"Make sure you call the insurance company multi times to make sure the policy is in fact canceled or the company will withdraw money out of your bank account. Even after canceling they still took money out and it took a very long time to get the money back. Very poor customer service."

Now that my mother has paced away and there is a claim to pay , these idiots don't seem to have the ability, willingness, and setup to properly care for the clients"

"AIG hired engineers for 2 hail storms that severely damaged our roof. 2 claims were made 1 for June and the other for July 2015. The engineers examined our roof for 2 claims after the second storm. They denied both claims. All other home around us had their roofs replaced by other insurance company's. AIG paid their engineers they hire over 2,000.00 two times. AIG reported the losses as paid for claim which they reported to LexusNexsis. We have filed suit against AIG. It turns out that AIG of Florida deny's all claims with the use of their engineers and have done so for a number of years. Hundreds of suits have been filed against them . It cheaper to deny all claims rather than pay. And then wait for litigation to resolve them matter. Using their reports in order to sell our house resulted in us either getting sued for false reporting of roof damage in the sale of our home or paying the prospective new owners 15,000. for the replacement of our roof based on their hired inspector who shared the details with us and the pictures of the hail damage. The first claim still shows that it is open which has hurt us financially due to the inability to get new home owners insurance based on the 2 claims in the LexusNexsis reports as they used the more than combined cost of their engineers as a loss which looks on our credit report a payout for damages."

"Had this insurance for over 30 years for myself and son. Took a loan out for very small amount 25 years ago that did not need to be paid back. Last agent I had of many told me he had to reissue a new policy due to loan not being paid off. Since that time I've had nothing but problems. They now say my son's policy has lapsed even though I've been paying the premiums. They've also told me my premium is more than what I've been paying for over 5 years but that my old policy was paying the difference???? Every time i'm told someone will call me back no one does. Still waiting for next day call back- over a week now. Home office and local office give totally different information. "

"My worst customer service experience comes from this company. They never replay to emails. Their website does not provide all claims' information and don't work most of the time. They charged my credit card twice and when I contact them got no replay as usual. I feel like I am dealing with a ghost not a health insurance company. "

"Claims people with AIG/SunAmerica are very poorly trained except in giving me the runaround. I have tried repeatedly with no success to expedite receipt of the annuity check they say each time I call will be mailed out. I'm turning things over to my attorneys the state insurance department and the local news channel investigative team. This is a nightmare."

"We got suckered into buying two annuities and rolling one IRA into another annuity. We are waiting until July when the seven year period is up so that we can cash them in and put the money into other portfolios that don't charge such usurious fees.We showed a copy of the fees to a financial planner and the advice was to get rid of these annuities ASAP. While our other investments have come back after the recession these are lagging behind."

"We had a very bad storm season here in CO in 2009 with very high winds. Every house on the street had damage so bad that the roof needed replacement. AIG came out spent less than 40 minutes said that the roof only needed "spot repairs" and said that the damage was only worth 1800.00. Of that 1800 a thousand was our so they gave us a check for 800.00 and said there you go. Now we get a letter in the mail from them stating that they are dropping us due to the fact that we are in a "wildfire" zone. Wildfire We live inside a subdivision inside town limits Unable to contact anyone at AIG for answers. No phone or contact information on the paperwork...cowards. RUN AWAY DO NOT even think of using this company."

My father has had home care 2 separate times once for over a year with Medicare/Licensed Home Care Service companies and AIG conveniently lose the bills records etc. He has paid in since 1999 and has yet to receive one cent from AIG. He has had his current claim since March 2011 and needs 24 hour care and AIG still hasnt paid him a thing. He will be dead before he gets any money from AIG."

"I was with AIG for about 7 years. In 2009, AIG switched my auto policy to 21st Century because 21st was a subsidiary company of AIG. I never had a accident, never made a claim, always paid the premium on time during those 7 years, and yet I received a $200 increase in the half year premium from 21st. Needless to say, I jumped ship immediately and never became a customer of 21st Century."

"My daughter is in the process of buying a new car, and I called 21st insurance to get a ballpark figure of the cost to insure that vehicle. She is driving a vehicle covered under our policy. Upon learning that my daughter lives in a different area, the rep told me our insurance will cost $400.00 more a year due to statistics of accidents in the area my daughter lives. I asked about Calif laws that forbid using geographic data to determine insurance premium, the rep said they still use it as one of the factors. Either 21st insurance needs money or the rep will pocket some change if she can jack up our premium. It's quite disturbing. Btw, I check AM Best rating on 21st with negative projections, it's an A while many other insurers have A+ ratings. "

"I had an auto policy with AIG for 12 months. I just received a letter for my renewal, and the rate went up 18%. My wife and I have a perfect driving record (not just with AIG), and we never filed for a claim in the 12 months were with them. When I called to inquire as to why, they simply said that rates went up in our State. A rate increase of 18% is really high to be justified by a simple answer as such. On the spot, I canceled my policy. I signed up with Progressive, at a rate cheaper than my previous with AIG. "

"I fully believe what the others have had to say about this insurance company. They are hands down the WORST when i comes to claims processing. I have a police report and a witness to the break in of my car. As the criminals pushed my car, they ran it into the exit gate of my apt complex. The car was recovered and AIG filed this as a collision claim! With a witness and a police report, they treated me as if i was lying about the whole thing. On top of that, i cannot get a hold of my adjuster, this lady is rude as hell and prob the most ignorant employee that place has. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, KEEP LOOKING FOR INSURANCE, DONT USE AIG!!"

"I was in an accident on September 18th 2008 and here it is October 30th 2008 and my claim is in limbo. The person that hit me (this accident was not my fault) also has AIG insurance which you would think is a little easier, but AIG has done nothing but treat me like I am the one who is at fault. They lowballed the estimate on my vehicle they estimated labor at 40.00 per hour and we all know 40.00 per hour is way low for labor i asked the rep to tell me where she last saw 40.00 per hour labor and she could not tell me. I explained to AIG when I called in the claim an hour after the accident that the person who hit me was not the owner of the vehicle. I called back after 2 weeks of hearing nothing and all they can tell me is that they coudl not find the owner of the policy number on the accident report. I asked them to check the vin, make and model of the car and match it up with the policy number and they were amazed that they could find the information this way. These reps are not the brightest people. After me pressing them for payment they then said they would waive my deductible and send me the money out of my insurance and I told them I did not want to do that that the accident was not my fault and I wanted the money to come from her insurance, so they sent me the check anyway from my insurance. Now remember we both have AIG. SO I am still sitting here with no answers and they told me that I had rental on my insurance if I needed a rental car I would have to call them. I find that a little weird also because it shoudl be coming from the person's who hit me insurance not from my end. This place is a bunch of BOZOS and I will be geting away from AIG once this matter is setteled and I will be taking both my home and auto to another company I dont care if it is m ore expensive these people have no professionalism or knowledge they are too busy in Las Vegas Partying their lives away."

"AIG/Homesite are a large insurance company that focuses on collection of premiums and denial of claims. Their claims website was horrible and their response times unacceptable. When our home was damaged by a 50 year snow storm, AIG/Homesite hired so called experts to basically conclude that my roof was not built to withstand the storm therefore workmanship was the problem. I was left holding the bag and had to replace my entire roof at my cost."

You can't have regular access to a vehicle and they KNEW that my boyfriend had 3 vehicles at our address. If I would've gotten into an accident, the policy wouldn't have been valid. A few days later I got my premium that was due in February, but they hadn't mailed it until April. I got caught up. Now they've done it again. I did not get my April bill and now another letter stating I have to send them over $600 by Sept10 and my premium is going up again. We never had a problem in 20 years, but now we are older and might at sometime in the near future collect. I feel they are creating a situation so we will become so aggravted with them we would cancel the policy. We never got any benefit from paying money all those years, but they gladly took our money."

"Cancel my account with them because of price increased in my policy, they still pulled money out of my account via auto payment, to make all this worse 15 days after cancellation they send me a bill for $35.00, when i call my agent they explained to me that i was getting charge because that was money that i was supposed to paid due to a change in my insurance premium which i had cancelled anyway, so basically i was getting charge for canceling the policy and that was money that they were supposed to make if i had not cancelled my account. AIG is synonym with CROOKS. CROOKS, CROOKS "

When I called them, they were very nice until they heard I had AIG insurance. They then told me they wouldn't do the work. I told them that I was referred to them by AIG and they said that they can't ever get reimbursement from AIG and so they won't do work for them anymore! When I had a claim, I had to call relentlessly in order to get my money from them. Everytime I called and asked for the person I spoke to before, they would tell met that the person no longer worked there. No matter how much money you can save with the company, don't forget - you get what you pay for!"

"I went to a local agent in Florida, they sold me AIG auto insurance, the cost with no accidents, and 2 teenage drivers $1100 a month. This agent billed my credit card monthly and everything was fine the first 6-8 months. But then I started getting letters that my payments were behind. I thought maybe the card had not processed, or something so I called my local agent, and she told me they would look into it. Well after about 2 weeks and before it cancelled, I called the company direct (LOL yeah a nightmare too) and made the double payment on my card. Finally, the agent said that the payments were posted, and it should have been ok, but calling AIG direct, I found out it wasn't. Well the agent closed their office, and I had charges to my card but AIG didn't have them posted. I finally left AIG, and found a new company. It seems that my agent was stealing my money, and AIG wasn't getting it. Now my problem... AIG should have credited me these payments, and went after THEIR AGENT. Not drop me and pretend I was at fault. Calling AIG, their attitude was they didn't care and it is my fault."

They say thats not why it went up yet I have never had a claim in over 20 years so I went with AIG and there car ins is just as good and $20 cheaper per 6mos. And I just joined them, so give AIG a look like I did. Also AIG, I feel can save by not having all this brick and mortor stores and agents to pay, so I end up paying for ins. instead of a store and a 3pc suit, also never ever go with Allstate, them chuckleheads had me insured for 25,000/50,000 on my auto ins. until I noticed it then I fired them. And I had them Chuckleheads for 15 years and thats how much attention they put into my policy.."

My questions were never answered the way I proposed them. I never got the chance to buy back my truck (with a non drivable title)as I requested. No rental. No reimbursement for personnel property loss in the accident. NO CONTACT! I will surely tell the people I know, all about how AIG follows up and helps their insured patrons. "

"AIG sucks; that's all I can say in brief. who to blame for their financial demise? I had terrible experience dealeing with claims even if it was not my fault. It seemed that other driver's company had better interests in mind for me than my own insurance company. Customer service at occasion was rude and unhelpful! So good bye, AIG!"

"After 5 months going to doctors, labs and hospitals I found out that they were not paying anything, and never contacted me to say anything. I found out that they were not paying anything because I started getting bills from labs, and I will probably receive bills from everywhere from now on. All they asked me in my application was my name, passport number and address, that's all. Now, after 5 months, they want more information about pre-existing conditions. Pregnancy is not pre-existing condition (they know that better than me) and they cover pregnancy, it's writting in my contract. Now it's more difficult to find another insurance that will take me. They are totally irresponsable."

"Appears to be a phantom healthcare company. Claims info umbrella names and phone numbers change with virtually every contact. Unresponsive to questions and claims. Unaware of healthcare policy items. Attempt to switch underwriters without notifying customers."

"First time filing an auto claim, increased my rate $40.00 a month for 3 years. First time filing a home owners claim because a tree fell on my shed, also raising my rates. Have had them as insurers for over 20 years. Nice, huh?"

"I was in an accident. I slid on ice and totaled an my SUV. I was given an offer way below the vehicles value. I then tried to negociate with my adjuster. I was told to prove my vehicles worth by obtaining individuals selling the same vehicle with the same amount of miles in my area. Well, that is impossible when I have no transportastion and there is only one listing (Eddie Bauer Expedition 1999 150,000 mi) that I could find on the internet. She said I needed way more than that. "I originally signed up for automatic payments. They botched it because they data entered the wrong account. Then they sent me a bill for triple the amount due. I explained that it was their error. They then said that they would only take the payment that was past due, $214.00 and that 214.00 was again due by the end of the month. I received another bill for triple the amount due. They said that the individual never took out the $214.00 paymemt. I told them that I did not have $694.00. They investigated it and said that they would take me off direct payment and have me pay directly. I called in a payment of $214.00 a few days later as was agreed. I was told that I was no longer on direct payment. I just checked my checking account. THEY TOOK OUT $692.04!!! Due to this, I can't pay my mortgage. I have never worked with a more incompetant insurance company in my life!!!! I will be cancelling my coverage first thing on Monday morning!!! I will be reporting this to the Better Business Bureau!"

"The claim Reperentatives are not polite, they are ironic when they spek to you even at the very first time. They do not provide any information when you are the affected party by their insured. No costumer service whatsoever, IF any of them anwers a call, they are very irritating. "

"The claim process has been very poor. The adjuster would not return calls or emails. the value of our car was not adequate even after I provided them with sell prices on similar models on locale lots. The claim would still be open if I would not have been making the calls and email. I ended up insisting upon talking to a manager just to settle the claim. AIG did not increase their offer to match the local compariables. How they have gotten so large is the 8th wonder of the world."

"I felt AIG was not reducing my collision coverage cost to compensate for the reducing value resulting from the vehicles age. I decided to check other companies and found a better policy at 45% less with Owners Insurance Company, who focus on drivers over the age of 55. They are an A+ rated company and the local agent was very helpful. "

"AIG provided excellent service in terms of renewal notices, receiving and crediting payments, and mailing of my auto insurance documents each year. I was very satisfied with AIG until I filed a claim relating to an auto accident in January of 2007. My car was stopped in the left lane, waiting to turn left into a side street, when it was rear-ended by a big truck. The truck driver and his insurance company admitted fault and the police officer who appeared at the scene within minutes issued a traffic violation to the truck driver for causing the accident. Fault causation has never been in any doubt. In handling my claim AIG has treated me like an enemy, and not a valued client. It has been 8 months since the claim was filed and AIG still has not completed the processing of my claim. (Still waiting to be reimbursed for doctor-prescribed pain medications and my collision deductable of $200.) Can anyone blame me for cancelling my AIG auto policy? "

"Not especially quick, although for car they were, homeowners took a few days, not real liberal, by the book for coverage and did not like the replacement value option, they don't give it to you until you send them a receipt and replace it."

"I went through a terrible claims process. The adjustor was hard to get a hold of. They rarely called back. They took forever authorizing repairs to my car. I am insured by them, and my particular accident was the other driver's fault, yet I felt like a criminal when talking to them. The other driver's insurance was much more pleasant to deal with."

"I received a letter in Oct of 2005 stating my policy will lapse on Dec 1 2005 unless i send $141.62. I sent a check for said amount and it was deposited by them before the deadline. The company, American General, did not give me any information as to when another payment would be due or any other pertinate information concerning my policy. I sent an inquiry on AIG web site. Answer came ba ck that policy has lapsed and i could be reinstated if i srnd them $549.91 with no information asto what period this would cover. They will not accept a reply back unless i fill out another form. I will call their toll free number. They should have sent me a notice without me contacting them! "During the processing of a small claim, the customer service was very poor. Even though they were my insurance company, they did not seem to have my best interest in mind."

"In California, and possibly elsewhere, AIG has implemented a "Permissive User" drop-down clause which effectively lowers your policy limits to the state minimums when a person other than yourself or a family member drives the car and is involved in an auto accident. How the claim is paid is apparently up to the AIG adjustor. Customer Service representatitives describe this clause in manner that seems to contradict the written policy declaration page. Whether you can allow a licensed friend or associate to drive your car with you in it (or on a errand for you) --and be fully covered -- is unclear. Caveat Emptor!"
