"My father has this insurance and is going thru chemo, the hospital wanted to send a home nurse to remove his pump after 48hrs. He has VA as his primary and because it isnt covered thru them. This company wants to charge 500 a treatment at 12 treatments 6,000 to send someone to take the pump off. What a disgrace to a service man If you ask me thats discrimination against a retired service man on a fixed income, oh yes its a shame you can have your family drive you there while sick when a nurse could make the hour and 20minute drive to help an older man going thru this. A complete and total disgrace I am so disappointed in this company"

"Cancelled my Medicare Supplement policy effective 1-1-2017. Someone on their end failed to cancel the policy as requested and the took money from my account in January. I did not realize this until my statement came in February. I called and told them to put the money back in my account but so far they have refused. I wrote 3 letters, sent a copy of my current insurance card that they said they needed, got a letter saying that wasn't enough and I needed to send a letter officially cancelling. I sent the letter and I received another letter stating they needed a copy of my new policy on the company letterhead. Mailed them the copy and received another letter saying they would not give my money back because my new policy was not a PPO or HMO so it didn't meet their criteria. My new policy allows me to choose any Dr.Specialist I want. I have called them numerous times and have met with a brick wall every time. Now they say I should call my new insurance company and have them change my effective date to February instead of January so they don't have to refund my money. I have had enough of jumping through hoops for these people. I have filed a complaint with the Indiana Insurance Dept. and I am filing a complaint with the BBB. I am also filing a complaint with the BBB in Chicago and will probably also file a complaint with the Insurance Dept. in the State of Illinois. When I got this policy it was under 200month. The cost this year was 258month. Their increases are ridiculous."

"My mother had her policy for years passed Dec 22nd. I am the beneficiary on the policy, however my siblings I agreed that the remainder after the mortuary was paid would be give to my youngest brother. I called in Febuary because we had not received the check. Told that check was mailed Jan 18th cashed on Jan 27th. They said they would send a front back of the check so that I could file a police report I should have the copy in 7-10 days. Contacted them again on Mar 31st because copy never arrived, after speaking to three people being disconnected I was told that the first request was not sent to the correct person. It was supposedly sent to the right person a copy would arrive in 7-10 days. It is now May 1st still no copy. My next call is to the insurance commission"

"We have been dealing with these people since May 2nd... >It is now October 3rd and they still have not sent the checks to the beneficiaries. All documents have been submitted...socials, death certificate of deceased and death certificate of deceased beneficiary... every time you call someone you get a different story... we hope the President of this company is getting fat and rich and sleeps at night...."

"I reported one of their agents to our state insurance board, and eventually received money due to me paid by extending my insurance coverage for several months, but it took a very long time and they never admitted blame. "

"I am a new member of Colonial Penn. My 1st premium was paid with a live check on 5/16 and authorized subsequent payments to be automatic deductions from my checking account beginning in the following month of June. I checked my online statement and found Colonial Penn had deducted 2 premium payments in June. They stated this was done because my coverage actually started on 4/16. My understanding was that coverage started on the date of approval and receipt of 1st payment. I find it strange that I was covered even though they had not received any payment. They alleged the company had a right to reconcile by taking 2 deductions even though the June payment would not have been due until 6/16. This to me seems illegal as my authorization was for a single 'monthly' deduction. Needless to say I cancelled future automatic deductions. Further I should have checked the customer satisfaction reviews. I would not have selected this company."

"I think these people are talking about Colonial Life not Colonial Penn i have a great agent and have never had any issues. Plus they don't even have disability policies. I have a supplement and long term care. I asked my agent about the disability policy for my husband but they don't have it so i went to Aflack. "

"It looks like ppl are mixing up colonial penn with colonial life...two different companies. Colonial life offers short term disability and life insurance. Colonial penn is strictly life insurance. Colonial penn offers several types of insurance- guaranteed no questions and underwritten health questions. "

"Incompetent in billing dept and in taking payments over the phone and managers FAIL to hold their incompetent agents responsible for their FAILURE to take payments correctly and applying payments correnctly. I do not know if they know how to hire competent people who can UNDERSTAND the concept of servicing the customer correctly. The KEY IS to understand CORRECTLY "

"The customer service is horrible-the calls go to India the sing-song way of talking is really not very professional most do not know how to spell and it feels like they dont understand what you are saying nor do they care. Hopefully no one will ever choose Colonial Penn as an insurance company."

"They give you the runaround and it seems do whatever they can do not to pay youyou do not receive 50 dollars a day like they claim you will get for short term disability"

"My parents received a call from a marketing agent for Colonial Penn. The application was filled over the phone. Upon my mothers passing they found every reason to deny the claim. Her death certificate stated natural causes. I will file a complaint against them and seek legal remedy. They prey on the elderly and are fradulant in their claims handling. I found them to be very unprofessional. It took them months before they denied the claim. Although my father sent them proper medical authorizations to secure medical records they had my elderly father do all their foot work for them. He had to secure all the medical records on my mother for them. All their adjuster do is deny claims. No claims work whatsoever."

"Had this life policy for a little over a year for my mother. She passed away in June and I files the claim with the company. Three months later I am notified that the claim has been denied due to the fact that my mother used a walker occasionally when her knee pain flared up. They said that the policy would have never been approved if they knew she used the walker. Why do they advertise guaranteed acceptance ? I need to pursue legal action!"

"If you are dealing with a living will and need to cash out accounts in order to receive N.J. medicade look out. Complete runaround get this it takes 24 to 48 hrs just to see if your faxes have arrived. Not to mention all the time spent on the phone telling your story to every rep in the company and still no progress. Only in America!!!! "

"I have tried to cancel my policy for over 6 months and keep getting the run around! The agents I speak with say they will mail out a form and will arrive in 5-7 business days and it NEVER comes. Then I call again and they say the same thing. Finally, spoke with a supervisor and she gave me a fax number and for me to fax a letter stating I wish to cancel. All previous agents never gave me this option...very frustrating....will never recommend this company!"

"I was recently diagnosed with a disease and needed to take 3 month off for short term disability per two dr.s. I was denied the short term disability and therefore being forced to return to work before I am able. "

"I currently have a short term disability policy with Colonial. They are extremely slow in processing their claims and make it very difficult to collect. They ask for more and more medical information and each time they want more info, it takes another two weeks to process. They conveniently forget that the reason you have the policy in the first place is because you are unable to work and need the income. Better have a good stash of surplus money to get you by because you could go broke waiting for them to produce. Fortunately for me, I also have a policy with AFLAC. I cannot say enough good things about them. AFLAC knows how to treat their customers and are quick to make their payments. Forget Colonial. As soon as I get my money I will cancel the policy."

"i have a life ins po on my husband and he died but they found every excuse they could not to pay me i will fight it with every ounce of energy i have because they are being fraudulant"
