Company History: The Employers Mutual Casualty Association of Iowa (EMCA) was founded in 1911 with John A. Gunn elected as the first president. The company originally offered 9 lines of insurance. The EMCA renamed the company the Employers Mutual Casualty Company in 1924. In the 1930's the company began to expand across the midwest. In 1953 EMC went International, in 1955 the company began to offer property insurance, and by 1969 EMC offered insurance in all 50 states.
