Health Insurance Q & As

Question 2 of 5 in Health Insurance Decisions For Domestic Partners
I see a category called “family” health coverage and the price is lower than the individual age-bracketed price. Can my domestic partner and I qualify as a family? Would it matter if we had a child too?
If you live in a State that recognizes Domestic Partnerships, and you and your partner meet whatever requirements the State has established to prove your status, you will be able to buy family coverage. Do not ALWAYS assume this coverage is the best pricing, though: some policies are written for individuals only, and purchasing three separate policies might be a better way to get coverage. In fact, some companies offer policies aimed specifically at children or teenagers, and price them very attractively for those age groups.
