"I had a rental house roof damaged by hail last summer and they only paid 70% of the costs because it was a rental. We had replacement cost insurance.
We canceled Grinnell Mutual after having them for 31 years and had 5 small claims with them."

"Had a roof blow off in a storm on May 8th, 2009. The insurance company said to do whatever was possible to prevent further damage. Tarp was put on roof. Claims adjuster said his computer program said our roof should be able to be fixed for XXX dollars. 3 roofing companies quoated a price 6K higher than the insurance computer program. Back and forth for 4 months with little help from the insurance company, tarp tears from exposure for 2 months. Last storm destroys interior of building at a cost of 10 times the amount the adjuster was afraid to spend on a new roof. Now the claim is huge and could have been prevented if they would have addressed the claim sooner."
