Cigna Health Insurance Reviews and Customer Comments

"There is no healthcare for people over the age of 65. Got Sepsis from bad colonoscopy and was left untreated and misdiagnosed as arthritis and told I would suffer this pain the rest of my life. This was 8 months of severe swelling and pain. Refused to treat dislocated elbow because I could still move the arm. Refused any treatment for cholesterol over 300. Physical is blood pressure, oxygen test and blood tests only if you have family history. No ekg, chest xray, bone density check, etc. More interested in survey taking. Cigna must have death panel recommendations for doctors."

"Information provided is contradictory. Denial of a required radiologic procedure by Reviewing MD. Radiologic test medically indicated for removal of a internal abd. drain."

"This is the worst experience I have ever had with an insurance company. Every person with whom I spoke gave me different information. The first person with whom I spoke after calling to find out whether Cigna would reimbursement for paying for medication that required pre-authorization told me that the pre-authorization process had not been initiated the drugstore told me that it had initiated the process and offered to initiate it for me. One week later, I called and was told that the process had not been initiated. Cigna had no record of my call the week before. I asked that the claim be given priority. I was told it would be expedited. This was on a Saturday. An hour later, I received a call from Cigna advising me that my claim for pre-authorization had been denied because my doctor did not provide the requested information. I told Cigna that, of course, my doctor's office was closed on Saturday so they should call on Monday. They said it was too late for that. The coverage for the drug was denied, and I could appeal the decision. That means another long process to get a drug that my doctor says I need, and that is not even very expensive I asked for a supervisor. He got on the phone and read from a script telling me that I could file a grievance if I did not like the decision or if I disagreed with their policy of providing a response within 24 hours after an expedited request is filed. The supervisor refused to listen to me so I hung up, totally disgusted. I wish I had found the poor consumer ratings before I signed up with Cigna. They are the worst"
