"My husband has this insurance for his work for life short term and long term disability. He was off work for over a year from a medical condition and this company took forever to pay the claim and then after a year of paying every month they refused to pay for the last month and we had to file an appeal to get our money. My husband went back to work and worked for a year before having another medical condition that is keeping him out of work. He has been in the hospital 3 times and it is now over three months and they have not sent us a dime. They have excuse after excuse not to pay. This is something we pay into so that we have un income if there is a medical issue keeping him out of work but this company has the worst service and takes forever to process you claim and finds any reason not to pay. We have not choice to deal with this company sense it is through my husbands employer but I would not recommend them to anyone. "

"They have 34000 of mine and say I have no money coming to me when I close the account? I am retired Army and can not afford to loose that much money. And they want to charge me 25 for a copy of the policy so I can have a lawyer check it out? "

"As a teacher I am swapping my ING account to another provider and am furious how they are using stall Tactics and holding my money. My financial person said they are the only company he knows of that actually hold Money for 21 days. It's horrible. They keep saying they don't have this or don't have new company processes business in 24 hours. And sent them required forms the next day.....what a joke"

"I attempted to cash in a life insurance policy in Febuary. They owe me 5000. And have given me a total run around since. To be honest I don't know if I'll ever get the money. I just file a complaint with the Illinois Dept. of Insurance."

"The allowed my policy to lapse. ING stated that we did not pay my life insurance premium. We faxed them the check that they had cashed endorsed by them to prove that we have paid. Now 3 weeks later they still have not reinstated my policy. I have been calling and emailing and no one will help me they just say "This is being researched right now" Such a terrible thing to be giving someone the runaround on."

"The idiots at ING Reliastar still have my address wrong after 5 attempts If they cant even get the address correct how much attention can I expect to get if a claim is filed They seem to lack any adult supervision. I am looking for another insurer who can at least receive and process the highly intellectual challenge of getting the address correct. It appears to be beyond they capability."

"After paying into this company provided insurance policy for almost twenty years I became disabled in 2008. In 2009 I began receiving long term disability payments from ING. After less than a year ING cut off my payments and now they are claiming that I owe them over 17 thousand dollars because I started getting Social Security benefits. This company sucks!!"

"Had a cancer policy with a company under ING. Took 6-8 months of constant calls. letters, threats to get them to pay and then the final payment was less than 6 months premium. (Prostrate cancer). "

"My Dad had a term life ins. policy with ING. At the end of the term they increased the policy from @$1400/yr to over $9000/yr. I can see there being an increase, but over six times the previous rate."

"They have tried to blame me in regards to car accident. I was the middle car. Was re-ended by full size gm truck. Sent over 100 feet down the road. Only brakes where from my car. After constant harassment by ING trying to blame me for the accident. Finally got a lawyer. They can deal with this useless insurance company. "

"Regarding a 90+ year old lady who has paid her premium timely for over 30 years, now that she is over 90 and closer to being dead anytime they have sent notices saying her Policy is being lapsed due tolack of funds. To secure the policy they claim that 4times the premuim had to be paid immediately and that amount would be the new premuim to be paid quarterly. Having sent payment, in less that one month later another similiar letter arrived that indicating that another payment is due in 3days.!!!! This companies is no good they are rip-offs. Poor old lady is using almost all her Social Security money to secure her life isurance."

"ING is great at taking your premium but they do not pay out. you have to send lawyers after them to cover there policy committments"

"My vehicle was written off by a drunk driver in a stolen vehicle and the amount that they wanted to settle with was not enough to replace the vehicle that I was driving. Because I had not purchases a new vehicle, there is a depreciation rate. Although my vehicle was less than two years old, they would not compensate me for a vehicle of my age. I could not replace my vehicle for the amount they wanted to give me, yet I am expected to pay full premium prices."

"It took me several months to get my address changed. Their telephone customer service is not good. Typically 30 minutes plus on hold and then the person does not know how to handle problems. Letters get no reply. Their billing department makes one mistake after another.... Stay away from this company if you can. I took out a policy with Equitable Life insurance company of Iowa 50 years ago. It is now ING. I would like to cash in the policy just to get away from ING but I would take a large loss. When I die it will take my family Months of Hasseling to get a pay out. I may take the Monetary loss now to prevent my family from having problems with ING later."

"Use any stall tactic they can think of to pay non questionable claims. 6- 8 months to get refund - no personal vehicle during that time (rental paymnet covers 10 to 15 days max). Ignorant and rude adjustors and not professonal at all."

"Everytime I have to do ANYTHING with this policy (change address, change beneficiary, pay annual premium, etc) they are horrible to work with. Hold times to the service centers are in excess of 20 minutes typically. My agent is retired and dead, so there is no way to get help unless I call them directly. They are perfectly nice people, but not knowledgeable, timely or service-friendly. They need more staff and more training if they want to even keep their existing business."

"When trying to file a claim the adjuster does not show up for at least 5 days and then everything is viewed as a maintenance problem even though ice caused the damage that would have otherwise not occurred. Horrible to deal with and I highly recommend not having insurance before getting insurance through ING."

"A Mechanic damaged my vehicle on the garage's private property. In Canada this means it is not a vehicle accident and the no fault insurance rules do not apply. The garage (or it's insurance company) is responsible for all cost related to the damage. It took me 6 hour of arguing with three levels of managment at ING before they would cover the costs of a rental vehicle and the costs of insuring the rental (ironicly this was the long fight). They wanted my insurance company to cover the insurance for some reason. I recieve a call at 4:00pm I was told the repairs were complete and the body shop (different from the garage that did the damage) was open until 5:30 and that if I didn't return the rental that day I would be responsible for any additional cost related to the rental. ING customer service SUCKS "

"A woman ran through the side of my garage. The company ING contacted to do the repair work took 4 months before they even started the repair. Asked me to fill out the Certificate of Completion without looking at the work. Had them come back to finish some things that hadn't been completed. In the meantime, I had to send them a cheque for $500.00 (my deductible) even though I wasn't at fault and the woman who went through my garage had insurance. The work has been completed and ING now tells me that my claim will be sent to their recovery team and it will take them 6 - 8 months to get my deductible back to me. I wonder how they would feel if it took me 6 - 8 months to submit my premiums to them. Not impressed with this claim or any other time I have had to contact them. Never seem to get all the information and when they send me renewal information it is always conveniently missing."

"I put a claim on April 2008 for damages to my pool due to heavy loads of ice and snow due to winter conditions up here in Quebec Cnaada;and it them 7 months to finally send a partial payment for the damages!! The agent or adjuster was not returning my call or e-mails..I finally had to call her boss/ boss to get ans answer....This company sucks!"

"They wanted us to combine our policies and argued that we would save money. In fact our insurance went up by four hundred dollars! There were other ongoing minor issues. The broker always phoned us at our emergency number. We weren't allowed to pay annually, which works much better for us. We were unable to renew our home insurance for less than a year."
