"This is the worst dental insurance company I've ever seen. They try to find any reason to deny the claims."

"Hard to find a company with a worse web site and higher fees for investment funds. This company is an absolute rip-off to customers. Encourage your companies to find other options for your 401K otherwise, accept these rip-off artists will charge you 10 times what Vanguard or other companies will for investment services. Employees of this company must go to work everyday feeling dirty. Scoundrels"

"Short term disabilty...don't hold your breath hoping for expedientturn around time for your claim to be approved. My husband's been off work for 6 weeks now 1 week pay was withheld per the employer's policy. We've only received 1 check so far for only one week's worth of payment. If you call the case manager to find out what's going'll only get their voice mail. They will not contact you by phone if there's a problem. You have to just keep hounding them.. Truly despicable system."

"When I call they will not allow me to talk with my listed representative and are very unhelpful. My Prinflex payments have tripled and they sent me some printout that states the policy will be worthless when I am eighty in some cases 5 years I am canceling"

"Disability insurance determined by Principal NOT YOUR DOCTOR. This company needs to list the the disabilities it will cover along with the time they allot coverage should last. For example multi-level multiple laminectomies and fusions are given a max of 4 months. If you still are not able to return to work or refuse to crawl into work your disability payments are automatically stopped and you are on your own. They need to list this so no one is taken by surprise and ruined financially while sick or hurt."

"TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE rude unhelpful. Told me I was wrong over and over again on the phone when that was not the case. Had my new financial group deal with them because they were so rude and unhelpful. would not recommend them to anyone. "

"They seriously need to update their providers list -- Most of the numbers were changed and providers were out network . "

"Essentially the long list of providers, which is shown to attract customers, is rarely update for the providers already outside the network. "

"this company will use whatever methods they can to avoid payment on health insurance claims."

"I had a motorcycle accident that sent me to the emergency room. Have the 80/20 insurance and have had for years with no claims or problems until now. I havent even got all of my bills and am already getting screwed over. I spent three days in the hospital with a fractured pelvis and rib and they say they will cover two days only. The hospital charged me 25 thousand, they say they will only cover 13 thousand. They are trying to only pay 150 for the multiple x-rays i was given. Overall i would rate this company at negative 5. If I had a choice of our provider it would be changed for sure. Anyone looking for insurance that has a choice do yourself a favor and get anything other than Principal Financial."

"They deny EVERYTHING, then you have to call and nearly argue with the reps to have your childs Well Baby exam covered. I have been billed twice for the same visit on more than one occasion. At this time I have 4 claims being denied that they say they will cover in their plan. Horrible insurance."

"Had Principle for almost 20 years through my employer. NEVER had a problem with the insurance company. Have to find insurance on our own now as employer has screwed over the retirees."

"they pay care givers late, you get sent to collections, so you pay care givers hoping Principal will reimburse you--good luck. the covered only a portion of the birth of our baby. we ended up paying out thousands."

"This is employer provided insurance so we don't have a choice about renewal. The company tries very hard to get out of paying for cancer care. They will hold up claims "in review" for up to 30 days. We go to their PPO doctors (in network) and yet they question and sometimes deny the treatment the Dr. recommends. Very discouraging."

"had bottom wisdom teeth removed.... 1115.00 which they paid 251.00..... said all anesthesia to cut teeth out of bone was not needed so they would not pay.... what is the point of even buying the insurance if they cover nothing..."

"they process claims wrong and I have to call and get on them to correct it.They have told the Doctors office and the therapist that I'm covered at my 80%.Then I get the eob and I find out that I'm not in network,so I have to pay for everything at 60%. These mistakes have been going on for a year and six months."

"When you call the customer service reps., you get a different answer every time on what is covered. When you need to have a procedure done, you would be wise to have your hospital, surgical center, and doctor's office call the ins. company to see what they will cover because believe me they do NOT want to pay."

"this is a company unlike any other health insurance company. it runs itself using unique procedures, many of which make no sense. It has no one working for it, from top to bottom, with any industry experience. Everyone transferred there within the company and they have invented bizarre and unconventional standards. if you insure with them prepare for suprises."

"They pay providers promptly and are very efficient with paperwork. However, they raised our small grouop 27.3% in one year(!), probably won't renew."
