"GMACNational GeneralIntagon Ins.. Winston Salem, NC refused to pay a claim called me a liar about the BEL of my vehicle while I was with my son who was in ICU. Items stolen I provided LE Serial Numbersbrandsetc. of stolen property Horrible experience, however there is more. My son is in a Hospital Bed a piece of cement holding his knee togethertreatment for Mersa and taff infection and will need his 8th knee replacement when possible. This Insurance company after 6 years decided to charge me a premium because he s lving with me. He has a state id, no lcense and can not operate a vehicle, due to his condition-in fact has to ride in the back of an SUV for doctor appointmentsetc. I paid almost 600.00 just because he is living with me. They should e forced to pay this back, now they have sent me a monthly premium for 287.00-again because my son remains in a hospital bed. What do you do about a company who does this to a 72 year old and the yearly premimum would be 14th of my yearly fixed income. PLEASE DO NOT GET INSURANCE WITH THIS COMPANY RIPPRED OFF AND REPORTING TO INSURANCE COMMISSIONER."

"Now known as National General Insurance, I really like the fact that their policy is for a full 12 months. Most companies are for only 6 months so they can raise your rates more frequently. I have been with GMAC/National General for over 25 years. The few times I have had to contact customer service, they were helpful, knowledgeable, and took care of my question quickly. "

"I was reared ended by another motorist out of state while on vacation. I notified the company of the accident. I wasn't making a claim I was just notifying them of the accident. GMAC raised my rate by 40% denied the claim I didn't put in for dropped collision from my insurance and questioned me about being out of state on Father's Day. They were happy taking my money for over 3 years. The moment I was involved in a rear end collision mind you I was rear ended they questioned it. This company is lousy do no business with them. GMAC or Nation General."

"This company stinks. If you have comp with them be prepared to wait at least 8 weeks for your car to be repaired. Lousiest business I've ever dealt with. I switched to Geico."

"Left a voicemail everyday for the last 30 days and no response back. These people don't care if you need the insurance claim completed to use a vehicle for work. Very poor service and will not be recommending to any friends or family. "

"The day after Thanksgiving 2012 I was hit in the parking lot by a Domino's delivery driver. It is now April 2013 and my car still isn't fixed I haven't switched providers yet just because they already are doing a horrible job I don't want to make it worse. As soon as the repairs are done I plan on changing even if I pay more. "

"Just received next policy--with an increase of about 30% when I phoned he said it was merely an increase for living in California where the cost of doing business has gone up. The only claim I ever filed was for getting rear-ended and I only requested payment for a replacement part. A 30% increase tells me my business is not of value to them."

"Do not use GMAC Insurance Company. Six months into a claim and still no answer. I have had 9 reps. and 2 adjusters. Said company was downsizing. I feel ripped off. And worse than that is I paid for this service. Consumer BEWARE"

"They are very shady. Customer Service skills are nonexistent. Wait time on phone is too long and hidden fees are not discussed verbally at time of cancellation. "

"They wanted to put aftermarket parts on a vehicle that was only a year old and took over 2 weeks for them to give the auto body shop approval to make repairs. Also this was the only claim that we had ever had with this company and was only a comp. claim from where my husband hit a deer."

"Accident happened on Sunday 5/6/12. Claim was filed same day. After several attempts to find out what is going to happen with my car NOTHING Here we are on Monday May 14 2012 715pm still no answer. The rental car insurance also sucks. After being tossed from adjuster to manager after manager still nothing has been resolved. Someone freakin help me."

"Auto insurance rates take big jumps each renewal period in spite of no accidents and no tickets. When you call their 800 number to ask a question about coverage you are connected to a rep in the Philippines and they have trouble understanding your question and providing an answer. Company will not offer a low-mileage discount unless you subscribe to Onstar."

"third year with this company and the renewal rate went up over 27 percent. will start getting other quotes. I would recommend that you avoid this company. I had no claims and my car is driven around 3000 miles a year which is verify via onstar and reported directly to GMAC. It appears to me to be shame by hooking you with low initial rates and then sticking it to you later on with large increases. "

"purchased auto policy in August 2011 at a resonable rate. When GMAC sent the six month renewel they raised their six month rate by 25% percent not approved by FL State Legislature yet they tell customers that is the reason Yes they commit fraud and I intend to file lawsuit for fraud.FL allowed a 9.2% increase in 2011 not 25 percent.Do not use this company owned and operated by a financial company nit an insurance company"

"Took a day to get a call back from an agent after a collision others fault. Other partys insurance company Progressive responded much more quickly and was more helpful than mine GMAC."

"GMAC is very cheap and if you ever need to file a claim it is the worst they bounce you from person to person and it seems like nothing gets accomplished. "

"After being with this company for four years they raised my monthly payment by 100.00 when I called them they did not have an explanation they just said the rates in my state when up I asked if they could help me and all they said was sure we can increase your deductibles. I will definetly not recommend this insurance company"

"Ripoff!!! $50.00 policy cancellation fee- $15.00 "Acquisition Fee" for each renewal! Waiting 5 days(and counting) to speak with a customer service supervisor! And no claims in the last 15 years!"

"Awful. Just awful. I never filed a claim with them but they doubled my insurance payment. Needless to say I dropped GMAC and will never go back."

"TERRIBLE Customer service! If you need to speak to a representative you most likely will encounter a LONG hold time. If they upset you enough to change your insurance company, they make it hard to get a refund for unused portion of your insurance. AND they charge you $20 to cancel your policy!!!! "

"I have had insurance with gmac for years. They are penalizing me for refusing to give confidential information of my 14 year old grandson, which does not drive or in any way on my policy. I am upset, they want his name and birthdate. Why do they want that when he wont be driving for couple of years. They said they needed it for underwriters, so they will raise my premium when he drives. But I told them that is not for a couple years. They demanded it now. They threatened my with penalty."

"Put in to get a quote on a mishap where garage door malfunctioned and barely scraped top of my hood. GMAC reported it as a no fault accident and raised my rates.I was told over the phone that when adjuster comes out nothing gets reported unless you ,make a claim I will be changing insurance companies"

"Last time they added a policy fee of $25.00 Now instead of rates going down by a small degree - it went up - no explanation! So called them - they say they raised them to (either/or?) be competitive with other companies (- laughable excuse) or to compensate for paperwork and other stuff that the policy fee was added for! I paid this time - but told the lady tell her boss that their customer service sucks (not informed w/policy in mail why changes on policy were put in place) and that I will be shopping around next renewal time! And to clarify - nothing on my record changed! The only good thing about them - they were cheaper than GEICO - and I can get a hold of a human being when needed."

"GMAC took 3 months to settle a simple comprehensive damage claim. This delay was over a disputed amount of $550... finally, they settled for the full amount. It was a ridiculous, time-wasting experience and they squandered far more than $550 in the course of settling this claim, including their cost to bring in an independent appraiser. GMAC is a nickel and dime company that could give a rip about their customers."

"Any time we have filed a claim with GMAC it has been a smooth process. My only complaint about them would be the cost. I started getting quotes from other companiees and I can save $1,200 a year by going with someone else."

"They offered an insurance on our travel trailer that would allow us to take off colission while it us off the road for the winter and when we got our new statement the insurance went up over 200% from the original quote. They could not explain why this happened."

"Got my renewal in the mail and it went up over $400. No claims or changes at all on my part. They were more than twice what other companies were charging. Buyer beware."

"GMAC has a tendency to raise rates in the middle of the term. My payments were 126/mo for a couple of months, and then without a notice or warning, GMAC raised the payments to 135/mo. I have never had an accident, ticket or any claims since beinw with them and I am 73 yrs old; safe driver, pleasure driver, seat belt wearer, alarm on car, daytime driving lights, dual airbags. So, go figure their reasoning for hiking my rate without notification. Also, their installments are higher than most because they do not allow a monthly installment or 6 installments. They break it down into 4 which makes it higher."

"Have had GMAC for almost 5 years. Had a couple small claims for broken glass, no problem. They came out within 2 days to fix the damage. Our rates have stayed the same for the most part. I received two speeding tickets and it went up but as my points are coming off, the premiums are coming down also. Looked into AAA insurance and their rates are lower however there are more bad reviews than good. Will definitely stick with GMAC just for the customer service."

"I had wind damage to the roof they would not send an adjuster. I had to send photographs. They were to call that day to discuss photos. No show. Would not reply to email(s) or phone calls wants to settle for 20% of claim.Has the attitude that I owe them. With GMAC YOU do all the leg work,and they use it against you.This has been going on for months. BIG mistake doing business with them. "

"Have had unbeatable auto rates until this year. Last policy went up approx. $130 in Nov now another $130 this May. No claims and no tickets. Time to make a change. Two companies have already beat their quote, Geico by almost 1/2. Have been with GMAC almost 5 years and have seen a decline over time regarding customer service. Still have not found a better rate on Homeowners though."

" I have been with GMAC Auto Ins for over 25 years. I have had a few (mabybe 10) claims, and have been treated really well. I have checked often about other Auto rates but could not find a better rates untill this year. Rates have gone from around $340 in 4-2007 to $464 this year(4-2009) No claims or any changes. They could not give me any reason. I even called them. Maybe there looking for a BAILOUT. I have found 3 Companys that beats their price. Still looking."

"There is no policy fees from GMAC as a previous user has stated. And the reason for the difference in premium if you pay monthly vs. paying your policy in full is because they offer you a discount (10% off the premium) to pay in full! So if you have the in full for the discount! I check other companies every year and have yet to find a company to beat their rates. I have also had 2 claims, neither of which were my fault...but GMAC came through with flying colors both times and I was thrilled that I had a great company working for me."

"No happy with how they raise the rates and confusing billing statements. They will rip you off if you chose the monthly payment plan. If you have to do business with GMAC insurance, try to pay your premium in full. My recommendation will be not to do business with them. Geico cost a little more but they have the best customer service."

"Never had a claim, but not happy about my rates. They raised my rates after I took out a home-improvement loan. Then when I changed vehicles in the middle of a policy period, they could not give me straight answers about the amounts charged for the new vehicle and credited for the prepaid premium on the old one. My phone calls were not handled politely, and the emails I sent were not answered at all. (But at the end of the phone calls, the agents asked if they could quote me a homeowners policy.)"

"I was injured in a car accident. GMAC's claim reps have been extremely supportive. They have paid for more treatment than most other ins. companies would have paid for. They were excellent to deal with when it cameto negotiating with the ins. company of the driver who struck me. I have found them to be ethical and very helpful and understanding. "

"I have been pleased with GMAC. They particularly came through for us when our son had an accident. However, it's looking like we can get slightly better coverage for less and I am researching that at this moment."

"I had one accident (under $2,000 in damages) over the last 10 yrs. and my premiums went up $400/yr. but also up $600 over the last 2 yrs."
