Company History: Columbian Life's parent company, Columbian Mutual Life Insurance Company, was founded in 1882. Between 1970 and 1990 is expanded to all 50 states. In 2006 Columbian merged with Philantropic Mutual Life Insurance Company and gained the National Safety Life Insurance Company as a subsidiary. In 2011 Columbian merged with Unity Mutual Life Insurance Company to form Columbian Mutual Life. Now that combined company holds more than $1.4 billion in assets.
