"Twice I was rear-ended, totally bot vehicles. Both times I had to go to court. 1st time was hit by a by another Farmers insured person. Didn't get much for totaled car. You would think insured person would pay for my rental car since they left me wo a car. Never happened. It's hard to buy a car wo any way to get there to see it... I got 1,200 for whiplash and back injuries. Then 3 years later I was hit from behind in a hit and run driver going 55mph. Totaled car again and ldo destroyed my back. In arbitration right now, they are denying the claim because of pre existing conditions. I've been in tx for 3 years and they want to pay for 12 weeks. I couldn't clean my house post accident at 12 weeks. Of course after 1st wreck, I made sure to add rental car on policy, they left me stranded wo a vehicle for 2.5 months claiming I did not have the coverage. Customer service is horrible. Dealing with insurance was worse than both accidents. Wish me luck on fighting the arbitration. Note 21st Century now Farmers. There is better insurers out there, ones that do their business, it's not 21st Century or Farmers."

"My car was in a front end crash. The primary body work was done well. There were remaining items such as 1 of the daytime running lights not working. The sunroof vanity panel spring holder broke and springs rolled around the headliner. The drivers door cracked in the wreck. They refused to repair these others items including the safety risk of the daytime running lights. If you want complete coverage that is real I do not recommend State Farm. You will be disappointed.>"

"Stay away from 21st century. I had a 5 car policy with them for over 10 years. So plenty of experience with them. I'm really happy to be done with them. As a preface I will point out that I was the perfect customer for an insurance company. Never filed an insurance claim in my life. Never been in an accident. Haven't had a moving violation since 1983. And have never been late on a payment to them or anybody else in my entire life. So how could I have such a distaste for them? Well I can't count on all my fingers and toes the number of hours I have spent on the phone and at the computer ironing out all of the mistakes they make. And if you think dealing with outsourced customer service reps is a debacle just wit till you have to deal with this company. The final straw was when they credited a partial 6 month payment back to my credit card with no explanation. When I called them they told me they were canceling my policy. They hadn't even notified me. When I called to ask why they said they have new underwriting guidelines and my motor home doesn't meet the new guidelines. They told me that I would have to provide proof that I have insured the motorhome with another company or proof that I have sold it before they would reinstate my policy. I couldn't believe it And with no notice I'd had that motorhome insured with them for over a decade and spent well over 20000 with them and never filed a claim or had an accident or citation and never a late payment. So here is the final straw but typical of what you can expect from them. Now they are billing me a 50 policy cancelation fee. "

"I was hit from behind at a red light. 21st century took car of my car I had to rent a car they took care of thathad rental car on my ins. Well worth the extra 5 dollars.I did have to pay my deductible but 21st century settled with the other company because was their fault and not only did they get reimbursed but I got my 500 back. They also covered both our vehicles during hurricane Ike. Paid out over 30000 and didn't even raise our rates. Great Company"

"First of all this company will not insure you the same day. They will not tell you this. So once you pay your premium find out that you are not insured you try and cancel. Well this will take multiple phone calls. Then you will want a refund. This will take many many more phone calls and talks with supervisors. Then one day several weeks later you get a refund.....a partial refund. basically they charge you fees for never being insured in the first place. So then you make several more calls and you wait and finally you might get the remainer of what they own you in a few months...maybe. They are a joke. Imagine if you needed to place a claim"

"The reason I am currently dissatisfied is that they homeowners insurance premium is being raised from 479 to 819 and I have not made any claims. I feel this is due to others having roofs replaced and my premium going up to pay for that. Additionally the deductible on hail damage has increased to 2500 so though I have not followed the trend to replace my roof just because others have I am being punished twofold should my roof have issues in the future."

"Cannot recommend this company. Their claims servicing is very unfair. One miniscule claim in about 7 years and we got the shaft.Goodbye 21st Century."

"A woman in a car at an intersection made a left hand turn just in front of my daughter who was bicycling through the intersection. Witnesses saw this woman hit my daughter and it was determined that this woman was completely responsible for the accident. Our insurance company Twenty-First Century was supposed to cover the excessive costs of the accident. We had to take Twenty-First Century to court to cover all her medical and other costs. They were horrible in working with our lawyer."

"They gave us a fast, low rate when we needed one in order to purchase our first car. Within 6 months the rate increased because the amount of miles we were driving was slightly (1-2k) over the minimum amount. Costs about $500 bucks for 6 months of comprehensive coverage and goes up the more you drive."

"21st Century Insurace used to be a reliable company with good claims service. They were bought out by AIG the sold to Farmers. I guess there is no one there who cares about providing good service anymore."

"Had insurance since 1993 with this company. Very satisfied until this past year. I Moved to another state and they no longer recognize me as a long term customer. I am now new since I changed states. Very unsatisfied with 21 st Century (AIG). Was paying $175 for 4 months and then 2 months off in CA for 6 months of coverage. Now in Texas I pay $193 a month every month for the same coverage. Ridiculous! My insurance went up close to $500. They are now a different company from what I have had in the past. I refuse to talk with another rude customer service agent from this company. They need to switch to decaf!"

"Unless you claim an accident, it is very hard to reach their customer services by phone. Their representatives are not very helpful. No good advice is given. For a claim, they recommended you bad repair stores. Do not use them!"

"Police report stated undetermined. Discrepancies in statements. 21st Century adjusts claim in favor of other party and treats their policyholder like the enemy. They did not represent me AT ALL and further referred to a body shop that returned my car without a sunroof. 21st century told me the car must not have had a sunroof. The way 21st Century handles claims actually puts its insureds at risk for additional liability. "

"The company rejected to renew my policy just because I met with no fault accident ( deer hit). I have paid more in premiums than what the company paid me claim. Very unfair."

"Prices have gone sky high with no claims. Current homeowners renewal quote went up almost 50%. Auto insurance no longer competitive even though I have not tickets or accidents in over 30 years. "

"Pricing is getting excessive with current renewal increase of about 13%, I am currently shopping for another insurer"

"I have had 21st century (now AIG) for 15 years. never gave me any problems with the few claims that I have. Forgave me for an accident. when me and another person were 50% at fault, normally we would each have to pay our deductible, but since we were both with 21st century, they waived the deductible. Only thing I will point out is their rates are not very competitive."

"They raised my rate for no reason (11%). I called to find out why and they blamed it on the state insurance commission. I called them and they said that they had to give me more of an explanation than that. I decided to not deal with the stress and just check the rates of other companies. I had done this a few months ago and wasn't able to find a better rate. This was before the news. I found that I could get insurance for cheaper than my original rate before the increase. So thank you AIG; I mean 21st Century. What will you change your name to the next time you need to screw over the taxpayers for a party or ceo bonuses?! "

"I've been with 21st for 2 years now and most recently they actually lowered my premium by several hundred dollars without me even asking them! I thought I had a good rate before, but now it's even better! It was probably because I turned 25, and haven't even had a speeding ticket in years and years. If your rate is high it's probably because you're a bad driver and you deserve to pay more, people on here need to stop whining."

"These criminals withdrew almost $3000 from my bank account even after I canceled my policy in writing one week before the renewal date. The reason that they ignored my request was because, according to their own explanation, that they could not reach me to confirm the cancellation!!! Now they can not refund my money right away because they need to wait until the ACH transfer is cleared. It will take two weeks. Their service is bad but their billing practice is criminal!"

"They raised my rates about $300 without notice and for no reason. I talked to person who says it's all Florida's fault that they had to raise their prices. I know we just bailed AIG out with billions and now they are asking me for more money. Isn't that a little ridiculous? I haven't had an accident nor any claim in the 2.5 years I have been with them."

"I was with 21st Century from 2005-2008. In that time, I unfortunately had to make four claims, most of them minor, which they handled well. My rates went up about 50%, partly because I moved to a different city with a higher crime rate, but they remained lower than competitors. The reason why I didn't renew is because they refused to provide me with homeowner's insurance due to the SIZE of the property. 652 sf apparently is not enough for them.. they did not consider anything else. So I switched to a company that would not be arbitrary so I could receive a multi-line discount, Amica. Have found their service to be much superior."

"Like others have mentioned, AIG just bought out 21st and now they suck! I have been with 21st for 13 years! They used to be great, claims were fantastic as was customer service. Not anymore, they raised my rates with no notice and took the unauthorized chunk of money out of my checking account. They are now telling me that I "can't get that money back". They also made another major mistake a week ago and cancelled my SR-22 by "accident" which almost caused my license to be suspended and was a big time waster in the middle of my busy work week. I have never paid late and this is the treatment I get. A supervisor told me that he would contact me within an hour to make things right, that never happened and it's obvious to me that client retention isn't at the top of the AIG list. I'm searching for other options as we speak. 21st was good until they became AIG. "

"This company was recently bought by AIG upon the end of the purchase my rate went up $250 every six months(and the service sucks i think they must be out sourcing customer service to prisoners). I have been with this company since 1996 and i am paying more now then when i was a teenager and have had no change in my driving record during that time needless to say i will not be renewing. If you can't take care of the customer base that you have how do you expect to take care of the new ones??? There are only so many people that you can screw over before you just end up out of business."
