NetQuote.com

WHO ARE THEY?

NetQuote.com is an online insurance broker that works with both independent and company agents. They are, according to the link to their agents’ page, “in the business of helping insurance agents…”

EASY TO USE:

NetQuote’s home page as of December, 2005, is very simple. It asks the question “Paying too much for insurance?” You key in your zip code and you’re on your way to getting a quote for auto, homeowner’s, health or life insurance. I did have a bit of trouble with one function when it asked if my vehicle is used for commuting to work or for pleasure. When I entered “pleasure,” it ignored me and asked for the number of days and miles I commute to work. Then it wouldn’t take “none” for an answer. I put “one” to move on! Like all of the other websites providing insurance quotes, NetQuote wants to know about your DUIs, tickets, accidents, and claims in the past 5 years.

SAVES TIME & MONEY:

In about 15 minutes I had answered their questions. When I got to the end and I put in the contact information as requested, I realized that I’m not going to get an instant group of quotes like some of the other online insurance sites. I’m going to get e-mails and phone calls from several insurance agents. Since I don’t like getting calls from agents, I didn’t press, “enter”. I can’t tell you if NetQuote would have saved me any money—you’ll have to try it yourself. But, I can tell you that if you want instant results without having to talk to several agents, you might want to try another site. If you actually prefer talking to a live person, this might be the right option for you.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

NetQuote.com gathers your information, and then provides leads to agents who call or e-mail you to give you their sales pitch. This site does not promise to get you a quote in 5 or 10 minutes. It does not promise to save you hundreds of dollars. It only says it will provide you with “Free Insurance Quotes.” Most of the other online insurance venders, brokers and agents offer “free quotes”, but without the personal email or phone contact. If you prefer receiving your quotes via contact with several agents, this is the site to use.
