"My vehicle was totalled by Progressive Ins. The other who person hit my suv had no insurance. Progressive Ins low balled the value on my suv. When I called to talk to adjuster, he was extremely rude and unprofessional. He kept screaming at me. I asked him to stop that, numerous times. He also kept talking over me. I finally said that if you don't stop yelling at me I'm going to record you. He screamed back I'm not allowed to since he didn't give permission. Ok, i understand that but i didn't appreciate the way i was treated. I've been in management for over thirty years and know how to politely talk to people. He just yelled and was closed minded. Every time I would try to talk, he deliberately talked over me. The man was having a hissy fit because I questioned his settlement amount. I will never again do business with this company. Buyer beware"

"My car was sideswiped in a parking lot. I filed a claim and was asked to provide a self-report accident form which I did. Progressive approved my claim but did not provide me with a network autobody shop list. I have asked countless time. Claim rep does not provide customer service. Does not call back timely. I called the rep 5 times in one day and told her to please give me a time convenient for her so we can talk but doesnt care or call me va k. Its impossible to talk to supervisor. Absolutely deplorable claims service."

"I would never recommend Progressive to anyone who is looking for an auto insurance company. When my car was stolen, I filed a claim with the company. My car was eventually recovered and deemed a total loss. When they reimbursed me for my car which was in great condition for a 2015 car they gave me around 3,000 less than what I initially paid for it... and I bought it used. I tried debating the amount with the claim agent but he made it clear that the amount they would reimburse me was not up for debate. If that were it, I might say Progressive is an okay but not great insurance company. But there's more. When the claim agent interviewed my girlfriend about my car being stolen, she mentioned that she drove my car every once in a while. Without mentioning it to me, the claim agent then added my girlfriend to my insurance policy because we live together and she uses my car. I was then hit with a bill to pay about 650 more for this change. And I was unable to remove her from my policy. My access to change it was restricted. So I had to call customer service and get the underwritting department to email me a form to exclude her from my policy. So if she ever got in an accident in my car, Progressive would not pay a penny to cover it. And if that wasn't enough, between the time my car was deemed a total loss and I bought a new car, Progressive charged me for coverage. I didn't even have a rental car during this 3 week period. I called customer service to get a reimbersed for that period since the insurance company was not doing anything for me at time. In response they told me I could not be reimbersed because my girlfriend had been added to my insurance during that period. I told them that should not make a difference and they treated me like I was a crazy person. They said that my claim agent should have told me about the steps to take to change my policy once my car was deemed a total loss but he didn't. HE DIDN'T EVEN TELL ME WHEN HE ADDED MY GIRLFRIEND TO MY INSURANCE POLICY I only knew once they charged me for the change. So they're charging me for a total fiction - a car that had been deemed a total loss and that was in their possession. Like I said before, I didn't even have a rental car during this period. I'm still fighting this issue but I doubt I will be get anywhere with these people. My advice to you is to avoid using this company altogether so you don't have to go through any of this unbelievably frustating hassle. I'm in the process of switching my coverage to a different insurance company right now."

"They doubled my rates over the past 6 month period. I've had no accidents, violations, or claims of any sort in over 20 years. I have been at the same address for 10 years and my credit is fair-good. They refuse to respond to my emails and calling just leaves me on hold after passing my call from one dept. to the next until I finally give up and hang up. This is by far the worst insurance company I have ever had a policy with, and that includes Geico"

"I recently moved to another state for 7 months. I changed to Progressive because they said I could keep my insurance in my home state for that period of time. But three weeks later after I had changed to them they said I couldn't. This was either a bate and switch or an out and out lie to get me to purchase their insurance."

"Suddenly, they started raising my rates. When I called to get a quote prior to changing my car to make sure I can afford it, they gave me the quote but when the bill came in it was 25. more than what I was quoted. Only 2 months later, they raised my rates yet again. When I called to ask why since I have lived in same place for 61 years, have excellent credit and no tickets or accidents in my life, they pulled that bullcrap line, There have been more claims than usual in your area, to justify the increases. First of all I happen to work in my state Atty General office Dept of Consumer Affairs and nwe get complaints all the time ref auto i8nsurance companies and the most common excuses that we hear that the insurance companies give are 1. There were more claims than usual in your area 2. It is not us raising the rates but the state is raising the rates. Both crap lies Direct from my state insurance commissioner is the stats showing that statewide from Jan 2016 to this present day there had been a 13% decrease in auto accidents in my state. Sop they are liars on that excuse thatr they gave me. Secondly, the state does not raise the prices In fact, the insurance companies petition beg the state 2-3x per year for the right to raise the rates and offer the state a percentage of the raises as a kick bag for allowing the raises. They will have you pay for the accidents of others and that is wrong. As far as loyalty goes, another bull crap because when you are loyal paying for many years, the rates should go down and not up if you have maintained a good driving record free of tickets and accidents. People need to start suing this and other companies that are making it harder and harder for people to legally own a car. It was better when auto insurance was not a legal requirement and totally up to car owners if they wanted to insure their car or not. Freaking bassturds , I am driving a base 21 year old car with no options at all which they sucked me in with a rate of 19. per month and now 2 years later so many raises that I am paying a lil over 2500. per year as if I were paying full coverage I am at basic liability for a new car"

"Had a small incident with our garage door closing unexpectedly. We were treated like criminals for several weeks and then the agreed upon payment to the repair facility was screwed up causing more grief when we went to pickup our car. Worst insurance experience we have ever had"

"I was a customer for more than 6 years.... I felt my premiums were too high I visited another Insurance agent... State Farm to be exact... Sat with a representative Gave my insurance details from my progressive policy to be sure to compare apples to apples.... Progressive was 282.00 a month.... State Farm 151.... I made the Mistake of thinking customer loyalty mattered.... I see how they pay for all their commercials now... Off of the backs of people who think loyalty matters"

"Have had Progressive for over 4 years, had to switch due to USAA dropped my auto insurances due to issue with teen driver. Progressive was a little expensive, but was expected due tot he of claims, tickets with teen driver. So was thankful for them taking us. But after 4.5 years, I am not reviewing as they raised my rate, after they had went down over the last 2 years. Said due to my husband one accident over a year ago, and still due to young driver, but many had fallen off as many were in 2013. Except my husband had a fender bender in 2016, so they say unable to reduce. so, shopped around, and found 250 cheaper per 6 months with GEICO. So, have to change, after all. I have asked twice, but no one today offered to even review it again, so it was cancelled, to save otherwise they were great, with any claims."

"I chose Progressive because they were less than anyone else. I signed up for 6 months with them. They automatically renewed me after the 6 months were up raised my rate without warning by 40 a month. I called and asked for some help with my rate 300 a month for 1 car they said their was nothing they could do. I told them I would have to cancel because I couldn't afford it. I then received a bill in the mail for 177 They said I was responsible for paying the rest of my 2nd 6 month term with them. If I told the cust serv rep on the phone, I couldn't afford 40 more a month, why would she not have mentioned that they were going to zap me with this fee When I called inquiring about the fee, I was put on hold for over 30 minutes and eventually just hung up because it was evident that they weren't coming back."

"This is a company started by 2 attorneys, completely run by a patented business software system, agents will not live less than 3 hours from you, NO PHYSICAL BUSINESS LOCATIONS where you can speak to someone in person, it pays attorneys to deny handleyour claim instead of paying your claim, been in court over two years against them now for SHERMAN ACT VIOLATION, don't forget you can't say you have insurance when suing in court. They always win. Just throw your money in the garbage, more satisfaction that way at least. They ruined my life."

"I was warned by my prior insurer that Progressive would draw me in at a low rate and then raise it. I recorded calls with Progressive asking them about this and made them check my driving report before accepting. After six months my rate increased over 20 without cause. I was told by a supervisor I was given a e-sign discount for my first term. It was a bait and switch. He arrogantly dared me to try to fight it. I checked online and they do it all the time along with other exploitative business practices. I called them again and a new policy agent answered but they honestly are kept in the dark about it. How vulgarly dishonest."

"my truck was stolen, I live in Kansas truck was recovered in the Arizona desert, I received a call from progressive telling me nothing was wrong with my truck, except for broken window. after flying to pick up the truck I found it in very bad shape barley ran transmission overheating and lots of merchandise stolen out of it. I called progressive they said to take it to a shop, not being from that area I took it to the closest shop I could find . After at least 3 visits from progressive and them changing their version at least twice to fit their scenario or opinion of what caused the problem progressive then denied my claim . I would not use this company, they are very dishonest and will do anything they can to deny your claim and it was obvious from my very first conversation I had with them."

"Given paperless discount and I provided three ways to contact requiring no paper. I refused to open an account. I did not want to be harassed my marketing. Opening an account gives them permission to share your personal information. They know that the contacts are available as I am constantly contacted by them. All contacts lead to mandatory account. I have to change my phone number. "Someone sold my personal information. They sent me a bill because I was removed from paperless discount. "

"policy billing, if you have more than one vehicle, becomes impossible to decipher. a payment infull for a six month premium is still billed monthly,with ten dollar late fees added, each month. payment surcharges are added if you use credit and debit card. and customer service reps at the company have not been able to tease out which of my premium payments went for what vehicle and how the money was transferred to them. the progressive company has not given me a list of payments i made to them,or how this money was applied to my policy. i have my debit and credit card payment records i made to them but their billing is so messed up it is impossible to sort out"

"Kids have used more than I have. All new drivers. All claims handled professionally and speedy even when they the kids were at fault. I was notified by progressive before I was informed by my girls in both cases. Rates increased as expected for a 16-17 yr old driver in an accident. My only complaint is I have moved up levels, yet I do not know what the levels mean or the benefits of each level. As a 55 yr old driver, the only time I use it is when my windshield is broken by a truck who throws a rock. Claims are processed and the service is great"

"I've had progressive for eight years and had my first accident where I was at fault in beginning of November 2014. My car was a total loss and I still haven't heard from my claims rep The service is horrible I kept calling my claim rep I've left several messages I've emailed her and yet and still have I received any calls or emails from her nor a check for the totally loss of my car It's now December 12014.and still no response from progressive Progressive need to stop paying Flo all that money for commercials and take care of thier customers I find this very disturbing and I'm not happy with the outcome so far Don't go with progressive the service is horrible"

"I've had them for 10 years now. Only one collision and one comprehensive claim deer over those 10 years. The claims went smooth and for the comprehensive claim i was in my car less than 3 weeks after the accident and my rates stayed the same. "I do paperless billing etc. I did not see an email asking for proof of garaging address. They went and found my address of almost 10 years ago in a city I no longer live in and are now saying I owe a balance of 1553. I received no notice of this until they tried to process the payment with my bank. I do not own property have utility in my name and unable to work from surgery. I guess its guilty until proven innocent with them. I don't know who the "consumer reporting agency" is they used but their records are super old and now I am paying the price. I am hoping to sort out this problem. This is an awful business practice and a phone rep treated me condescendingly and as if I were lying. Told me no use talking to her supervisor. I smell a scam because I found out they did the same thing to a friend. Horrible. Any proof of residence I have they say - nope - not unless you can prove you received it within the past 60 days. I am livid. I will def never use them again. "

"I have been with Progressive for over 7 years and had one minor accident claim. They paid the claim and my rates didnt increase and everything was fine. Then I got a 2 pt. defective vehicle ticket and my rates shot up 25% at my next renewal. I havent had any prior tickets during my time with this company and I was shocked at how much my rate went up. When I called to ask about the increase they said it was primarily due to the ticket and a slight increase from normal rate increases. I cant believe a non-moving violation will increase your rate so much with this company. I will be shopping around and finding another insurance company who has a better policy on minor non-moving violations. How can a company not increase rates for a claim they paid out for and then increase rates for a minor traffic offense? "

"My daughter totaled a used vehicle that I her father bought insured myself one day after the policy went into effect. She was a honor student works full-time and has a 3 month old baby who she is raising herself. Progressive is investigating her like she is a criminal I would highly recommend to anyone considering using Progressive to stay clear of this company"

"Obtained coverage based on their recommendations agreed to the amount. Once we signed for coverage and they "reviewed" our information the coverage went up 3000.00. Progressive says the agent gave them the wrong information Agent says Progressive told THEM how to classify the business. Neither one will do anything about the additional 3000.00 due from US."

"Website is full of lies and deceit do your own math when they attempt to explain how much a total loss costs. They add a credit to a debit I was involved in accident other driver clearly at fault his company recognized this but Progressive "grabbed the claim stating they could remove the burden and settle it quickly. 18 days not even close I don't know how they claim 7 days. Why would Progressive grab a zero fault claim? The answer lies in subjugation and they will make their money at my cost. I have taken copious notes caught them in 6 lies 3 threats and their towing operators are even worse... I have to hire an attorney to protect my rights from my own insurance company FYI State Farm insurer of at fault party has settled with their customer who is very happy with their process. Run Away Quickly run away from them."

"My main and only complaints with Progressive are regarding the claims adjuster. I did not feel he represented my interests explained information and the process to me to my satisfaction and has made the claims process even more frustrating and inconvenient for me. Up until this experience I have had no reason to dislike Progressive. But I may now research switching companies after this claim is resolved."

"Adjusters were polite patient gave thorough explanations and returned calls and emails promptly. The representative who came to the court hearing where my ticket was ultimately dismissed was very helpful. I am sincerely grateful for the help I received from Progressive after the car accident I was in."

"I had American Family before switching to Progressive. When I switched my one year premium dropped 400 for the same coverage. I have had to file two claims with Progressive one for a not-at-fault accident and one for an at-fault. Both were handled very quickly and well. My car was a total loss in one instance and I was not 100% satisfied with the payout but I think that is fairly common across the board when it comes to total losses. One little hint when searching for insurance go through an agent who works for several different companies. They can quickly compare the different companies to find the best rate for you. Also they can quickly make any changes to your policy and answer your questions MUCH better and more quickly than a large insurance company will. Thanks"

"I am 53 and have not had a claim nor ticket in 28 years. I received a very good quote on 4 vehicles and decided to go with Progressive. I paid in full for 6 months. A month later they came back and said they had 'mis-quoted' and wanted another 47.00. Then after the first 6 months when it came time to renew still no claims or violations the new policy was 200 more than the previous 6 months... The ol' Bait and Switch' Buyer beware......."

"I hate insurance companies. I don't trust any of them. But I have to admit we have had great service and prices with Progressive I can't even believe I'm saying this. My wife had an accident that totaled our car while we were out of state. No injuries just property damage to car. Everything was settled in a week and a half. Adjuster and folks on the phone couldn't have been nicer or more competent. I think it was because we were dealing with a small town but I'm very impressed."

"We had to have our home inspected by one their contracted inspectors. In March they told us we had to "correct" problems they had identified on our property. Items were the house needed to be painted we are painting it ourselves lawn debris we have some remodeling scrap and we have broken steps cement corners/tips 1 inch for this they cancelled our insurance"

"Progressive left me hanging for 2 weeks before any work was started. They have an office in the collision center bldg and no one knew my vhiclewas there for repairs. it took almost 2 months and talking to more than 20 seriously I kept track people for the repairs to be completed. I am switchng my auto rv and motorcycle insurance as soon as possible. And by the way during this ordeal I never met anyone from progressive."

"got in a car accident and totaled my car - gave me a check for the car within a week. that part was great. then they jacked up my insurance costs at renewal time to the tune of an additional 250 a year this was not related to the accident that price went up within the month. called to ask why - no reason just a standard increase. nothing to do with my driving record. said it was typical rate for the area that i lived in. i said i have lived in the same location for 20 years what has changed in the last six months. no answer just repeated that the increase was normal. i shopped around and switched insurance carriers - seems like a bait and switch operation to me. "I had an accident with another progressive driver.... He ran failed to yield and was cited for failure to yield... Took 3 weeks before my vehicle was looked at and a month and a half before it was settled... "When My policy was up for renewal I had to call to find out if the rates were the same. After being hung up on twice I finally got to speak to someone and My policy went up 20.00 a Month. "I have had an auto claim which they handled to my satisfaction. I also had my home insured always paid my annual premium on time and did not file a claim for close to 30 years then suddenly received an impersonal xeroxed form letter in the mail stating that my policy would be canceled effective a month from now because of one or more of the following three reasons all bogus reasons that did not really apply to my case. Only one of the three seems to have some validity my house is located close to a regional park which has easy access to fire-fighting equipment and has never had a fire. I also had a septic tank repair bill of about 2000 and after receiving my rejection letter I decided to make a claim which they denied. What a letdown all the thousands of dollars paid to this rip-off company over all those years and to end up being treated worse than a dog. "

"Had the worse insurance experience with this company.I never received mail from them or email. I only received one piece of mail stating I was at risk for having the policy cancelled due to not sending them a copy of my license. I had faxed it over and next thing you know ..they cancelled my policy.. when I called in they had told me they sent me letters and emails stating the copy of license was no good....never received anything..then.. "Have had Progressive Insurance for over 8 years. No tickets in 40 years. Had at fault backing accident totaling 1725.00. Had Progressive "Diamond Membership" which was to forgive both minor and major accidents. Found out direct from Progressive that a minor accident was only 500.00 limit and a major accident was only 1000.00 limit. Are they serious? When calculating the retail/compensation value they did not take transportation licensing fees etc. into account since they where separate points on the original bill leaving me with around a 1000 to pay out of pocket for getting a replacement. Guess what they lowered my premium guess my credit rating got better in their eyes when I asked them why they just didnt give me the lower number to start I was met with stammering and stuttering on the phone. Oh and by the way Progressive didnt match the premium didnt come anywhere near it. Want to know what the Progressive agent said to me She said that if it were her she would jump all over that other insurance company policy and save my money. Gee finally an honest response. FYI the new insurance company is rated in the top 5 in the country."

"I have been with Progressive since 2001 I believe. I have had no issues with them and they always have been there for me. When my husband locked our keys in the car at the mall and I was five monthe pregnant It was getting dark and it was raining. I called progressive and they got a tow truck out and opened our doors. I dont remember how long it took. After having a baby you forget things. But I do know it was a sufficient amount of time. They always followed up with calls to let me know how long till they got there and made sure that they did. I moved to Texas before I got Progressive and went with a little hometown insurance company. Not knowing if you move you have to find another insurance company if it is another state. Our experience called claims 9am Thursday morning emergency repair company called us an hour later came to our home the next morning n began demolition and plumber showed up. "My motorcycle was damaged severly. I was in the hospital. The towed it, paid the storage rent, then paid for a Harley dealer to replace parts to make it like new. No aftermarket crap, just Harley parts, and replaced parts which had minor rash, as well as badly scratched ones. Great company to deal with."

"Recently have filed a claim to repair a car...after waiting a week it was returned to us in an unsatisfactory condition. Still waiting for a part to be replaced because they failed at the first attempt by using duck tape rolled into a ball to support lights on both sides of the vehicle from rocking against the bumper. Extremely disappointed since we have been loyal paying customers. I would not recommend using their choice of mechanics nor confident in the Progessive Agent to inspect the vehicle before returning the vehicle to the customer."

"the lady who rear ended me had progressive, the bad news is i did too, progressive gave me an estimate almost 2 weeks after my car was towed, i begged them to speak with someone representing me after the adjuster called to tell me that the rear end collision could not have caused steering damage, evenhthough their own body shop that was in their pocket said that my tires would have shown uneven wear if i had been driving a car that was out of line, they were rude, unwilling to help in anyway, and are now saying i must fix the scratches that were already on my car before they can fix the damage their driver did, i have not heard anything from them after the estimate they sent me 3 bussiness days ago, late today an agent called to tell me that i had to take the rental car back right then, i have read other insurance companies complaints, all of them are dirty, it makes me sick that i live in a country where i am ordered to pay for a company like progressive just to drive my car"

"I have four autos listed in TX, full coverage on two, one has liability only and the other has liability and theft. All four are $1400 yr on one payment.Have had them thirteen years and they have never been a problem and they never raise rates very much. When I get quotes they usually come up about a $1000 per 6 months, making $2ooo yr, $600 more than progressive. That is why I have not changed."

"My vehicle was vandalized. Broken windshield and rear windshield, and they keyed the driver side. I had full coverage, so I thought my insurance company (Progressive) would take care of me. Wrong! They sent a special investigator from Sacramento to interview me. She said the cost to fix my car was too high, so they deemed it a total loss. For reasons beyond my knowledge this involved interrogating my fiance at work, my neighbors, and even my relatives who live 300 miles away from where the vandalism took place. Everyone she spoke to felt abused by her in one way or another. "I got rear-ended while taking the car out of my apartment basement parking. The other person was inattentive and was driving very fast. Progressive claims agent started siding the with the other party right from the beginning, proactively called them up, offered then a check up and check all in one day. I am really surprised to see his dedication to others while ripping off his own client. "The Progressive Adjuster came out right after a car vandalism incedent. She made her notations regarding the damage, went over them with me, and stayed in contact while the claim processed. I was notified within days and collected my insurance benefit in days for the check. I had to pay my Out of Pocket Deductible of $500. My damages came to almost $900. They issued me a $400 dollar check and I made a appointment right away with a body shop. I advice you to shop around and get quotes. I would also like to advise you to go to a reputable shop. Ask them questions. How long will it take to get the damages fixed, in the event it takes longer to repair how does the shop handle that? Get names, dates, times, and document this information. "We have Progressive insurance and have had it for a couple of years. One of our cars got totaled by a valet driver who was driving another vehicle and ran a stop sign. The valets insurance company was taking long to pay our car off so Progressive went ahead and paid our car off and is fighting them to get reimbursed. My accident was not counted against me, my insurance rates did not go up. I have been completely satisfied on how Progressive handled my accident. I could check online for all of the progress, including their reports on the damage to my vehicle and gave me a direct contact to my rep. This is by far the best insurance company I have dealt with. The Rep was always curtious and really helpful. "

"Got into an accident, where i was on the main road and had the right of the way, this guy jumped a stop sign and hit my car on the side. Progressive sent their agent who tried telling me that i was at fault too. When they quoted me in the beginning they used Kelly's Blue Book for the value of my car after the accident they declared my car a total because according to the software they use my car's value had depreciated from $8000(a year before the accident) to $3000 ( at the time of the accident). So they offered me $2200 after declaring my car total. Do not use their recommended Mechanics they quoted me $3500 for repairs. I got my car repaired for $2100 on my own. Got a Lawyer and maid they pay. This company is a Cheat, Watch out!!!"

"In over three years, we've filed two glass claims and one collision claim. Very dissatisfied with the handling of the collision claim. Each time talked to representative was told conflicting information. She complained about how far she had to go to view the car at our chosen body shop. She didn't know where the shop was although other Progressive reps frequently there. Requests to elevate to a supervisor were ignored and then difficult to pursue. We're changing companies at next renewal. I believe our problems were related to this claim representative rather than company issues but that's who my interaction was with. Had a separate issue where we called customer service rep (not claims rep) and were quite pleased with the service and genuine desire to get it resolved. "

"Thanks, Progressive, for ruining my life for the last 8 months. I was side swiped off the road by a non-English speaking jerk who also happened ot have Progressive. Spent two days in the hospital, the car had thousands of dollars worth of damage. Couldn't even walk after the accident. I spent the last 6 months getting regular therapy with a chiropracter and a masseuse. Because of the severe pain I get migraines once or more a week and have to frequently take pain meds and valium to relieve the pain. Directly after my accident I had one adjustor, who passed it off to someone else, who passed it off to someone else again. I was sideswiped by the man who swerved into my lane, then tried to run before the cops got there. Within a week they decided I was 100% at fault, so I got an attorney. BOOM-Just like that they dropped my liability to 5%, stating the it was 5% my fault because I "wasn't paying attention to the fact that he was going to hit me so I should have gotten out of the way". Last week I had the IME appointment with their doctor. Got the report today, he said that "my pain is exaggerated, and fake, and made-up". The exercises he had me do, he said I was "Faking pain". So naturally, they cut my medical off not last week when I had the appointment, but a month ago. I knew as soon as I walked in the door to the IME that he had already made my decision before he even met me. The way he asked questions and interrupted me when I tried to answer told me that he was getting paid a LOT of money by Progressive to say that I was not hurt in any way. So that's that. Do you think I'll ever renew with Progressive?? NO. I've been with them for almost 4 years and this is my first accident. Great going Progressive. Bet you won't see these comments on their commercials."

"I purchased a brand new 2009 vehicle in November. On January 11, I received a call that the car was hit while parked and the back of the car was pushed up on the sidewalk. While the cops were still there attending to the other driver, I immediatley called Progressive. It is now February 18, more than a month later, and still no car. They first only thought that there was body damage. But after I picked up the car, I noticed that the car was pulling to the left. The auto shop said that the axle was cracked and it looked like there was some damage to the wheel. They never even examined the wheel. Then when the vehicle had to go out for an alignment (I guess I never realized that there is a difference between a body shop and an auto shop), the other shop scratched the driver side door. While I appreciate the shop getting the vehicle restored to the way it was, it has taken entirely too much time and my rental coverage only covers thirty days. I would have taken it to another shop, but the claims representative said that they will not cover the entire bill, and there would be no guarantees. The auto shop that Progressive sent me to was not qualified to the job and therefore should not be the "only shop in the area" to repair my vehicle in a "timely manner". "

"I have had 2 policies with Progressive, one a couple of years ago where I had to file a hail damage claim. No problems getting everything taken care of. I now have a new policy with them, great coverage 1/2 of what other companies charge. I've had to call their billing dept twice to get my payment extended due to lack of funds, and they have always been quick courteous and pleasant. I have (luckily) had no problems so far. I have never had to wait long on the phone for help, and the person who has helped me has always been very apologetic and polite. "

"My car was flooded last summer. The customer service I have received has been horrible. After 5 weeks in the repair shop, I received my car back with silt inside and out and the worst smell imaginable. I began having mechanical problems within a few days as well. The interior was cleaned again and the smell improved, but it was still present. I was told that I would need to prove that mechanical problems were related to the flood in order for them to be repaired. A few small items were repaired. Since some of the problems could not be diagnosed (shaking, loud noises, error codes no longer being recorded), I was told that they would not be fixed. I had to pay out of pocket for a transmission 3.5 months after I got my car back, since I could not prove the flood caused the problem (even though I had never had problems until the flood and there had been filthy flood water in the transmission). I ended up trading my car in (for the price of the transmission) because I could not take the risk of continued problems. I was out of pocket $6000, even though I had full coverage. "

"Over several years, no one in the family has had an accident or traffic violation added to a driving record. Progressive has continued to lower our yearly premiums. I check several major auto insurers(State Farm, Allstate, AAA, Western National, Liberty Mutual, Thrivent)each year and none can come close to what Progressive charges. We have never shorted ourselves on insurance - we always purchase the most coverage. People say that you can never speak to an agent in person when dealing with Progressive. "I have a small, 22', RV built on a Freightliner Chassis. The first month I had the vehicle I backed up into a wall which I didn't see. I now have a backup camera on the van. There was 2,800 damage to the unit. Progressive's agent examined the damage while at a repair facility of my choice. The damage was repaired in a timely manner and paid directly to the repair facility. We just paid the deductible. Our original rate was $650, the bill came last week and they raised the rate to $1,100. Am in a quandry as to staying with them. Looked into AARP Hartford but there were so many really terrible reviews that I don't know what to do at this point in time.. Probably will stay with Progressive."

"I was very happy with Progressive because their prices are the best. When I got in my accident, I found out why. They didn't pay my physican correctly. My doctor was very thorough and spent well over an hour with me, even on my followups. I live in Florida and did some research and found out that because of the personal injury law, there is a rule that insurance companies have to pay based on medicare pricing. But my stupid company instead of paying what the doctor billed (and I thought he should have gotten) they said that my case was not complex enough or he shouldn't have spent the time that he did with me. I was scared and had a lot of questions and he really helped me out. I can see why doctors don't want to accept insurance from people anymore. Insurance companies, especially Progressive based in Tampa, Florida, are robbers without the guns."

"I have had two claims two months apart - neither at my fault. Progressive was absolutely great in helping with my claims. The first was a fender bender with only about $1000 worth of damage, the other driver's insurance claimed liability progressive waived my deductible and took care of everything. I was able to take my car to the service center, everyone was very professional - picked it up a week later like brand new. My most current claim was a hit and run outside my residence. Again, took it into the service center they called me yesterday to tell me what they had found, what would need to be done and when it would be ready. I got another call today letting me know that they found more damage on the suspension once they took the panel off and it would take a couple more days to fix. Also, they found missed welding spots from an accident a few years ago (again - not my fault), but fixed by Progressive so they are fixing those as well! (as they should since they guarantee their work) All I can say is that I am very happy to be with them. It has now been about 4 years that I've had coverage with them, my rates have steadily decreased every 6 mos. I had been thinking about shopping around for better rates but with the service that I've received in the past few months, I've decided that I don't mind paying a few extra dollars. I'll be sticking with Progressive."

"I know that the only time that people take the time to write reviews or give their comments is when they are upset, with that said I write many positive reviews about companies and I can say that Progressive insurance POSITIVELY SUCKS...... The claim adjusters are nothing but robbers. I was helping a friend with there claim (I run a car dealership) and the Progressive Claim adjusters did nothing but lie me to RE market conditions and values from the get go. They faxed me quotes of 4 or 5 like vehicles that they based there values on 2 had bad car fax reports ( ie completely rebuilt near salvage vehicles) Other we from a different state that allows the sale of as is vehicles,They did not want to pay the claim based on NADA ( industry standard guide) Kelly blue book or actual vehicles for sale. They are however a bright company that realizes that most consumer will not spend alot of time and effort to acutually stand up for themselves Needless to say I would not recomend them for any reason what so ever. I guess that the saying you get what you pay for is very true especially with insurance."

"My car was broadsided by another car running a red light. Since the accident was not my fault, Progressive refused to take care of anything. Progressive told me to file a claim against the party at fault's insurance. So, in essence, if you have an accident and it's your fault, they probably are better than in one where it's not your fault. I was completely on my own. Had to hire an attorney to communicate with the other insurance company and of course his fees were most of the costs. I was under the stupid impression that one's own insurance company handled the process and claims. NOT SO! As well, the claims agent was extremely rude to me. "Woe be it to he/she who finds that their credit score has suffered. One claim filed (my parked car hit) during entire Progressive coverage - but that didn't raise my premium. Total of 5 years with Progressive. In the end, my credit got trashed due to failed business & lousy business partner. No tickets ever during. 1 minor accident lifetime- more than 15 yrs ago. "we insured our car for 1 month, but a minimum of 2 months had to be payed. the friendly staff told us we would be refunded without a cancellation fee after 1 month, which all worked out very well. as two young students we had a hard time insuring our Cobra convertible, but progressive were willing to help. good service. we did not make any claims though. "The customer service rep didnt tell me the options that I can have different deductibles for comprehensive and collision coverage. Also, didnt tell me that I need to add car rental seperate even when you say you want the full coverage. The claim department was great for the liability claims but when I had to get my car fixed under comprehensive coverage, it was a hassle. The insurance co. say its not there fault, the repair shop says its not their fault, but I am upset with both of them because I had to go though so much and be without a car for a whole week."

"Ok I am torn here? Wonderful experience the whole time with Progressive they have always taken care of me and when I had my claim they jumped to it like magic and before you know it my loan was paid and so was I. Then I go to replace the motorcycle and they quote me $168 so I say great add it. I buy the motorcycle and then check my profile online it still has the wrecked one and no sign of the new one. I call in to find out what is going on and they tell me they still have to add the new motorcycle? What? Ok. They tell me I gave them the wrong VIN? "I would not normally advertise for a company but I have recently had a really amazing customer service experience I have a lot to say about my recent experience with my car insurance company, Progressive I LOVE PROGRESSIVE After my car wreck last Thursday I was in a lot of pain and very stressed about what would happen to my car, my health, the impact it would have on my daily life, bills, medical costs etc.. etc... Thank you to Progressive my life is so much more pleasant and less stressful at this point I called to make a claim the next day with their claims department. I was not on hold very long and did not have to talk to 20 million computer voices while pressing buttons before I could speak to a person. The gentleman was very courteous and went above and beyond in his empathy and consideration. He expressed concern for my well-being and the outcome of the accident. Sure this is his job, but phone service representatives usually just do what is required of them with very little positive affect in their voice or attitude. He asked what had happened and the whole time had a very sincere concerned tone "Oh wow, that is awful... you are so lucky it wasn't worse...thank goodness you are ok etc... " He was very calming and helpful He provided any contact numbers I may need and explained the full process of taking care of my claim. He located the nearest body shop for me and called them with me on the line to make the earliest appointment at my convenience. He constantly made sure everything was clear, simple, and without any problems. He provided me with a number to call him directly if I should have any issues. It continued to be an easy and smooth process... When I arrived at the body shop the progressive representative promptly called the rental service then proceeded to go over the damages of the car with me while taking clear photos and checking every little detail. They listened carefully and also seemed concerned. The representative from Hertz arrived very quickly and drove me to the rental location. They were also friendly and clearly explained every part of the rental and what part Progressive covered as well as what my options were with gas, daily insurance etc... Daily insurance for the rentals was usually $25.00 to cover any damage that may occur to the vehicle while in your possession. However, because I was there through Progressive, it only cost me $12.99 daily. This meant that no matter what happened to the vehicle, from a small scratch to it being totaled, I was only responsible for that $12.99 and not held liable. Progressive would also call and extend the rental for me if necessary, so I simply get the keys to a car equivalent to my own or more and drive it for as long as I need. I ended up with an 08 Ford Fusion with dash board controls on the steering wheel, a navigation system, Sirius satellite radio, and an in dash 6cd player :) and get to drive it for the length of my repair at no cost to me accept gas and the optional daily insurance. and there is more... Saturday another representative from Progressive called me. This time an equally kind and considerate woman. She was the one to handle my injuries and personal health coverage. She explained that Progressive will cover 80% of all costs including my x-rays, ambulance ride, ER fees, Cat Scan, and even prescriptions. They would file all the paperwork with the hospital then send paperwork to my health insurance company for the remaining balance. All I had to do was. send them copies of my prescription receipts. She expressed concern and told me not to "over-do-it" at work and to call her if I needed help with anything. She also told me she would call me in a few days to see how I was feeling. Even better, Progressive is reimbursing me for the days I missed at work due to the accident, all I had to do was send copies of my last two paychecks, they even phoned my manager at work for me. This is not my first positive experience with Progressive, last time I just needed some body work after a car battery was left in the road and destroyed my front fender...they had the same great service with a rental...but this time with the medical issues they just knocked my socks off with amazing customer service. in short... if it is in your budget to switch car insurance companies, I strongly suggest looking into rates for Progressive. They are one of the less expensive companies and they also have included pet insurance for your pets traveling with you along with motorcycle, RV, Boat, and other types of insurance. their kindness and amazing guest service has won me over it may be their job, but they do it well and I feel safer and more can at ease because of it anyway... if you want to be worry free in a situation that be devastating, Progressive can help! "

"Progressive nickel & dimed me like no other. I signed up because I got a great online quote, but a week or so later, I got a notice stating that I owed them more money (I still don't know why). Later, I added my boyfriend to my policy, which led to a significant increase in my policy; when I called to find out why, I was told that since he had been in an accident (NOT his fault; he was rear ended) that my premium increased. I took him off my insurance, but was still charged $15 for him being insured for 1 day. It is now time to renew, and my premium has gone up nearly $100 since I first signed. I've not gotten any tickets, nor have I been in any accidents. I checked with GEICO, and paid $100 less than what Progressive is charging me. Plus, with GEICO, I have MORE coverage for LESS money. Needless to say, I cancelled my Progressive policy immediately after I was approved through GEICO."

"I was in an accident where I was merging toward a toll booth and a tractor trailer hit me from behind because instead of letting me merge - he kept inching forward until he was on top of my trunk. He admitted on the police report to hitting me - he gave a statement to his insurance that he hit me - however progressive still couldn't "Close" this case in my favor... after 3 months and no word from them I called my insurance agent and they said they couldn't reach the other driver's company so they could get the insurance info --- I spent 7 minutes online and looked for the drivers company - not only did I find all of the valid phone numbers - but I then called progressive and gave them phone numbers and addresses - after 8 months of my insurance fighting his insurance in an OPEN and SHUT case - somehow noone could figure out who's fault it was and I lost my WHOLE deductible... "my fiance was in an accident not his fault and suffered whiplash and damages around 2500 to his celica. He decided to use the "concierge" service which seems ideal, a rental car is given and they take care of everything for you. I believe there is a reason this sounds too good to be true. When he picked up his car after repair he realized although the damage of the impact was fixed; a new front accident had occured. Upon talking to the service center they stated it was his fault and interogated him. When he spoke to the rep she said she would look into, the phone message we just received stated "I'm sorry but it is really inconclusive and I don't think the service people are making it up." "I was rear ended (no fault of my own) by a woman who had Progressive insurance. She took responsibility for the accident and I had to deal with Progressive. This has been a total nightmare. They convinced me to take it to their choice of body shop and demanded that I let them replace the bumper on my 2006 BMW with a re-manufactured bumper because it was cheaper for them. They told me if I got a new bumper I would have to pay the difference (which was not the case). They refused to do anything different so I got my car back and took it to the body shop of my choice. They turned it around in 48 hours with a new bumper. Everyone I have spoken with at Progressive is horribly rude, confrontational and unreasonable. Fortunately the body shop I used was great and told me to stay out of the loop and they would fight this for me. They are used to dealing with Progressive and go through this type of situation every day with them."

"If you are in an accident with a progressive claim holder, get a lawyer. My case has been passed to three progressive repesentitives so far as the first two quit. The second woman dealing with my case actually advised me that progressive WILL TRY TO RIP YOU OFF. She said they lie and do all they can to give you the least amount of money possible. "After being insured with them for 4 years, they suddenly were unable to obtain driving record. Provided it to them in August 2006 (in other words, did their job for them)Repeat, July 2007!!!! Changed drivers drivers history to 0 years driving experience and wanted to charge over $1400 per month! This came on the heels of the letter from them stating that they were rescinding their previous termination of our policy that they had notified us of (NEVER SAW IT!) because we no longer lived out of state. I never moved out of state, let alone moved back!!!! Where do they come up with this stuff? Why can they no longer obtain a driving record and claim there is no driving history on an individual they have been insuring for over 4 years? How do they determine that a person who has not moved at all, let alone out of state, has moved to Arizona? To add insult to injury, while trying to sort this mess out and outrageous premium charges due to their ineptness, we were late paying our premium, however when we did pay the 6 month premium, they accepted the payment via phone payment and the money was removed from my bank account. Then they changed the date of the policy after the fact and claimed there was a lapse in coverage! Yet I NEVER received any correspondence stating my insurance was terminated nor did they write a new policy when they changed the date of my coverage period. Now they refuse to to provide an FS-1 for the DMV and I was not notified about any lapse in coverage until 45 days after the lapse occurred! Yet there was no mention of this when they accepted the payment. In order to make a payment, one needs an policy number, if I had no insurance how did can they take my money and apply the payment to a policy that had lapsed? Furthermore after taking time from work, twice in the past year, and driving over 60 miles to the closests DMV office to provide them with a drivng record they still almost 30 days later continued to send bills for over $1400 per month, due to a lack of driving history! These folks are truly incompetant even when it pertains to the simplest of issues! Beware they may have moved you out of state to, if not they still may decide to make you an inexperienced driver despite the fact that you have been driving for 30+ years and then try to charge you $1400 a month and take your money and after the fact claim you had a lapse in coverage! RUN from Proggressive as fast as you can!!! It is a living nightmare! Every time you think you have it fixed, it rears its ugly head again and again! It is akin to being in the movie Groundhog Day, everyday you deal with it and just when you think it is finally resolved, it starts all over again! "

"I got rearended on 10/30/2006 by a guy going 47 miles per hour in a merging lane i was stopped because the vehicle in front of me was stopped. he hit me so hard i hit my head on the rear window of my truck at least 3 times. police came made out report and sent it in, they responded very quickly to the repair of the vehicle, but don't have a claim for an injury because they treat you like crap. they sent a representative out to my house and three times he asked me how much my injury was worth to me.and each time i told him the same thing i am not signing anything because i don't know what is wrong with my neck and shoulder. he quit bugging me but then the phone calls from the insurance company started. they offered me, for my loss wages $50.00 and I make a little bit less than that per hour. "Was rear-ended at red light by some one driving at a high speed (45 mph zone) who was talking on cell phone. Suffered brain injury , 9 herniated disks, polyradiculopathy, Fibromygla (sp?) and now have been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and can't drive. Neurologist said that if not for the accident, the MS would have probably never came out in my lifetime. Current brain MRI says I have multiple lesions and signal abnormalities consistant with MS. Progressive paid lost wages for a year before being sent to their paid-off quack (who is legally protected in Michigan), who examined me for 5 minutes and said nothing was wrong with me and there were nothing but lies through the whole report. They then cut off my lost wages (which Michigan No-Fault law entitles you to 3 years of paid wages (85%) and unlimited medical) and my claim was denied and closed. And then come to find out, none of medical bills were paid by them (I had my own primary insurance at the time and Progressive was secondary) (now in collection and my credit has been destroyed). Everytime I see a Progressive commercial, I want to through something at the TV. It makes me sick that their profits are in the billions and now my healthcare (Medicaid) and bills will need to be paid by taxpayers and other community services. I even had extra underinsurance/uninsurance coverage in case someone hit me that didn't have insurance or did not have enough liability insurance. What the hell did I pay extra for? Nothing!!! I will probably lose my home since I can't work. They may pay out claims to damaged vehicles, but not for injuries. I even called State of Michigan's Insurance office who regulates these insurance companies and was told they couldn't do anything. Go find an attorney is what they told me. Don't get fooled by their hip commercials. They are probably the worst out there for unpaid injury claims. I am going to try to round up people (voulnteers)who have also been denied serious injury claims in Michigan or anybody that wants to help, to do a video (cannot do by myself) on current Michigan law and the changes that need to be made for injuries from accidents (it has passed in the house and now goes to the Senate (who will probably shoot it down). About 95% (probably more) of serious injuries are denied in the county courts and never make it to a jury because they don't meet the current threshholds (which are absolutely ridiculous). If you are from Progressive insurance company, I don't want to hear from you unless it is positive (which I doubt). Also, beware that these insurance companies watch for anything an injured person might post on the interent that they can use against them. P.S. I had someone type this for me. Also, dropped my insurance with Progressive after they closed my claim and went with another before I couldn't drive anymore. "

"Have been with Progressive for nearly 5 years. They have given me the best rates of all insurance companies and their customer service has always been good. I made a glass claim back in 2006 and they sent a glass company out to my job 2 days later to replace my windshield (no out of pocket expense due to Florida law and a waived claim on my policy). I made my second claim this past week. It has been a bit nervewracking as neither myself or Progressive is sure the at fault driver has valid insurance or not. However my claims adjuster and the service center have been awesome in letting me know what steps I need to take if her insurance comes back invalid. Only downside is their Tampa Bay service center is located way out in the sticks which is a 35 minute drive from downtown Tampa and 35 minutes from St. Petersburg. "

"Rates are the best I've found. Had 2 motorcycles totaled and both claims were paid promptly, although a bit cheaply. However, nothing like the awful treatment I've received from State Farm in the past!"

"If you ever have the misfortune of filing a claim through Progressive (i had my car stolen) be prepared to be re-victimized! They harrassed my 86 year old grandmother - who had nothing to do with my claim - to the point where i had to take her to the emergency room for her blood pressure- Why- they wanted her to look for my spare key - which she had no clue of where it was because i had it. I will de canceling both my polices with this company as soon as this claim is cleared up!! NEVER AGAIN!!"

"Under SR-22, mistyped routing number led to my policy (that was being changed from one state to another) being canceled 3 weeks before first notification. The state has served me with a cease driving letter, because Progressive sends the state the info, even though I'm paying for the SR-22 filing. I could have been in jail, due to a typo, and they couldn't let me know faster? "

"Progressive does not care about their own customers, all they care about is ripping you off. Their representatives do not know what they are talking about and they do not call back. Even the managers don't respond when you leave them a message. They figure if they ignore you, then you will just shut up and go away. I am very, very unhappy with Progressive and I hope other people don't get FOOLED by their pretty little commercials. "
