"My husband was hit by an unlicensed driver with Safeway insurance. The accident was totally the Safeway drivers fault. I filed a claim with Safeway the next day and it was assigned to a claims adjuster who was out of town at the time. My calls to him went unanswered until a very rude woman returned my call. She didn't identify herself and basically said that they might not pay the claim and there was nothing I could do about it. When I asked for more information, she ended the call. I continued to leave messages for the assigned claims adjuster, but never heard from him. My own insurance company eventually got the name and number of a Safeway supervisor. I did speak to him, but he gave me no additional information. I finally received a letter from Safeway stating that they were investigating the claim. The letter misspelled my name and got my address wrong. It was also sent in a used envelope that was taped closed. Soon thereafter, my insurance heard that they declined the claim. I called the Safeway claims adjuster asking for a letter confirming the decision. I never heard from Safeway and have not received a letter. It has been a month since the accident and I never once spoke to the assigned claims adjuster. Safeway is a sloppy, unprofessional company that has no regard for customer service nor common courtesy. I would not recommend this company to anyone."

"Rip offs Safeway always tries to cheat-out of billing statements. If you pay monthly they charge a $5.00 fee which is not Written separately from what the amount due, nor do the dates reflect or state say in order to avoid the fee you must pay by this date, it doesn't specify in details or not Broken down for the customer. Therefore customers paying more then they should. No other company send out an amount due with Fee included without breaking it down and letting the customer know that there's a fee included in the payment. They promote what is told you Verbally, and do not want/care or as we were told Unprofessionally "it's not going to happen?" how rude. that's not how you respond to customers big or small client it doesn't matter. We were told by [name deleted], "we cannot please all the customers?" we were like, how about Doing the Right Job with dignity? how about not bullying and cheating customers? Give us a break SAFEWAY just because get off the high horse for no reason, and come down and get trained how to respect and respond to customers'request professionally and carefully. You do not need to hang up, or be rude there's no point whatsoever, Unless you want to receive thousand of Bad co. reviews, and LOSE BUSINESS. helloooo"

"The ONLY good thing about this company is you can drive legally on the road for cheap. I was in an accident, not my fault, it has been almost a week and I can't even get someone to call me back?? Are you kidding? I have no rental, I am injured, and they won't even get on the phone with me"

"Had my first accident but luckily I have full coverage. I Dont think it matters because Safeway was very rude and very slow on the claims process. It has now been a month and I still haven't received my check for my car. State farm seems the other guy insurance has been really helpful from the start. "

"Please do not get insurance with this company. I hit a deer and they are giving me the run around. They said that I didn't pay my premium I had to email them the receipt from where I paid it over the internet. This company is full of BS. "

"I had an issue with an out of state tag office regarding my insurance which is through this company. I called Safeway to see if I could get the matter sorted out the tag office could not see/find that my car was insured despite the fact that it wasand instead of finding helpful professional people I ran into some of the rudest irritating employees that I have ever had to deal with. The male agent that we originally purchased the insurance from was very matter of fact but never really got around to answering my question and seem annoyed with my calling to ask any questions in the first place. If you don't like dealing with customers maybe you shouldn't own a business that requires you to not only take their money but also deal with their auto insurance problems if one such arises. I will never deal with this company again and will be canceling my insurance soon. Extremely unprofessional"

"Nine years of loyalty. First accident. Won't call me back Horrible rude and uncaring. Have been with them nine years and no tickets or accidents when i finally need them-nothing. Accident Not my fault and the other company is treating me better. Do not get this insurance Can't even email... Nobody will even talk to me Very sad"

"This insurance company is a bunch of bs. They never want to pay for claims that have been filed. They are very rude. I have reported them to the insurance commission of our state for bad insurance practice."

"DO NOT use Safeway as your car insurance company. Been with them over 5 years. Recently had a claim. THEY DID NOT PAY FOR MY TOTALED CAR Apparently full coverage insurance is not full coverage insurance with them. I WILL BE GETTING OUT OF MY POLICY WITH THEM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Now I am stuck with a totaled car that I owe 7000 for. DO NOT GET SAFEWAY INSURANCE."

"The only reason I have been with this company for 5 years is because I have never had to file a claim. I was in an accident over a week ago and my car is now inoperable. Safeway has done ABSOLUTELY nothing to help. I have left a voicemail at least once a day with my assigned adjuster. I have even asked to speak to her manager and with no surprise got her voicemail as well. I will be changing insurance companies as soon as the circus is over and filing a complaint with my states insurance commisioner. "

"This company is a rip/off! If you file a claim, do no expect a phone call for any reason what so ever just keep calling them back..The other persons insurance company helped me with any info needed. Also i had to get the ball rolling for everything while safway did nothing! And I mean nothing. From 1-9-2011 til now 1-17-2011 not one phone call, but the other insurance company (very very satisfied me)... Would not recommed to a dog!) "

"I was insured with these crooks for over 2 years!!!! finally i had a claim i paid for higher coverage and i am still in the battle trying to have them pay out the state requirments!!!! They found me not at fault in the accident and still wont pay the caused my vehicle to get repossesed by the finance company because they did not pay the body shop and i was out of the country on a family emergency. The people working for this company are inconsiderate rude. The only interest this company takes is in your money after that you are nothing to them "

"They are the worst company to deal with. Crooks would be a good word to describe them. They only pay a bodyshop rate of $20.00 per hour. Even the shops they send you to do not seem to like to deal with them. Beware!"

"Safeway will give you cheap insurance to keep you from violating the law by driving without it. That is ALL they are good for. If you're in an accident and you need help, forget it. If your car needs additional repairs, they will do anything to get out of paying full price. They do not answer the phone. When they do, they act like they are doing you a favor by even speaking with you. I'll pay extra to use another company, if for no other reason than to deny Safeway my money. "

"Worst customer service EVER. They are never available, I've left numerous voicemails, no one will call me back, they refuse to let you speak with a supervisor. They estimate for significantly under the body shop, and issue a check for less than what it will cost to repair. They only pay $30 per day (not including taxes, fees, etc.) for a rental car, and they choose how many days they think you'll need the car. This place is AWFUL."

"More than a month after being in an accident with a Safeway insured, they are still dragging their feet and trying to shaft me. The state department of insurance is going to be involved soon if they do not start acting in good faith. Worst experience dealing with a carrier ever."

"I have had a single premium life insurance policy on my daughter with this company for many years. I am trying, and I mean trying, to cash out the policy and give the cash value to my daughter. I have never gotten so many different answers from so many different people at a company on the same question in my life. I sense that they are trying their best not to send me the cash value. I am filing a complaint with the state of Minnesota today."

"After paying a "normal" premium for homeowners insurance for four years and no claims after two hurricanes, this insurance company raised my premium to over $2000.00 from around $700.00 in 2007 because I live in Florida. Customers are last on their priority. PROFIT is their ONLY game."

"This is the worst company i have ever dealt with. i think they should close their doors. Customer service is not their top prority. The only thing they are good at is taking people's money and taking too long to do a simple auto accident. TERRIBLE!!!!"
