"Had Erie Home and Auto over 7 years. No claims experience to relate. They did raise our premiums every year. Same coverage, same limits, same deductible, no claims, cost more. I don't consider THAT a recommendable quality."

"I have been with Erie Insurance Co since 1980. I was always very satisfied when I had to contact them for a claim. Had two claims for my car and to claims for my house since 1980. They were very professional and very fair in the settlement each time. I just have good thing to say about them and also recommend them to my friends in NC."

"A home I have insured through Erie was destroyed by fire and left 4 family members homeless in below freezing weather. Erie has done NOTHING to house my 77 year old step dad, 70year old mom ,brother and sister,start the clean up and demolition process or even call me"

"There was a hail storm in our neighbor. Every single house in our street had a roof replacement by their insurance. Eries Insurance said that there is no damage to our roof, so no replacement."

"I was a customer for 30 years with only 2 claims. I saved Erie thousands of dollars on my first homeowners claim ever. I found a water heater leak shortly after it started and stopped it, working through the night to vacuum out the water before it reached the walls. I called in a cleanup company that could come immediately instead of the one Erie gave a reference for. When the adjuster eventually arrived he estimated the wall to wall carpet replacement alone to be over 10,000. The cleanup company I used was actually able to dry out the carpet in time to save it at a much lower cost to Erie. This year my Dryer started on fire inside, not in the vent and I also caught this quickly, extinguishing it before it damaged the house. We were able to stay in the house and did not have repairs, only replace the dryer and cleanup the extinguisher powder. Again saving Erie thousands of dollars by putting out the fire instead of exiting the house. My thanks for these efforts was an 80% increase in my premium."

"My plumber says Erie insurance is one of that only insurance companies that will cover service lines to the house including landscape damage from repairs. We had a caved in main sewer and the claim was processed very quickly."

"Don't pay claims Take your premium Don't return calls Hide behind emails Stall communications and claims to reach 180 day deadline for claim appeals write checks to company's instead of to you, they want you to take their word that they will payno way don't cover cash in your house except, 250. ridicules, I carry that in my wallet agents don't return calls either DON'T GET THIS INSURANCE customer for 34 years, and never had a claim until a recent home break in. A relatively small claim, and they still didn't pay the claim. I will be canceling them A true joke for insurance, I would be better self insuring myself"

"Don't trust them. They took 8 weeks to settle a claim. Then they paid out only a fraction of what it should have been. Took out my deductible from the check issued to the company cleaning the flood mess and then took it from me also. Than just a week and a half after issuing me a check cancelled my insurance."

"My wife and I make soap as a hobby and generate samples at cost to see what people like. Erie threatened us that if we did not stop using lye and fragrances they would drop our homeowners. I will be seeing my state congressman. There are many in our area making soap. There is a large outlet selling the soap. We will stop making soap but will file a complaint. Get another agent. Once adjudicated we will warn the communities making soap and candles about them."

"The insurance adjustor looks specifically to find a cause of the problem that is not covered by the policy. We had very specific hail and wind damage to our roof, as noted by 3 separate roofers. Erie brings their own roofer who found the cause to be defective shingles. These were Certainties shingles put on 10 years ago. They're is no proof of a defect, but definite proof od hail damage. I feel Erie's practice was unethical and a conflict o interest by using their own roofer who admits he doesn't actually do roofing This claim was done by my condo association for our condo buildings. The same adjustor checked into water damage in my home. After 4 visits he deemed the issue as condensation from poor construction This was such a bunch of crap. But, that is the only item in my policy that would make a clam invalid. I would never recommend Erie to anyone. They are not there to help you in a crisis."

"I notified my agent about a claim. He sat on it for months until I received a notice that I was being sued. Had to complain to commissioner to get results. First claim I ever filed. "

"They worst company every. Been with them for over 10 years and have multiple cars and my house on my policy. I never had any claims and haven't had any accidents since signing up with Erie. >>I recently got my renewal notice and noticed it increased $300 dollars. I decided to look into getting quotes from other Insurance companies in my area. The quotes I got from all the other vendors blew my mind. Almost every other insurance company was able to quote me $2000-$2900 less than what I way paying for my Erie yearly premium. Even Allstate who's typically pretty pricey was $2300 less than what I pay a year for Eire. >>When I called my agent to ask why my premium was so much higher than all the other insurance companies, they had no answer. They just told me to contact Erie directly and when I did, Erie told me to talk to my agent. >>I should've looked for new rates 9 years ago. I can't believe Erie screwed me over for all these years. They suck "

"I have a workers comp claim with eerie and have since 2008 I have had several surgeries and was deemed unable to work. Since then they were court ordered to send me a check every week However these "people" send checks whenever they feel like it As of rite now, it has been 3 weeks since I have received a check. This has been goin on since 2008. This company could careless that I have a family to help support and that they have totally ruined me and my wife's credit Not to mention they are ignoring a court order to send me a check every week There have been time where they have went over 6 weeks without sending a check. And it is obvious they could careless about the headaches and hassle they are causing me and my family What do they do if you don't send your payment every month??? In my opinion this is the absolute worst company ever I only deal with them because I have no choice. If you have a choice, I would highly recommend staying away from this company They could careless about you or anything but collecting their money F- F-"

"Erie would only pay 2/3 of a large claim on our house which our policy clearly covered. They would not negotiate. We followed all the rules. They would not discuss or negotiate. Forced to spend down our savings. We never missed or had a late payment . Do not use this company under any circumstances."

"We had a hail storm and filed a claim. The adjuster came out at a time other than the time we had agreed to so we were not there with our own representative. They said "no roof damage" and refused to come back at a time that we could be there with our own rep so we could show them any damage that existed. There is an Erie claims adjuster that lives less than 200 yards from us who did not handle our claim and he had his roof replaced within two months of the storm - I guess they take care of their own but don't want to help someone who has been paying premiums for 20 years."

"This company is pure bait and switch. They show you a low rate for the policy and then perform an audit on your business policy and come up with trumped up s that are not defendable so that you have to appeal and fight to have it reduced while they take large sums of money out for repayment of the plan after doing so. workmen's comp for business. We also had personal and have never had a claim or any need for the large amounts of insurance carried. The agent is as many say here also not trustworthy -- lied to us that he did not CANCEL our policies without reason and would not come clean until we showed the notice -- even then he didn't care that he had blatantly lied. Policies should have never been cancelled but he used that as a reason to take fees directly out of checking acct. Never - ever - ever Erie."

"Been with Erie since 1982. No at fault accidents and a few thousand dollar home claim several years ago. Son 18 had two minor fender benders - one the other driver accepted fault but ERIE said it was his fault no damage to our car either time. Get a letter saying they are dropping us if we don't take him off of the policy.....after 34 years. We've paid them more in premiums than they've paid us in claims. Unbelievable."

"Erie seemed to have great rates and I had a policy with them for several years. However after filing a claim for an accident which I was not at fault but my car was totaled they cancelled my plan. Months later I receive a letter in the mail from a collection agency saying that I owed premiums to Erie. When I called my former agent she claimed because of their "auto-renewal" policy I had coverage for several months - even though they had cancelled my plan and I had coverage from another insurer. The agent was very rude and arrogant and refused to correct the error instead telling me "either pay it or we'll ruin your credit." Do not deal with them. As the saying goes... "If something seems too good to be true it usually is.""

"I have had erie for 5 yrs now. In that time my homeowners premium has increased over 80% with no claims and only a mere 10% increase in coverage. As far as my auto ins goes. I hit a racoon and busted the bumper on a mustang. They acted like i was lying about it untill the adjuster seen the hair in the grill. Also took forever to get it all settled. "

"Erie used to be a very exclusive company but not any more. Indeed their rates are low among the competition however instead of paying for the losses now they spend money in finding creative ways to deny the claim.They do this through paid experts submitting reports in their favor. Erie is no better than all other companies that are notorious for avoiding payments. The problem is proverbial in the insurance businesses across the board and Erie is no exception. "

"Have been with Erie for over 25 yrs for auto home life had recently had 2 accidents one was a medical emergency. I figure I've paid them close to 40 grand over the years.Took forever for adjuster to complete our claim was only 8000 they then promptly dropped us. Horrible awful to deal with. Only want money in don't want to pay out. No customer loyalty at all"

"Only if you are an attorney you may consider Erie insurance and expect to challenge them in court. They offered replacing ONE roof panel out of NINE after many complaints. I declined their offer of 1500 and replaced them and the roof for 14500 from my own. I didn't want to go to court.Never go back to."

"I read the other reviews on this site with no intention of making a comment however some of the negative reviews baffled me. Erie has done well by me and treated me very well when I filed a claim. If I remember correctly they closed my claim within 48 hours and I had a check in hand in no time. Just my 2 cents."

"I am now trying to get wind and hail damage paid for on my roof and like others before me they are telling me my problems on my roof are caused by shoddy workmanship. The adjuster was rude and called me combative as I am trying to get some concerns addressed. I left a fabulous insurance company -- Amica -- for this company because a friend sold me my accounts. "to expensive.when I was unhappy with agent and wanted to change agents Erie said no I had to stay withmy present agent.He was expanding his client base as fast as possible and not taking care of existing customers. I had been customer with Erie since the early 1960s. At one point I was paying 6K to 7K per year for AutoHome Commerical Libality. Boat. New agent tookover and things went down hill. "

"This company has a credit on my policy of 34.00. I bought another car and that gave a debit of 27.00 still leaving me a 7.00 credit. However they will not apply the credit to the debit and sent me a cancellation notice for 27.00 even though they have a credit of 34.00. They state that is not their practice to take a credit to cover a debit. I have not received a check for the credit. I have filed a complaint with the OVI. Now my agent wont even help me but still collects comission on my premiums. I asked where in the declaration it states that ? Now my agent wont even help me However the OVI called me right back about my complaint Thank - God. But the inusurance company has 21 days to respond. So regardless I have to pay 27.00. So when do I get my check for 34.00. It just does not seem right "

"Had hail damage to my truck and my wifes suv with 200 miles on it. Gave me the run around saying that dent wizard can fix the 500 dents. The adjuster was rude and didnt seem to care if the vehicles were fixed in a timely manor. 2 months later they did make the repairs that multiple body shops suggested. I had a small fire two years later in my apartment building and they tested me like a criminal. My agent told me that they wanted me gone and if I was a day late on my premiums they would not renew. I decided then that Ive had enough of the bad attitudes and them making me feel like they are doing me a favor by paying for repairs that were included in my policies. Do yourself a favor and run."

"I had two unrelated pipe breaks the last one which virtually destroyed as small apartment in my home. Erie gave a 2/3 value settlement and then canceled my insurance.Auto towing is on your own to find a tow company and then Erie will reimburse the cost."

"Erie will be happy to take your money in premium but good luck if you have to file a claim. Their claims adjusters make used car salesman look ethical. After 12 weeks of non-responsiveness and other games I will be escallating the issue to the PA Dept of Insurance. As soon as this claim is settled I will be switching insurance companies. "

"Have had two cars and home insured by Erie for about 15 years. We have had no claims and always paid on time. We have very good credit. I just received my renewal and it is increased by 250 with an expanation that the increase was due to a change in my insurance rating. The company tells me that this is simialr to a credit rating but different. The only thing that has changed in my rating is that I bought a new car and financed it. The financing was not new but replaced the financing on the car I traded. Also my wifes car was paid off recently so we actually went from two loans to one. This is clearly a means to get around the state regulated rate structure by applying a bogus rating to the customer. I will be changing companies immediately and I am pursuing any type of political pressure I can find. "

"Filed two claims last year. One was denied as the incident was not covered in the policy. There was no payment from Erie there. The second claim was for hail damage. Erie paid the claim but when it came time for renewal of the homeowner policy they chose not to renew citing excessive claims as the reason. Two claims in 17 years Now Im considered high risk and I am paying nearly 4 times more for homeowners insurance through another company. I am cancelling my auto insurance with them immediately. "

"My boyfriend added me to his policy less than a month ago and requested a change to pay on a monthly basis. It has taken Erie 3 weeks and several phone calls to adjust the price and it is still incorrect. On top of that they stated that we will getting a late charge. What We will definitely be shopping for other insurances."

"Weve had Erie auto and home insurance for 38 years and my parents had both for as long as I can remember I was born in 1950. Our home was recently damaged in a hail storm that accompanied a small tornado. Although everyone in my neighborhood who does NOT have Erie has had damage repaired already mostly new roofs and some windows those of us who have Erie have yet to receive ANY response other than an adjustor examining the damage. Phone calls are never returned."

"Erie uses the cheapest way to investigate an accident.They assume just because a driver is seventeen and involved in an accident it is his or her fault. They find a way to make the accident a 50/50 fault so they dont have to pay on stacked insurance."

"They give you the run around and keep saying they are sending adjusters..but they do not come. They do not follow-up for several days on calls. They ask you do find quotes...then they do not like them and they send another adjustor. I have been waiting since the beginning of July for them to give a quote of fixing my roof after a wind damaged my roof. It is now Sept 30th and still nothing..another adjustor is on there way..they said in 4 weeks. This company is very bad to deal with on claims."

"I have 7 policies with Erie. Personal and commercial. Never had to file a claim once until last year after a car accident (with another Erie insured who admitted fault). What a disaster, it took me at least 8 months to resolve the fees which were placed on my credit card by the rental agency, my plan covers a rental and Erie had them bill my credit card. "We had 2 occasions to file claims within a 6-year period against our Homeowners policy with Erie. Both claims were for water damage - the first caused by a deteriorated drain in one of our walls, and the other more recently due to heavy snowfall that caused water to back up into one of our living areas and run down the interior side of an outside wall from the roof. Both times they denied the claim. The first claim they said the leak was due to inadequate maintenance (?) How are you supposed to "maintain", or even know that a 5" cast iron pipe behind one of your walls is ready to leak??? The second claim they said was not included in one of our "named perils" - the list of which they never gave us! For years we thought we were well insured - that was not the case, and our agent was useless."

"Erie Insurance Company is one that is financially thin. Do not pay attention to their website that quotes JD Powers. Erie Insurance makes every effort to deny claims. They have low payout ratios and uses subrogration as a matter of company policy. Overall this gives them and the insurance community a black eye. "I asked for an insurance quote from my previous insurance agent that could beat the price on my State Farm policy. Somehow a policy order was generated under my name for an auto policy that I never requested. I have spent countless hours arguing with the customer service representatives that I should not owe the $110 that I had been billed for coverage that I never requested, especially since I was insured with another company. The fight is still ongoing today, and my Erie account has been sent to collections. Adding insult to injury my credit score has taken a nasty hit. If this is how difficult it is to deal with Erie for a billing issue I would hate to have to deal with them on a claim. I will never do business with this company and I would advise you to think twice before you decide to do so."

"I have been with Erie for over 21 years. I have made 3 auto claims without incidence. In April I made my first homeowners claim. All homes in my development were hit with hail. 40+ homes had their roofs replaced thru other insurance companies. Erie is trying to say that the roof was damaged by "blisters" and not the hail. I really think they are getting the "cause of loss" all messed up! I even sent shingles to Owens Corning who promptly replied that there is no manufacturers defect - my problem is hail damage. Erie brings in inspector after inspector from Haag who say this looks like blistering. We have been fighting for 7 months now. I am turning to an attorney to get the coverage I am due! I am switching to Donegal insurance and away from Erie! "

"I had a sump pump fail in the basement, I called my agent to set up the claim, within 2 hours the adjuster contacted me to get the ball rolling. He gave me 2 companies to call to get the water out. The claim was handled with out any problems at all. I would recomend ERIE to anyone."

"My house is in the middle of five houses. The two houses to my left and the two to my right all got their roofs replaced due to hail damages. I called Erie and they send a guy who spent most his time taking pictures around the house. He stayed on the roof for 15 minutes and was on the phone talking for about 8 minutes. "We had Erie Homeowners Insurance for 7 years. We had to file a claim in 11-08 and 2-09 for wind damage to roof and siding during extreme thunderstorms. Entire neighborhood were having to replace entire roofs. Our claims were small (less than 3000.00 together). Just got a letter that says we are now high risk and they will not be renewing our policy. Upon checking with other insurance companies, we are finding out that this is standard with Erie and others after two claims. When you ask for a quote from other companies they ask how many claims you have filed in the last policy year. You have to tell so this lists us as high risk and now doubles the price of an insurance policy from any other company. I might add that we never were late on a policy payment. The least they could have done is inform us when we turned in the second claim that they would cancel us if we did. "

"Erie insurance tries to get out of paying when their insured drivers are at fault. My son was in an accident with someone insured by Erie. The Erie driver admitted fault. The local police department gave me the law regarding the situation. The Erie driver hooked a U turn in front of my son. Apparently, he didnt see him or who in their right mind would do such a thing if they knew a car was behind them. The police department stated that the person executing the U turn has an obligation to yield to traffic. My attorney agrees, yet they are still trying to claim that my son was at fault. Do not do business with this company. Their adjusters sound unknowledgable and try to grab at straws to get out of doing the morally right thing. "We have homeowner policy with Erie since 2007, and recently filed water damage claim. After severe and excessive rainfall and heavy storms our basement was flooded with sewer water. We have reported damages to our personal property on Friday around noon and on Monday morning claims adjuster was in our home to get a recorded statement and estimate of damages. She was very nice and helpful, even before coming to our house offered a professional cleaning service to help us dry out. After completing an inventory list we emailed it to her along with pictures that my husband took during and just after the flood. It took 2 weeks to get check in the mail, which was very quick taking into consideration number of weather related claims in our area and the fact that she had to type in and research prices for our inventory (4 long pages, over 50 items). We have reviewed offer and are very satisfied with it. Not only we get reimbursed for damaged property but also get money for basement cleaning. Based on my experience I highly recommend Erie Insurance for my family and friends."

"This Company should be shut down. I purchased a policy for my auto and home with them and they raised the rates by several hundred dollars when I finally got my policy. I immediately found better insurance and canceled with them. I suspect that they do this as a habit figuring that by then the person will just mail the check. "A woman with Erie hit our sons car door and cracked it in a parking lots and denied doing so. He called police and they said her door lined up with the crack in the door, She admitted to the officer that she did it but changed her story to Erie. "The cottage next door burned down, which burned the siding off the side of mine. The siding is no longer made. After their insurance told me to take a hike. Mine said they would replace two sides of the cottage siding. So I'll have different type of siding on two sides of the cottage. They said so what. After 25 years with them. "had extreme water damage. water ran for over 4 hrs while we were taking our grandparents to the airport. came home to find that pipe on the back of the masterbath toilet had broken, had standing water in the upstairs closet (about 2 inches) and it was literaly raining in the garage. The drywall was sagging in the garage and you could see the water stains, and upstairs, we tried out best to get the crawl space off the closet as dried out as possible. The floor to the Masterbath floor was soft when you walked on it, and you could literaly pick the tiles up off the floor. When the inspector from Erie came, we were not impressed with her. She was an elderly lady, who walked around and looked, and said there is definetely no mold, and while taping on her nose said, "if there was mold, my nose would tell me." ARE YOU SERIOUS??? We also had 2 contractors come and take a look, who both stated that the floors in the masterbath had to come up in that section and be replaced, as well as the drywall both upstairs and down. The cheapest estimate we got was roughtly $8k. After we did what was asked of us, Erie sent out some company that specializes in drying out areas. again I must say, ARE YOU SERIOUS??? We got the estimate from Erie, and it came back at $496. How convenient, since our deductible is $500. All our personal belongings that got damaged, along with family pictures, things that can't be replaced. I'm appaled with Erie, and needless to say am now shopping for a new company with a better reputation. We also have auto insurance through Erie, and we'll be changing that as well. It's amazing to me, we've paid them every year since '04 when we got our home, and never filed a claim, and the first time you need their help, and this is how they treat you. And as far as her stating that her nose would tell her if their was mold, well, we had a mushroom grow in the bathroom from in between the tiles that had the water damage. I think it's time to go talk to a lawyer. Now it's a health issue. Erie should be ashamed of themselves. Greedy is all I can think of. "

"After buying a house w/ clean inspection, we experienced a roof leak due to a hidden cover up from previous home owner. Erie would only cover damaged drywall on ceiling and paint. The adjustor didn't seem a bit concerned about the mess we had with rotted wood in the attic. We had to put out $9,000.00 of our own money to repair the rotted wood and entire roof installation! Our agent said it was out of his hands and our case was closed! You bet they've lost our business!"

We also have always paid our auto premium on the quarterly basis. At first there was not charge for quarterly payment then it went up to 1.00 then 3.00 now it is up to $15 - that is so ridicious. This was the staw that broke the camel's back - between high food costs, less product in packages, higher fuel cost - this one was it. "I left Erie Insurance when my policy expired in Spring 2008 and went with another company mostly for savings and some additional coverage with the new company. Six months later I receive a letter demanding $253 for payment of the premium from date it ended to date they say it was canceled. I assume non-payment of premium means I canceled the policy. Letter stated must send proof that I went with a new company or pay the $235 or they will turn it over to a collection agency. I will respond to them and send it to the State Insurance Commission as well. Didn't know I had signed a lifetime contract with them."

"Recently, I filed a claim because of damage to my cloth convertible top. It looks like someone took a knife to it. Everyone I talked I made it a point to ask if this will raise my rates. "I have been with Erie for 31 years and my wife was involved in 2 accidents in less than a year, the first one being a fender bender in a freak April snow storm. The second one was catastophic event, the reason you buy insurance. A Motorcyclist hit into her while she was turning into a parking lot. According to the Police report his speedometer was stuck at 55 mph at impact (speed limit is 25 mph) he had cocaine and alcohol in his system. Sadly, he passed away from his injuries. Erie paid out $100,000 to his children. My wife was never cited for the accident. When it came time to renew, Erie informed us that they would not renew the policy. To me, you are just a number with Erie, I mean as a customer for 31 years you would think someone might look at the circumstances of the payout."

"I've been with Erie for 11 years. The highest I ever paid in insurance was $1200, when I was 21. Last year's policy was $1059. This year, my policy was to renew...for $1328. I have had no accidents, no tickets, no claims - EVER - in all the time I have been with them. The reason for the hike is that they re-designed their rating system and that is where I fall in their "system." My agent called the home office, and they told him I am low risk and a great customer but there was nothing they could do to lower my rate due to "state regulations." They did the same thing to my parents who had been with them for 30 years. I'm moving to a different insurance company for a $900 a year rate for the same exact coverage."

" We have been with Erie Insurance for approximately 20+ years and just recently had a claim on our auto insurance policy with them. My husband was taking my son back to college and while signaling to turn into a gas station was hit from behind by an out of control male driver. Another man witnessed the accident and told my son at the scene, that this driver had been weaving in and out of traffic all the way thru town at a high rate of speed and he saw him hit our vehicle. In the mean time the man who hit our car got out in a hurry and told my husband to give him our insurance information and he gave my husband an insurance card back. The cars were both drivable so the police were not called to the scene. The witness, unfortunately, left without giving his name to my son, and then after the insurance information was exchanged between my husband and the guy who hit us, the guy turned to my husband and said "my wife is going to kill me when I tell her, she has only had this car for two weeks." Then he left the scene-screeching tire across two lanes of traffic. Well my husband call our insurance and they told us that this guy did not report the accident to his insurance company yet so they would have to look into it. We then started to feel a little uneasy about the person who hit us. My husband decided to call the Country Fair where this had happened to see if they had film footage of the incident, but they said their cameras were not in operation so they could not help us. Then Erie Insurance called us back and said the man who hit us had told them 3 different stories about the situation and the very last story is the one that ERIE INSURANCE decided to believe. This "man" that hit us was now officially a "LADY" and she was driving the car and her husband was a passenger in the same car. She said her father in-law was following them and saw everything that happened, but didn't stop because there was nothing he could do. She went on to say that my husband was changing lanes fast and pulled in front of them and that's when she hit our car. Our insurance Co. (Erie Insurance) said my husband nor my son could be a reputable witness for this incident and since we did not get the name of the man who saw the whole thing unravel, they would have to go with what their insurance adjuster decided had happened. This insurance adjuster (who mind you was not even at the scene of the accident) decided that from where she saw the damage on our car and the damage on his/her, or/it's car that it must be my husbands fault! I couldn't believe what we were hearing. First of all our testimony was not taken into account, but someone who change their story 3 times was taken as the gospel! Second of all, we know, as well as God made man, that the person driving that day was by himself, and he was a HE, not a SHE. How degrading to be told that you don't know a he from a she, to be told your story doesn't matter, to be told that some half wit has more creditability than someone who has had the same insurance company for over 20 years, and to have some fly-by-night adjuster fabricated a story out of the blue and then try to sell it to the person that it actually happened to. What the heck is this world coming to! This is obviously the easiest route for our insurance company to take so they don't have to pay for representation of their faithful client. Now, to boot, we have to pay a deductible to get our car fixed and our insurance will go up because they have said it was our fault for this accident. WHAT A CROCK OF CRAP! Hey don’t forget when your shopping for insurance to give that CHEAP ERIE INSURANCE A TRY!!!!!!!"

"Spent 12,000 on a new roof this spring, a windstorm ripped off two 25 foot panels and Erie insurance claims it is due to faulty workmanship from the insured contractor...Instead of going after the contractor for me they left me hanging out to dry. Claims "experts" are pompous arrogant and rude, demeaning to a small business owner."

"My agent moved in with a conglomerate that offers several plans. Since he moved there, I find he's really not very accessible. I'd like to change agents, but Erie will not allow me to do so since I'm still living within 250 miles of my agent. Other than that, I've no complaints. Erie is a solid company, with reasonable rates."

"I filed a claim, for an off-site storage facility. Rain/water leaked in through the sides of the entry door (garage door type), and through holes in the roof, and with the water/moisture, all my stuff got full of mold. They denied the claim because "THEY BELIEVE the mold was caused by natural condensation". Even though, I have tons of proof of how much water leaked in. They don't cover mold, unless the cause is covered. Natural condensation isn't, but the leaking roof should make it. "

"Erie had an error stating that I had an auto accident on the day the policy started; and then canceled the auto policy because of it. Despite repeated efforts by my agent to correct the misinformation, the company would not reinstate the policy. A simple matter that could not be resolved...I can't imagine dealing with them for something more serious or involved."

"We had hail damage (considered a national diaster area) everyone in my entire neighborhood received a new roof and siding. Erie told us that our roof had defected shingles from 8 years ago. No one would talk to us, the claim adjuster was very rude and made us feel like we were trying to get something that we were not entitled to receive. DO NOT EVER PURCHASE THIS INSURANCE!!!!"

"i have shopped around on several occasions in the past few years and could not find a better deal. One agent, after a long Q and A session came up with a lerger number than I was paying and when I told him, asked who my auto insurance was with. When I told him Erie, he said, you should have saidd something earlier and saved us both the time. there arent too many companies that can beat them. Bob"

"Erie has great rates and I filed a claim, the transaction went extremely smoothly. They did increase my auto insurance rates by 20 % afterwards, but since the original rate was so reasonable, the additional charge was permissible. I would definitely renew with Erie, but unfortunately moved to a state which they do not cover...!"

"The one time in my life I actually needed to make a claim when my new house's foundation fell apart, Erie Insurance opted to force me into litigation instead of settling. A worthless and unethical company. Heaven help you if you ever have to make a claim."

"My agent consistently makes promises he doesn't keep. He tells me he will call me and then doesn't. When i call him, he scrambles to remember who I even am. When i needed someone to go to bat for me, he let me down completely."
