Company History:
In 1958 Louis Foster founded 21st Century Insurance. AIG purchased the company in 2005 and in 2009 sold it to Farmers Insurance Group of Companies. Now, 21st Century Insurance has approximately 2,900 employees and has been awarded the Market Tools Consumer SatTM Achievement in Customer Excellence (ACE) 5 different times. "Twice I was rear-ended, totally bot vehicles. Both times I had to go to court. 1st time was hit by a by another Farmers insured person. Didn't get much for totaled car. You would think insured person would pay for my rental car since they left me wo a car. Never happened. It's hard to buy a car wo any way to get there to see it... I got 1,200 for whiplash and back injuries. Then 3 years later I was hit from behind in a hit and run driver going 55mph. Totaled car again and ldo destroyed my back. In arbitration right now, they are denying the claim because of pre existing conditions. I've been in tx for 3 years and they want to pay for 12 weeks. I couldn't clean my house post accident at 12 weeks. Of course after 1st wreck, I made sure to add rental car on policy, they left me stranded wo a vehicle for 2.5 months claiming I did not have the coverage. Customer service is horrible. Dealing with insurance was worse than both accidents. Wish me luck on fighting the arbitration. Note 21st Century now Farmers. There is better insurers out there, ones that do their business, it's not 21st Century or Farmers."

"My car was in a front end crash. The primary body work was done well. There were remaining items such as 1 of the daytime running lights not working. The sunroof vanity panel spring holder broke and springs rolled around the headliner. The drivers door cracked in the wreck. They refused to repair these others items including the safety risk of the daytime running lights. If you want complete coverage that is real I do not recommend State Farm. You will be disappointed.>"

"Stay away from 21st century. I had a 5 car policy with them for over 10 years. So plenty of experience with them. I'm really happy to be done with them. As a preface I will point out that I was the perfect customer for an insurance company. Never filed an insurance claim in my life. Never been in an accident. Haven't had a moving violation since 1983. And have never been late on a payment to them or anybody else in my entire life. So how could I have such a distaste for them? Well I can't count on all my fingers and toes the number of hours I have spent on the phone and at the computer ironing out all of the mistakes they make. And if you think dealing with outsourced customer service reps is a debacle just wit till you have to deal with this company. The final straw was when they credited a partial 6 month payment back to my credit card with no explanation. When I called them they told me they were canceling my policy. They hadn't even notified me. When I called to ask why they said they have new underwriting guidelines and my motor home doesn't meet the new guidelines. They told me that I would have to provide proof that I have insured the motorhome with another company or proof that I have sold it before they would reinstate my policy. I couldn't believe it And with no notice I'd had that motorhome insured with them for over a decade and spent well over 20000 with them and never filed a claim or had an accident or citation and never a late payment. So here is the final straw but typical of what you can expect from them. Now they are billing me a 50 policy cancelation fee. "
