"Company raises rates year over year because their rates have been too low in years past and they have lost money. Yes, no matter what your driving record or claims history, you are paying for PEMCOs bad business practices from years past. They have been losing money for years They also treat employees unfairly, pushing out longer-term employees so they can hire newer employees at lower wagesbenefits. They dont care about level of skill or integrity in sales agents, just whether or not they can sell policies - even when salespeople have actually been caught lying to customers, nothing is done because these guys make a lot of sales probably because they lie"

"I did not feel that the Pemco adjuster was knowable enough to handle the severity of our claim. We have had many problems with our roof and chimney after it was fixed and the claim was paid. "

"Have made several claims in the 35 years with Pemco and they have been more than fair. Service is quick and the people I have dealt with were very nice."

"My husband was hit by an unisured driver and our car was totaled. Pemco was fair doing what the policy said. The adjuster seemed cooperative. We did dicker with him to get a realistic payment for our car. We did research to show we could not buy a used car for what they initially offered and they raised the payment to match a comparable car we found."

"28 yrs with company minor claim under $5000 treated like advisary instead of costumer of 28yrs with one minor accident over 25yrs ago with no tickets and wife has no tics or accidents but like everyone in company told me they treat everyone the same like the advisary I guess learned good lesson though"

"they canceled my insurance after making a stolen vehicle claim. the adjuster was rude and very suspicious because the auto was recovered near my home. They drug the settlement out over about 6 weeks with few straight answers and the body shop was their preferred shop bbut they were slow and rude too. They didnt want me to use my body shop of choice. I resent the false pretense for cancellation and the fact notes were falsified to back up inappropriate actions taken by the adjuster. Insurance commpanies apparently lack ethics like most of the rest of corporate america. Its too bad I was with them for 17 years and the cancellations have created a hardship for me as my premiums are now substantially increased. "

"There is no integrity. They do not investigate well. They have now changed their opinion from my fault to non fault. They cancelled my insurance and now they tell me it was a mistake. My car was sideswiped with me inside and then the guy took off. They are now saying that we should go to arbitration. "

"My family has had PEMCO Insurance for about 17 years. We have had no claims and no tickets. We have weathered all of the rate increases because we THOUGHT we were paying for service. This yaer was the first year that we filed a claim, as you can probably guess, it was denied. I will be cancelling my policy and possibly taking them to court. I DO NOT recomend them unless you would like to pay high premiums for many years, file a claim and also be denied. "

"i've had pemco since 1995 and every year my rates have gone up.they keep telling me about all the discounts i'm getting and my rates still go up.this year it was too much,i called an took the knife to my policy and trimmed about $400 off.i then told them that if my rates go up 1 cent next year ,they are fired. i'm retired and have no accidents or tickets.also i dont drive much.ihad broadform before pemco and i may have it again."

"They jacked up my rate by 13 percent after the first year. I did not file any calaims, so I ask them why? Their answer boils down so "because we can". They also claimed labour costs went up. And this is in 2009 when economy is in bad shape. I belive the quote low price to lure, and count on inertia. Beware."

"I'm another one into the list of people completely dissapointed with Pemco rates. 2 yrs no accident and they sent my new policy with a Forty percent (40%) increase, unbelievable. Reading the comments here I will not spend the 25 cents to make a call and ask why because I will get a silly or stupid answer. pemco, good bye! in this economy I hope you survive by having this excellent loyalty recognition program, you are loyal and they will increase your premium"

"They have been raising rates 20% a year and I am tired of it. There is no just cause, or any cause at all according to their story."

"In 2005 I bought a new car. Before buying I checked with a Pemco service representative and was told my rates would not increase with the model I was buying. On my 2006 renewal, there was an over 12% increase on my policy despite the fact that I have never had an accident or ticket. I was told that because I took out an auto loan to buy the car that I had been bumped into a higher risk category according to their "insurance score" formula. I asked what determined the "insurance score" so I could know how better to avoid future increases and was told that it was a proprietary formula and they could not let me know what factors went into it. Despite being furious at this explanation, I decided to stay with Pemco. I have just received my 2008 renewal and (still no tickets or accidents) I am being hit with an over 19% increase -- this just 2 years after another HUGE increase. I called customer service and was told that the entire "insurance score" program had been dropped because customers were complaining about it too much and that everyone's rates would be going up this year. Apparently, the more trustworthy your credit history is, the bigger your rate increase will be since you are losing a big discount. Nice job, Pemco. Instead of fixing the a poorly executed program you just turned it into a way to justify a gigantic rate increase. I have been with Pemco for 16 years, but I think that is about to change."

"I am happy they restructured the system I was paying more for my insurance until they changed it. It then dropped 25% since I don't have the best of credit I think this helped out alot. I 've had one ticket with no increase and 1 accident 5 years ago and they handled it so well I am extremely happy and they even gave me my deductible back."

"past years of no claims etc., don't count when something does unfortunately happen. One ticket in over 10 years (neg. driving), since then (another 10 years) not another claim or ticket but was immediately cancelled. NO DISCUSSION!! I have since changed to GEICO and have been extremely happy!"

"I've been with Pemco for over 4 years now, never had an accident and never had a claim, and never had any tickets. For the first 3 years, they always stated that I would get 'rewarded' after 3 years of claim/ticket free record with them. Well on my 4th year renewal, I was all excited about the rate decrease I was expected. But get my renewal and everything went UP!!!! My home and Auto insurance was more then 200 more then the previous year. After researching, I've found out that they raised everyone's rates. Then today I get a letter from them, stating they are no longer going to offer Earthquake insurance, but advise me to go to some other company for that. I'm really starting to not like Pemco because of this crap. Why should I have to have some 3rd party cover my earthquake coverage? What are the costs? "

"In 2007, Pemco revised their "insurance score formula", from 5 levels to 29 levels, to "lessen the impact of the insurance score on the overall premium" (plus adding a $30 administration fee). They say that they don't use your "credit score", but rather use the incremental data that is used to calculate your "credit score". Since their "insurance score formula" is proprietary information of Fair Issacs, Pemco cannot provide a copy of that formula. Even if you have a perfect driving & credit record, you can look forward to a 70% increase in your premium in 2008."

"They have positioned their products that it only fits specific groups. If you are not an exact fit they will drive you nuts with issues."

"I have to agree with earlier posters in regards to Pemco. I recently recieved my annual renewal with a 25% rate increase plus a $30 account admin. fee. Like the earlier posters, I have had no tickets in >5 years and no claims in the 14 years that I have been with them. When I called Pemco to iquire as to why such a steep increase they told me that their rate setting model had changed for everyone across the board. I suspect there will be many more unhappy customers."

"Have been with Pemco for over 15 years. Until recently service/rates have been competitive. Recent renewal of policy (2008) reflects a "new" $30.00 billing fee (??)AND a rate increase of approx 10%. No accidents or claims...hmmmm...Upon recent quotes with other insurers (A++ or better rated)better more competitive offers available. "

"Example: They replaced 2 windshields in 2 weeks and less than a year later yet another windshield. No hesitation, no problem, no rate increase."
