Physicians Mutual Reviews and Customer Comments

"Physicians Mutual Insurance customer service isn't...it is indifferent, inept, unskilled, innocently or intentionally. I've searched the web and read other reviews of Physicians Mutual and found obstructive and dilatory practices on claims payments. My complaint is simply being unable to get a written response from my agent and then, escalated to his supervisor, unable to get a written response from him agents and employees seem unwilling or unable to compose a standard business letter. This inability or inept approach to customer service persisted over a period of years. I'd summarize their service or lack thereof as institutional indifference combined with a lack of familiarity with the truth mixed together with incompetence, untrue, deceptive statements and practices seemingly designed to mislead or delay either intentionally or innocently. I'm cancelling my insurance and finding a more ethical and competent insurer. Are there any While other insurance companies may stab you in the back, Physicians Mutual simply ignores you. I have no claim issues. I'm not a disgruntled insured. I simply wanted answers under contract to be provided in writing, I never expected to be ignored. I'm a simple customer with a simple problem that Physicians Mutual has ignored, and practiced indifference and indolence. Tip for consumers Stay away from Physicians Mutual - no service, bad service or inept, unskilled or dismissive, indifferent service"

"As Conservator for my mother and legal representative for my parents estate, attempting to collect on a small life insurance policy from Physicians Mutual was exhausting. Its as if the company is setup to intentionally stonewall the claims process. After being required to physically mail every document, which I did several weeks ago, I had to call and threaten with a lawsuit today and they are just now promising to mail the check. In stark contrast, Mutual of Omaha was streamlined in such a way that made the process effortless and timely. They didnt even require a death certificate because they were able to pull my fathers obituary as I spoke on the phone with them. They also allowed electronic copies of the Conservatorship documents to suffice. Payout was immediate. I would never recommend Physicians Mutual Life Insurance to anyone, for any reason or under any circumstances. Managing an estate has enough challenges without needless others being added."

"My aunt, always a single woman died at 91. Barriers were in the form of paperwork and legal documents that were redundant and time-consuming. The insurance was reduced because in her last years she stopped paying. Even with a will filled with the county and state and a court order confirming her assigned executor we had a difficult time obtaining payout from the company. They were by far the most difficult to work with of the three life insurance companies she had policies with. When they finally paid on the policy we were surprised when six months later we received notice of unclaimed funds from the company. Again we submitted paperwork and later received about 58.00 remaining to be paid on the policy. All it said on the check stub waspayment refund to estate with her name misspelled. I would never do business with this company and advise simply putting your equivalent payments in a FDIC insured savings account."

"Physician Mutual send out letters too often, trying to get me to increase my coverage They always saying, Do to the rise in funeral costs and credit card debts, I have been pre-approved for additional coverage I'm a senior citizen on a fixed budget. I can't afford to purchase more coverage this time. Nevertheless It this doesn't matter to the insurance hungry giants The letters keep on showing up in my mailbox, asking me to get more coverage. Harassment, is a better word."

"Does Physician's Mutual have their agents and employees blow up this page with reviews to make them look better Physician's Mutual rates on Medicare Supplements are outrageously priced. I am switching to another company that offers an identical plan 50 a month less than Physician's. Do not do business with this company - they rip off seniors"
