"I have a 403b with Horace Mann because of the school system I worked for. I retired and requested a direct rollover of my annuity account to a large credit union IRA - 2 months ago. Horace Mann has stalled and lied repeatedly about paperwork sent by the large credit union. They have yet to send my money over to the new institution, and it's value is dropping. I am filing complaints with SEC, FINRA,my former employer and my congressman for the unethical, dishonest treatment. WARNING to Horace Mann investors. Beware - they will put you through the ringer if and when YOU decide to manage your money. Agent was insulting - told me that I would regret moving my account. He was wrong."

"Horace Mann Insured drivers should have to drive with their hazard lights turned on all the time to let other drivers know to stay away. You do not want to be in a collision with a Horace Mann driver because little do they know, they are pretty much uninsured. Our car was hit by a Horace Mann customer. Even though Horace Mann's driver was ticketed at the scene they refused to take responsibility for the accident until a week later leaving us without a car. After four weeks of trying to get them to repair the car we were forced into having the car totaled because they refused to pay for the repair even though it was below 75% of the cars value. Once we agreed to a price for the settlement check they shorted it by nearly 500. Now we are going to be forced to sue the driver and her insurance company for much more than all of this should have cost."

"Ive had an auto policy with this company for over 6 months now and Im actively looking for a different company. Ever since having this company I have had problems since the first month. My payments are due same day every month with is automatically withdrawn. Being that each month my payment method is different BUT still ON TIME NEVER LATE, my agent had the nerve to tell me that i may get dropped due to changing the way I pay What the heck does is matter how i pay as long as its paid on time Another issue when i first got the policy i told them i wanted the EXACT same coverage from the insurance i was changing from...wish was including roadside assist a couple months into being with the company one of my vehicles broke down in the middle of the road..i called the number on the insurance card and guess what My car WAS NOT covered like previously told and i had to pay out of pocket to get my car towed down the street. This is the WORST experience Ive had with an insurance company ever Would never recommend anyone. Only good thing about this company is the rates are pretty decent considering the limits they give you."

"Today I received a letter informing me that my Horace Mann policy was denied for renewal. I was so excited about having an auto policy that was geared towards benefiting workers in the field of education, as we are limited in so many other financial aspects. Of course I called immediately to inquire why they would cancel me so definitively. It's seemed unfair. The rep I spoke with was very polite. She explained that I wa being dropped via the underwriter's determination, because they'd had to pay for a couple of parking fender benders and getting my keys our of my locked car twice. I'm not suggesting I didn't goof on those mistakes. I'm being a lot more careful these days, but I thought those were services I was paying to have covered. I didn't know I would be given the proverbial boot for using them. We were also lead to believe we had full coverage on a second vehicle, but when my husband requested lockout service for himself, we were told it was not part of our coverage for his vehicle, which was on a separate policy, and it would cost 75. Such an utter dissapointment"

"Was in a horrible car accident march62016 from a ex boyfriend who chased me down and almost killed me notified Horace Mann with in the house after police made report. Remind you me and my family have been loyal customers for almost 10 years. When called our agent he stated he'd set up rental asap. Didn't get one until over a week later 316. Got a call 422 that my car needed to be returned cause car was ready 48 Worker at collision called to car rental place that my car was ready on April 8th, still haven't heard from the body shop car rental or anyone from horacemann letting me know my car ready at this time, so I got him with a 450 rental fee because I was never notified my car was ready, on top as soon as I return rental and pay 450 I went to pick up my car that was ready paid 1000 to get my car, start car up and is making loud noises from engine. Informed our agent of situation and stated he'd get us into a rental. After 3 weeks of calling our agent and other workers and mannnnnnnny messages left later were still stuck with no rental as agent promised as of 725 my car is still in collision shop 5months later. 1 week ago I went down demanding my car be given to me after getting so many run around with my insurance nonreturn calls back ever from both or there not there or on vacation and my agent and no one helping me at all. The loud noise that was supposed to be fixed from him claiming my car was ready sat outside lot for 5 weeks, still left agent and other cust.service know of situation. I went down after several days of no returned calls and wanted my car out and taken to my trusted collision place, start my car in his parking lot while he's outside with me and STILL making loud noise in engine My car had been there another month with no work being done, no rental car as insurance promised and was out 450 due to horacemann not taking car of us and the many many many vm left and always getting the run around with horaceman. Spoke to manager of claims at HHoraceman sent adjuster to my home and informed me to take my car to my body shop I trust and have them inspect car and find problem, ends up being the whole time actually the whole actually compressor which insurance paid for a new one and the collision place NEVER replaced it And now Horace Mann refuses to pay to have my car fix even after finding out they payed for a new compressor and my car is still in shop One rep claims she's working on getting us a refund on money out of pocket on rental care when no one notified us, my whole front end was destroyed, engine was completely broken off and pushed all the way up to windshield,hood of car was completely bent in half and broke windshield.. everything under the hood needed to be replace due to impact of damages. Now my insurance full coverage with horacemann is refusing to pay for the problem that collision place took 3 months to never even work on. I'm now gonna be out another 900 to pay for part when my insurance has not helped me one bit in this nightmare. Paper work claims car repair should take 13days my car has been in shop from March 6th and currently still in shop after almost 5 months Remind you I have children, work, go to school, kids have school and have had no vehicle this whole time not even a rental like insurance promised. So disappointed, frustrated, mad I'm tired of getting the run around from my agent and reps, and so pissed the manager in claims tells me to take my car out of shop to have adjuster re look at the work on car and tells me to take it to my trusted shop and end up telling me there not covering the AC compressor I'm not letting this go and even paid 1000.00 deductable to leave without my car in April and it's almost august still no car"

"We had insurance with this company for approximately 30 years. During this time, we have only had two claims. The first was an accident involving a deer. Recently, one of our vehicles was in a hail storm. It was a nightmare getting this claim settled. The company wanted us to have the car repaired at a shop one hour away from our home. They were very unprofessional in every aspect of handling the claim. We have since cancelled our policies and moved on to another company. We are still having issues since they have reinstated the insurance after numerous calls and faxs to cancel the policies. Be very careful with this company. They are very disappointing and not professional at all"

"BEWARE You may save money with this company, as I did. And than if/when you file a claim, GOOD LUCK I cannot express how crappy this company is in every form and fashion. My wife had hit a deer and did $4700 dollars worth of damage on a $5-$6000 vehicle, full coverage. 28 days later, they determined its a total loss. REALLY You fricken geniuses I was once told, you don't know how good/bad your insurance is until you have an accident. Horace Mann-28 days and no settlement, Progressive- 4 HOURS and check in hand. bye bye Horace mann"

"The process of taking the money that I invested,for retirement, with Horace Mann was horrible. Other companies require nothing but a letter or phone call. Horace Mann requires months worth of paper work. They not only make you jump through the proverbial hoops but they require you to build the hoop to their specification. RUN AWAY "

"Words cannot express how disappointed I am with Horace Mann. I have been with this company since I bought my first car 33 years ago. In that time I had filed only two claims. In February of this year I was injured in an accident where I was a passenger. Minnesota state law very clearly stated that Horace Mann owed me for my lost wages, which amounted to a whopping $131. Horace Mann lied to me for six months straight denying that they owed me the money. I finally told them enough is enough and I am hiring a lawyer. Three days later I got a check in the mail for $131. To this day they still deny that they owed me the money, claiming they only paid "to make me whole." So buyer beware. This company will lie to your face and never bat an eye."

"I recently moved to an adjacent zip code, and Horace Mann increased my rates $290/yr. I had been a customer for over 15yrs. This caused me to review my auto insurance, and I found that Horace Mann had been overcharging me approx. $1000/yr more than any other company."

"Do not insure with Horace Mann They do not pay covered damages Their adjusters are unscrupulous and dishonest, so all claims are denied. No wonder their rates are cheaper. You get what you pay for. We will never insure with them again"

"Horace Mann is the worst Leak under my dishwasher and because I didn't know it for a month they won't pay. I was told that if the leak had existed for only a couple of day and I noticed it they would have paid. What difference does it make if it was two days or one month? I was also told as an example that if I had a leaking pipe that they would not pay. But if I have a pipe that bursts they would pay. If I ever see a leaking pipe in or under my house I am going to make damn sure the SOB is broken in two with an ax"

"My insurance agent is absolutely amazing His staff are very helpful and very knowledgeable with their clients. I'm very happy with the rates on my home life and auto. I was a little shocked when I read some of the customer complaints about the horrible customer service. That is the main reason I don't shop around is because I love the very friendly customer oriented staff. They do a review often to make sure we still have the best rates and to keep things updated which is very professional and I never got that before with my other insurance companies."

"Horace Mann has a very limited network of agents in each geographical location. Basically you are stuck with a very limited choice if any. For that reason the agents are not very customer friendly at least in my experience. They do not call you back they do not answer emails on time if at all. They act in a ignorant and disrespectful way and because Horace Mann has good rates you kind of stuck. I wish Horace Mann allowed brokers to sell their insurance or went Direct maybe that would improve their agents' act. I filed a complain with the Company about my agent and they just forwarded my complain to him nothing was done or improved. I am considering switching but the problem is that they are the the cheapest."

"If you are completely at fault for an automobile accident then Horace Mann will do the bare minimum for the car you hit. I was in involved in a car accident and I tried to help the driver of the other vehicle as much as I could. Both the other driver and my calls were not returned for several days AFTER the accident. The adjustor is quite possible the worst customer service rep that I have ever had to deal with. She called me the other day while obviously eating or chewing gum. If you are a masochist and like to inflict pain on others then by all means go with Horace Mann. Just know that you will definitely be contacted by the other drivers and eventually their lawyer because your insurance refuses to return their calls or get them any assistance. Terrible."

"40 Years with them and had a little fender bender and My rates more then doubled. Less then 1200 in damages mind you. Ok I stayed around. I just had an hvac leak at my home and they decided to not cover it.Luckily the flood company that came out was amazing and worked with me. I am in shock how they treat customers. "

"This company is an absolute JOKE I have not made a claim in 13 years--which is the extent that i have had Horace Mann. My car was hit and I decided to make a claim. I got three estimates the lowest being 3400 and the highest was 4000. MY adjuster sent out an additional agent whom provided an estimate of 1200. They only paid out for their estimate. I complained and complained but they would not budge They have made a mockery out of my claim I am definitely looking for another company that will appreciate my business and safe driving record"

"Provided one quote then apologized that we "misunderstood" the quote when it monthly payment was no less than our previous insurance company that was hands down better than Horace Mann. Wrong information referenced cars that are not even ours when answering a question failed to enter our AARP driver safety certifications immediately saying they have to wait for the next renewal period. Changing companies and not looking back"

"Hail storm on May 20 2014 and some neighbors have new roofs. Horace Mann field adjustor said we might get an answer in 1 to 3 months. Or the claim just might be lost on someones desk. Glad our roofing company rep heard the statement. Very unprofessional and claim rep said our being with the company 42 years doesn't mean anything. Do yourself a favor and find another insurance company. Why have insurance"

"Had auto home life policies since 1980. Was primarily satisfied but thomeowner rates just got ridiculous finally shopped around. I was astounded at the difference in rates...switched to Nationwide saved around 1700 on homeowners three auto policies. I feel my agent should have been looking out for me when these rates got so high...never heard a word from him before or after the cancellation...that's after 33 years of doing business. Disappointed"

"Company uses every opportunity not to pay. They will go out of their way to give you as little as possible. My home was broken into. They paid out less than half of what the replacement cost was after deductibles and then promptly dropped my coverage. All in all I have a higher opinion of the robber than Horace Mann."

"It took over a month to underwrite our policies and now I cannot get our agent to return our calls or emails. I simply had a few questions regarding my existing policies in comparison to the new HM policies. Not apples to apples. Cheaper yes. So glad I did not cancel my old policies. However I am cancelling my HM policies effective immediately. My USAA agent turned me on to this site. I am grateful."

"Our house burned and Horace Mann's settlement offer was so low-ball it was laughable. We hired an excellent private aduster and without him we would be dead. This company ignores claims state regs and deadlines and will not communicate. The first adjuster they assigned from the other side of the country was fired. The new adjuster ignores us. The fire was 6 months ago and nothing has happened. DO NOT do business with Horace Mann "

"They are dropping me because I have had two minor accidents in the last two years. They say it is too close together. But they have only paid out 1500 in one of these situations and that is all they have ever paid in the entire time since I took the policy in 1980. I have not received a ticket for either."

"I live in Idaho and I am so greatful for my agent. I understand that companies need to do rate changes but he has always helped me feel comfortable and in some cases reduce my rates without changing the policy."

"We switched to this company because they offered significant savings 600/year because of educator discounts. After the first month with them we began being assessed additional charges. One of the bills never came to us and our vehicle insurance was cancelled without our knowledge. Then after this was finally resolved the renewal at 6 months showed more charges to our account. We were told that when the good student discount for our teen was processed they realized they had "forgotten" to charge previously for her "inexperienced driver" status. What they discount with one hand they take with the other and more. So now we are actually paying more than what we had paid previously with our other insurance company where we had been very happy for ten years. Switching soon "

"We went from Allied to Horace Mann because the rates were FAR less for auto insurance. Our teenage son crashed his car one week after getting his license. Horace Mann covered the wreck without reaming us by raising the rates. We were impressed. We also like having a local agent. We recommend Horace Mann to everyone who qualifies. Are they only for educators? Not surebut after AAA State Farm and Allied Horace Mann is an affordable godsend. Especially if you have teen drivers"

"My local Horace Mann agent is great She is always doing something to help local schools and educators. My home and auto insurance premiums are so much lower than they were with my previous company or any others I have gotten quotes from and the customer service is outstanding. I love the smart phone app"

"Great prices. Great local agent that is in my school every couple of months. I had an auto claim that they handled wonderfully and paid out much more than what I believed my totalled vehicle was worth. All I can say is how much I like this company more than my previous company."

"Cannot get anyone to respond to call or emails. Have not received statements in two years -- no proof of insurance forms etc but the payments continue to be pulled from account. Went witout homeowners because we never received the bill. Team must be overworked becasue we can NEVER reach them. Very disappointed."

"Their rates and coverages are better than anyone else. I had a claim on my roof thinking I might need to fight like my neighbors did with their other insurance carriers...but to my suprise there was no argument or fight. They called to make sure we were ok and everything went as planned. I like the fact that I truly "know" my agent and he treats me as family. Thanks Horace Mann"

"We have been extremely disappointed in Horace Mann. The claims department is extremely unprofessional. THere was a false claim filed against our account. The claims adjustor paid them without any evidence of damage etc. and without even talking to us their clients first. Our premium has risen over 100.00 since we began coverage with Horace Mann just a little over 3 years ago and we have never filed a claim"

"I was in a car accident where it was more logical to total out my car than to fix it but they demanded that the collision company fix it. Not only that but I have had nothing but trouble with them and their communication with the rental car company to get an extension."

" Horace Mann Insurance for over 6 years. Signed up for e notifications 1 yr ago. When needed to file claim was informed via phone call that insurance had lapsed and been cancelled. Also notified via phone that 2nd vehicle was to be cancelled in one day. No email notification was received. No email could be traced on my home computer. Once Horace Mann was notified of claim all sorts of email MAGICALLY appeared. Result No insurance coverage. No payment for claim. No satisfaction from Insurance Commisioner. Have never missed insurance payment in over 35 years. WATCH OUT NEVER USE THIS COMPANY"

"Company actually does the right thing when it comes down to when you actually need them. My agent values and understands educators and I get great benefits for being a teacher. The bottom line is different companies have different rates in different areas. In my area Nothern CA Horace Mann has great service low rates and has always done the right thing."

"I have had Horace Mann insurance for a little over 3 years now and I have to say I am quite satisfied with the service that I have received. My agent is very attentive and makes sure to answer all my questions even about my retirement benefits. They paid out the claim right away when I got in to an accident as well. "

"Company states it provides preferred rates for educators and that it advocates for them. It is absolutely untrue infact they prey on teachers. They mislead you with enticing rates initially the ease of direct payroll withdrawl and the lowest teen driver rates. After the first year the rates were increased. In addition I added a new car and the rates sky rocketed. As a family we maintain excellent driving records with no tickets accidents and points. I comparison shopped and recieved quotes. For the exact same coverage we were paying over 50% more. Needless to say I cancelled our auto policy for 4 cars and homeowners. They did not even question why we were cancelling. Good business practice right?"

"Been with Horace Mann over 25 years in GA and have had several auto and homeowner claims during that time. Have never had any problems with the claims but was sometimes difficult to get my old agent. New agent is very responsive and has a great staff."

"When we had to file a claim no one responded to our many calls. They kept saying that an adjuster would call but days have gone by and no one has called. The person handling our claim on the phone has already told me that the adjuster will give us a quote less that the body shop. How do they know that when no one has even seen the damage yet? I sense a major scam"

"Horace Mann has been a great insurance company to deal with in MN. Rates are on par with the other companies who have given me quotes. My agent in Duluth is very knowledgeable and attentive.2 major claims1 lightning strike and 1 auto accident. Both were resolved without a hitch."

"Claim service excellent for auto including windshield replacement and recently windshield repair Life insurance OK I let my whole life 10K policy lapse after using the cash value of policy.. No homeowner claims experience Had one poor experience with tax defer. anuity rollover from Horace Mann to Merrill Lynch--agent was the problem. Home office staff was very helpful in process."

"Company for teachers huh. When my wife had to take a sabatical for a year due to health reasons and her pay was cut 40 we fell a month behind on one bill and it dropped our credit score. So at renewal they upped our rate by 500. Called it Homeowner Experience... Never claimed a claim from day one. Work with people HM. Your here for the teachers. "

"Horace Mann found me at fault when I hit debris on the freeway which I couldnt see until the car in front of me cleared it higher wheelbase than mine By then it was unavoidable. Sleazy company. Been a customer for thirty years and never filed a claim before. Now theyre hassling me over a 16000 dollar payout. "

"This company left us uninsured due to an internaldropping of the ball in relation to a requested schedule payment. All forms were signed and we expected our company to do their paper work. However this became an unexpected nightmare for us even though we held documentation that we were insured SHAME ON YOU WE DID NOT MAKE THE ERROR YOU DIDyou left us vulnerable when simple communication could have rectified this situation. AGAIN SHAME ON YOU "

"Their call center is staffed with very nice people supporting a weak slow and customer unfriendly system. It has taken two weeks for me to hear the same explanation for a problem that AAA will be solving for me in about 30 minutes."

"This is a great insurance company for educators. They have always been there for my family and have an easy claims process. Unfortunately we have had several wrecks with them and they have taken great care of us each time. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for good rates and good customer service"

"I got Into an accident 2 months ago we overnight shipped all of the documents they requested the same day they requested it.We did everything they asked of us and 2 weeks later they say we didnt send them anything and we screwed up.So we pulled up the tracking numbers and proved that they signed for EVERYTHINGAfter a few angry conversations and threatening to leave they finally provided a rental car while they tried to sort out THEIR ISSUES.I have had the car for nearly a month now. They havent paid out any money for my car. They havent communicated where they are in the process to us.And to add insult to injury they called up the rental company and told them they arent going to pay for the rental car anymore despite the fact they havent given me a settlement to make a down payment on another car.I will have no way to get to work or school shortly because of this.They are aware of this and dont seem to give a damn.They will loose your stuff and blame you for it just look at the other customers reviews.This is a COMMON occurrence in this companyThey will try anything to put off and avoid a claim.Stay as FAR away from this company as you canThey are cheap enough and seem ok until something happens.Then even long term customers dont matter to them.We are quite likely switching insurance from this nightmare."

"Claims department doesnt know what they are doing or what different coverages on the policy are for. It seemed if they didnt know they just said no its not covered and they didnt know a lot When you call customer service you hold for a long time. One time I held for over 45 minutes and then they didnt have the answer. The billing is a nightmare. I got bill after bill not knowing which one was paid and which not. All I can say is that its very confusing. You also get a different policy for every vehicle in your house. So if you have 3 cars...you have 3 policies. CRAZY The life insurance is way expensive and Im about to change to another company - Genworth - for 1/3 of the cost same thing - term insurance for 20 years and Im older now with high bp which I didnt have before. The house insurance is a joke. I had a pipe break under my foundation and they only paid for 5000 to fix it. Something I was never told about by the agent. I trusted the agent to do what was right because they have been at our school for years. Wouldnt you know they just sold stuff to get a sale and not what is in the best interest of the teacher. Im really furstrated with Horace Mann and all their employees Ive even talked with supervisors that are worthless If you are with this company...get out now before you have a claim. "

"Holy Cow this insurance company sucks! I have never NEVER experienced poor customer service like this. We have had a string of agents, and each is worse than the last. They dodge calls and emails. I have been trying for 6 mo. to have a simple addendum to our policy. When I thought it was taken care of, I get a letter from the regional office saying it was overruled. "I sent 3 e-mails and left 2 voicemails with an agent regarding a claim and they failed to respond for 5 business days. This is unacceptable, a simple reply back saying "we are working on it" is all I ask. Then when I finally got a call back they said that my damage didnt meet the deductable? considering every estimate (4)was well over the deductable I find "fishy" that their apprasier felt it wasnt. "My husband has been with this company with 25 years, and I insured my car with them for about 10 or 12 years. They are not cheap. I was a victim of a car accident, rear ended by a van, the other party accepted liability immediately. Still, my insurance carrier treated me like I was the guilty party, via a third party requested me to visit a doctor (working for the court) who treated me like Gestapo on American movies. The examination was futile because by that time I already went through a spinal surgery. I would have expected my insurance carrier protect my interest not to try to act against me."

"I can not recommend Horace Mann Insurance I just switched all my car insurance away from Horace Mann Insurance, because of the way I was treated by their claims estimator and Utah state level manager. I had photos and witnesses, but they were not interested in them. The new company is saving us more than $1000 per year on 4 vehicles, with a lower deductible. My advice keep shopping, I wish I had."

"Our agent has never called us back without mulitple phone calls to him first. We are not high maintainance customers. Most questions could be answered in less then 5 minutes and we have only made one claim in 16 years. We have never received an apology for lack of response and it has not changed over the years. At one point we asked for a new agent. We got one who was even less responsive than the last. That agent left and we were reassigned to our original agent ...the one we had asked to be reassigned. One of the only pieces of advice he gave us was against making a claim as a result of a basement flood. Bad advice. It recently took our agent 6 days to return a call about adding a driver (also referred to adding $$$)! I would not recommend this company."

"I just had my auto premium doubled when moving 12 miles from suburb to city with no other changes. Other insurance company quotes were 350\per 6 month cheaper. After one claim they cost me 200 by not getting their adjuster to commit on time.Their customer service is one of the worst and I my agent doesn't even call back. Definitely would not recommend them. "I had 2 auto policies dropped for non-payment, however Horace Mann never sent the legally-required notice that they were going to drop us, thereby leaving us without any coverage. My initial bills had been misplaced, and I simply forgot to pay them (obviously my error) - but I never received another notice - nor did my agent call me warn me that my coverage was going to be dropped. When I asked my agent about this, he simply stated that he received "over 50 notices from the home office each week" about people whose policies were about to lapse, and he "did not have the time" to call all of them. I had been insured by them for 22 years - and they dropped me and refused to re-write my policies, after leaving me and my wife uninsured for a period of weeks. Absolutely unconscionable conduct for an insurance company. "

"My husband was hit by an uninsured driver and our vehicle was totalled. They told us they are offering us the "fair market value" but that is a joke! I sent them 10+ ads for comprable vehicles all for sale for thousands more than their offer. They stated they didn't care, wouldn't look at them (illegal!), and their offer was non-negotiable. "I had cost replacement coverage with HM. I had a sump pump overflow due to power outage during a storm. They took over a month to settle (two weeks just to get an adjuster to view damage)and I had to fight for most everything that was damaged. When all said and done my 1000.00 deductable was more like a 5000 deductable because they did not give us the funds to make our newly finished basement like it was before damage occured. They are scammers and crooks. avoid like the plague"

"I had insurance with this company for over 10 years and covered on my parents policy before that. I bought a new truck the agent wrote the policy and did not send it in. I had to ask for a bill. Then a couple of years later I have an accident. In the process on of the customer service people say the I am due for a discount having been with the company for a couple of years. I had been with the company, uninterrupted, for over a dozen. Why did I not have the discount. To my view, they had been over charging. I canceled the policy and when with another company."

"Was loyal client or 4 years untill they cancleed my HO policy for absolutely no reason. I have NEVER filed any claim with either po;icy, and always paid the premiums two weeks before they were due. All three of my Credit scores are in the 820 range, and my health and insurance scores are exemplary. Horace Mann sent a letter telling me that they were transfering my HO policy to their affilate 'Sunshine State'. When I received the renewal from that company, my HO insurance rate was tripled. I cancelled the policy. I will NEVER hire this company nor recommend Horace Mann to anyone, ever again. Thank you for reading. "

"I canceled my auto policy after receiving a 16% increase in my auto policy for no apparent reason (no new car, excellent driving record etc). I called the main office for an explanation of the increase - but they were very vague and not helpful. I canceled by fax to my agent several days before the automatic payment was due to be deducted. He followed up with a confirmation call that same day. However, the payment was still deducted. I called my agent and his assistant looked into it. At this point I am still trying to get my refund which the main office said has been processed and mailed. Supossely it was mailed over a week ago - but they said that before. It has been over 6 weeks - still no refund. "

"Our agent misrepresented the policy coverage. After she told us that our coverage was equivalent to what we currently had, my parents switched companies as well. After making a claim, coverage for them was completely denied and we were then told that we also were not covered for anything but fire and a few stated perils. That isn't what the agent told us when we signed up, even when we had asked. My parents are now out $30,000 and their insurance company has abandoned them. "

"Their rate system is such that they offer worse rates to loyal customers than to new business and will not switch existing customers to lower cost policies. I will be shopping elsewhere for car insurance. So, someone walking in off the street will pay less than a long term policy holder."
