"They treat you as a policy number. I was declined a claim after 8 years of business with them. I received significant damage to my business and loss of income after a hurricane this was my first claim ever after 8 years. "

"Having had a recent claim against Travelers which was completed to my full satisfaction my feeling is that it is comforting to have an insurance carrier that handles all the intricate problems associated with the claim with status information and the desire to complete the work satisfactorily for the customer. We need more of this in our lives. "

"Reported a claim and told an adjuster would be out 24 to 48 hours. No adjuster after 50 hours called again and was told 72 hours to we dont know when. A week passes Tuesday received a call that an adjuster would be there this weekend. Called and Email Friday asking when adjuster would be arriving. No knowledge of an adjuster arriving even though I was given an adjusters name and cell number. Received a phone call Sunday afternoon that an adjuster would show up NEXT weekend. How many times will I be Lied to by this Insurance company Will they have an adjuster her 3 weeks after who knows I dont"

"We suffered extensive property damage in our finished basement 2.5 ft. of water due to a sewer back. I clearly identified the source of the flooding during my initial claim call. It took five days for an agent to even contact me. Then I was informed that we were not covered for sewer backups. Oddly enough were covered for fire tree damage loss of power loss of food even hail but not the more common sewer backups I was told that the agent should have mentioned the additional coverage option. She did not and after paying a high premium monthly to Travelers we are astounded and overwhelmed to learn that what may be close to 40000-50000 in property and structural damage are our responsibiliy because an agent failed to do her job and disclose additional coverages offered by Travelers. As a result I am recommending people stay away from Travelers and will change our insurance provider as soon as possible."

"house had water damage from vandilism..took a week for a adjuster to show up only after begging...now the claim was sent to an internal investigator..its been 5weeks now..claims rep never returns my callswhen the claims rep finally answered i was informed that the claim would be reviewed in 3wks...because travelers insurance has sent the claims agent out east due to the tropical storm lrene..did i mention that travelers has notified my morgage co.that they will not renew the policy in nov.2011...i smell deception..what a way to do business...travelers is telling me to hang in there while the mold grows as they investigate the claim..right dont make me laugh"

"I do suspect they did not investigate the claim. I think they paid an extreme amount for very minor damage which would increase the cost of doing business and result in higher rates in order to make a good profit for doing business."

"know yr rights before you file a claim.........very long process After my house set open for 7 weeks after a tree fell on it...had to call adjustors boss to have him sent back out for reinspection. I had bubbling paint in upper rooms....mold Was told not to have a treatment company come in the ceiling could be torn out. I was told all old houses have mold and these companies will say that their is mold when every house has mold. REALLY Needless to say ....I had a mold treatment performed. Would just like to end this process .....5 months in sept 11. I have never had to deal with an insurance company before did not realize how lucky I was......."

"My base rate has gone from 11.99 to 16.40 in 3 years which translates to a premium of 624 in 08 to a re newal now of 1050 a 68 increase in 3 years. My claim in 08 was of the nature that carried no surcharge 68 increase seems excessive especially when I receive no reason other than it happens"

"Run as far as you can from Travelers Home Insurance You are only under their so-called umbrella until you file a claim. An insurance company has the right to deny a claim but it is very unfair to consumer when almighty insurance company deny claims based on disingenuous investigation from a contractor that came across as somebody that got his certificate from an elementary school. I cannot believe it when I saw the reports that Travelers based their reason for denying my claims on. I showed the reports to several people and they all laughed their heads off literally. "

"No one wants to be involved in a traffic accident. Travelers handling of my claim was accomplished with speed professionalism and fairness. Their representative was extremely kind and considerate during each of her calls to me.Im grateful to them for using a claims process that does so much to help their customers deal with the aftermath of an automobile accident."

"Every individual we talked to were professional caring answered any and all concerns returned calls promptly. We happened to have a delay on the vendors part and the Travelers rep. called us to see how things were going when they heard this they made some phone calls and the problem was solved. They kept in touch with us until the job was done."

"Whole neighborhood has had substantial hail damage. As far as I know, I am the only one with Travelers. I have by far the most hail damage, and have been offered the least amount from their insurance. After 2 assessments, seems the payout is STILL less than estimates I am receiving. I am on the homeowners committee. We are having a neighborhood meeting. At that time, we are all comparing rates, policys, coverage and payout for replacement. "

"Online they gave me the cheapest quote. I bought and then they send me a card asking them to call me. I did call and they asked all possible personal information including my parent’s birth date. Then they asked me about my driving history which they already had in front of them. Having at fault accident is already painful enough and having to repeat to prove you are not a liar or what on earth who knows! The worst is yet to come, after they verified everything, they told me I am not eligible to have insurance! "

"Got a speeding ticket in another state over a year ago. Paid ticket and then found out I could have taken course online to get ticket off record. Year later Travelers ups policy about $270 after this one ticket and over a decade of no claims property or auto. Ripoff- no loyalty. "

"My local agent is a lifelong friend and provides the best support of any agent I have ever had. Any claims that have been needed to be made with the company have been handled in the most efficient manner. A most recent claim not only was handled with speed and professionalism, but any and all arrangements were handled entirely by the company and made for a smooth and most convenient process."

"Pipes broke in condo and did damage to other condos and building. It was not the owners fault. Travelers said they would not cover the damages because it was NOT his fault. "NC is a contributory negligence state, and Travelers Ins. Co will try to somehow find you at fault. In the example of myself, they finally found a way to not have to pay me...until you go to court. They really will deny it because they bet you wont take it to court. They are crooks!"

"After my initial talks with Sentinel Casualty Ins I was quoted rate a rare for 2 cars, mine and my college daughter. At the time we discussed my daughter was away at college in Miami. Today I received an increase of $1450 because my daughter had the car at school. Totally unacceptable."

"I have used Travelers for over a decade, beginning with my reckless teenage years. During those early years when my driving record was less than perfect, they were always helpful whenever I had to file a claim. I totaled a car at one point, and while the amount that they initially offered for the vehicle was a little lower than I would have liked, I was able to negotiate a substantially larger sum. Customer service has always been great."

"They have trained their adjusters to figure out how to justify not doing the insurance work. To comeup with issues and questions that make it sound like the work is not needed or the product is on somekind of blacklist. Basically they are frauds."

"This company went way out of their way to not pay a claim. They were very "boys club" oriented and did not like dealing with a woman who had other companies document damage. "Currently in midst of first claim and is being handled exactly as described by many others. Very slow and the adjuster is trying to pay as little as possible. Windows blown out by large hail and winds exceeding 90 mph. CAT adjusters here in area - no money yet after 2 weeks. All neighbors have Farm Bureau and already have their chacks. Never do business with this company! P.S. replacement value coverage means nothing when you file a claim - they still try to settle for 50% - 60% of actual repair bills. Its all about depreciation and ACV (Actual Cash Value)"

"Travelers adjuster came up a total cost of $998 on my wind damage claim , which is used to fix water stains on the ceilings of room. They claimed that the cost of fixing outside roof is not covered. I cancelled my policy with Travelers. never use Travelers anymore"

"They have only one goal....to get out of a claim with as little cost to them as possible and try to talk you into a quick solution. If you do so you come out way behind, if you question them they get a bit nasty but do give you more dollars for your claim. Very deceitful company."

My premium went up by $150 just because of my roommate who has his own vehicle with his own insurance and has nothing to do with driving my automobile. "1.They didnt call me when they said they would. 2.A week went past and they still didnt call 3.When I didnt get an answer 10 days later,I called them.The claims representative told me someone will call me again.They never did. 4.I called them again and spoke to the unit manager who claimed the adjuster called me but i didnt answer my phone.THATS WHEN I KNEW I AM IN THE WORST insurance company. my expectations were not met and i am considering switching to another company. 5.My expectations were as follows. a.someone would call me within 24 hrs. b.they would collect information AND TELL ME HOW LONG IT TAKES to make a decision. c.verify the facts and make a decision. d.i get a call back explaining wheather the claim is denied or accepted."

"This company is a joke. I would never suggest them to a friend. I have been left on hold for over 20 minutes and have waited for 2 weeks for a returned phone call following a house fire which left my kitchen useless. I hope they intend to reimburse us for the over $150 we have spent in Taco Bell for the last 3 weeks!"

"Travelers uses an "Insurance Score" to justify increasing my auto premium. I have had not an accidents or violations in last 5 yrs.I have "never" filed an auto claim and have always had an excellent credit rating. I am penalized because: I have only one mortgage and two retail credit cards which I have not used in 4 & 9 years but they reflect low credit limits; and I made a secured loan at my credit union which was paid off in 3 months and was considered a loan from a consumer finanical company!"

"I purchased a new car Mar 2007 and had an accident on April 2007. My car was totaled.I had only been with travelers for 1 month. I was scared that I would have problems with this claim since I was so new. Two weeks later they had paid off my brand new toyota camry that I wrecked and I was able to go to Toyota and buy the exact car 2 weeks later. Not sure if they recovered money from the driver that hit me but they sure did pay off my car fast and 2 weeks after that I received 146.00 in the mail stating this was left after paying my car off and about 2 weeks after that I received my 500 dedcuctable check. I was so happy. I thought I suppose to pay the deductible but they sent me the check and said they were able to get my deductible.. I did do alot of praying so I am just glad GOD answered my prayers on this one. He is awesome you know !!!!!!"

"DO NOT use Travelers under any circumstances. I was originally very happy with them, as they settled my claim for structural damage to my property. However, they immediately told me they would not insure me any more because I had the gall to actually expect them to uphold their end of the bargain. If you make ANY claims on your insurance with Travelers, they WILL end your coverage. STAY AWAY at ALL costs."

"I was in an accident where I was hit from behind, clearly not my fault. They sent an adjuster out 20 min after the accident to check out the vehicle and they low-balled the estimate by $1500 from what the other insurance would pay me. They raised my rates for the accident even though I was 100% not at fault. horrible company."

"After being with travelers for about 8 years, I had to file three claims within the last 3 years. Because of that, travelers did not want to renew my policy, even though the amount paid in premiums exceeds the amount they paid for damages- none of which are because of anything I did overtly or through negligence. They did settle the claims quickly, though."

"I have been with travelers for over 15 years. Now they are harassing me, why, because I called them about my premium (too high) and since they agreed to reduce by 76$ my premium they have begun harassing me about my property..non stop. I have never filed a claim."

"I initially thought I was getting the best possible home/auto insurance through travelers when I bought my home. Since buying my house, 3 months ago, I have not received any proof of insurance, which may be due to the fact that they canceled my coverage without calling, mailing, or emailing any information due to an error. While this error may get fixed easily, I am so upset with how they handled this I plan to take my business elsewhere. Clearly having me a customer is not worth a letter, phone call or email. "

"I had my home insurance with Travelers for over 12 years without a claim then a hail storm caused damage to my roof. Hundred of my neighbors received new roofs and siding because of the hail damage. They had other insurance providers. Travelers did not pay us for hail damage. Do not buy Travelers Insurance."

"We had two serious hail storms in 2009. All the homes in out area had hail damage to the roof of the houses. The only houses that were denied new roofs were those of us insured by Travelers. I would strongly advise you get our homeowners from a reputable firm. They dismissed our claim out of hand and treated us poorly during the process after being a customer for ten years. "The claims adjuster so rude. They were unpleasant at first, and were not professional when come to visit the claim. Always find reason to not to pay you. They really need to retrain their staff about customer service. To get them to help you with any claims, forget it if they can get around not to help you. They collect your money every month but when it happens to your property then they will find the ways to refuse to pay the damage. "

"For five years, Travelers gladly took my premiums for my new home. However, as soon as I needed to place a claim during Hurricane Ike, they just came to my home and flat our denied any help. They pointed to a little dot of a page so hidden in my policy that they stated would stated would be the reason for the denial of my claim. Which the company never explained to me when I purchased the policy. They made it sound so great, its a trick. When you need the help in such a devastating time, they will leave you with no help."

"Beware of the clause worded PERIL coverage. Meaning if damage to a home is not done by a tornado, earthquake, fire, huricane or any other natural disaster YOU WILL NOT BE COVERED. They required unsupervised access to my house to complete flood repairs, and then did not want to pay $58 to change my locks or reimburse me for loss of use expenses of $200 for temporarily hooking up a new water heater so I could take showers and do laundry. "Kept a clean record for 15 years with insurance on my car, last spring a young police officer pulled me over for not coming to a complete stop as he wanted. I was on my scooter on slippery surface, cited me for no motorcycle endorsement and failure to stop. Insurance not required for this vehicle, so they dump me 6 months later for it. This insurance company has to be the worst I have ever done business with. Keep a perfect record or they will dump you, I would not recommend this company to anyone."

"I hit a deer and had to file a claim. They sent a adjuster out to the shop I picked and all seemed fine.Luckily, the shop owner stands behind his work because the adjuster had him use a few used body parts. The first ones sent to the shop were not in good shape.The body shop sent them back and told the adjuster he would not use them. Long story short they finally received quality parts to finish the job. Next renewal my premium went up $800.00 and has climbed continually. Went Amica for Home and auto and saved over $1000.00."

"my parents business burnt down a few months ago. we had our insurence under Travelers. We were paying for a insured amoutn of $475,000. when the building burnt down they brought in someone from out of state to tell us how much it was worth, they then tried to make us settle for $200,000. that being $275,000 under the price that was agreed. yet did they know we know people that are now helping us get what is rightfully ours. I had never seen my parents cry like this before, day after day and night after night i have to witness my parents crying, and stressed not knowing if they will make it through these hard time. My parents raising 4 children including me have been struggling to keep a roof over our head and food on our plates. I do not know how Travelers sleep at night knowing they could financialy ruin a fam. "Licensed Agent here. Travelers will nickle and dime you on your first party claims. But first they will ignore you until you bring the situation up to management (hoping you will go away). They tried to rip me off for replacement of my TV after a lightning strike. I had the best money could buy in 2000 50 inch Theaterview TV with split screen technology (I could watch 2 full sized stations at once). Cost in 2000 was $3000. Today (2009) they were willing to replace it with a bottom of the line 50 inch TV. The reason they gave is that I had 720p and 1080 is an upgrade. Well no crap!!! You have to search far and wide to find a 720p TV today. Where is my integrated sound system? Where is my split screen technology. Seems that I am not entitled to those features anymore!!! "We had a leak and hail damage to the roof due to storms in 08. I was clueless and had never filed a homeowners claim. Adjuster was here within 48 hours and LEFT the check with us. I was amazed. We of course had already had 3 estimates which the adjuster did not even look at. Yet the check was within $20 of the mid-range estimate. I am paying double what others are in insurance though. "I backed into a car and did very minor damage. I got an estimate that it could be repaired with paintless dent removal for under $200. Instead, Travelers paid to have the car door taken off, repainted, etc. and to have the bumper repaired (not even my fault), costing over $1000. This bumped my premiums up 25%. "I've had renters insurance with Traveler for about 9 years. My apartment was broken into and cameras / lenses and a laptop were stolen. I sent the claim in within two week's of the incident which would have been sooner but it took time to get the police report. After waiting another two-plus weeks, they then tell me they need to send an ivestigator based on the size of the claim (about $7,000). He interview me for about 30 minutes (what I make, what I drive, what was stolen, etc.) This was two weeks ago a have still not gotten any word on the claim, only that the adjuster has to get the final report from the investigator and review it with a supervisor. How long am I supposed to wait? Why did it take two-plus weeks for them to realize that they needed to investigate this? My downstairs neighbor who was also robbed settled with an isurance company I never heard of before I even met with the investigator for almost the same amount I am claiming. It's coming up on two months since being robbed and I want an answer on my claim. I will certainly not renew this policy, if they don't drop me first. To top it off, I purchased the insurance through a close friend and when he submitted the original claim mentioned to the adjusted that I was a personal friend. So much for that. DON'T GET TRAVELERS!"

"I had my pipes burst this winter, leaving me with no heat and no water. Travelers took their sweet old time to even start paying, demanding ridiculous amounts of paperwork, above and beyond what was necessary to provide them all necessary information. My adjuster failed to tell me they needed papers from me up front, I think, just to delay the process further. Then my adjuster would not call me or return my emails, his supervisor wouldn't return my calls, even their supervisor never returned my calls. When I questioned why the process was taking so long, my adjuster had the nerve to complain about how he was too busy and wasn't even working on my claim yet. It took them over 2 months to pay, this being a very cold winter, led to my boiler freezing, after not being on for over 2 months. Then they had a whole other long process to get me that money. I'm still waiting for a portion of the payout, and now they're harassing me as to why the repairs aren't done yet. They demanded to reinspect the house, and are now demanding that all repairs be done in the next 3 months. I work 6 days a week, the repairs have been slow coming. And the fact that I don't yet have all the money they said they'd give, puts the financial burden on me. I hate Travelers and am currently looking to change insurers. That's how badly they've treated me and my claim."

"i'm in the middle of a claim with this company. i was struck by another driver in a rear end collision. the other driver has been so far been determined at fault. i have whiplash injuries that have resulted in painful spinal defects, and am still undergoing treatment. it's been almost 2 months since the accident happened. i've found my adjusters to be for the most part extremely slow to respond, or in several situations grossly incompetent. they 'loose' medical forms and act like they don't have my doctors info, when i've provided it multiple times, via faxes, phone calls, and direct calls to agents. despite having whiplash, when i did not show enough improvement in a short enough time span, i was threated by being told i would have to see 'their' doctor. i've been told this is often a ploy to say that you are 'all better' even when you are far from it. i pay my premiums, and have a home insurance policy with this company, in addition to my car insurance. i have not felt supported or helped at all. i've had to hire a lawyer because i felt that i was being ignored and treated llke a pest, instead of being helped. my car still isn't fixed, and worse still any time i call them they either take the better part of week to get back to me, and then sometimes not at all. this treatment has continued even after getting a lawyer and speaking to a direct supervisor at branch who provides my policy. they are terrible. do not go with this company. i've definitely decided to get insurance elsewhere as soon as i can do the research needed to ensure i don't get another dud. "

"They overcharged me $375 on a full upfront payment for auto insurance, and took 11 months to send me a check for the difference (got it 2 weeks before my policy expired). I went to another provider, who sent Travelers the appropriate form (2A) to cancel my policy with them. Travelers disregarded this and is still tying to bill me, currently I have been canceled for "non-payment", which will probably show up on my credit report as well. "When Hurricane Ike came through St. Louis MO, last October, we recorded over four inches of rainfall in just one of the over five hours of hard, wind blown rainfall. Water cascaded over our gutter on the west exposure. It ran down the outside brick wall surface below the gutter and leaked through a hole in the mortar joint a foot above ground level. The rainwater ran through the wall four inches above the foundation and came down the inside foudation wall, across the carpeted area of basement, ruining the carpet, pad and installation work. We immediately removed the soaked carpet to prevent mold formation. The next day we called our broker and got the adjuster's number; called and she said they had many claims to examine and could I send in photos/email. I did this thinking it was a routine claim and would be covered since ground water was not the cause. The claim was denied offhand, without adjuster inspection. Then our broker came to examine the problem and appealed to Travelers to reconsider because "ground water" in the exclusion rider was not the cause of damage. A week or so after this they finally sent an adjuster who seemed satisfied that the water did not come from the ground or after ground contact, or through the foundation or sewer. After a week the adjuster called to tell me they would still deny the claim and would send a letter to that end. What more can one say about the absent quality. reliability and integrity of Travelers."

"We had a fire in our boat's engine room. Travelers offered us 50c on the dollar since they wanted us to use a repairer they chose. "I had a boiler fire. I saved the house from burning done but they wouldn't give the cost to replace it minus the deductible. I had to hire a private adjuster for an extra lousy $1500 bucks. "This company denied our claim for hail damage. In late summer 2008, there was a hail damage storm and our roof was hit. About 90% of the people in our neighborhood received new roofs from the damage. We contacted the Travelers agent and he stated that we ha no damage and that we had dents on the covers to the fireplace... We requested that they come out again to look at the roof because everyone in our neighborhood had roof damage. The agent made it seem like we were making the damage up and stated that pictures were taken from the initial inspection. The agent made reference to the age of the roof, the roof is extremely old and does need replaced. Regardless of the age of the roof, if we have insurance coverage and we have hail damage we should get the roof covered, no matter how old the roof is. In addition, our roof has little tree coverage compared to the other neighbors that received new roofs. The second agent came out with an expert and they stated that we only had one hit every so many square feet and that it did not justify a new roof. Through out this entire process we had heard stories about Travelers and how they denied claims. Thanks Travelers... Nice to know that we can count on our insurance company when we need it..... We will switch and do better research the next time we purchase home owners insurance. This was just one issue, we even had problems with setting up the account... I guess we should have know better. "

"First Adjuster Came to look at my foor without a ladder, or measuring tape, and a disposable camera. Did not know anything about roofing. Missed alot of damages to property. They issued a check, the damages were extensive to the property, It has been 3 months and no matter how many times I call and leave a message on voice mail no one will return my calls."

"I have had Travelers Auto and Home insurance for over 21 years. I had a $100 deductible on the home insurance and after 20 years of no claims I had 3 paid claims in 2007 for just over $1,200 paid. I also had water damage from a deck that was apparently connected to the home wrong. The deck was on the home when I bought it. The adjuster said that is not their problem. Now I have received a non renewal letter from Travelers. Because of the 3 claims they paid in 2007 I cannot get home insurance and may have to go in the State Insurance Program. All the agents I have contacted get on the computer and share notes with each other. I now have to secure insurance before mid October or the mortgage company will take the home. The insurance industry is ripe with corruption and greed."

"I have a homeowner's policy with this company to cover a condo. My upstairs neighbor had a fire causing extensive water damage to my unit. Travelers was very quick to cover a few small loss items like refrigerator spoilage and four hotel nights, but they were completely unwilling to deal with loss of use issues. We were out of the unit for two and half months while the unit was re-drywalled. Travelers will not make good on alternate living arrangements for this two and a half month period. Two and a half months of mortgage payments was by far the bulk of my claim. If you need an insurance policy to check off a box, this is probably a good choice. If you ever think you will need to file a claim, I would avoid Travelers like the plague."

"I had hail damage 5/31/2008. The first adjuster said that they could only replace half of my roof. All my neighbors that surround me had their entire roof replaced with in three weeks. I am still trying to deal with them but they are impossible. In fact after the adjuster re-inspected he stated that he is not sure why the first adjuster said there was damage. We had golf ball sized hail!! Give me a break. Anyone considering Travels look some where else as when you need them most they will turn their backs on you. Customer service??? What customer service. They are the worst company I have ever dealt with."

"Rude, stupid employees. They will not clearly answer any questions at all. I am moving and I have had to call twice to find that my husband has to be physically present to give verbal agreement to make policy changes since he is listed on the policy. One girl had to transfer me to someone "licensed" because she was unable to update policies while the "licensed" person told me that he could not help me and I should call back. "

"Not supportive at all when it comes down to filing a claim. They would rather accuse you indirectly of filing a faulty claim and try to disprove you rather than to be there when you need them. If it wasn't for the evidence I provided proving the claim to be legitimate there is no doubt in my mind I would have been denied. I do not recommend."

"The roof of my home was damaged in the March, 2008 tornadoes that hit the Atlanta areas. My roof (cedar shake) was destroyed to the point of no repair. Travelers refused to replace - I contacted 8 established roofers and could not get a quote to repair from any of them. None would do it with any warranty at all. I got quotes to replace, the least expensive was $10,575 for a shingle roof. The least expensive quote for cedar shake roof, which I had was, $23,000. My policy carries replacement coverage. They refused to pay for any type of replacement and sent me a check for $2,200, saying the roof could be 'patched'(their word) which I have not cashed. Their treatment was not even courteous, let alone helpful. After waiting and doing everything in my power to deal with the Traveler Claims Office in Alpharetta, GA and being stonewalled from every angle, I had the roof replaced to mitigate any further damage to my home from leaks, etc, with less expensive roof. They kept telling me they would send out a readjuster three times and then, finally, said they were not. I have heard of other homeowners in this area who have received treatment almost 'chapter and verse' to same as my situation. Calls were not returned and no one I spoke with would tell me the name of the Home Office Claims Manager nor phone number. To say the least, this has been the most stressful and frustrating experience I have ever had with any business of any kind. Another home in my small subdivision had damage to her roof. Her roof was 21 years old, mine 10 years old and her damage was not as bad as mine. Her carrier (State Farm) covered her total expense to replace her roof. Travelers had kept telling me one of the reasons they declined coverage was that my roof was so old and there were some knot holes in some of the shingles. I would never recommend Travelers Insurance Company to anyone. They are the worst."

"A pipe burst releasing 36 gallons of water. A plumber fixed the pipe and another company dried out the walls. About 36 sqare feet of wallboard needed replacing and painting etc. Travelers combed my policy until they found a reason to deny coverage. They were rude and unprofessional. This claim is active as of May 2008 and I surmise this will be a long battle. The amount of money is minimal for the claim compared to what I have paid in premiums AND I am doing all of the repair work myself. The people I dealt with at Travelers were either rude, deceitful or underqualified. Horrible company."

"Had kitchen fire in January 08. It is now May 08 and still not in house. Whole experience is a nightmare. We have had to move 4 times. Company is unresponsive. To top it off while in the midst of the claim and still displaced we get a letter from the company informing us that they would be dropping us. What poor customer service. 8 years as client only one claim and dropped. I will be writing letter to company and informing them that I will tell everyone I meet NEVER to deal with this company. Totally stressed out for 5 months. There is not enough space to describe the horror. However I have to mention a few of the crazy situations. 1. The temporary housing company is trying to sue us because Travelers would not pay them the deposit on the home that was found for us. 2. The temp house we were placed in did not have adequate hot water for 2 1/2 weeks. When we finally decided to leave the landlord threatened to sue us for breach of contract and would not return the deposit. 3. Travelers would not pay for the utilities in the temp house. Now they have added the cost to our damaged house and are threatening to turn utilities off. It goes on and on. Somebody wake me up. NEVER GET TRAVELERS!!!!!!!"

"GEICO (auto) and TRAVELERS (home) are tied together at the hip. GEICO auto insurance has been good. I have only had 1 accident in the 18 years I've been with them but I like them. I have had TRAVELERS home insurance for 13 years and just assumed that I was getting as good a deal as with my auto policy. "NOT-SO"... "My 19 year old daughter was victim to a hit and run accident that totalled her car. Travelers issued us a settlement check for our car in less than one week so that we could purchase a replacement vehicle. Not only were we pleased with the quick response, but we were satisfied with the amount of the settlement. Thanks to witnesses and travelers persistance, six weeks later the other vehicle was found and a claim against the driver is in subrogation. "

"Their process of paying claims is horrible and they take forever to make a decision, and seem to find reasons as to why they should not pay. They completely under assessed my damages and did not pay the value of the original assessed amount. I would not recommend Travelers to anyone. As a homeowner, you pay annual premiums and in most cases never have to file a claim. But, in the unfortunate event you experience a loss, you should not have to experience unnecessary delays and undue hardship in trying to do so. This has been my expeience. "

"My daughter was hit head on, with witnesses proving it is not her fault. My own insurance is treating us like we have the plague. The car was 6 weeks old with 1000 miles, they are offering trade in value and want me to provide all back up for them. "After 9 years with State Farm I was wooed into a change after gettig a great quote from Geico who parteners with Travelers in PA for Homeowners. two months into this Travelers sends a Cancellation notice because the condition of my home was so poor - they said vegitation growing on the roof and missing handrails on a deck. Interestingly, it was just appraised by a LICENSED PROFESSIONAL and deemed in excellent condition. We had 2 contractors come in the spring (07) to look at the roof and BOTH said it has 5 to 7 years left. Travelers is extremely unprofessional and i hope everyone does what they can to ge tthe word out. now i have to deal with getting a new insurer anad having to explain a cancellation. Shame on them. "

"The one claim we reported was handled fine. Our problem occurred when we dropped a vehicle and added a another one. I received the statement with the policy change 2 weeks before the next draft from the bank and the monthly rate increased $260. I shopped around and found a less expensive company, went to my agent and canceled travelers. Travelers sent me a $358 refund and then a $692 bill that I still am trying to talk with the company and understand why. I have called, wrote letters, emailed, and still have not talked with anyone. My agent gave me a number to call but it's automated but it is automated and when I enter the account number I am given another number to call which appears to be fax machine. "

"We had our home broken into on Sept 13th 2007 and it is now October 27th 2007 and we are not even half way through with anything to do with it. There are a lot of things missing from our family. My son's whole room was cleaned out of over $10,000.00 worth of video game items. He had multiple systems and games. He is heart broken and asks all the time when he can get his stuff back or replacement and now all I can tall him is WHO THE HECK KNOWS. I also have conveyed to my adjuster and anyone else I have complained to that I take two online college courses and we have no computer now in our home and it is effecting my school work and very hard to find somewhere and go and do it, I really get no response from my claims handler, no I'm sorry how long this is taking but.....just a really no answer and she was passing the delay onto the investigater not getting the rpt to her and her hand out ties, I NEED TO TALK TO HIM, well he handed his report in and called and called Andi and no call back. Finallly get a call back and she says were still investigating and I answered Mike said his report is in to you and how long can this take, she pretty much told me as long as they need or in my opinion WANT IT TO. She also told me NOT TO CALL HER, what kind of place that you pay money to for business says don't call me and that she would call me whenever she gets everything done, what a crock of sh&^+&!* So now we are supposed to wait until Andi and this is being handled by a brank in Naperville IL to finish this but I get no updates on what is going on. NOT ONE TIME was I told I am so sorry for your loss and we are trying to get things together, JUST VERY RUDE! My whole family feels like we are being victimized again! As soon as this yearly contract is up WE ARE RUNNING FROM TRAVELERS. I went with them because they were cheaper and I never had to deal with ins claims for the most part so didn't think anything of it. People do your research online here and see what people are saying before you sign with a C. because of the price. This whole this has SO NOT BEEN WORTH ANY SAVINGS I HAVE HAD. Also they sure are quick to withdrawl my money on the exact day every month but once their customers need help, they could care less. I've been treated better when being pulled over for speeding from a police officer. I firmly believe that they practice BAD FAITH INSURANCE BIG TIME. As from what I have dealt with so far I plan on complaining and spreading the word on these snakes as much as possible, unless for some reason there's a mircle nice and caring person that actually works at travelers....lol Also I called there 1800 line to complain multiple times, those are the only nice people I get on the phone but they can't do anything except transfer me to Andi my claims handler and that's it. By the way, the 1800 employee told me that basically that get calls like this ALL THE TIME, COMPLAINTS ON CLAIMS being handled slowly. This company makes so much money and so quick to take your money but once in trouble pretty much screw you and they don't wan't to part with any money. I am so stressed out over all this and how hard school classes and whatnot with my family that I am actually losing sleep and weight and unhealthy. If things don't move somewhere soon I will file a complaint with the IN insurance board on them and will probably have to look into an attorney, but hay what they hell does Travelers care if you get an attorney any money they spend on them is a drop in the bucket to the millions they have and the longer they get to hold onto replacement claim money that THEY OWE MY FAMILY. Shame on you Travelers, if you work there I would be embarrassed to tell people!!!"

"A blessing...we found out about the company practices on our first claim, a small one. Roof hail damage. 1st they lost the claim. 2nd gave us half a roof, the only one like that within all the houses around us. 3rd of the 4 houses next to us that I talked to the owners, 3 had gutter damage(guess we had uber gutters. 4th the payment was half what the 6 houses next to us received (generalizing that all other house roofs could not be 1/2 ours.) 5th payment was very slow. We didn't ask for peripherial compensation, like the outdoor furniture covers that were destroyed. Just a roof. So atleast it was a large disaster. We can take our money to another company. Thank goodness"

"The rates I have been paying the past years were higher then other people I spoke to. I recently got a lower quote from a competitor which was much lower. I thought the rates were higher because I live near Washington,DC. I asked Travelers if they could be more competitive to keep my business. They told about a program called Quantum. "My place of employment carried Travelers Ins. When I was injured at work, and had to use these services it has been, and continues to be a nightmare. Getting doctors, surgeries, physical therapy, and on going treatments has been an obstacle since day one. It seems that Travelers goes out of its way to make these necessary treatments very hard to accomplish, and cares very little about the patients health and well being. It has added a great deal of stress to my already stressful situation. I am beside myself, and very worried about my long term care due to Travelers negligent behavior when dealing with these approvals of treatments. When contacting staff for help, you get pushed to the side, when you do actually speak with adjusters, they are rude, and do little to solve your problem with their own handling of business. It is a vicious circle. A permanent report has been issued where as 7 different doctors and specialists (and many CT, MRI, and neurological tests have been done to back this report), and surgeons have been consulted, and still Travelers is denying the report wanting me to be seen by one of their IMC, while neglecting my ordered care in the mean time. I am very upset, and worried for my future care. I wish there was a penalty Travelers had to own up to for the negligence to my needed care. "

"I signed with Travelers through a broker because of the low premiums. Now after 11 months they send me a letter stating that they will not be renewing my homeowners, citing that I do not have railing on my front poarch. They never informed me that I had to have the railing for this policy, and there is no code for it in my county. The least they could have done would be to allow me some time to comply; but NO!! I will be canceling all of my policies with this FINE company."
