"I have a Pharmacy DME question I have been trying to get anwered since, March. You can't make a call and get a person. You cannot leave a message because of some song and dance excuse. They tell you to call back at another time. Don't bother trying to email the question. I have been waiting for months to get a response to my emails. Useless company. No phone contact, can't leave messages or they don't call back, no email response, ever. Their web pages are designed for making sales, once you are a customer, forget it. They do not want to help."

"Had a small fender bender. First one in over 30 years. Repairs were paid by ins. co. but my next statement reflected a rise in payment, which I was never told about. Homeowners Ins. also started billing me 93 more per month because I hadn't provided them with correct paperwork on the replacement of the roof on the house just before I bought it, even though the agent came out and inspected the roof and said it was in excellent condition. The home was an estate sale and the sons of the deceased owner had replaced the roof a few years ago. They are professional building contractors, which the insurance co. was told. Even thought the sons provided a written statement verifying the roof replacement, I've been fighting with the ins. co. for four months to receive a reimbursement for the increased charges they billed me for without any previous notice. Not happy with Am. National."

"I have been with so call insurance company for over 20 years. I filed my first claim on my home almost 3 weeks ago with no response. Something is fishy about this insurance company. Do not recommend. Not honest."

"Dispute of teenage daughter on the auto policy. Agent said he thought he remembered us telling him the car was for her, but apparently, she was never listed on the policy, had an accident American National did not pay. The agent asked to file a claim on his errors omissions to get it paid, but the insurance company would not allow it. We owe 13500 on the car. It was probably worth 14000 - 15000. We now have to pay the remainder of the lien of 13,500 for a car that has been totaled. We would have never allowed her to drive the car if we had known she wasn't listed on the policy. We paid top dollar for premium coverage on the car for 2 years. Checked with the insurance commissioner in Oklahoma for assistance, but that was a waste of time. We will have to get a lawyer if we want to fight this. I don't know if it will put us further in the hole."

"The worst claim handling. It was only a simple deer hit and took forever to get my check. Body shop even said they have never seen anything like it."

"After 10 years as an annuity customer and ready for retirement, I have been passed around, given inaccurate information and now delayed over three weeks to get any funds out of my account. It is very difficult to get past the initial customer service representatives to talk with someone at a supervisor level. The generic responses of the customer service rep is of no help if the insurance owner has special questions. I have dealt with several insurance/annuity companies as my retirement approaches and no others have given me such difficulty. Look elsewhere for annuity services. "

"we have been happy with their auto insurance but not happy with the homeowners insurance. They will not tell you that they will drop you for a socond claim They told us that we were "hoarder" as the house was a mess when they came over but the insurance record said we were dropped for multiple claims"

"we decided to get out of our contract with them and they are taking their good old time refunding our money. all it is is about 100 or so and they treat it like it was a million dollars. Very poor company to deal with. "

"During the claims process where insurance really counts they handled our claim very fairly and we received more then expected for both claims. Our insurance premium has not gone up as a result."

"They will do anything to raise premium. I was involved in an accident to where I was not ticketed.Other party fled the scene. They charged me with an at fault accident to penalize me. Even had home and life insurance with them. Tried to fight them but did not good. "

"This company has to be a complete fraud. Not only have my husband and I had horrible dealings with their customer relations department dealing with claims but the actual medical offices and hospitals have had very frustrating interactions with them. One representative from the hospital stated that she has never had to deal with this kind of run around in just trying to find out if a mammogram was covered. Of course it ended up not being covered like everything else such as our daughters normal preventative visits to the pediatrician. "

"Most horrible insurance experience I have ever had. I was hit by an uninsured and unlicensed person and the police officer even said it wasnt my fault. My insurance company classified it as my fault. Horrible horrible horrible. Nightmare. Switching insurance companies now."

" My house suffered severe hail damage. My siding is made of very expensive and hard to find redwood. The adjuster only wanted to replace my home with masonite siding. They did not want to fix my shed. The adjuster brought his own handyman out to give a lowball rate in hopes of us selecting their own handyman to do the repairs. Our adjuster was out of shape and not qualified to crawl under the house or climb on the roof so he gave his camera to his handyman to inspect everything and call out what he sees. A complete and total joke and very unprofessional. We never did get the price we needed so we forked over cash ourselves to fix our home."

"They are extremely copmpetitive and have outstanding customer service. i would highly recommend this company to any family members or friends. i had a claim and have never been so satisfied with how smoothly it went."

"higher rates especially if you do the refund 25% of premium program if no claims are filed in 3 year period. Their customer service is excellent if you have to file a claim. Be careful, they claim to give you a multi-policy discount if you have home and auto with them, but in fact you must also have life insurance with them in order to qualify according to their corporate office. "

"I also have had this insurance for over 20 years. After premiums reached 1500.00 a month with a 2500.00 ded for my husband and I, I decided that was outrageous. I had met my ded 3 times and my husband once since we have had this insurance. We too have had to fight over paying claims as they were denied the first time. We decided we would take a chance on a 10,000.00 ded instead of giving this company 18,000.00 a year. So I changed our premiums to 800.00 a month with a 10,000.00 ded. Lo and behold what do I get in the mail this week..........Another premium increase!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"I have been a customer with American National for over 20 years. I have had two claims that were paid without incident. My complaint is there outrageous rate hikes as of recent. I am on a cashback plan which is paid if you are claim free for three years. It all seemed well and good until I got some quotes from other companies and I am paying way more for American National even with the Cashback incentive, which is a gamble anyway. I will be changing insurances. It is unfortunate because I think American National has been a good company."

"Have been with ANPAC for close to 20 years. Wife was involved in a bad accident, not her fault. In spite of witness statements, signed statement of other involved party taking responsibility, ANPAC is going to extreme measures to not pay out on claim including paying to have bogus accident reports produced by their hired guns. They are definitely using the deny, delay, defend approach on us - its been almost two years since accident and we are in litigation nightmare with an insurance company that we have faithfully paid our premiums to every month just in case something like this happens to us - we kept up our end of the bargain and ANPAC IS NOT and is going to run us thru the wringer. Unfortunately, it sounds like this is an all too common approach by all insurance companies to shuffle these cases off to attorneys to drag these cases out as long as possible. This industry is broken - how these companies take our premiums every month and then treat their insured the way they do is criminal and needs to be changed (regulated!!!!!) now. I would highly recommend that you stay away from ANPAC but if you read comments on just about every other insurance company, you see the same story everywhere. We are going to drop ANPAC but not sure where to go as they all seem to stink badly. Very frustrating. "

"I have wind damage on my house. Company claim settlement offer is th patch the roof. Based on a computer program that estimates the cost to do that, but can not provide the names of any contractors who use that program to estimate what they would charge me nor can I find a contractor who want to do a patch job."

"I took out the Catastrophic Complete Plan. After the deductible, it paid 100%. My wife had cancer last year and the medical expenses were $265,000. American National paid $260,000 after my $5000 deductible was met. I'm very pleased that this company lived up to its promises."

"Our house was damaged during Ike- ceilings in the foyer, a bedroom and garage collapsed in addition to major leaks throught out the house. 30 days later we have still not recieved any setttlement or any assitance to pay for our temporary dwelling, nor for the repairs we have started."

"Very slow claims process. It took 2 days to get my car towed after the accident because communication was so poor. They are very difficult to work with getting out of every little possible payment they can. "

"Constant increase of premiums as much as 60% in a 12 month period. This is without ever making a claim. Their shareholders are enjoying increased dividends however and 2007 profits have soared. Pure corporate greed. "

"They took care of any problems due to an auto accident without any hassles. You do need to have your facts straight and they will question anything suspicious but that's the way it is with any company. Just hoping they don't jack up my new health insurance rates like all the others have..."

"Every single claim is denied the first time it is filed. You must refile and refile each claim and then they don't apply medical expenses to your deductible. I had to file my very first accident claim in over 7 years and it took almost 9 months for them to pay. My rates have significantly increased EVERY year. In 1999 premium was $156.00, now it is $468.00 and thats with a $5,0000 ded. per person."
