"Worst company ever. If you file a claim for your house they will find a way not to pay you or under estimate the repairs so it comes out of your deductible. For cars you are dealing with bunch of crooks AAA gang with the workshop to do the minimum repairs. They will never replace the damaged parts although AAA adjustor stated in his reports parts to be replaced, but the workshop found out more damages so they decided to repair everything not to replace it. It is a disgrace."

"I have been a member OF AAA over 20 years. AAA constantly increases your premiums regardless of your good record. If you do file a claim for property loss they find a way not to cover or substantially under pay."

"Worst ever only received 90 when I cancelled. This is a company through AAA Called Foremost. I paid almost 400 a month and thats all I got back. Kept asking me for all this info for which they shouldve already had. You can tell they did not want to give me a penny more. Dont waste your money on this crooked fraudulent insurance company."

"AAA is OK with Auto ins. They are a scam with homeowners, they will NOT pay claims on homes damaged by storms. The adjusters get bonuses by NOT approving legit claims. Buyer beware"

"I switched to AAA after more than 10 years with Mercury, my co worker convinced me that they have superior service. Last year I had to file a claim with AAA and I can see a huge difference with the way both companies handle claims. Mercury came out on top, they always returned my phone calls, even though I wasn't satisfied with the one adjuster, at least she always returned my phone calls, as a courtesy. AAA's adjuster never returned my calls, Would only call me when they need info. I got my car fixed pretty fast with Mercury, appraisal is done the same day I take my car to the repair shop and usually it's fixed in 3 days, I get a survey to ask how they did and even after the case was closed, they still helped me when the other insurance company failed to reimburse me for my rental car. AAA on the other hand took a longer time appraising my vehicle, I finally got my car after 11 days, I also had a dash cam that made it easier for AAA to help me win the case, so I can't imagine how horrible it would be if I didn't have the dash cam. I was never given a survey to ask how they did. Months later, I found out after trying to get a quote from other insurance company that AAA reported the accident to DMV that I was at fault. At least I know now that my co worker is wrong. It's day and night with Mercury coming out on top."

"We have been faithful clients for over 30 years, but due to a VERY MINOR mistake on our part we admit it and where other companies would try to retain you as a faithful client they decided it wasn't worth the effort to resolve the issue and keep us as clients. I guess AAA is so big we are just a number. Their customer service leaves A LOT to be desired. FYI we had 5 cars and 2 homes with AAA If I hear anyone saying they are with AAA or thinking going with them I will remind them of my experience and warn them about their lack of customer service."

"In my last month I reported a change of address for 1 of 2 cars on my policymy teenagers car they said they wont honor any claims if she moved out so I told them if they won't honor any claims then take it off since i was paying more than others car payments in insurance. The next day I had to pay 150 to another company for her then AAA who told me my policy would go up 147 because I lost the multivehicle discount they went from a balance of 432 to 4,690 They justify it by saying things like 'well you had an accident' and 'you took off a vehicle losing your multipolicy discount' as if i had a choice This is highway robbery It would have been cheaper to pay the claim out of my pocket apparently they want the money for the claim and then some and if i switch to another company they will still have me owing them over 4,690 all for removing one car and one teenager My renewal is is exactly 30 days away and i'll be damned if they think I will renew. I want to report them to the state and the BBB and see if that helps."

"CSAA is by far the worst insurance company you would want to deal with in the event of a claim. They will run you around, ignore you and then speak to you as if you are yesterdays trash. You would think knowing you were not at fault, they would be helpful. Wrong They are rude, condescending, and most of all completely ignorant of your legal rights. The adjusters are so stressed out from the management and claim loads they take it out on the claimant. The insurance industry is a seedy and deceptive business. CSAA will prove it to you without blinking an eye. Do not expect them to be there for you, only to keep the hand extended to take your premiums."

"My auto got damaged by a hit and run driver. Thankfully their was an eye witness. He got a photo of the car with the license plate. I filed a police report and had all of the owners information. Gave it to AAA. They said I would need to pay the 500.00 deductible until they could get it from the other insurance company. It's been over a month and I finally heard back from AAA saying unfortunately they didn't have any luck finding the owner. I tracked the owner myself, found the address where she recently moved, got photos of the damage on her car where she hit mine, took a picture of the VIN number and sent all the information to AAA. You would have thought they would acknowledge my email after doing all of the leg work for them. Nope, haven't heard back from them, still waiting for my deductible. I think I may end up filing a court case against the driver. How much more information could I have gotten for AAA to act on this?>>"

">I have a claim with AAA right now. They chose not to disclose that my home needed an abatement and mold remediation after water damage. Now two and a half years of being exposed to high levels 4000 psiof mold and asbestos, they refused to take responsibility until our State inspector got involved after a month in a half of living in a hotel.>The subcontractors they hired did not follow protocol from the Environmental Hygienists and did the process backwards. They had a mold clearance done before air ducts and vents were serviced. Therefore, they blew all the mold spores back into the 2,200 sqft. house. >We can't move in with out the clearance because the high levels has caused respiratory and other issues for me and my family.>Now the AAA again is refusing to pay for renovations, food and lodging because the subcontractor they hired was actually milking the clock. They were in my home from 8/15 to 12/15. >The adjuster asked to meet my contractor at the property because she is not familiar with the construction industry and the language. When my contractor arrived, she had another contractor with her. She never mentioned this to either of us. I made a complaint to my insurance commissioner about my suspicions.>The following Monday, I received a call from the mysterious contractor telling me he's be assigned to renovate my property. He said he was chosen by my adjuster because he uses exacto mate. I informed the insurance commissioner of the phonr call. I can't find any general contractors to work at depreciated labor and materials.. >AAA has tried on two occasions for me to pay for there responsibility. They told the Environmental Hygienist and the restoration company to bill me for their services before the Health Inspector got involved. Consumers need to stick together. "

"We have had AAA insurance on home and auto for about 7 years. We have had an auto claim which they paid out very fairly and a liability auto claim that they helped us to recover. We have had a major homeowners claim that on the whole we were happy with. They paid it out and got the work done, got personal property replaced and paid for temporary housing for 11 months while repairs were being done. Communication could have been better which would have allowed us to make better decisions on a couple of points but on the whole everything went much quicker and smoother than many of our neighbors. tornado went through the area We have had no problems with outrageous increases even after the $170,000+ homeowners claim or the auto claims. "I am a Kindergarten teacher that has auto and home insurance with AAA for over 13 years. Following my second home claim, AAA has deemed me unacceptable and a hazard for risk of future loss. AAA is terminating my home insurance because I filed a claim. I have paid more in premiums over the 13 years than the two small claims that were filed. Apparently, AAA wants to insure you only up to the point when you need them. Then they don't want your business anymore. I will be canceling my auto insurance with AAA as well. God forbid if I get into my first car accident after 13 years of membership, I'm sure they will drop me like a hot potato. "

In California our a-holes in Sacramento allows these creeps 60 days to cancel you. In my case it is "too close to a canyon." She was covered on both my and my ex husbands CSAA auto policies. Once the other driver was found at fault CSAA abandoned us. They never sent an adjuster to the hospital to take photos of my daughter 's injuries nor did they interview her or any of the witnesses. After i see they charged me i called to request the refund and 20 phone calls later it was approved but will take 20 business days for a check to be issued. This is ridiculous time to wait for the money i need that wasnt supposed to be taken out in the first place. If you can take the money out of my account automaticly you can put it back in directly. You and your seemingly incompetent employees made the mistake not me. I wouldnt recomend this company because you customer service is absolutely a joke. "

To get it they required that I increase my auto insurance to 500k limits. At this point I was ok with the total price of the quote that they charged. They then sent me a notice of a premium increase. They want their money immediately or they threaten to cancel us. I smell bait and switch. I plan to shop around for a better company. From the tone of these other posts I'm glad I'm ending our AAA experience before they screw us too."

" Like someone else on this forum we had a hailstorm in Lake Orion Michigan in April 2014. All roofs on my court were replaced on homes that had insurance OTHER THAN AAA. My neighbor and I filed claims and received a pittance. We have grit filled gutters and AAA claims that the roof is not damaged and that grit loss is not covered and does not contribute to age. The roofer who came this week and gave me an estimate -- he has done 108 homes in this sub and had 1280 calls after the hail storm said AAA basically rejected all or all but 3 of the claims for new roofs filed by AAA members. To put it in perspective this cul de sac has 9-10 homes. Of homes that filed ALL were replaced...6-7 homes -- and they ALL had insurance other than AAA. The two me and my neighbor who had AAA were rejected and it's echoed all over the neighborhood and everyone I talked with said after this they like me are done with AAA. Been a member almost 40 years and I'm done."

Someone else called it "deny and stall". They're the best. Their adjuster recommended full replacement. AAA said his report was "inconclusive" and hired an engineering firm who of course disagreed. He doesn't even answer his phone from the company? I would like to sue the 2 of them for intentionally dragging this out. They already missed their own date of payment as per the policy by 30 days. 4 months of living with damage we cannot repair because it will affect what they failed to see on the first visit while the water was still coming down.Wood splits. "We have been with AAA for 14 years with no claims. We recently had a toilet problem which flooded our basement while away. Our claim has been a complete nightmare. The adjuster sent us our payout detail which is roughly half of what it will cost to bring our home back to previous condition. Each item was severely underestimated for example they are giving us 11.18 to have our entire bathroom floor regrouted. We have complained to the adjuster and keep getting the run- around. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this company. They are very good at accepting premiums but you are far from fully covered."

"We have had our homeowners insurance policy with AAA for over five years. During that time we have filed absolutely no claims. Today we received our renewal policy and discovered over a 100% increase in our premium from 986.00 per year to 1954.00 per year. They claim it is because of the PPC or Public Protection Classification fire department. We are horrified at the increase and will be looking for a new company tomorrow. Shame on AAA for such an abrupt and terrible increase to customers who pay on time have excellent credit and have never once took a claim out on our home. This is fraudulent as I believe AAA does not want to actually pay for the loss of homes in the Colorado and California wild fires so they are passing the cost to the "peasants" of their policy holders. Usually I would get an online form that I can sign and submit back to them right away but this time I requested twice through two different agent and I still have not got it after 4 days. I was then sent a PDF file that I needed to print out and mail back or fax back to the agent. Although they did not send the online form I requested they have already sent me the bill for additional payment. This is only one instance that I am extremely unsatisfied with AAA. There have been many other instances that I wish I did not choose AAA. Not only AAA is more expensive than other insurance companies they do not take care of their customers. I would not recommend them to anyone. I am looking for another better insurance company. "

"I have been waiting a week after an accident to have a claims adjuster look at the car and decide if it is totaled or repairable. I went to lot car was being held to pick up something that was left in the car. The license plates had been pulled off and put in driver's side on the floor. The handle that opens the hood of the engine was broken off and laying next to plates. There is dirt on the inside of the drivers door that was not there before. Every time I have called to speak with the insurance agent I am told to leave a message and the call is returned several hours later. Plus the agent has called my car totaled when it has not even been looked at by an adjuster. "

I now have my house insured for 152000.00 and AAA would only insure my house for 261000 it will only cost about 120000 to rebuild in case of total loss. So by making you pay for a larger amount they over charge all of their customers.AAA wanted 951.00 per year which includes Earth Quake ins. I am now paying 526.00 per year with another Company earth quake included.AAA HAS GOTTEN TO BIG FOR THEIR BRITCHES AND THEY ARE NO LONGER CUSTOMER FRIENDLY p.s. They also force you to be a member to carry ins. with them which will cost you another 48.00 per year minimum."

Body shops do not like them. they will only pay for cheap knock off parts and if the shop wants to get you the best parts they have to take the cut. They want you to go only to their approved shop where they have a deal worked out to do it cheap due to volume of claims from them. My hail damage was worth 2300 and my neighbors 3 cars were 2700-4300 from state farm. Shops recommend State farm or Auto owners or farm bureau. They are great for claims."

"I dont usually post reviews on websites but in this case I think AAA customers should know that AAA may not cover you if youre in an accident. Ive been with AAA for almost 18 years and have had maybe one at fault accident during that time. I recently moved to a different city and when I was driving the U Haul I accidentally ran into a carport. I had the extra insurance with U Haul but U Hauls policy specifically excludes damage to carports. I called AAA and they said I wasnt covered under their policy because the truck weighed over 4000 lbs. So even though I had insurance with 2 carriers I got stuck with the bill. The damage was less than 4000 it would not have put AAA out of business. As a long term customer of AAA with a claim that wasnt going to break their bank AAA should have just handled it. But the real kicker was when I called AAA to give them my change of address they said my premium was going to increase by 680 because the rates were different in my new zip code. I would have laughed at them had my jaw not been on the floor. Seriously thats beyond absurd. AAA should be embarrassed for the way theyve handled myaccount. Needless to say I dropped AAA. Im now with an insurance company that will cover me when I get behind the wheel with no weight restrictions and am paying more than 1000 less than AAA wanted to charge me. Bottom line if you have AAA you should know that youre probably being overcharged for second rate customer service and incomplete coverage."

My girlfriend was pulled over and ticketed for being uninsured. Apparently our policy had not been renewed and we had been driving around uninsured for 4 months! I called the 800 number and they said a notice had been sent out, and did not admit to any fault whatsoever. I do not understand why nobody called me. Also, you must maintain your AAA membership. One time I accidentally let it expire and it was a huge mess. To their credit, they were excellent to work with then I filed my 1 claim. My advice is that they are very affordable when you have 1 car and/or renters insurance. Once you have homeowners insurance, go elsewhere."

I took it to the shop they recommended and three weeks later was told that my car was a total loss and was no longer drivable. "I had a water leak from my dishwasher where the water went between my tile floor and the subfloor. As soon as the water started coming up from the tile I notified AAA about my water leak. They sent out their emergency team aka evalauation team, which surprise surprise determined that this was a "long term leak" and was excluded from coverage. The decision of a "long term leak" is anything that is leaking for over a week. After I was told that they would not be covering my claim, I asked what types of water leaks are covered by my insurance. They told me only sudden leaks and when a pipe bursts. I asked if that meant they were going to send out a mop to help clean up those types of claims and that they should consider themselves crooks for not providing insurance for serious leaks with serious damage. Watch out - the emergency team they send to your house is looking to find a way to NOT COVER your claim vs provide the emergency services AAA states are being provided. All my friends and family I spoke with about this have had leaks in the past and the insurance took care of it, all of them were shocked that I was not covered. BUY YOUR INSURANCE SOMEWHERE ELSE, DON"T TRUST AAA."

After about a month, they cancelled our homeowners as our furnace is 45 years old and this is too risky! How about telling us that before we changed all the insurance. Our oil company who regularly services the furnace says it is in great condition even tho they wud have made money out of us changing it. I was told by our agent that they wud work it out and everything wud be ok. I was told I was getting a letter to say so. When no such letter came I had to call again and was told actually it was NOT okay but our agent cud change us to their sister company and the insurance cost wud be the same. Took over a week to receive the paperwork, despite me going to the AAA office and not being given a copy. I was assured that the coverage was in no way inferior to the previous one. Have just received it and it is over $200 per year more for $40,000 less coverage!!! So either I have been continuously lied to or AAA is totally incompetent. You decide."

In NH for a total loss the value of the vehicle must be based upon "average retail value", then adjusted for condition, milage etc (NH Ins 1002.15) - this was not even close to what was offered (their base came in at $3k less than the retail value) I will b e looking for a new insurer. They have been very good right up to the point where I needed them."

"It has been 6 months and I still have not had a resolution to the increase in my homeowner insurance. I have been shuffled from one agent to another, all who have a message on their phone stating that they will return the call by the end of the day---NOT! When I asked for a copy of the document in question (apparently it shows that I had no garage), I was never provided the doc. Now, this LA Cost Center manager who promised a copy is not taking my calls or following through. I have been a member for 37 years. WOW.. this is how a long standing member is treated. Shameful. "

When I got an accident they told me they could not honor the claim because they had not received payment ... AND THIS WAS BECAUSE THEIR STAFF SCREWED UP ... AAA is just a front, they dont really handle insurance (their underwriters do) and they are incompetent ... NEVER AGAIN ..."

"I have had AAA home owners insurance and auto insurance. I recently had to file a claim due to water damage from ice dams. During an ice storm, I had ice dams form on both sides of my house. The ice sheild of the roof goes up the standard 3 ft, but due to the severity of the storm, the ice dams grew to 5 ft and leaked on both sides of the house, the entire length of the house. AAA said that since it occured on two sides of the house it had to be split into two claims, essentially doubling my deductable. They were horrible to deal with. I had to cover over $10,000 worth of work myself, before I ever got a cent from AAA. Now I have two claims on my record (for the same date). Horrible company... avoid them like the plague. "

We called to figure out what was wrong. (Major waste of time!) After months of trying to get a straight answer, we decided to switch to a new company - then we discovered that AAA had our daughter listed as a male! We asked for a refund. They decided that the difference between a 16 year old girl in California and a 16 year old boy in California was 80 dollars for 14 months. What a lie!!! Interesting...State Insurance comissioner was not help. (I wonder who is getting their pockets lined.) "

Now you talk to someone new each time you call. My premium skyrocketed without any accidents or claims. They recorded the wrong mileage on my car (about 5,000 higher than actual) and told me that I would have to wait until it was time to renew before they would re-evaluate my rate! They want me to keep paying on the higher premium until October 2009! I'm currently in the process of switching carriers."

When I complained through customer service and demanded a new agent I did get a new agent. He verifed that I did pay on my new policies, MY OLD POLICY WAS NEVER CANCLED BUT HE WOULD CORRECT IT. Two months later, my mortgage company informed my I had no homeowners coverage! Even though I was assured I did from my AAA agent, and I still had not recieved a refund from my old policy. I had to have a customer service rep look into it and hopefully it will be corrected. I just got off the 1/2 hour phone call and I'm praying it is taken care of now. HAHAHA My new agent just called (I'm sure he knew I just spoke with customer service) and apologied for not getting back to me, but he found out his LINCENSE was expired and he had to renew it before he could talk to me. Later on I received a letter from the DMV stating that my registration is about to get terminated since I don't have insurance. If you (like most insured) are not an "agent" or are not schooled in insurance, DO NOT TRUST AAA!!!!! They bank on the fact that you have none or very little true understanding of insurance and how it works. Do NOT expect to ever talk to the same person more then once, do NOT EVER, expect to get the same quality of service more then twice!! Do expect to loose coverage with any claim. "Have only filed one homeowner's claim and that was handled well. What I don't like is the auto insurance. When my daughter got her permit we bought her an old car and put the minimum coverage on it. The rate on my car went up because she was listed as the "rated driver", even though she was listed on the other car and didn't even have her license! When I asked my agent about it, he said it didn't affect my rate. When we bought a newer car for her and she got her license, my insurance was cut in half because she was listed on my car! In other words, my agent totally lied to me the first time I asked about it. They did this to my friend also...automatically list the new driver on the most expensive car on the policy...even though the new driver has another car. Easy way to rip people off. We are currently looking into switching companies. I feel betrayed. Plus, we have never filed a claim in the 20 years we've had auto coverage with them."

Cost us $18,000 out of pocket. Still waiting for additional settlement on siding and paint that wasn't satisfactorally repaired with their coverage. Interesting that other insurance companies are paying 100% for our neighbors' roofs. AAA people are stubborn and give a lot of lip service without action.
