right away but this time I requested twice through two different agent and I still have not got it after 4 days. I was then sent a PDF file that I needed to print out and mail back or fax back to the agent. Although they did not send the online form I requested they have already sent me the bill for additional payment. This is only one instance that I am extremely unsatisfied with AAA. There have been many other instances that I wish I did not choose AAA. Not only AAA is more expensive than other insurance companies they do not take care of their customers. I would not recommend them to anyone. I am looking for another better insurance company. "

"I have been waiting a week after an accident to have a claims adjuster look at the car and decide if it is totaled or repairable. I went to lot car was being held to pick up something that was left in the car. The license plates had been pulled off and put in driver's side on the floor. The handle that opens the hood of the engine was broken off and laying next to plates. There is dirt on the inside of the drivers door that was not there before. Every time I have called to speak with the insurance agent I am told to leave a message and the call is returned several hours later. Plus the agent has called my car totaled when it has not even been looked at by an adjuster. "

"Having quoted multiple companies for all 3 of our cars and our homeowners we settled on AAA. Went all of the hassle of canceling changing over etc paid full annual bill for all 3 cars and homeowners. 6 weeks later we just received a bill saying our new rate for homeowners is almost doubled. No reason just raised rate after we had already paid. Unbelievable bait and switch"

"They claim there is a "discount" for multiple policies on the invoice no discount is ever shown. I called numerous times asking where the "discount" was NONE of the representative could explain where this alleged discount was. To me this a SCAM shame on them. I will hire a lawyer to look into this it is not appropiate what they are doing for so many years."

"AAA overcharges customers by insuring your home for hundreds of thousands more then it will cost to rebuild it. I now have my house insured for 152000.00 and AAA would only insure my house for 261000 it will only cost about 120000 to rebuild in case of total loss. So by making you pay for a larger amount they over charge all of their customers.AAA wanted 951.00 per year which includes Earth Quake ins. I am now paying 526.00 per year with another Company earth quake included.AAA HAS GOTTEN TO BIG FOR THEIR BRITCHES AND THEY ARE NO LONGER CUSTOMER FRIENDLY p.s. They also force you to be a member to carry ins. with them which will cost you another 48.00 per year minimum."

"My mother-in-law financed a car for her daughter. She insured the car through AAA we informed AAA that her daughter would be the primary driver After she was rear ended in a accident that was not her fault the are delaying the claim for evaluation even while admitting that the is named on the policy as the driver. There should be laws to punish this kind of delay and stressful tactic. I will campaign against AAA until my death. Never give them a dime bankrupt the crooks."

"This is the worst service I have ever had. I had no problems until my first claim and it was all down hill from there. It is not cheap and they WILL charge a termination fee if you cancel even one month early. I have never heard of this especially since I have had it for 8 years. DO NOT USE AAA."

"The service provided by the Agent is absolutely terrible. My Agent was unable to follow directions with the type of policy and coverage I was required to have due to my career. He institued a policy without my permission and charged me without having any documents signed or with my approal. I will not be staying with AAA."

"We paid for this insurance for five years. I want my money back. We had hail damage to our roof as well as internal damages. Our neighbors were able to get their roofs paid for. But AAA would not do anything with our roof because it was defective. They told us it was defective after they took our money for five years."

"My wife had an accident that was not her fault and AAA first said when looking at the photos they agreed my wife was not at fault and that they were going to go to arbitration with the other co. to get our deductible back. Now weeks later they say they have not gone to arbitration and might not ever go to arbitration and that we still have to pay the deductible unless the other drivers insurance decides to pay. Why would they ever decide to pay? "

"We changed insurance companies early in 2012and went to AAA. In May we received a letter saying they were cancelling our homeowners a/c the condition of our roof. We had about 15 days to either repair the roof or look for other insurance. Should not this have beenn looked at before they accepted our coverage?"

"AAA used to be top notch. I have been a member for over 35 years. Now....for the first time I am trying to file a claim and am being told I have to accept generic parts. "Every Insurance Company is great untill you file CLAIM WITH THEM. And then everything go down the hill. Your premium will go up for years and if you have more then 2-3 claims they will just simply close your account. They are out there for them self not for us. PERIOD. "

"AAA is really cheap when it comes to covering car claims. Body shops do not like them. they will only pay for cheap knock off parts and if the shop wants to get you the best parts they have to take the cut. They want you to go only to their approved shop where they have a deal worked out to do it cheap due to volume of claims from them. My hail damage was worth 2300 and my neighbors 3 cars were 2700-4300 from state farm. Shops recommend State farm or Auto owners or farm bureau. They are great for claims."

"I had a claim in the Bay Area but dealt with Colorado claims center. My home suffered water damage. After "4 months" I got a check. Never once did I call the adjuster that they did have me on hold for at least 25 minutes. Finally got to a manager and the girl was a witch My adjuster actually stated her boss was a hot head and to be careful. I pay for help by a respectful individual. I am not renewing. "

"Buyer beware. You can count on a horrific experience if you file a claim with AAA. Find a better carrier or arm yourself with action from your state attorney general insurance cabinet and Better Business Bureau. Our contractor concurs. "I accidently put a door ding in someones car with mine. I called AAA was told rate would not go up so I filed claim for other person. Rate went up 500 for a 133 claim and they wouldnt let me pay the 133 repair cost just laughed at me when I asked.Someone backed into my wifes car. AAA said take it in and get it repaired. They raised MY rate again because I had a claim I told them someone else backed into my car I found out who hit and run and the police filed the report Oh well I pay"

"I was hit by an impaired driver over two years ago and suffered broken bones internal injuries surgery and a closed head injury...AAA owes me two years of medical reinbursement and 2 years of wage loss. "Michigan no-fault right. I was rear-ended not my fault Seatbelt injuries neck numbness and pain in neck and fingers left hand. Tear in Laboral ligament left hip. Had to see their doctor. Said no way was there anything wrong with neck and arm. Never had anything wrong before. After Dr. report. 1 month had passed before they sent me a copy of report and said they will not pay anything more. They withheld my report so that gives me 1 week for any further treatment. This is BULL. There as dirty as they come. ALSO after my accident they raised my auto rates and you call this NO-FAULT. Goodby AAA. Hello Atttorney. "

"I dont usually post reviews on websites but in this case I think AAA customers should know that AAA may not cover you if youre in an accident. Ive been with AAA for almost 18 years and have had maybe one at fault accident during that time. I recently moved to a different city and when I was driving the U Haul I accidentally ran into a carport. I had the extra insurance with U Haul but U Hauls policy specifically excludes damage to carports. I called AAA and they said I wasnt covered under their policy because the truck weighed over 4000 lbs. So even though I had insurance with 2 carriers I got stuck with the bill. The damage was less than 4000 it would not have put AAA out of business. As a long term customer of AAA with a claim that wasnt going to break their bank AAA should have just handled it. But the real kicker was when I called AAA to give them my change of address they said my premium was going to increase by 680 because the rates were different in my new zip code. I would have laughed at them had my jaw not been on the floor. Seriously thats beyond absurd. AAA should be embarrassed for the way theyve handled myaccount. Needless to say I dropped AAA. Im now with an insurance company that will cover me when I get behind the wheel with no weight restrictions and am paying more than 1000 less than AAA wanted to charge me. Bottom line if you have AAA you should know that youre probably being overcharged for second rate customer service and incomplete coverage."

"Just weeks after we changed our auto insurance to AAA debris fell from a truck and smashed our vans side window. The glass fragments damaged the paint as well. The next day which was a holiday AAA sent a repairman to the house where we were staying and he replaced the window on site. They arranged for the paint to be repaired in our home town and it was done efficiently. Great service"

"I switched to AAA from State Farm. Biggest mistake of my life. I sent payments for auto home and umbrella policy by check for one year. When I received my policy I discovered that the type of coverage I wanted had not been provided. I called and received a suspicious response so I cancelled all 3 policies three weeks BEFORE they became active flat cancel. I received some of my money back but they still owe me 1440.00 - it has been approximately one month now. They keep telling me that it is being processed but I do not believe them. I have had to go to their offices twice and they act like I am at fault for being angry.Do yourself a favor and do NOT do business with this company"

"Called AAA on Memorial Day weekend and got an answering service who had no knowledge of my homeowners policy/coverage. They told me to call back on Tuesday when the office opened. Sr VP on Tuesday apologized and would investigate - no word yet - that was 2.5 weeks ago. Dont use for home coverage."

"AAA is by far one of the worst Insurance Companies out there. You pay so much money for coverage then when its time to use them they give you the hardest time. They do NOT give you the right amount of money that your car is worth we you get into an accident. "Had a claim for water danmage to carpeting in my finished basement. This was dur to a pipe that froze and burst flooding my basement with 3" of water. An adjuster was sent out quickly. He made his report. I received a check for amount that covered replacing the carpet. No problem. I am very satisfied with my experience with AAA. "

"When I asked the sales rep who sold me my policy, I was told I had all the coverage that I needed to ensure any damage due to water. I even bought the additional coverage needed to cover any sump pump failure. When I filed a claim 2 weeks ago, they came with a disclaimer outlined in the policy on why my claim was denied. I am filing a complaint with the IL Dept of Insurance and looking to seeking to contacting an attorney on this."

"My review is for AAA Utah, (underwritten by Western United). I was a 5 year customer with multiple auto and multiple homeowner’s policies. My girlfriend was pulled over and ticketed for being uninsured. Apparently our policy had not been renewed and we had been driving around uninsured for 4 months! I called the 800 number and they said a notice had been sent out, and did not admit to any fault whatsoever. I do not understand why nobody called me. Also, you must maintain your AAA membership. One time I accidentally let it expire and it was a huge mess. To their credit, they were excellent to work with then I filed my 1 claim. My advice is that they are very affordable when you have 1 car and/or renters insurance. Once you have homeowners insurance, go elsewhere."

"I changed to AAA from Progressive and I had good experience so far. They are responsive, resolve issues on time and have minimized the hassle for me. I also have gotten road side assistance pretty fast and easy a couple of times within the last 3 years."

"DO NOT get AAA!!!!!! Every time I call I always get a different quote or they raise the rate. Just today, they tried to screw me and my perfect driving record...no accidents or tickets in over 14 years. I was quoted $296 every 6 months for my vehicle and then they upped it to $693 every 6 months because my roommate has a horrendous driving record and per AAA, he has access to drive my vehicle even though I specifically told them he does not. They do not care about simple logic just your $$$!!!"

"I am amazed at the poor quality of service I received over a simple property theft claim we had to file while on vacation in Costa Rica. Upon return, we have been delayed, lied to, ignored and generally treated like we are an inconvenience to the salesman who sold the policy and the entire claims department. Do yourself a favor, stay away from AAA for your insurance needs."

"I got in a small fender bender on the 5 freeway in San Diego. There was a dent in the hood of my car. It drove perfectly. My AAA agent told me that if I paid my $500 deductible, they would fix it quickly. I took it to the shop they recommended and three weeks later was told that my car was a total loss and was no longer drivable. They took it apart to assess the damage and were unwilling to return it to me in the condition in which I brought it to them. The weird part is that by ruining a perfectly good car, they also ruined the only reason I had to do business with them. Horrible experience. "

"I had a water leak from my dishwasher where the water went between my tile floor and the subfloor. As soon as the water started coming up from the tile I notified AAA about my water leak. They sent out their emergency team aka evalauation team, which surprise surprise determined that this was a "long term leak" and was excluded from coverage. The decision of a "long term leak" is anything that is leaking for over a week. After I was told that they would not be covering my claim, I asked what types of water leaks are covered by my insurance. They told me only sudden leaks and when a pipe bursts. I asked if that meant they were going to send out a mop to help clean up those types of claims and that they should consider themselves crooks for not providing insurance for serious leaks with serious damage. Watch out - the emergency team they send to your house is looking to find a way to NOT COVER your claim vs provide the emergency services AAA states are being provided. All my friends and family I spoke with about this have had leaks in the past and the insurance took care of it, all of them were shocked that I was not covered. BUY YOUR INSURANCE SOMEWHERE ELSE, DON"T TRUST AAA."

"We switched both our homeowners and car insurance to AAA as appeared to be cheaper and is supposedly a reputable company, after all, they rate other companies. After about a month, they cancelled our homeowners as our furnace is 45 years old and this is too risky!How about telling us that before we changed all the insurance.Our oil company who regularly services the furnace says it is in great condition even tho they wud have made money out of us changing it. I was told by our agent that they wud work it out and everything wud be ok. I was told I was getting a letter to say so. When no such letter came I had to call again and was told actually it was NOT okay but our agent cud change us to their sister company and the insurance cost wud be the same. Took over a week to receive the paperwork, despite me going to the AAA office and not being given a copy. I was assured that the coverage was in no way inferior to the previous one. Have just received it and it is over $200 per year more for $40,000 less coverage!!! So either I have been continuously lied to or AAA is totally incompetent. You decide."

In NH for a total loss the value of the vehicle must be based upon "average retail value", then adjusted for condition, milage etc (NH Ins 1002.15) - this was not even close to what was offered (their base came in at $3k less than the retail value) I will b e looking for a new insurer. "I have had AAA home owners insurance and auto insurance. I recently had to file a claim due to water damage from ice dams. During an ice storm, I had ice dams form on both sides of my house. The ice sheild of the roof goes up the standard 3 ft, but due to the severity of the storm, the ice dams grew to 5 ft and leaked on both sides of the house, the entire length of the house. AAA said that since it occured on two sides of the house it had to be split into two claims, essentially doubling my deductable. They were horrible to deal with. I had to cover over $10,000 worth of work myself, before I ever got a cent from AAA. Now I have two claims on my record (for the same date). Horrible company... avoid them like the plague. "

"I filed a claim for an underinsured motorist at fault who hit my car. I ended up in the hospital with brain surgery. I've been treated by AAA claims dept as if I was trying to get away with something unethical. Very adversary attitude, rude and unsympathetic in helping out. "Not the same as it used to be. Their customer service has steadily gone downhill since they closed branches. You used to deal with the same broker when you had questions or claims. Now you talk to someone new each time you call. My premium skyrocketed without any accidents or claims. They recorded the wrong mileage on my car (about 5,000 higher than actual) and told me that I would have to wait until it was time to renew before they would re-evaluate my rate! "After my original agent retired I was assigned a new agent. When I needed a new policy she did not return phone calls or emails. When I complained through customer service and demanded a new agent I did get a new agent. He verifed that I did pay on my new policies, MY OLD POLICY WAS NEVER CANCLED BUT HE WOULD CORRECT IT. Two months later, my mortgage company informed my I had no homeowners coverage! Even though I was assured I did from my AAA agent, and I still had not recieved a refund from my old policy. "I signed with AAA. I had a 6 month policy and during that period of time I decided that I no longer need the AAA Roadside assistance, so I never renewed my membership. Later on I received a letter from the DMV stating that my registration is about to get terminated since I don't have insurance. "I recently bought a foreclosed house in this economic downturn. I relied heavily on home inspectors, my own, as well as aaa's. Assuming AAA was going to cover there you know what. They took my money up front then cancelled a month later because pool was less that 10 feet from slope. They could have told me this up front. Their inspector said nothing. If you (like most insured) are not an "agent" or are not schooled in insurance, DO NOT TRUST AAA!!!!! They bank on the fact that you have none or very little true understanding of insurance and how it works. Do NOT expect to ever talk to the same person more then once, do NOT EVER, expect to get the same quality of service more then twice!! Do expect to loose coverage with any claim. Do expect that if you have a problem.. IT IS YOUR PROBLEM and NOT theirs!!!!!"

"I have had AAA for 4 years. This year I had a water damage claim and a hail damage claim. Both were paid quickly and in full. What you have to watch out for are the adjusters. They are contracted out so you never know who you’re going to get. Be informed and get quotes before they show up."

"I got a quote for $110 per month at first, and then I got the policy and statement, It went to $150 per month, at the end of first month, they raise my liability insurance $270 per year just because I moved 3 miles away within the same town. At the second month, they withdraw from my account $194 dollars, and add another new insurance charge for $154, there is no explanation for why!!!, near the end of the third month, I was charged for $213, I ask the agent why, she didn't know why...., I cancelled the policy right away. And they send me another statement right away; I still owe them $74 dollars!!! what a nightmare!!! Insured with them for only 80 days, they charged me almost $800 dollars!!! Double the original quotation and more....never again! AAA, I switch to Geico, $650 for 6 months...."

"A truck lost a tire on the 10 freeway at 3am back in September. I hit it right after it came off the truck. The Auto Club assessor told the repair shop to do minimal repairs. I found three major items that had not been repaired after picking up my car, (including the brakes!), and the Auto Club denied the repair costs, telling me I must have had a second accident right after I picked up the car! Then they sent me a letter telling me they were listing me as 'at fault' on the collision! Stay well away!"

"Very tricky company. Steers you the wrong way. Claims process is a bit long and feels as if they are "playing a game" with you. Although rates have been low, client satisfaction for myself is poor."

"Have only filed one homeowner's claim and that was handled well. What I don't like is the auto insurance. When my daughter got her permit we bought her an old car and put the minimum coverage on it. The rate on my car went up because she was listed as the "rated driver", even though she was listed on the other car and didn't even have her license! When I asked my agent about it, he said it didn't affect my rate. When we bought a newer car for her and she got her license, my insurance was cut in half because she was listed on my car! In other words, my agent totally lied to me the first time I asked about it. They did this to my friend also...automatically list the new driver on the most expensive car on the policy...even though the new driver has another car. Easy way to rip people off. We are currently looking into switching companies. I feel betrayed. Plus, we have never filed a claim in the 20 years we've had auto coverage with them."

"We received a notice saying they would cancel us because "dwelling is not owner occupied as required". We do, indeed, live in the insured property full-time. I encourage anyone who has AAA to cancel and switch to my old insurance company, American Family Insurance. "

"We had hail damage to our roof. They flip-flopped -- first said they'd pay for repairs, then went back on their word. Finally settled for a 1/3 payment of the replacement. Cost us $18,000 out of pocket. Still waiting for additional settlement on siding and paint that wasn't satisfactorally repaired with their coverage. Interesting that other insurance companies are paying 100% for our neighbors' roofs. AAA people are stubborn and give a lot of lip service without action. We won't renew, even if another carrier costs more."

"Months after a fire at my house, we've settled only the first phase(fire damage to structure) of a 3 phase settlement(then personal property, then displacement costs). Despite enhanced coverage, they move at the speed of molasis. I do not recommend this company to anyone."

"I reported water damage to my condo 3 weeks ago, and the adjuster has only called me once. I have yet to have an appraiser call me to look at the damage, and I there is a 2 foot wide hole in my ceiling!"
