"The only thing that Horizon cares about is you money. Forget the fact that you have a pre existing condition or the fact that you need medications they won't ever get back to you if you call and they're never available through the chat."

"Worst customer serivce bar none Any phone call will take at least 30 minutes, usually 45. Reps are not familiar with policies or basic medical terminology. One asked me if xrays are radiology and then transfered me to the groupa outside company that approves MRI's. Today I was asked what physical therapy is. After explaining it three times the rep asked if it was the mental therapy covered in the policy. That would be behavioral health in Horizon language. It never takes less than three calls to find out how something will be covered and you will often get a different answer all three times. I always call until I get at least two people to give me the same answer and then get their names and an authorization or confirmation number. I learned this trick from the hospital, who told me the information will come in handy in the event of a dispute. The phone tree is endless and the options are not designed to quickly or efficiently get you to someone who can help you. Information you are given on the phone often differs from that in the policy documents and this will usually be explained by saying your policy documents are old. When you look at your documents you will see they have a current date and the rep will then be at a loss on how to proceed. Talking to a supervisor will not help. They will not know any more than the person you initally spoke with and waiting for them will add at least 30 minutes to the length of your call. Basically the idea seems to be to give you as little information as possible and to make it as difficult as they can for you to get it."

"Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield is a serial offender in terms of abusing customers, particularly those sold at high-cost to individuals on Obamacare plans. To date, providers in-network have been routinely stiffed payments, treatment and medication for preexisting conditions that are supposed to be covered are not compensated, and customer service follow-up is non-existent. Despite paying over 1000 per month, I'm left to fight and beg for everything. On top of this, this miserable company funnels a significant amount of call center jobs to the Philippines. So along with ripping New Jerseyans off with substandard health coverage, they can't even keep jobs in the state. Horizon Blue Cross should be litigated against and put out of business"

"Worst customer service department of any company I have EVER dealt with. Complete lack of knowledge, and mostly rude individuals who have no idea as to what their doing. The company has system access issues, and when you call and complain, they deny it. Make system changes new payment system and don't tell anyone. Overall, worst company in the industry."
