Blue Cross Blue Shield Reviews and Customer Comments

"I was just reading a lot of negative comments, but we have only had very positive dealings with Blue Cross Blue Shield here in CA. My husband just recently was diagnosed with cancer and the insurance company has dealt with everything. Very happy with them. Just the other day we were waiting for an urgent request for a shot for his low white blood count and a representative called us herself to say it had cleared and she'd spent a good part of the day working on it. We were very impressed"

"On your website it states, ... a health insurance policy can be canceled rescinded if there are material omissions or misrepresentations made by the insured or member in the application for health insurance coverage. What is the insurance company cancelled an insured person because someone else told the insurance company the insured had moved out of he county and gave an incorrect phone no and address. This is what happened to me Someone use my name but at the wrong address and wrong phone no. I only found out about it because I did not get an insurance card in 2020 and called to find out what happened. The first rep I spoke with said I had moved so I was cancelled. I told her I had not moved and had no clue I was cancelled. The situation was eventually resolved and I have my insurance back un-ininterrupted. What bothers me is the non transparency of my blue cross company. I wanted to know how this happened. Was it a human error what is fraud Was it a hacker Could this happen to someone else -something I would not want to have happened to anyone Would I have been covered in an emergency The representatives are non-transparent and will not divulge any information. Now my BCBS company had decided to have a new policy. When I questioned why the new card I received said it was good as of 2019 but not updated to 2020, I was then told about the new policy that if the policy is in effect, they will date it back and not issue a new BCBS ID card every year. I asked why no rep said anything about this to me in previous discourse No answer. .Now as of a day or two ago, I found out there is a mention of this when one calls up and chooses to reach the card division. But, if one does not go to that department, there is not a mention about this. In that case without a new card every year, how would someone know it their policy had been cancelled In my case I got no notification because the company had a false address and phone no for me and made no effort to find out if it was really me who had called and said I moved. They usually ask me for my address and birthdate and card number. Did the person who call have all that information This may not happen often, but considering how much dishonesty is in society today, it is not out of the question that it could happen to someone else or even me again. When my policy was canceled, medicare also canceled my drug prescription. That could have been disastrous to me. I got a notice eventually because SS did have have my actual address address, but I had no idea what they were talking about in the letter since I had no idea my policy had been cancelled and because the letter was rather non descript. It was actually cancelled Nov. 20 and I didn't get a letter from Medicare til later in December, I did not think it was something I thought I had to respond to right away because I didn't feel it was very specific. Is BC going to sweep this under the rug Is someone going to investigate what happened The phone number they got which wasn't mine a rep called but said either no one answered or it wasn't working. So I called the number and actually talked to someone who says she had not idea what this was all about. Had someone tried harder and called again they would have found out it was not me. I spoke to a supervisor who told me he would investigate this over the weekend and would call me Monday last. He did not. I called again and they rep said he had called me.I know he did not. I asked what number he called, and again it was the wrong number A different one but not mine and he knew what my number was. I would just like to report this to whatever agency has some control over what insurance companies do and how they operate I don't want this to happen again and I do think Insurance companies should be more transparent and more careful. I am concerned if this is a hacker someone may have more information about me. Do you have any suggestions Now my BCBS had decided to have a new policy. When I questioned why the new card I received said it was issued in 2020 but benefits were good as of Jan. 2019 but not updated to 2020 for the new card, which I thought was confusing. I was then told about the new policy that if the policy is in effect, they will not issue a new BCBS ID card every year. In that case how would someone know it there policy had been cancelled or was still in effect. In my case I got no notification because the company had a false address and phone no and made no effort to find out if it was really me who had called and said I moved and I did not get the usual new card which is why I called. The last rep I spoke to said it was a risk they and I would have to take This may not happen often, but considering how much dishonesty is in society today, it is not out of the question that it could happen to someone else or even me again. When my policy was canceled, medicare also canceled my drug prescription. That could have been disastrous to me. Do you have any suggestions Thanks for listening."

"Impossible to reach by email. System does not recognize my member ID. They refused to repay me when I went over 1000.00 in out of pocket last year and they still owe a provider."
