"I have been with Guide One for 11 years. I had two claims with them, no problem. After adding my teenager to the policy my rate definitely went up. I began to get quotes from other insurance companies and some were quite lower. I began to research those companies (scary). I had second thoughts about switching. You have heard the saying "You get what you pay for". Cheaper does not alway mean better. I decided to stay with Guide One."

"We have church policy with Guideone. After nearly a $100,000 flood damage claim, they have refused payment. Even though we have the correct coverage in place. If I had another policy, I'd tear it up and run to another company. RUN NOW!!!"

"GUIDE ONE REFUSES TO PAY THE ENGINEERING FEES MANDATED (STATE SAYS WE HAVE TO HAVE AN ENGINEER DRAW & STAMP OUR PLANS)TO BUILD OUR NEW BUILDING. WE NEED MORE S/F IN OUR BUILDING FOR THE SAME # OF SEATS DUE TO REGULATIONS FROM PA DEPT OF L&I. THEY ALSO ATTEMPTED TO GIVE US A NEW ASSESSED VALUE AFTER OUR LOSS WHEN WE ARE ON AN "AGREED VALUE" POLICY. LESS THAN STELLAR PERFORMANCE SO FAR. DIFFICULT TO DEAL WITH."

"They gladly accept premiums, but when it comes to paying out on a claim they take their time and find everyway out of paying a fair amount. They are crooks!"

"Our church was hit hit by a tornado and suffered nearly $250,000 in damage. GuideOne was very slow to respond and very quick to challenge the credibility of damage. It was a full three months before our initial settlement was reached with GuideOne. Do not ever use this company!"

"Raised rates on me within a year. Informed me that my credit rating had dropped (it hadn't - rated at 803). All my conversations with the agent always seemed as if they are super picky about things. Makes me question whether claims would be processed quickly and without a lot of hassle."

"Guide One forms are difficult to fill out and the company does not offer any help to those of us who are trying to fill out their forms. They seek to stall the process by repeatedly asking for more and more information and waiting for 30 days to respond to data provided by their clients. There also seems to be an unwillingness to meet and be clear about what is covered in the policy.
For a company that only works with churches because churches are not rip off artists, they appear to be the wolves in the sheep pen. "

"I have had the same agent for 10 years, and have been very happy. I have a few minor auto claims, but just filed my first homeowners claim. The adjuster was at my house in 2 days, and actually pointed out some things that I had missed. Interesting to note that he works out of the same office as my agent. For those of you with negative reviews, I think it could be your agent, not the company as a whole."

"We are in the middle of a fire claim and we're very dissatifed with the handling of our claim so far. They offer us absolutely no help. All they seem to tell us is the many very expensive items that are not covered; now my agent tells me! We are overwhelmed with all the many things we are trying to do ourselves with no help from our so called "adjuster" and our agent. By state law, we only have so many days to compile a list of destroyed items, get the many requested estimates and proof of ownership, and replacement cost prices of the destroyed items. We are obsolutely exhausted and frustrated and get no help from GuideOne. We are greatly disappointed with our GuideOne agent, who took our premiums for over 17 years without ever coming by our house again to see what we have accummulated. And,unfortunately, we will not receive a dime for many items that I would have gladly paid extra for, had I only known that they weren't covered. This company is having a field day with us, don't let them get to you!"

"They will do whatever it takes not to pay a claim. There ins agents will mislead and not follow through on what he says coverage. Very rude and hard to deal with. "

"I had hail damage to my roof and siding. They acted promptly to replacing my roof. They took a bit longer on my siding, but replaced all sides of my house. My local agent has been great! "

"I have filed auto claims as well as homeowners claims and have been treated very professionally by all involved. They have been prompt to pay any claim that I have made in the 15 plus years of using them."

"This company relies on third party adjustors and then refuses to listen to the adjustors reports. They are lacking in their customer service skills. I would never recommend this company."
