"Liberty Mutual stiffed my family of four when our house flooded. We found a cleanup vendor and asked Liberty if they accepted the vendor. They said sure, they worked with them all the time, and that the vendor was not a problem ... Until they got the bill, at which point they stiffed the vendor, which is now going after my family for the balance. All because Liberty decided it was better to save a buck and benefit their shareholders. The day they get shut down for the ponzi scheme that they are, I will be jubilant and dancing in the streets. Until that day, I'll probably be LIVING in the streets, along with my wife and children."

"A construction truck tossed a stone that broke the driver's window of my car. The construction company was very gracious and gave me all their insurance information. They told me to call my insurance, Liberty Mutual, make a claim, and give Liberty Mutual their insurance information. I have been trying for over an hour to make a claim. I have called four telephone numbers and tried on line. On-line I could not create the account. I have left two messages on two different numbers. They will get back to me within 24 hours. What if they call while I am at work I am without a window until this is resolved. Time to find a new insurance company."

"We had a significant hail storm in our area. Numerous neighbors required reroofs after inspection. Despite 2 contractors with a reroof estimate and Liberty Mutuals own field adjuster filing both written and pictorial report with same recommendation, their review board denied our claim. They explained the field adjuster needed more training. As a result we have been forced to file a lawsuit. We have been customers for 23 years."

"Filed claim for wind damage. Broken tiles from probably an object that struck roof. Water leaked into garage. Discovered the leak later, 2 hours before another storm was to hit. Happened to just have paintersroofers in the neighborhood. They are licensed and bonded. They fixed it before the storm hit. Paid them and filed a claim. Denied by Liberty Mutual. Without inspecting, both agent and adjuster claim wear and tear not covered. Despite broken tiles from something striking house, they continue to claim wear and tear not covered. Terrible customer service, argumentative, talk down to you, and are annoyed they have to explain it to you. If they will nickel and dime you on obvious covered claim, what will they do on the big items Forge these clowns. I was with them for 10 years. Worthless. They don't have your back. Get some other insurance, these guys are a scam."

"Premiums continue to increase. The company pays no fault claims to any individual calling regarding an accident with a LM insured customer even if the officer has written the incident is a no fault and each driver will pay for their car damages private parking lot incident."

"I have a mold policy and they refuse to pay and now i'm devastated and about to be homeless, because I can't afford the repairs. I can't live in mold and mold spores. That will kill us. I pay almost 4000.00 a year and have a expanded homeowners policy and was emailed and told I was covered and they still denied the claim. I'm disabled and devastated. Two people from there company came almost a month after I found the problem took pictures and told me I wasn't covered even though I had the policy and I could see the issue until because it was hidden behind tile that was there when we brought the house. This is so horrible. This is the worse company I have ever seen. They need to be dealt with by all governments and brought to their knees. All customers should have every claim filled."

"Fell on black ice on the sidewalk of a business back in November, so I'm involved in a liability claim. Still waiting for them to pay the hospital ER bill. My doctor suspects I have a torn meniscus, but the hospital says I have to pay for the MRI myself because my hospital bill isn't paid yet. No surgeon will see me either because they say it takes them years to get reimbursed by Liberty Mutual, so they won't even mess with them. I have to pay for the surgery up front and then try to get reimbursed myself. Guess I'll be living with a bum knee the rest of my life."

"Everything starts off great. Then slowly every year the renewal cost begins to increase. At first they work with one to try and keep increases down. This last time at year number six was told that increase was unavoidable and would just have to pay the increase. No reward for six years of loyalty."

"Make them issue complete policy COMPLETE They will want paperless do not accept have them send complete policy. They will send what they want you to read policy But when you tell them you want all pages about 26 not 14 then you get the exclusions Adjusters are young kids that believe all are crooks , scammers etc. Called company that installed roof needing replaced crooks , stated that they did not install a 50 year roof on my home and wanted to replace with 30 year. Adjuster did not have proper equipment to do the job. Impressed with the fact he had pin and would be sending the check. They don't want to cover anything FAMOUS WORDS IT IS ONLY COSMETIC..... Hail Damage to my home...quarter and ping pong ball size hail pounding about 15 - 20 mins. Neighbors around are getting roofs gutters screens wood decks refinished by there insurance co. BY PASS LIBERTY MUTUAL as there commercial states Wrong policy -NO- Wrong Insurance Company There own words HOW TRUE I contacted company that installed damaged roof and shingle mfg. and advise them about my being scammed.....Liberty Mutual now agree to the 50 year roof...."

"Had a home inspection done by a representative requested by Liberty Mutual and was informed that the information was changed by Liberty Mutual so that they would have a reason to discontinue home insurance coverage. This company has rude representatives who are trained in giving you the run around, will not provide you with accurate information and is in it for the money. Not helpful, don't care about customer service and will lie to you about the cost. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY."

"Homeowners insurance just increased 15%. We have been with them for 11 years. One claim filed DUI Driver totaled my wife's car. It was a hit and run. He was caught. Fortunately, my wife was not in the car. There is no regulation limiting premium increases, so even if you switch companies, you're bound to run into the same problem with your next choice. What a bunch of BS."

"Keep raising the payments. Just learned they raised monthly payments for 2 cars one is liability,200 Grand Marquis, the other full coverage,2009 Mitsubishi Lancer over 55 dollars. No the payments are not 55 they raised it 55 dollars from 163 to 218 sth NEVER USE THIS COMPANY"

"We received a notice for renewal of our auto insurance to the tune of 100% increase. Our car is 8 years old. We have never filed a claim. Have lived at the same address for 2 years. Customer service gave us no reason for increase and could have cared less about our situation. We are both in our 80s . Sounds like age discrimination to us. Very unfair"

"I wish to God I had the opportunity to call into your Customer Service teams before paying my first premium. WORTHLESS and extremely unprofessional. When I expressed my desires to cancel the policy after my experience with another rep, the rep I was speaking with LITERALLY said I don't care if you cancel your policy......Say no more, I can't wait to share this feedback with ALL of social media. "My husband and I became Liberty Mutual customers 1116. They issued us a car insurance policy for 2 vehicles. We received information about our policy renewal earlier this month and have been assessed a 25% increase with no change in coverage My 1st call to them was on 119 a customer service rep told me the increase was due to the hurricanes -- not convinced. So I then called FL Office of Insurance Regulation and spoke with a very nice guy named XXXXXXXXX. He explained some of the rate-change procedures required by the state and to get the OIR filing number and gave me the webpage to search the filing. So after that, I called the company back -- the CSR I spoke to this time had no clue was an OIR filing number was. She told me that she would have a manager call me back with the information within 2 business days. This was also on 119. I received no response what a shock. I called again on 1114 330 pm and spoke to someone else who was clueless, but thought the increase was due to medical issues another crap explanation. I told her I would hold...35 minutes later I as given an NAIC code which has zero to do with filing, and OIR number of 2008 also not accurate and then a number of 04-1924000. She said this last number was called the FEIN code. Well, this number is nowhere to be found on your search page and seems to have too many digits. I'm searching for a new carrier as these folks are idiots. My husband is a veteran, so it's especially sad that these folks write policies for USAA."

"They fail to return phone calls, emails, communication is nonexistent. After a total loss when an 18 wheeler hit me and ran, I survived that trauma but not the psychological angst. 40 days later am still waiting for a response that is truthful. Their racketeering charges with body shops and the fraudulent CCC One Valuescope uses comps of wrecked cars to lowball settlement offers."

"We have had one good home claims adjuster. But he got promoted. Currently we have one that didn't like that we complained about him so he opened a phony investigation, delayed our payments, and is now holding us hostage with a second unfounded investigation. His manager stands with him. And so do their Presidential Service Team customer advocate set up because of the many complaints. But they are useless. Work with the adjuster we complained about. Hate these people."

"Added 2nd home to policy. LM sent inspector out, got a positive report other that mention of debris in driveway decorative rock delivery for re-landscaping and 12 SF drywall opening on interior for some re-wiring. LM sends letter canceling new policy claiming falsely that inspection revealed dangerous tree branches over roof - no such thing look at google maps silly, big LIE.. Since we had umbrella policy with them it was all or nothing. So after 7 years and no claims, we took our 2 cars 2 homes and umbrella policy to State Farm. Girl bye Hate to think what would have happened if we ever had a claim with these cowards."

"Excellent customer service.Agent was very helpful. Our rates went down 800 a year from Farmers Insurance and for much better coverage with deductables of zero to 100. Even with the 15% Coloroda state wide increase the agent helped us avoid the increase by a minor change to our policy. Thats a company lookingbout fir the customer firdt not their wallet."

"When I called for help, there was no problem and a tow truck reached me within 30mis. or less. The rep was very nice and helpful, she wanted to know if I was hurt, made reservation for rental car service. She couldn't have been more helpful. This was done on 6-2-17. I got hit after just picking the vehicle up from the body shop the day after. If you can believe that. I wish the person who hit me had an insurance company like yours and I wouldn't be pulling my hair out trying to get an adjuster to get things moving. I want my vehicle fixed. I took it back to Caliber Collision. No problems with you though. I want that understood. You have been nothing but GREAT. Thanks"

"LM insists we use it's contractor, who has financial problems but will do the work on the cheap. Low balling its bid to get the job. The desk adjuster, who we are to call when we had bids, refuses to return our calls or email. We are very senior citizens and are being taken advantage of. My husband was a police officer and when LM pitched itself to the FOP about how great they are, we bit. I'm sure many of the other members did the same."

"House burned on Christmas Eve. LM was evil and snaky suggesting that foul play involved. I worked all day with Army. They are liars, cheats. Stay away. I have literally told thousands and thousands of people not to get Liberty Mutual Insurance. In upper 70s now but never forgot their uselessness."

"My claim was for a home evasion , damage to my auto and home. My needs were met, the staff was polite and helpful. Legal aide was provided, but I needed to hire my own lawyer. Liberty Mutual submitted a RESERVATION OF RIGHTS.My complaint is that the cost keeps getting higher each year."

"I've never had to file a claim with Liberty Mutual, but when my 2 older kids were ready for car ins. I called and set up them on my policy he worked hard to get them the best rate. We were all happy with it. We had Farmers before and they never gave you the time of day."

"I have a short term disability policy with Liberty Mutual through my employer. I am being treated for breast cancer. I filed my claim more than a month ago. There always seems to be a different bit of information that they need before they pay my claim. In the meantime, I am behind in my rent, my car payment and other bills, yet Liberty Mutual doesn't even seem to be trying to pay my claim. If it were up to me, I would NEVER be a Lberty Mutual customer. "

"Read the exclusions and small print. They declined my claim. If you have a leak and do not notify them within 14 days. They WILL NOT pay you.>I am a 100% service connected disabled veteran that is retired. I have lived in Arlington, VA for about ten years. I have a secondary home in PA. I changed my insurance in 2014 to Liberty Mutual. The worse decision I did ask about flood>insurance the agent looked it up and said it was not a flood area and I would not need it. Now fast forward 15 Jan 2016, I received a text my neighbor said water in his basement was coming from my home. I immediately, called and my>family and then a plumber a pipe broke. "I have had Liberty Mutual Fire Insurance Company for a very long time. I had Prudential first and Liberty Mutual took over. So I would say about 20 plus years. Just received a letter stating that Liberty Mutual Fire Insurance Company is dropping my house insurance because of our dog. She is a mixed breed. I did not know that there was a restricted dog list. When I called Liberty Mutual to find out about my letter and a list of dogs that are restricted, the lady told me and I asked for the list to be sent to me. She said that the legal dept had to send it to me. The list of dogs - Siberian husky, Rottweiler, pit bull, German Shepard, Dalmatian, mixed breeds, and a few others. I cannot believe this. I am not happy with Liberty Mutual and will not recommend them to anyone. We have had a Siberian Husky for 14 years. She was a great dog. We have never turned in a claim with Liberty Mutual. I cannot believe this from Liberty Mutual. Again, I will never tell anyone to call Liberty Mutual. "

"Yes they provide cheap policies.>>However when tornado hits you ... expect this known corporate torfeasor Liberty to cheat you. >In my case LibertyMutual promised to repair roof and never did on the total loss, refused to adjust claim three times because Liberty adjuster knew and photographed that roof was leaking. Instead of flooring adjuster specified 3/8 underlayment, on damaged exterior walls they don't include insulation, adjuster uses R13 - in the attic, instead of wood windows - adjuster used aluminum, instead of stained doors - Liberty Mutual Crooks used unpainted, did not include fireplace, lied about the damaged furnace "never discussed" - despite it was stated in writing. On the trim they never include paint or stain, and if they forced adjuster will just uncheck the removal labor. On the siding "fraudsters" specified patches of 6" cedar instead of 12" and as cheats unchecked removal labor, did not pay for the damaged sheathing, moisture barrier, or deck removal and reinstall, avoided paying for proper dumpster. Their engineer declares everything pre-existing prior to entering the property and in the breach of Second Law of Thermodynamics declared humidity problems where moisture condenses on warm surface before the cold. They lie, they cheat and they protected by a-d shysters who willfully supplied address of abandoned property as our service address, miscite state law, supply intrinsically fraudulent affidavits, falsify claimlog, they even supplied falsified policy. This company - is dirty. You would be stupid to buy this "Great expectations insurance". "

"Very unsatisfied vehicle got minor damage during floor. Filed a claimed only to be sent to a auto body shop, auto body shop sent it to dealer for estimate gave me an estimate for work that was recently done to vehicle without their knowledge. On top of that I also had to come out of pocket to pay 98.00 for the estimate. My advice would be to others go to BBB and read all reviews before selecting an insurance company."

"I just don't feel like there is any value with this company. I pay a fortune and get no real benefits from it. The only time a claim was ever submitted was when someone else hit us and that happened to have the same company. we have excellent driving records, credit education everything and all I see is my rates go up and I never get a break from this company. "

"I have been grossly overcharged and taken advantage of by liberty mutual insurance. I have had homeowners insurance with them for 17 years and was unaware that I was paying 3 TIMES as much as everyone one else in my county. I am extremely low risk and have only submitted one claim in 17 years. "

"They did not honor their guarantee for the life of my repairs at their total care repair facility. If you go outside of their total care facilities to your own body shop they low ball you on your claims settlement and are very disrespectful. I have been a longtime customer and have insurance on four vehicles currently but not for long. Their premiums are too high to accept this type of bad customer service. "

"Your luxury car was rear ended by an uninsured motorist. You are hurt, but there will be a different kind of pain. It comes when your insurance company says they'll only pay 3/4 of your uninsured motorists policy limit, and force you to arbitrate to receive the other 1/4. What are you supposed to do, get treatment for 3/4 of your injuries? Now if you had Liberty Mutual auto insurance, you'd get your claim handled just like that. I guess they don't want you renewing your policy. SMART. "

"Car damaged by tow company 3-2012. Car not repaired or total loss settlement at this time. It is 3-29-2015. I filed first party claim. I cancelled my home and tow other cars two years ago. I am now awaiting total loss settlement. Car declared total loss after adjusters finally contradicted their own lies in writing. The car was returned to the road TWICE as an unsafe vehicle. "

"Premiums are very high compared to other reputable insurance providers. I had paid on time for two years and found and decided to go back to my previous provider because of the high premiums. Liberty fined me 100 to cancel my auto insurance. Something I have never heard not had to pay before The premiums per year are 500 higher than the competion and j have a perfect driving record"

"I was injured at a small Christian school where I was working as a teacher in 2011. My school had a worker's compensation coverage through LIBERTY MUTUAL INSURANCE. I am suffering from TBI traumatic brain injury. From the time I realized I was not getting better on my own I initiated a claim. Mostly what I receive is lip service saying they will get me the medical care I need. In reality I get too little too late. By the time I got in a concussion clinic I was told that since it was after the 2 year mark that I couldn't expect as good of an outcome. This is my brain we're talking about. It affects well everything every area of my life. Due to too little care too late it is now November 2014 and I still can't work. My symtoms are getting worse not better. Due to horrible headaches migraines extreme sensitivity to motion lights and noise I now barely leave my bedroom and living room most days due to screaming headaches. I am battling depression with little prospect of getting my life back as it once was. Prior to the accident I had an IQ above 135 at my disposal and participated in Sprint Triathlons for fun. "This review is for all those who reviewed and are happy with Liberty Mutual. Apparently you have not yet presented a claim to Liberty Mutual. I did present a claim they refused to pay it in full to be responsible as they advertise and I was required to arbitrate my claim with them which resulted in an award in my favor for the policy limit and all costs involved. Of course this required several years of waiting and even after the award was served on them which was binding they took a full 30 days to pay it. Now as my reward to Liberty Mutual they have been sued for bad faith. I will report the results of the bad faith case when it is finalized........count on a few more years. Never ever insure with this company...ever."

"Have insured 2 autos my home and a summer home for the past 7 years. Read several articles about "price optimization" within the insurance industry and decided to take a closer look at my coverage and premiums. It turns out that I had been a lazy loyal customer for too long and was taken advantage of by Liberty Mutual. Took my business to another carrier and saved 1410.94 per year in premiums. My new coverage is nearly identical with an increase on my summer property and in addition provides a million dollar liability umbrella policy.Word to the wise check your policy statement each and every year and compare against the prior.I will never do any business with Liberty Mutual again."

"I switched to LM per a coworker's opinion and I like this company. My agent walked thru every line-item for my vehicle insurance and he also gave me insight into how much personal liability insurance would cost me because I visit Canada and France regularly so it was important for me to be covered in case of a car accident out-of-country. It's really inexpensive too. Also I have much better overall coverage than with my previous company. Overall I am pleased. My only complaint is that my agent's office could improve it's return-phone service because they do not call back quickly nor do they always call back when I have a question. "

"I left Geico for Liberty Mutual because they sent a letter to my office claiming great rates for Realtors. I called and indeed they did have very good rates so I switched my two auto policies 2 homeowner policies and umbrella insurance. Just got my notice due in 2 weeks mind you that the rate is going up HIGHER than it was with Geico. "I asked for a quote and then declined it for too expensive. They increased my rate 3200 a year any way and started taking the new rate out of the automatic withdrawal from my bank. They then refused to refund AND refused to take the new insurance off that I had declined. LIVID. Wrote BBB as well. As soon as find another company will be leaving them quickly. "I had my home owners insurance as well as my two motor vehicles insured with Liberty Mutual. Annual increases were getting ridiculous and since I never filed any claims with this company and both my wife and I have meticulous driving records I called to inquire about reducing my premiums. The agent I spoke to stood fast and the only way I could reduce my rates was through increasing my deductibles. Upon hanging up the phone I contacted another reputable company and without reducing my coverage and actually increasing coverage in some areas I was able to save 500.00 on each policy Home and Auto. I called my agent back at Liberty Mutual told them I switching to another company and was not even asked how they could keep my business after insuring with them for ten years. Horrible customer service and I am happy to be moving on. "

"I filed my 1st claim after 12 years of paying premiums. My shower leaked into my neighbors basement. I saw it with my own 2 eyes leaking onto her floor. I called a plumber and they said I had a clog in the line. I notified Liberty Mutual and they told me I was not responsible for the leak because I did not intentionally cause the leak. I saw the leak come from my shower Her damaged floor was in a closet about only 20 floor tiles were damaged. they refused to look at it or pay for it. "I have been with Liberty Mutual for 40 years. You might think that they would take care of such a loyal customer. I just got a renewal notice that raised my rates for three cars by over 300 per year. So I decided to shop around and found out that I could get better coverage for 1500 less. "Would never file a claim with them as they informed me that my rates would go up when I was hit while sitting at a stop sign by a man who ran the other stop sign and was hit by an FPL truck. The only reason I had them is my family has been with them for 40 years. Today that changes I am cancelling my 40 year policies and going with someone else. LM's response is we're sorry but that is how it is. I also have had to get Windstorm Ins. with a state exchange because Liberty Mutual quit providing that in Florida. They tell you that there is no one in the state that sells Windstorm insurance except a state exchange called Citizens Windstorm which is not true there are other insurances. Citizens will overcharge drop you quickly and never notify you or the mortgage lender and take up to 4 years to pay out. So are they somehow working together? "

"We got homeowners insurance through them. They came out and told us there was 3 repairs that needed to be made. We made the repairs they requested and sent pictures for proof...thought everything was ok. Got a phone call this morning that we had been cancelled. We got not warning or notice. Reason was cause we have for small dogs and they said their policy is you are only allowed 3 why were we not told this in the beginning when we took out the policy and they knew about it. Had another agent call and ask them about this. He told me that was a lie. They will never get any business from me again nor will I ever refer them to anyone. Very disappointed in the way they do business...Some of the people I dealt with on the repairs were very helpful ..but the B that called me this morning...rude and hateful. "

"After being a customer for 17 years I filed my first claim with Liberty Mutual. I recieved 10000 for a new roof. At the policy 6 month renewal one month later. The responding fire department location was changed on my policy and my rates increased 1000 per month. They are going to get that 10000 back pretty quickEvery quote I recieved was over 10000 less per year than what Libery Mutual was charging me. This included Liberty Mutual's own online quote of 3100 per year instead of the 15000 they raised my rates to.On checking with the Oklahoma Insurance Department website and compairing quotes. Liberty Mutual was the most expensive coverage for all insurance companies listed at that time. I would not recomend Liberty Muntual to anyone for anything."

"I was stopped on the freeway due to traffic when struck from the rear by an uninsured vehicle driven by a person with a suspended drivers license. I injured my neck and right shoulder requiring four neck surgeries and three shoulder surgeries. The third neck surgery resulted in permanent right vocal cord paralysis requiring two vocal cord surgeries which were unsuccessful. Liberty Mutual refused my repeated demands that they pay me my policy limit claimed that only my first two neck surgeries were related to the accident my three right shoulder surgeries were unrelated to the accident my last two neck surgeries were unrelated to the accident and since the third neck surgery was unrelated to the accident the permanent right vocal cord paralysis and two vocal cord surgeries were unrelated to the accident. Through their attorney they demanded arbitration. We arbitrated my claimand the binding arbitration award was for the policy limit. Never insure with them."

"We had auto and homeowners for about 9 years. They went up 20% again this year and refused to budge on the price. We cancelled. LM because we pay online snagged an extra payment for our policies. We paid one month up front. That means they snagged two months' worth of money they effectively stole from our bank account. Do not give them access to your account. "A tree fell on our barn. The inspector came the next day and gave me a check right then so I could start the process of having the tree removed. They were very helpful. They also have been very helpful any time we had a problem with our car. When a severe storm knocked down several trees which pulled the electric box off of our house I called them. I filed a claim with them thinking that they would go after the other insurance. 1 month into this with my truck sitting at a repair shop they had not contacted the other insurance and wanted to put a used motor out of a junk yard in my truck that had very little miles on it. the used motor would not be guaranteed. The repair shop wanted to rebuild our existing motor with warrenties included. "My employer uses Liberty Mutual for STD/LTD. I suffered a stroke and lost sight in one eye. Unable to perform my administrative job that required visual acuity both of my doctors took me off work. Liberty Mutual denied the initial claim and omitted pertinent information from my job description until I documented it in an appeal. I won the appeal and attempted to return to work for six weeks. Unable to perform the essential functions of my job my doctors took me off work again and I filed a new STD claim. Liberty Mutual denied the claim again and even omitted the pertinent information from my job description again to justify their denial. I appealed again they not only had their doctors disputing my doctors but extended their review time twice to delay the process. Liberty Mutual and their claim representatives are morally bankrupt. They ruin peoples lives in the interest of greed. I only pray that someday they will experience the same personal sufferring and there really is such a thing as Karma.As a Human Resources Manager I will never even consider hiring a former Liberty Mutual employee."

"No matter what you put a claim in for they will find a reason that you arent covered. They used to be a good company but no longer. They will not cover something that they could offer on an addendum but didnt offer and no one can tell me why they did not so therefore I am not covered. They do not take into consideration that our family has used their company since the 1940s. They really dont seem to care if you go to another company. "

In my opinion they try to cheat you out of money by tricking you. If it works they can keep the money. No penalty to them for the attempt. Then I felt like I needed to go to the trouble of proving that I had the particular coverage. If you go by the information that they tell you it would be possible to be cheated out of thousands of dollars. It seems like they make the claims process difficult and adversarial on purpose.If you make a claim with them and want what you are entitled to be forewarned."

"On the positive side Liberty Mutuals response to an accident claim was quick and responsive and we had a check for the cost of the vehicle to use in 10 days. However the downside is that rising cost of our insurance coverage seems to be overpriced compared to other insurers I guess time with a company and bundling really does not matter."

"I filed a Homeowners claim due to a roof leak which was declined which I accepted. However 4 months later they cancelled my policy without notifying me. I was notified by my mortgage company. Upon calling LM they realized they had not sent me a cancellation letter and would re-instate my coverage for 2 additional months and then cancel. I paid for ONE year in advance and they apparently have the right to cancel their own written contract 5 months early and issue a refund. Be aware. They cancel even when I did not follow thru with my claim or accept any money from them."

"Liberty Mutual employees are the most deceitful incompetent and rudest claims administrators around. The first claims administrator I spoke to lied about the times that she contacted me and my doctors office and about the requested information. I have in writing her lies and the actual proof that she lied. The second administrator was rude and every time I spoke to her she always acted like I was bothering her or putting her out. Is it too much to ask that someone actually does their job Then when they denied my claim they sent me another letter detailing why it denied. I appealed it and pointed out the incorrect facts that they had. They denied it again but this time a whole set of incorrect facts came up again. If you are going to deny my claim thats fine but do it with the correct information. When I called them all they said was that they werent going to do anything b/c I have only one appeal even if it is their mistake. The funny thing is that I have all of their incompetence in writing and they still dont care. Probably because they know that they have no repercussions for their actions. The bad rep that insurance agents have is because of companies like Liberty Mutual. I would not be their customer if I had a choice."

"First they had accidently canceled my auto policy instead of just dropping one vehicle that we had sold. Then about 6 months later I went to make my payment and granted it was 3 days late but that had cacelled my policy and refused to reinstate because they wont do it twice in one year. After all their mistake didnt count at all. Now I have been waiting for them to close out my homeoweners claim since January 22. and its now may and they tell me theyre not going to come out to get an estimate on my own and send it in. Fine this is what I did over a month ago and still nothing but my house torn apart from water damage not one fully functional bathroom in my house is months literally!!! This is totally unacceptable!!!!!"

"I had stage 3 cancer and during my treatments it damaged my colon. So know I have no warning no feeling. While with libery they put me through so much and canceled my claim so many times. I had two of my doctors explaining in every detail what was going on all visits tests hospital stays ect their doc that never saw me said theres something I can do.they just cut me off. And was told if I win my ssd case I must pay them back. This sucks and Yes I won my case the judge I had was great. He didnt understand why I was dropped with all the records I had on my health. Now we get a final bill for 250.00-plus, because they bill 45-days late. Firstly, an insurance company will not give you the insurance now and pay later. "I have CANCELED my Workers Comp insurance with Liberty Mutual, due to excessive and time consuming audits, asking for the same information EVERY quarter. "The management of this company should be in prison. My LTD was denied even though the State and Social Security found me disabled and three doctors indicated in writing that I could never work again because of a stroke and diabetes and five other medical problems.. They have basically ruined my live by not providing the Insurance when I needed it. I have lost everything I have and have to rely on SS to live. "After paying premiums on cars and homes plus an umbrella policy for over 40 years, when my house suffered hail damage, I had to deal with their "Catastophe Unit". And what a catastrophe. Full replacement coverage gave me a depreciated amount. Out of pocket repairs had to be submitted for reimbursement resulting in "begging" for my full replacement amount. I was told it had to be this way because homeowners would take the money and not repair their homes and have spoiled it for us honest people. That is not their decision. I in good faith paid the premium relying on their committment to good customer service and resolution of my damages. Adjuster was rude and profane. My agent does not return calls---got the impression from their office that this Catastophe Unit is regarded as very bad. Will decide what to do about renewing after this claim is settled. "

"I have short term disability with Liberty. I had to have emergency surgery appendicitis. Kept in Hospital over night. Went back for follow up visit with Surgon 9 days later had staples removed. Surgon put me out 5 more weeks no heavy lifting. When claim was filed. They denied and said I should have went back to work in 7 to 10 days. When my job consist of repetative lifting of 25 pounds or more. Doctor will not release early, Liberty will not pay for weeks out of work. That is the reson I took out STD in case of emercency. "I had full coverage on all my vehicles. First claim was when a tree limb fell and hit one of the cars. Liberty Mutual wanted to total the car instead of fixing it when there was absolutely nothing wrong with the car except the hood damage! When I refused, they turned me over for a fraud investigation! The next incident was when a rock hit the oil pan and damaged the engine. Even though the mechanic showed them the oil pan and explained everything to them, they insisted upon towing the car to their own shop for a second opinion. Well, of course, they refuse to pay the claim because they say it was from normal wear and tear and now I have to pay $295 diagnostic fee for their second opinion and $5 a day for storage to their shop for the time they had my car there and I have to pay to have the car towed back to my shop!!!! These people are outright crooks!"

"I had a massive seizure ont e job and 2 months later another reoccurence. Liberty Mutual was there foe me and my family. The process is tedious, but they are doing their best to make sure all the paperwork is correct. My case worker is a wonderful person and truly a "GODSEND", because he was very up front and honest with me and we work as a team to get my case completed. For me he put my mind to rest, because I have been through a lot and I am still going through more, but I am blessed to have such a wonderful person and company supporting me. "I was told that because I filed a homeowners claim with a different company 8 years ago that Liberty Mutual will have to hold that against me for 5 years and then I was told 7 years and now I look at my renewal and it went up $200 a month. I never filed a homeowners claim with this company. I am shocked. My home is worth $150,000 and I pay $917 a year for what? I was told if you go with a huge company you will get screwed and guess who is getting screwed. This company raises your premium if you have a driver in your home under the age of 25 and raises your homeowners insurance just because. "I have been with Liberty Mutual since 2004. I have 3 autos and 2 homes with them. This year I filed my first auto claim. I was very pleased with the ease of the entire process. There was no issue with my rental car which I had for 2 weeks and everyone kept me informed through the process. Eventough it later determined that the other driver was uninsured. My car looks and drives great! I am currently dealing with fire damage to my home which has rendered it uninhabitable. I can not be more pleased with how prompt the adjuster responded and has been in constant communication walking me through the process. I hope this treatment continues because I am very, very pleased so far both auto and home claims department so far. Maybe I am lucky, but everyone at Liberty Mutual has been absolutely. They did have the lowest prices!"

"It is very sad that to find out after 12 years how you have been ripped off by this company. We had a water damage which costed us around 5000 dollars. When we called, the company recommended that we do not file a claim to avoid premiums from going up. We took care of that damage. Now, we raised a claim for our roof due to hail damage. 2 contractors checked and confirmed that there is hail damage. But the adjuster from liberty mutual is refusing to admit this and denied the claim. Other houses in our neigborhood have been approved even though they has less hail damage than us. This after paying for 12 years hoping that they will take care if and when you have some damage. What a shame!. We should sue such irresponsible companies."

"This company is the GREATEST insurance company out in the industry. I had a glass claim on my SUV, they had he contractor come out to my work and replaced the windshield in the parkinglot. Did not have to miss time from work or travel far away. They have a huge impact in the South Bend area, the customer service center here is alway helpful and knowledgable. The employees have a local club that is ran by the employees and they donate to area charities like Ameican Cancer Society and Red Cross. I can tell why they are rated as one of the best companies in the USA!!!"

"The house i rent was broken into about a month ago. ALOT of items were taken. The total was about $13,000 worth. electronics, flat screen tv, high end camera, and many other items. the police were called out, did a report. following day i called Liberty to file the word, "SLACKERS"..The first adjuster i spoke with over a two week period, kept giving me contridictory statemens..first i was told the the police report was ordered on the same day i filed the claim. later, the guy told me he STILL has to request a police report ( that was the 2nd week)..on the 4th day of the break in, i was told all items were being entered into a database for "valuation" purposes, 2nd week i was told they are still waiting to do that!!! so again, everything told to me was being contridicted. i eventually demanded after the 2nd week for my claim to be re-assigned to another adjuster. It was, and that adjuster called me and told me it was sent to the SIU ( special investigation unit) and an "investigator" would contact me and schedule a time to come out and interview me and record the statement. we are now in a month of the break in. the investigator came out, took a recorded statement, asked for my income information , where i work, how much i make, wants to do a credit check. a few items were paid for in the past with cash being that i shop alot off craigslist ( no one selling anything off craigslist takes credit cards) the investigator told me, "do you always walk around with a couple hundred dollars in your pocket???".. i AM the victim, yet they treat me like the criminal. they cannot give you answeres. He asked for things i have allready sent in to the FIRST claims adjuster, now he wants me to send them to him. i told him then i could give him copies/files/reciepts but he didnt want to cary them, rather, he asked me to just mail them to him..CONSTANT stalls with this again, it has been a month now since the break in, and im still just as clueless as i was the night of the breakin as to where the claim is! 3 reps i have dealt with with liberty are NOT nice, there never sympathetic, always short..when i email them a question, when and IF i get a response to the email, its usually a one word answere, not profession greeting in the email, no closing with there name, nothing, just a one word answere..steer clear of this company!!!"

"Liberty Mutual adjusters completely ignored the repair quotes obtained from professionals to make my home liveable again after a water pipe burst and water ran through my home for 3 days while I was out of town. The adjuster tried to bully us into accepting his estimate for repairs rather than the company we hired--also wants us to keep wall to wall carpet that was underwater for 72 hours and claimed it is now stronger for having been wet! This relatively simple claim has turned into a nightmare which has not been resolved for weeks after the initial damage. Our home has not been useable pending the adjusters report and we are now going out of pocket to make repairs and attempt to recoup them from Liberty Mutual later. This company has no qualms about collecting years of premium payments but when one finally needs to file a claim they treat their customer like a thief. What a dissapointment."

"While their monthly payments were much higher with lower BI and other allotments for accidents compared to at least Progressive Insurance, I have had Liberty auto for the past 25 years and never had problems with them. They paid promptly, paid generously and their customer support was impeccible. I never had a problem receiving payments or with any issues along the line. However, due to the loss of my current job, I am seriously considering going with Progresive! They have a good customer rating and they are almost 300.00 cheaper per yr., with higher deductibles. I can only hope their claims are handled as well as Liberty. I will miss my old company because I amused to them and they are great all around, but when you have to cut costs, you have to!"

"i had a simple glass claim as my windshield was damaged by a rock. my desire to fix the car at the dealership where i normally service it (and where i dont have to wait for the parts and where i get a free loaner car) was initially supported however the amount that dealership was asking exceeded the amount that Liberty Mutual (LM) was willing to pay. no luck. LM suggested a different glass shop in my area and set up work to be done at that shop. the shop promised to call me once they receive the windshield from the dealership and they simply never did. every time i called the shop i was told that the windshield was ordered but have not yet arrived. eveytime i called LM i was told that there was nothing i could do but wait. they however recognized that it was illegal to drive with the damaged windshield. i was waiting for 3 weeks and finally called the dealership myself, found out that the windshield was readily available and ordered it myself. then i called a different glass shop to pick up the windshield and install it. all this took 2 days. after i called LM and complained to them about poor handling of the claim they said there was nothing they could do but reimburse me for the work minus deductable. when i suggest they waive the deductable or lose the customer i was told good bye. needless to say i am not planning to deal with this company again."

"Our vehicle was stolen out of our driveway and not recovered. Liberty treated us like we were the criminals. In the first few days, their customer service was quite good (rental car set up, paperwork delivery, etc). When it came to to recover our loses beacuse the vehicle had not been recovered, everything changed. Their initial offer was less than fair trade-in value (their own documentation states they pay replacement value) and we had to fight to get reimbursed for items that were specifically scheduled on the policy. After several months of telephone tag, unreturned phone calls and the threat of us retaining an attorney we finally received reasonable payment for our vehicle. I had been a customer of Liberty Mutual for nearly 10 years. I will never use their services again."

"I have a car rental coverage as part of my insurance package. Full rental car coverage was denied by Liberty mutual for no valid reason. Tried calling the representative handling my case, she never answers my calls. Had to make several phone calls to follow-up, and when I got her on the phone, she had promised to call me back - no calls were returned. "Homeowners insurance rate increased from $365 annually to over $1100, which was paid through my house payment. When I finally called to question why, they lowered the rate to $650. "Homeowner insurance provider for over 10 years and denied my claim after Hurricane Ike. Provided no funding although my assessed damages are more than $100,000. The insurance company cannot find the hole in the roof where the water came in. I have a flat roof and they looked for missing shingles. They overlooked all of the exterior and interior damages from the storm. I am suing them in court."

"I have had a workers comp claim for over a year and they have been very uncooperative, argumentative and not helpful at all. I have to call many times to leave a voice mail and they never call me back. They also switch claims people and do not notify you. When you are dealing with medical providers they have the previous claim persons name and phone number but then you find out your claim person has changed. It is like the cat chasing its tail. My employer did not renew with this company because they are not good to the injured employees."

"liberty mutual is a big joke.The job had ltd insurance with liberty.They try to stop your benifits every 3-4 months.They act as if they are the only ones with good sense.They stopped my benifits before I was approved for ssd, stated I was not disabled,then wanted all of lump sum payment when I became approved.Before my approval for ssd I had filed an appeal,never heard from them on the appeal(filed Nov.2007).as far as I know the appeal is still pending(HA!HA!).Liberty Mutual is a terrible company."

"They send their semi annual renewal letters one day before the due date with the payment due two weeks after. Then if you cancel for another company, they expect payment for the two weeks! Try for a company that will send renewal/semi annual payment letters before two weeks before, not one day, payment is due. "It took over 7 months to finally get an straight answer about the repair in my house that was hit by a lightening in July 2009. Finally, they sent me a $3,464 check for a $55,000 claim. This without any explanation. I definitely not advise this company to anyone specially that another friend has a similar experience with this comapny."

"I added my 16 year old daughter to our auto policy and our monthly rates DOUBLED! They said it was due to her inexperience. They would not rate her on the oldest vehicle. Their policy is to rate them on the NEWEST vehicle. This was part of the reason for the increase. I have been shopping around and everyone else rates her on the OLDEST."

"Customer Service is TERRIBLE. There are a lot of hidden fees. My rate was increased after less than a month. They contacted me about my signature page 3 times, my EFT forms twice, and my inspection form once. I mailed every form in just the way they asked and they contacted me with threatening letters and e-mails saying they would cancel my service if I did not send them in. Then they charged me a 25 dollar fee for sending a cancellation notice to me when it was their mistake to send it in the first place. They are cheap but NOT WORTH THE HASSLE. "

"I have had Liberty Insurance for over 13yrs. We no longer with them since last year and now encountered to deal with a claim aaainst them and takes foreve. I have filed few claims against other insurance but this Company is so POOR in dealing with the time. Agent been on vacation & expect to received a form before she goes on vacation as she have told me, but did not received until after 5wks from the time she went on her vacation. Payment to provider takes long too. I have sent her email but never get a response. Make phone calls but hard to reach and when get hold of her, always new stuff come up needed which never mention from the last conversation. Oh well, they collect premiums for your coverage on time but not on paying your claim. I am on my 4th month waiting to get my claim done, which i believe she still hav not finish requesting records yet as she never send payment to providers for requesting records to be release to her. I guess this is their way of keeping their money on their hand. The longer the process it takes, the longer they will keep their money on hand."

"I purchased private long-term disability insurance through my place of employment, never thinking that I would use it. I became disabled due to an Motorcycle accident; and suffered from multiple injuries that impacted my ability to work. I was on STD and had no problems with the disability insurance. When I transitioned into LTD, Liberty mutual became a thorn in my rear. Constantly threatening and attempting to intimidate me. They would send my doctors forms without my knowledge, in which the forms were bias. The forms would state on a scale from 4-10 how much work can I do, with 4 being moderate work, and 10 being maximum work. I had a doctor who fell for it and sent me back to work. I really just despise how this company treat their customers, they have made me sicker with their tactics. "

"I was in a hit and run accident April 11th of this year. I notified Liberty Mutual of the accident due to the other insurance company not contacting me in a timely manor. In a nutshell. The claims people in Sacramento CA called me a Lier, said the accident never happened the way I described it. Even with a police report and witnesses. Would not honor an extended policy on my car. And insulted me on numerous phone calls. Up until a letter was written to the CEO, and to the Calif Insurance commission, did anyone call the witnesses or move to fully look the car over. And Liberty continued to refused to fully make things right. I have been with Liberty Mutual for 15 years, and after this incident will be looking for another Insurance Co. "Liberty doubled my auto insurance premium when I had door damage backing out of my garage on a 10 year old gmc jimmy (from about $750 to $1450 approx). This was an accident not involving another vehicle, on my private property,not reported to DMV since not required. HOwever, Liberty reported this to DMV, so now in collusion all Florida auto insurers have about the same doubled rate for me when I try for another quote. This is a scheme to soak the consumer by the insurance companies working in unison. They did pay the repairs after a long wait, but I will end up paying the repairs with the increased premiums. They totaled my car but waited until 3 days before the statute of limitations was up to make a low-ball offer on my personal injuries. They never even got the medical records to evaluate the claim. I was forced to file a law suit myself and it was dismissed due to technical details like: the insurance company can't be sued, the insured is not the owner of the vehicle. "I have been with Liberty Mutual for over 8 years. Last week I called to see how they could lower my auto insurance premium. They told me they could get my premium down by about 30%. I was absolutely estatic. It was great news. The girl even told me my February payment would be in the new amount. After now hearing anything else from them, I decided to call them to be sure everything was on schedule, but this time they told me that there was a mistake and that the girl who gave me the quote, miskeyed which provided her with the wrong amount to quote me --Something about a divorce rate was keyed in (I am not divorced). Anyway, I spoke with the girl's manager and he would not budge and said they could not save me any money. I am very disappointed with Liberty Mutual for not sticking with their word. It is not the customer's fautl that they make mistakes, so why should we have to suffer the punishment. I am now going to take my auto and homeowners insurance elsewhere. I would NOT recommend Liberty Mutual to my worst enemy. Look how they treat their customers after 8 years!!!"

Taking a sedative alone would not allow me to work, nor drive. "I have been trying to get a claim paid for an auto accident caused by Liberty Mutual's insured with no luck. They keep claiming they have had no contact with their insured but this is not true. "After 2 years of receiving disability benefits, they cut me off. I hired a lawyer, and 9 months later won my appeal. I received 10 months of benefits from the time of reinstatement, and they cut off my benefits AGAIN! Yes, I have once again hired a lawyer to get my benefits reinstated. Don't let them cut you off without a fight. My situation requires an ERISA attorney. There are only a handful in the state I live in. You must FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!! Don't roll over without a fight. "I have had a long-term disability with Liberty Mutual and after 10+ years when I made a claim with documetation from my physicians, they assumed I was a liar and refused my claim. "My husband was diagnosed over two years ago with early stages of Alzheimer's and had to leave his job recently. He received eight weeks of short-term disability from Liberty Mutual. They have denied the last four weeks of his short-term disability and also denied his application for long-term disability, based on the findings of a neurologist in another state who has never seen or spoken with my husband. Ignoring the medical evidence and the diagnosis of an internist and two other neurologists, he decided my husband is just depressed or trying to get out of work. The insurance company has informed my husband that he is no longer disabled and can return to work. This is a man who cannot remember the day of the week or a conversation that took place five minutes ago. We are about to start the appeals process but I realize more and more that we are up against a powerful group that has been getting by with this for a very long time. Don't be fooled by the initial kindness. You are dealing with sharks. I, too, think a class-action suit might be the only solution."

"A year ago, I would have rated these guys Very Satisfied. After my recent experience with them - that wasn't even claim related - they can kiss my ***. Liberty Mutual WILL NOT NEGOTIATE anything. It's their way or the highway. While getting homeowners insurance for my newly purchased yet 40 year old house, I voluntarily disclosed to the inspector that some of the home had aluminum wiring - something I had discovered while fixing an outlet. At the time, I expected this to cause an increase in my premium. Instead, I was flabbergasted to recieve a letter from them saying I had to replace the aluminum wiring within 6 months, or they would cancel my policy. Quotes to get the approximately 40% of my house that is still the original aluminum wiring replaced each came in at over $30,000! Instead of replacement, the two companies who bid for me recommended an approved process called Copalum, which bonds copper to the aluminum. It's the only process that's been approved by the same people who write the electrical and fire safety codes. That's still going to cost me around $5000, but I'm having it done in stages. When I approached Libery Mutual about this alternative, they basically told me to go to you know where. Six months of frusration with my agent and their underwriters left a bad taste in my mouth - even after pointing out that they would not only be losing my homeowner policy, but all the policies I have with them - my rental properties, all 3 of my cars, etc and that I'd been a good customer for the last 7.5 years, with only a single $2500 claim on one of my cars. Two letters to the CEO went unanswered in any form. After this debacle, I'm completely through with Liberty Mutual. I'm glad I never had to file more than the one claim with them. They are now one of only two companies I will never give another chance, and will spend the rest of my life bad mouthing - oh, and in case you cared, the other is American Express. "

"LM is priced moderatly amongst its competitors however, they approch claims in a very combative way. In my instance I showed multiple appraisals of roof damage from huricane Ike which suggested the roof be repalced. LM brought in their own contractors to disclaim the 3 other bids I received. I was told I would not get any reimbursement and if something happens later file another claim. They would not negotiate or discuss alternatives. The entire incident took over two months from the time of the damage until closure. Very un-ethical and no a company I would want standing by to assist in a time of need."

"I do not have liberty mutual. I was involved in an auto accident with a driver that is insured by liberty mutual. Despite a police report and four witnesses stating the driver pulled out in front of me, they still have not made a determination of liability. My car was not drivable and was towed after the accident. 3 days later, I get a call from the adjuster stating that since they were probably going to accept liability they would move the car to a storage that does not charge fees. I was told they would call me back with the information a day later. It has now been another week, I have been leaving messages for both the adjuster and the investigator on a daily basis, and still no return call. I don't even know where my car is. I have progressive and have had to make claims with them, my claim was resolved in 3 days. I hope they treat their customer's better than this, but sounds like they don't. "

"the company I worked for had liberty mutual for their workmans comp claims. when I first filed their wasn't many problems however they sent me to 3 different doctors, in addition to my doctor, to try and find one that would not agree that my employer was responsible for my ailment. all 5 doctors, which include mine recommended that I need surgery and that I may have damage so bad itmay not help? well they were paying for my treatment for almost a year and giving me income replacement. Then out of the blue without warning, they changed agents on me, then instead of sending me my paycheck, they sent me a notice saying that I have a new adjuster and she doesn't think I need coverage as my doctor filled out my time loss certificate wrong. they paid me 2 biweekly payments based on that certificate then a month later says it was wrong. I was then told that just because one adjuster felt it was adequate that doesn't mean she has to pay me based on it? I guess I will have to sue now as i haven't had my surgery yet? somehow she thinks I am cured by miracle?"

"I Never have any home claim before. After huricane Ike, my roof was damage. It lost about 100 sheet of shingles all over 3 sides of my house. I stopped the leak so the ceiling was not damage as my neighbors. My condenser was ground after the electric came back. Liberty mutual estimated the cost for my roof is $900 (under my deductible). I got 3 repair quotes with the lowest is $1500. 2 other company suggested to replace the roof because the damage are over the place. I will hire independent adjuster to give me a right estimate. Beware with Liberty Mutual, they will find way not to pay you."

"I had Liberty Mutual in Texas, and was very pleased with the premium and their handling of my son's accident. We moved to California and I was forced very unhappily to change insurance. We were in California a year with someone else then moved to Maryland. I was very stressed out with having to change insurance again and by the quotes I was getting. Finally called Liberty mutual again and the rate they quoted me was about the same for a year as others were quoting for 6 months. I love this company! I hope I can stay with them forever."

"I have Liberty Mutual for Short Term Disability. I filed a claim for pregnancy complications. My doctor has authorized bedrest for 1 month prior to my due date because of complications. Liberty Mutual has denied my claim. Every time I try to call the claim representative I get her voice mail with a message telling me she is "out of the office at 3:45PM EST". The times she is in the office seem to fluctuate, so, I must leave messages, then I do not get any calls returned to me. When I finally made contact with my representative I was informed that my case had been closed and denied. I asked, where was the letter that explained Liberty Mutual’s decision? Also, Liberty Mutual is supposed to send information on the appeal process. No information has been communicated to me. I am still waiting for both letters and it's been over a month. "I feel victimized by my insurance company. My vehicle was stolen and recovered and I have had nothing but problems with Liberty Mutual. They refused to pay any mechanical damages because they say they are not related to the theft. They want me to pay $400.00 for a diagnostic test to see if the problems were caused by the theft. I called the dealership and asked if it was possible to determine if the problems were caused by the theft or prior to it...they stated "absolutely not". "We just bought an older home (1920's) with some branch circuits using knob and tube wiring. We were referred to Liberty Mutual through our real estate agent's concierge service. Note they called us; we did not seek them out. I filled out an application over the phone during which 1) we were never asked if we had knob and tube wiring and 2) I explicitly told them we had older wiring in the house and we intended to get portions of it replaced. When I received the written application in the mail, it suggested that we DID NOT have knob and tube wiring. I tried calling them twice before closing to determine the implications for this discrepancy. I was told someone from underwriting would call me back. I heard nothing until 4 weeks AFTER closing when they told me I would have to replace EVERY INCH of knob and tube wiring in the house or they would drop me. It was an absolutely AWFUL experience. I suspect that 1) Liberty Mutual did not really want to recognize the knob and tube wiring so that, in event of a claim, they could be absolved of responsibilities and 2) they want an absolutely risk free situation (which is impossible) so they have no obligations to cover claims. I talked with an insurance lawyer who suggested these kinds of practices are not uncommon. I would highly discourage any proud home owner from insuring their home with Liberty Mutual. "

"We had a very bad storm here in Texas. My roof which was only 4yrs old leaked in both the garage and home. The adjuster who came out was a bit of a jerk and pretty much said the claim was going to be denied because he couldn't find any point of entry caused by the storm. Meanwhile the flash around my chimney was all bent to hell which I told him was probably due to the high 60mph winds. He said no it was due to the flashing being installed improperly which is BS. Because they screwed up in the office 10 days later he had to come out a second time during which time even more rain came in. They eventually denied the claim and I am looking at thousand of dollars worth of damage which will have to come out of my pocket. I never filed a claim with this company and when I needed them most they shafted me! Keep clear of Liberty Mutual."

" liberty mutual is the insurance carrier of my employer. i have a verified injury from work yet they are unwilling to compensate me. they'll pay for my medical service, but not my salary. this makes no sense."

"We have had insurance with Liberty Mutual for 32 years plus. Had a claim in 2001 from two trees falling on our house and porch. In Feb. 2008 another tree fell on porch and house damageing roof and porch. Liberty Mutual claimed we never repaired the damage from 2001 did not pay except to have the tree removed. We are in debt for all the repairs to our house and roof.Very rude adjusters My husband had to ask them to leave it got so bad. Then they sent out a investegater to talk to us He wanted to tape record my converstion. I certainly did not agree. After taking our money for 32 years they did not pay. Would not recommed this company to anyone. Am cancelling my policy and insuring with State Farm."

"I decided to move on after doing business with them for 3 years (Never had a claim before). They are good in trying to deny claims and also good in dragging their feet to pay out when Claimant fought back. If you do not want to deal with all these, you should go for a different one. They settled my claim at the end but I had to spend a lot of time on the phone chasing them down. A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME!"

"I was involved in a hit and run. I cought the guy but the car's owner was not driving and had no ID. He told the police he had Progressiver but refused to admit to his insurance company that he was involved in an accident. Liberty refused to process the claim under my uninsured motorist. They wanted to use my collision with me paying the $1000 deductable. They said that since the guy who owned the car that hit me wouldn't admit to them that he had insurance and thus Progressive wouldn't pay they couldn't use the uninsured part of my policy because he might have insurance. With auto, home, barn,boat and unbrella I pay over $3000 per year, but not to Liberty anymore. I'm going with Amica."

"After 8 years of taking our money the agent told us that we have great coverage and that we are covered for everything, but when we called the claims department they spent most of our time telling us what we Did Not Have Coverage for the little things that they would be willing to help with, but without attempting to help us with our claim! WE WOULD NOT RECOMMEND USING THIS COMPANY, BECAUSE OF THEIR POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! :o( "

"I think Liberty Mutual is deceptive and playing a numbers game which is disrespectful to it's long term policy holders. For the same coverage other big name insurers offered savings of $400 plus per year on my 2 vehicles. When contacted they they were happy to let me go (after around 20 years) w/o so much as offering any reduction in the premiums. Something fishy there..."

"I am actually a Geico customer but I had to file a claim against liberty mutual after one of there customers hit my car. I was going down a straightway and they came out of a side street and hit me on my driverside back door and bumper. I had to pay almost 200.00 to get towed from MASS TO NH. I am currently without a car I've been walking 45 mins to work because I can't afford a taxi after dishing out the money for the tow, and they have been completly unhelpful. They refuse to pay for a rental untill their customer calls them back. They are taking their time with a claims represenative coming to look at the damage. I live in NH where if anyone of you live in the northeast understand that this is winter, and it snows here. I am without anyway to get back and forth to work, not to mention I am a student and I am enrolled to take a class next week. I am unable to get to school. I will lose out on my class as well as be responsible for a fee. I am sure that Liberty mutual will not reinburse me for any of that. I am so angry and fed up. It took 5 phone calls in one day to get them to do anything. They hadn't even made one phone call to the insured until the 3rd call, and I had to give them the numbers! On the 4th call they finally mailed out the ten day letter, and on the 5th they where closed. Don't get Liberty mutual, they are horrible!"

"Policy holder for 35 years. Had house fire. Adjuster was TERRIBLE. His "replacement value" much less than honest. Threatened ethical suppliers with insurance fraud. Never paid valid claims. Denied valid claims for home repair. Claim stretched out 4 years. Don't use Liberty Mutual!"

"Ins Co. refused to pay fair labor rate and I had to make up the difference. Over 20 yrs. with same ins. and no other claims. I feel they still owe me $150.00. I called four times...long wait...rude cut off...determined agent and appraiser are same person...why hide that fact? Called Supv. got msg...gone for 2 more wks...sounds phony!"

"My Satellite System was hit by Lightning and my TV plus Stereo System plus some other items did burn up. I filed a claim with Liberty Mutual and now it has been send to their special Investigator Unit and they are refusing to pay for the damage."

"Was sitting at a stop sign and was hit by 2 other cars. Other driver was ticketed. Lower and upper back injuries as well as left arm injury. LM sent me to their Independent Medical Examiner who stated I had a resolved cervical strain. After exam, I immediately called my adjuster as well as sent a written letter. LM ended up stopping my no fault pymts as well as any treatment causally related to my accident. They buy their Doctors to give false information. Result's include no payment from No Fault through LM and No coverage through my private insurance. "

"I have the short-term disability plan to which I've paid for over 5 years. I became disabled on 9/20, substantiated by two physicians with complete medical documentation and as of 12/15/07, Liberty has done nothing by deny my claim. I have had to file with the NC Ins. Comish and then they offered an appeal. That is going at a snail's pace with them making more and more excuses at prolonging the case - their strategy of denials and lengthy paperwork probably deters many customers that are actually due compensation. Such acts by Liberty should be criminal."

"Was with LM for 48 years. Had two accidents, neither of which were my fault. LM had a differing opinion and sided with the other parties. Through my pointing out their LM's lacking and erroneous investigations - 'was able to change LM's settlement in my direction, but not without their they erroneously paying the other parties. In one case, LM tried to retrieve funds erroneously paid to the other party - but were not successful. Waste in this example, s why LM's insurance rates are high. "

"If you should have to go on a short term or long term disabilty you better be prepared not to get paid by this company. They will do everything in ther power not to give you anything. "Four years ago my son was injured on the job, and his employer had Liberty Mutual as their workers compensation insurance carrier. My son's injury eventually involved major surgery for three spinal discs in his neck. Without this surgery, my 22-year old was facing the real possibility of a wheelchair future. Dealing with Liberty Mutual for the year or more before we had to take this to litigation was a nightmare. If my son had not been able to move back home, it would have been impossible for him to have gotten the proper medical care his injury required. This is one of the most unethical insurance companies I have ever heard of. At one point, they actually sent my son to a doctor of their choosing, who, without the benefit of any medical files, concluded that my son could return to work. This work involved extremely strenuous physical labor that would have exacerbated his injury and placed him in serious danger. Their agents were never available and never returned his calls. I recognize that the insurance industry in this country has serious flaws and must be constantly vigilent in pursuing insurance fraud; however, this was a despicable example of moral behavior on the part of a company who has spent a fortune in advertising an image of a company that does the "responsible thing". If at all possible, please save yourself future heartache and avoid this insurance company. While on this subject, is there not some national watchdog agency to protect citizens from these kinds of companies? Perhaps not, given the era where we can't even expect a government to protect our children from dangerous toys."

"Liberty Mutual epitomizes corporate irresponsibility. I have had water damage to my home and their assessment of damages cannot restore half of the damage I have incurred - even with replacement cost coverage. They will not return my phone calls, will not entertain appraisals by certified contranctors, and the appraiser that was sent to my home was rude and arrogant and had my wife in tears before he left. Libery Mutual is a disgusting corporation - the absolute worst I have incurred in my 53 years."

"My only claim was for road side assistance, The tow truck, never showed up. I called Liberty Mutual again, they did not have record of the call. But the real kicker my rate keeps changing. I got quoted one price, if I did the auto deduction and that rate is not being honored. "

"I am being dropped by liberty mutual because I have a manufactured home. Although my house is a 1999 model on a permanent foundation and classified by the county as Real Estate, Liberty will not discuss with me, just dropping coverage. I have had policies for both auto and home with no claims, but that does not matter to them. Liberty Mutual is good at one thing... collecting premiums. I would recommend them only to people I hate. "

"I have had auto and homeowner's insurance with Liberty Mutual for over 30 years. We filed several small homeowner's claims within 2 years when we encountered problems with a new roof that had been installed. Subsequently we purchased a new home and the premium was sky-high. Someone should have warned me that I would have been better off paying for the damages myself instead of the increased premium that would result. We are not renewing our homeowners policy with Liberty Mutual as their basic rates have also increased and we can get the same coverage elsewhere at 30% less."

"I have Liberty Mutual for Short Term Disability and after my recent pregnancy/delivery, even though my doctor has authorized an additional 3 weeks due to complications, Liberty Mutual has denied my claim. Every time I try to call my claim representative I get his voice mail, I do not get any calls returned to me. After contacting my HR agent I was informed that my case had been closed and my claim for the additional 3 weeks denied. That was over a month ago and I've never received anything from Liberty Mutual stating that or informing me of how to file an appeal."

"Liberty Mutual finally gave me what was agreed upon in my policy only after a protracted series of phone calls and letters. Their handling of my claim demonstrated their interest in only their bottom line. One employee actually said something like, "I'm sorry we did so poorly in handling this claim. We can't do anything to make up for the situation. We hope you will continue to insure with us." He really said that."

"I'm affraid that like many people I can only say I have car insurance. I thought my insurance company would be more helpful in my accident settlement,that they would look out for my interests. They were helpful in advizing about the market value of my total loss vehicle claim, however the opposing insurance company was the first to reach me by phone. I was astounded they would. It was a good thing I wasn't serriously injured. Who would of helped me if I were laying in bed."
