"watch these people. They are premium takers and not insurers. I was broadsided by another car and they did not settle the claim. By the way the other guy was also a Grinnell Customer. It was grinnell who won"

"Stalls payments, loses things, mails refunds to wrong or no address at all. This outfit is a complete scam. Dont buy insurance from Grinnel Mutual, ever, or you will regret it."

"I recently switched to Grinnell Mutual for auto insurance, I saved about 40%. Three weeks after changing to them I had an accident, I had just returned home from my Mother's funeral in another state. I was very stressed and feltt rather foolish about this accident. The body shop faxed the estimate to the adjuster. Less than a week later it was approved. The entire claim was completed and I had my car back in 19 days. I do have a complaint about Enterprise car rental Grinnel has a contract with them but so far Grinnell Mutual has been fair and responded promptly."

"They purposely delay payment on claims. Mailing things to the wrong place and misplacing important papers. Took over 2 months to be settled. Scam artists in my oppinion"

"My total loss vehicle claim us over 6 weeks old. I still see no light at the end of the tunnel. Very disheartening."

"Fair company that does right by their customers, are high but you get what you pay for. If you want to not get sued Grinnell will take care of things."

"MVA claim going into week 6 not settled, lots of foot dragging and stalling on GM's part - paperwork not sent timely, 'forgot to send correct forms' no return calls from agent or her supervisor. Car considered total loss, still sitting in front of the house. Reported them to State of IA Insur Division, my attorney now involved to see if he can speed up the process. Customer of their's for 10 years, will not be renewing with them."

"Charged my bank account the premiums, after I canceled the policy. Found another auto insurance with same covered at half the price."

" Been with grenell mutual for over 5 years. My wife son and myself were all serverly injured in an auto accident. Progressive admits it was there fault and payed the policy limits. However grenell mutuals underinsured motorist adjuster wont pay anything. Not even our med pay. She states she dont think any of our injuries were related to the auto accident. I mean come on we were halled off by ambulance vehicles were totaled. took 2 tow trucks to seperate them. I think the media needs to get involved."

"They take a long time and don't do what they say they are going to do. That is the reason for the long time to settle. Waiting for you to cave in. To get it over with"

"Been with them 35 years. a couple small claims . now another customer of theirs created damage to my property and they are dragging me out. and haven't settled the damages and it has been 9 months. As long as it is my money coming in all is good but paying me isn't. I thought they were a great company. weeded high risk insurance customers out. But they have one they have paid n paid and now are bulking they should have dropped him from all his previous claims. I hope they settle this soon and restore my confidence"

"I had a fire in my place of busienss. The grinnell adjuster was there teh next day and helped me temporaliy relocate- They have been great helping me through this very trying time."

"I had a rental house roof damaged by hail last summer and they only paid 70% of the costs because it was a rental. We had replacement cost insurance. We canceled Grinnell Mutual after having them for 31 years and had 5 small claims with them."

"Had a roof blow off in a storm on May 8th, 2009. The insurance company said to do whatever was possible to prevent further damage. Tarp was put on roof. Claims adjuster said his computer program said our roof should be able to be fixed for XXX dollars. 3 roofing companies quoated a price 6K higher than the insurance computer program. Back and forth for 4 months with little help from the insurance company, tarp tears from exposure for 2 months. Last storm destroys interior of building at a cost of 10 times the amount the adjuster was afraid to spend on a new roof. Now the claim is huge and could have been prevented if they would have addressed the claim sooner."

"I had hail damage to a rental property and the first adjustment was that only 1/2 the roof was damaged and they would only pay 75% because it is a rental. After I complained they totaled the roof but I still only recieved 75% of the replacement costs. I have been their client for 30 yrs but I am switching very soon. These guys a crooks."

"Great company for the stock holders. They refuse legitimate claims as a routine matter. Do not buy insurance from this company. Low rates are only good, if you never have a claim. They will not be there if you need them, and then your claim will be denied. The insurance commission says that they can recommend to Grinnell that they pay a claim, but can't force them."

"After paying GRFINNELL MUTUAL thousands for my business liability, I had ONE claim and, they have told me they will not renew the policy. I just received an audit questionaiire from them and, my agent told me that if I do not submit this, GRINNELL MUTUAL will invent past charges and, if I refuse to pay these illegitimate charges, GRINNELL MUTUAL will send these bogus charges to collections and DELIBERATELY insert a negative statement in my credit repot. Very shortly, I will be informing these leeches thAt I will be contacting my U.S. Rep, filing a charge of extortion against them and placing this statement everywhere possible on the internet. DO NOT PURCHASE ANY INSURANCE FROM GRINNELL MUTUAL."

"Had to send a second adjuster as the first one did not even inspect roofs or second floor window damage from hail. Came up with estimate from standing on the ground and stated everything LOOKED fine! Company now says no 100% replacement on dwelling. Have had insurance for almost 40 years. Was never informed by the company that dwelling could be covered at 100% replacement! Meanwhile 3 months have gone by and we have broken windows and damaged doors and rain and rain and rain... soon snow! "
