"They will not pay your claims that you send in .they always come up with a excuse not to pay we have payed insurance since 2007. When I sent in a claim they always comes up with a excuse not to pay I am going to have to hire a attorney to get my money they owe me .there should be a law that they have to pay the person the money they owe them so they don't have to get a attorney. This insurance company should be closed down and everybody get there money back that they payed in.look at all the reviews all are negative."

"My wife has breast cancer and had two operations for removable of cancer. The breast cancer was positive and the second operation was negative. Both procedures wereday surgery. Total of 45.000 thousand The policy has paid 1.900. My wife was a teacher and had policy for 22 years. I called about 6 month before and talked to a man about not paying anymore because we has Med. Care. He said that we would be paid instead of the hospital and doctors. We paid another year. She has cancer now and all they pay is peanuts to the cost of procedures. If they were up front with everybody and showed what would be paid nobody would buy it"

"I ask for a up front full payment policy and was told that is what I was buying. When it was delivered it was not what I was told I was buying. About 5 years later and after much communications back and forth A vice president wrote me a letter stating if I would pay another 300 dollars there would never be more premiums or money required and it was a paid up policy. About 15 years latter I get a letter from conseco stating I now had three choices for my policy 1. began making about 5000 annual payments 2. let the policy consume itself in about 3 years. 3. take a cash settlement which was only about 1/4 the value of the policy. I could only take the 3 rd choice. I have tried about 5 years to get them to honor their word and all I get is "case closed" This company is willing to lie and steal. DO NOT TRUST THEM FOR ANYTHING"

"Took out a life insurance policy in 1986 28 yrs agofor the amount of 25000. Today it is worth 22389.and I'm still making premium payment every 3 months. Today I called and asked how long I have to continue these payment and they told me until 2045. At that rate I will be 95 years old when it is mature. There is really something wrong here.I really don't remember this being said to me when I took out this policy. This is a bad company."

"Paying on a life policy for many years amounting to 132000 in premiums over this period at a monthly premium of1200.Conseco now raises the premium to 2129.00/mos which I cannot afford and will have to cancel the policy which plays right into their plan. Why is it that the Indiana Department of Insurance let Conseco get away with this underhanded business???"

"My father died from cancer and had Consecos cancer policy getting them to pay for anything is insane. He paid on this policy for over 20 yrs he had cancer for 3 and I have received very little reimbursement. Currently I am fighting them on the benefit claim because the death certificate said he died of organ failure due to cancer not just cancer. Are you kidding me do not do business with this company"

"Devious free updating of policy years ago. Now that I have been paying premiums for 20 years and the policy is due to mature in a few months I discover the maturation date has been extended to 20 years from the time of the update rather than the sign-up date. This was never explained to me at the time and I am beyond frustrated at the prospect of paying premiums to this / blankity-blank company a few more years in order to receive my promised refund. Aaarrrggghhh"

"I have had the cancer policy for over 20 years before it was conseco. I have never filed a claim. I have always paid 229 every six months. I was surprised when I received my new bill of 458 per six month. This indicates a double in the price just when I turned 65. I was told the raise in cost was due to higher medical cost. I repeat I have never filed a claim thank God I am very healthy. There is no way I can afford almost 1000 I live on a fixed income."

"I have all three of conseco plans. I have the cancerheart and the accident. I have used the accident for a broken foot and received over two thousand dollars for it. The claims process was very simple. To all those who say it is impossible to get a claim filled call your agent who left you their business card or look at your policy that was mailed to you for a name and a agent number on the application they are going to make your claims process much easier. I sent in the claim and received compensation within two weeks. I am very happy with the company and will do business with them for many more years. "

"Contact with the company was fruitless. Maturity date for the policy has come and gone, but "they" tell me the date is extended, 10 years to 15 years, 15 to now 20 years, and refuse to even provide a letter or doucmentation of the conversations with me. I read a report that this company refuses to pay until the patient dies, and cannot collect."

"Had this cancer policy with Conseco since 1985(Transport Life at the time). Have had a very difficult time with every claim. Have hired attorney twice to get paid. Thats expensive. They owe me over $6,000.00 now for blood transfusions and are refusing to pay. I am forced to wait till the amount they owe me will offset the cost of an attorney."

"I have a cancer policy with premiums returned after 20 years. At 10 years, I was told by the agent that I could "upgrade" my policy to include intensive care and it would not affect my 2012 date for premium reimbursement. I found out last year that when I added the upgrade I started the 20 year cycle over. I do get the premiums for the first 10 years (not counting on it), but I will have to stay with the company till 2022 to receive my other 10 years, plus the additional 10 years of premiums with the "upgraded policy". I called the company and complained that this was not what the agent told me and no where was this stated in the contract. Calls to Conseco resulted in the comment that they could not be held accountable for what their agents told customers. I talked with everyone they would put on the phone and basically told I was out of luck. I have a feeling that the company makes a practice of this deception in hopes that the the person continues with their company so as not to lose many years of premium payments. Wonder what would happen if I missed a premium payment? Recently I received a letter saying that Conseco will no longer be carrying my cancer policy and that another group will be taking over. Will I again have to start over? I sincerely hope that I never have to file a claim with Conseco or the other group that now has my policy. I am in the process of filing a complaint with the state of Virgina Insurance Bureau about Conseco and their unethical practices. If an agent approaches you to buy anything from Conseco, run as fast as you can in the other direction."

"Conseco is the biggest rip off of a company I have ever dealt with. They have found some excuse to pay nothing on every claim I have submitted to them for breast cancer. I started this process in Oct. 2010 and here we are with no claim checks yet in February, 2011. Taking out a policy with them has been one of the biggest diappointments of my life."

"This company is a joke. I have sent 53 claim forms and statements to them in the last 3 months. I am very upset with not only the cutomer service overseas cheap labor non english speaking people, but the supervisors and 'esculations' department. Real quick to take your money and every excuse to not pay you. A lot of bad information causing claims to not be processed and then waiting until its 15 days later to tell you. Overall, they are a nightmare for me. I am so sick of dealing with them. Not recomended for anyone."

"My wife and I purchased a cancer insurance policy from Capital, a company later purchased by Conseco. The policy is supposed to pay back the total premium amount after a given period of time - less any claims on the policy. An agent called on us, about 7 years after taking out the policy, and suggested "upgrading" the policy for a few dolllars more to get ICU coverage. What the agent did not tell us was that this was actually a policy extension that would have to be kept in effect 6 more years to get the promised payback. Nothing in our agent copy mentioned a new extension date. A complaint has been filed with the Indiana State Insurance Commission. Conseco is an untrustworthy outfit. If you have a cancer policy from Conseco - be very wary."

"My husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2009. The first claim I sent in they responded very quickly and we were very excited then they got slower! At christmas we received a bill for $1850 saying they over paid us and wanted payment ASAP! Okay, cancer, christmas, going to hospital in Dallas every other week for chemo, sure let me just write you a check! We did pay it after they took it out of the next claim! Now, they continually ask for the same paperwork we have been already giving them and they are denying it!!! I Pray that the people that run this company never have to go thru what we go thru on a daily basis much less have to continually fight with cancer insurance people!!! We are broke and going to dallas everyday(over 3hrs. away) for an hr. worth of chemo!!! Thank you Conseco for making my husband stress even more than the fact that he is losing his battle!!! "

"they were very pushy and would not let me take the policy home to talk it over with my husband. Saying that I had to do it that day. They said it would pay all types of things, but in fine print you have to work at least 27hrs wkly. I work only 20, so I would not meet their terms at all. So I called to cancel and they would not answer, or return my call. Regional manager lied straight to my face. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!!"

"It appears the company uses every manuver to avoid paying valid claims. Customer service is very poor. They are requiring a document (UB04) for my claim that is not available to the patient/policy holder and are using that document (or lack of it) to avoid payment. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY."

"We have a life policy for my father. During the years of paying premiums my mother would frequently get notices that they had not received payment. Finally I took over making the payments, to be sure they went out on time. Even after a payment CLEARED MY BANK, they had no record of it. On several ocassions I had to go back through my bank records, print copies of the canelled checks and send them to the company. When my father passed away, they said 20 days to pay the claim and fax all the forms to them. I specifically asked two people on two different ocassions if a fax copy of his death certificate was okay. Both confirm YES. Well 20 days comes and goes, we call and they now say we need a certified copy of the death certificate. I send it overnight and am advised a check should be processed in three days. Of course 3 days comes and goes. We call the company and they say "the check went out in the mail". My 82 year old mother is waiting all day for a check that never comes. I call back again about a week after the 3 days have passed and have been told the check is going out today via FedEx. I ask for the FedEx tracking number and check it on the FedEx website. At the time I check there was no such tracking number. No surprise. NEVER EVER do business with this compnay if you can avoid it. They have already been levied with hefty fines for delays in paying. I plan to submit a complaint to my state insurance commissioner and in Indiana where they are located. "

"My mother has the home health care policy which was written before they changed the name to Conseco. She is now 98 and needs care. They are refusing to pay saying her provider is not eligible. Also, like others have said, they seem to want more info all the time. My mom still pays every month. They now owe her quite a bit of money. The last letter from this company said I should go to the Illinois Insurance in downtown Chicago to discuss this matter. I hope they will provide me with a lawyer."

"My spouse had a transplant as cancer surgery. They pay according to the difficulty of the surgery $135.00 being the least and $8000.00 as the most difficult. They paid $135.00 for a transplant. They must think a transplant is not very difficult. I would like to know what is difficult if this isn't."

"I have had to change my bank account information for the ACH debit about 4x since I have had this policy starting in 1992. Every single time I do that there are problems. Their systems and bookkeeping are THE WORST I have ever encountered. They're customer service people are inept and condescending. I am thoroughly disgusted with this company and have no alternative but to continue for another 3 years until my policy matures so I can get my premoum refund of $4,000. Hopefully, they will have it when the time comes. I am starting to have my doubts."

"I have a cancer income policy for many years.I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005. They paid the claims for chemotherapy in 2005 and for radiation therapy in 2006, up to the limits of the policy and I was very impressed and satisfied. However, now that we've reached the hormonal level of therapy, which is covered under the policy, they are using every delay tactic possible, and now wish to know if my cancer is "active". I have answered every question they've delayed the process with, have called on a weekly basis as they are now 6 mos. of claims in arrears, and keep getting the "canned" responses from their offshore claims dept. I understand from the internet that their senior health care policies have been transferred to a trust as of Dec. 2008, and that funds will most likely not cover claims. I have had no correspondence from the company which is insult to injury. I plan to continue to fight this as I feel I am getting ripped off and am especially concerned for all those who are not able to fight for their rights."

"Do not buy any insurance from this company. I have had a policy since 1988. Now I am filing a claim and have had constant frustration over the whole process. The claims dept relies on confusion in hopes that you will give up on the claim. Every time you call to inquire about your claim status, they will tell you different information about your claim. There is no way to collect on a claim because they never complete the process. They just keep putting you off in hopes that you will give up. The consumer call center is in another country. They are impossible to understand with their heavy accents. You can never talk to a person in the US or at the headquarters. They have better security than the pope has. You will never get a straight answer or collect on your claims. NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. It would be better to just burn your money because it would be less frustrating."
