"Humana told my pharmacy that I can only take half of my medication prescribed by my doctor. Apparently it is fun practicing medicine without a license.Also their communication center is absolutely horrible. After waiting a week for their answer on a very specific question I got the following answer I did not make any changes to this whatsoever Dear insert member name Thank you for your recent inquiry submitted through the Humana Message Center.Thank you for contacting Humana to receive guidance when you need it most. Also could one get any more generic by not answering anything at all?I'm amazed by the incompetence. I would not recommend it to even my most bitter enemy."
"Last year I had 2 ER and 1 urgent care visit related to kidney stones. I have a 5000 deductible of which I paid in full while Humana covered te rest plain and simple. But this year after Obama care hit I've had nothing but problems both with billing and claims. I chose this insurance because of its maternity coverage which I'm told is only covered in my state of CO. Many claims including routine labs at various months of pregnancy have been denied. Customer service can only tell me these claims were denied because they were given the wrong codes from the provider. These codes are standard and universal across the board with OB providers. They will find any reason not to pay. Billing has been an even bigger nightmare...double drafted my checking account last month admitted their mistake and refunded me half within 10 days. I called the day before this months draft confirming the amount to be drafted and was promised what happened last month would not happen again. Was alerted by my bank today that they did in fact double draft agin causing my checking account to overdraft resulting in 105.00 in fees. I'm 6 weeks away from delivery and maternity leave. My broker has said that in 15 years of practice he's never seen such gross incompetence and they are by far the rosy insurance company to del with. Wish I was warned before I accepted the policy. Stay far away and never allow auto withdrawl from your account. It gives them too much control. "
"Re Humana Gold Plus HMO-went to my PCP and the PCP recommend lab work and sent my steps down the hall to lab at the her office. Lab was out of network and claim denied. I trusted the PCP to direct me in network since it is a HMO. Now I owe the entire bill. I should have stayed with Medicare.These doctor's are cheating people out of covered charges by sending them to offices that they have connections with. It should be illegal."
"Was told in November 2013 that I could shift policy principal to my wife in February 2014. Confirmed in December 2013 sent transfer request in mid January 2014 as directed. Told on Feb 3 2014 that they changed their policy in December and would not transfer principal after 12/31/13 and that their staff was misinformed to tell me otherwise. They took payment out of my bank account for February and I cancelled policy. Still waiting for refund of February. I call them every 2 to 3 days and get plenty of apologies and re-application for refund. Humana is the worst company of any kind that I have ever dealt with in 40 years. They are not credible. They will not put anything in writing and they will not connect you to a supervisor they're always busy or unavailable. "
"I have Humana Federal Advantage for my dental coverage. The plan was great for my family when we lived in Washington DC but now that we live in South Carolina it has turned in to a problem. Every time I call Humana to verify that a dentist on their website of participating providers is indeed participating/preferred they give me and the dental practice a different answer. I have actually voice recorded these conversations where the same person gives me contradictory answers in the same conversation. Call and speak to another Humana rep and I got yet another answer. Finally I asked for an answer in writing "is doctor 'A' a preferred provider or not." and Humana refused to give me the answer in writing or provide me with a list of names in writing of which dentists I could go to. Of course before any of this happened all five of my family members had already started a treatment plan since Humana and the dentist both said they were participating but now I get to wait and see what happens next with my claims. What a JOKE. Human won't put it in writing b/c they have no intention of standing by their word."
