"My first issue is when signing up my agent told me that since I didn't have a credit history my rate would be the higher rate for a few months until they had established that I made reliable payments, at which point he would lower it for me. This never happened, and when I called to check in, I was assigned a new agent who told me that wasn't possible. Eventually, I found a MUCH cheaper rate through another provider and switched to them last month. I called and canceled my policy with Country. They confirmed this and told me a check with my balance would be mailed within a few days. I never received the check and in fact was billed AGAIN the following month. Messages left with my agent were not responded to. I called customer service and they had on record that I had canceled, but the local agent did not process it. They back-cancelled the policy again and my request for an e-mail confirmation was a process that took 20 minutes over the phone. Hopefully my policy will be canceled this time, and hopefully I will receive my refund, however, my faith in this company is EXTREMELY low. Best to stay away and do business with a company that does not have such a dishonest, scammy attitude."

"This company will not be there for you if you need them If you are unfortunate enough to have a claim they will delay and deny and practice deceit to avoid accurately paying legitimate claims. Still waiting to be treated honestly almost 3 months after major tree damage to my house - they will not work with my contractor refuse to look deeper into obvious signs of hidden structural damage and are simply trying their best to rip us off. Avoid"

"We had hail in our area twice in 1 year. I filed for the first one and they denied. There was visible damage done to the roof and the wood on patio. They were terribly rude and sent "engineers" out to back their story up. Any area that had hail damage they would not comment or inspect. I should also say that in my neighborhood block there were 7 homes approved for hail damage with different insurance companies. Somewhere around 100 homes approved in my neighborhood. I called them out for the 2nd storm and same thing. I have my home and 4 cars insured with Country and I will be switching. Stay away fron these people "

"They have average rates do not know about claims as I have never had a claim. My only gripe is I have to spend to be a member of the farm bureau it is an added cost that puts them in a higher total cost of insurance. I do not have anything to do with farming so why the extra cost Best to just get insurance for an insurance company that does not require extra money for something you do not use. Got a quote from farmers that was less and guess what even with the name farmers no membership required. "

"I had a house fire and more recently storm damage. They approached both claims with seeing how little they could pay. Right now the contractor who replaced my roof and who cut the trees off my house is having to negotiate on what the insurance will pay with regard to cutting the trees off the house. The contractor paid a subcontractor to cut the trees off the house and now is not able to recover their expenses. I keep having to apologize for my insurance company."

"It took them over 2 weeks to send an adjuster out to look at the damage. The only excuse that I heard was they are very busy and do not have the staff to handle the claims that come in. Very frustrating to say the least. Very rude claims representatives."

"Not the least expensive company but, my rep came out to introduce himself face to face and ask me questions to create a quote proposal based on my needs. When I went to Allstate and Farmers all they cared about was quoting my insurance apples to apples with Country with no signs of caring about me and my family. I know if I ever have a claim my rep will be there for me. "

"Country was a great company until we had a total loss house fire on 10/25/08. We have been treated like liars and theives. We have been made to feel as if we caused the fire. Over two years and thousands of dollars in attorney fees we are still fighting this company. We hired our attorney too late because we felt we did not need one if we did everything the company told us to do. BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!!!"

"Cost more than other major insurers, however having peace of mind that the insurer will pay and be fair is worth the extra % expense."

"After being with another insurance company for 25 years, I switched to Country Insurance. After one month with them I had a car accident that totaled my car. The same day that I had the accident, my rental was ready, and the car was appraised. I was reinbursed for my car in a very short time. I was suprised with the speed and coutesy and follow up that was done . I would like to thanks everyone who worked on this for me. "

"Very happy with this insurance company. I have used tham for over 30 years and my family used them for many years before I did. I have had a half-dozen claims with them over the years and they have always handled my claims very well."

"I am very unsatisfied with insurance company. I had two accidents, one in 2008 and one in 2009. In 2010 insurance refuse renewal of my policy. Both accidents are not serious with couple scratches. Both were a little bit over $1000 total with my deduction of $500. We had a perfect history of 7.5 years with Country insurance, covering home and 4 cars most of the time. We went over couple unreasonable rates increases as well. I am very disappointed! I canceled my account with company. "

"following an accident in july the company says i wasnt insured upon checking discovered that they had edited the cards to read the right vehicle make but wrong vin turned them into the insurance commission and still 9 months later still running a hassle with these bozos. their answer to the wrong vin is "that doesent matter" STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS AT ALL COST i wouldnt insure my broken tricycle with them. if you have insurance with them i suggest you find another company fast and in the meantime check all your important policy numbers just in case. this company is best for its weasel like ways."

"Nothing but headaches with them. They make you buy a membership to the Cook County Farm Bureau just to have insurance. Cancelled my insurance without contacting me because my wife forgot to pay the farm dues"

" Only helpful when it comes to making your payment ,always a bogus reason why they CANT pay my claim , always quick to have you call the 1- 800 number than to handle the claim themselves .I suspect my agent of not paying my premiums -but i guess i find that out when i am in jail for no coverage ! they are all crooks but what can you do . "

"After repeated calls to my agent, asking for a return call to discuss my policy, he never called me back. I then called and asked to speak with his supervisor. Neither called me back. I left a message stating that I did not plan to renew my coverage unless he called before the premium due date. He never called. He then sent me a bill two months later for a premium after I had cancelled the policy and sent it to collections. I had been a loyal customer for years and had a terrific agent when I starte with this company. It has really gone down hill, which is very unfortunate. "

"Too many beginner agents and a revolving door of agents. They seem to bring on brand new people who only last a few years and leave. Something must be wrong in their business model that agents cannot succeed there and go elsewhere."

"They send out bills- I pay them and they send refund checks- and then send out another bill a week later! There is seldom any one in the local office- the office in the next town gets huffy if you try to deal with them and they are slow to call back. Country is without a doubt the absolute worse insurance company I have ever dealt with in the 30-some odd years I have been insured. "

"A huge old tree fell on my house & smashed the second floor through the first. The settlement was for $50K, not totaled as my contractor & the structural engineer THEY hired stated based on repairs & code upgrades. The large claims adjuster actually went to city planning department, filed for an emergency repairs permit in my name, signed his name under my name & the contractors' printed name without our knowledge, never told us, & disappeared. So a month later, Country called & asked how repairs were going?! We were still waiting to hear what was going on. I got a loan for an additional $150K to cover the repairs & am now consulting lawyers."

"Country Insurance has used every stall tactic in the book to not pay my claim. This all started with my basement flooding due to a sump pump failure. They suggested that I have a co. come out and do a clean up they provided this guy he was at my house the next morning, great service guess again this guy charged 2100.00 to clean carpet that cost me 1200.00 to have installed new. I wonder how much of a kickback the adjuster got for that? Then there is the damage to the outside of the house from hail and high winds. When they realized that they would have to replace all of it because it is no longer in production they then tried to claim I did not have the work done from a previous claim after I supplied them with the paid receipt. Country Insurance has doubled my rates in the last 4 years now they are playing games when it is time to pay. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere."

"The extra you pay in commissions are not worth it! There were extenuating circumstances that prompted me to go shopping and not renew with Country Insurance. Went with another provider and increased my coverage along with saving roughly 40% on auto and 10% on home. "

"I was injured in a accident by a country insurance driver who took 100% fault, as well as the Police ticket him. Country adjuster was on my voice mail before I was out of trauma center. I returned his a few days later after he keeped calling wanting interview. After my interview he would not return a calls. We end up go to trial there poor customer got slapped with a judgement of $425,000. He was only insured for $250,000. We were only asking for $250,000 to start out with. Now my lawyer is making there customer sell his home. I learned that insurance companies do not work for there customer. This guy also learned this the hard way"

"I am a country insurance customer and I have been for a year. no claim, nothing changed what so ever in my life and home. The price of my homeowner was increased by over 100$ by a less than honest rep. when called, no reason. On top of that I got referred by a service to guess who? same office, same company , just another rep in the same office and guess what? when he quotes me he gives me the same rate that I used to have with the same office before the rep raised the amount. This is a less than honest practice. Shame on your company for such practice. I just signed up with Liberty Mutual"

"I am not a customer of Country insurance but I recently was involved in an accident with one of their clients. I was rear ended and whenthe insurance contacted me so quickly, the same morning the accident happened, I was quiet impressed. But as things progressed with the claim I became less and less impressed by them. The adjuster came and evaluated my 2001 Lexus and I received a check in the mail a few days later, a measley $511.46. I was told by the personal injury adjuster that me and daughtet would only be compensated for the doctor bills and nothing for the pain suffering we indured. No rental car reimbursement, nothing. Needless to say I have since contacted an attorney. "

"The entire process front to back has been positive. We filed one claim which was my wife hitting a concrete post. The adjuster was out within a day or two (drove to my work )and cut us a check right there (he had a check printer in his truck). Incredible! Yes our rates went up a little, but my wife should have been paying more attention. "

"I called Country about some hail damage we had because their web site says they won't come and look with out opening a claim so I did....That night we were hit with a tornado...The adjuster said he would cover the roof under the hail and everything else under the tornado...Of course they would because that means 2 deductibles for me to pay ...I have fwrd all the documentation I had to the county pros. attorneys office along with 2 bids saying the roof needed replaced because of the tornado and over 100 mph winds not because of hail...The adjuster didn't even see my roof before the tornado so for them to say it was because of the hail and no way because of the tornado when the whole neighbor hood had roofs replaced because of the tornado it COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS!!! "

"We had country ins for about five years. We had bought our second rental home and decided we better get some life ins on both of us to insure we did not get into a bind. In short we waited eight months and still had no answer for the ins. on my husand. The agent nor the company were of any help to figure out what was going on. The agent finally requested our ins co. do a test on my husband. I felt we getting no where. I dumped them. We have checked with other companys since and have been 100% more satisfied with our result. Every ins co. we have consulted has done a much better job. We found out right away what the concern was and have since resolved it. I would not recemmend county to anyone. I would recemmend people stay away from them. They handled us very poorly."

"When I found out I was paying more for premiums and getting less for coverage, I knew I was getting SCREWED. Then to top it off, they make you join the FARM BUREAU. Why? Next, I research the company and find out the agent is donating to the RNC! My premiums going to those criminals, hell no. Good bye Country. Take your money elsewhere but don't give it to some REPUBLICAN crooks."

"We own a Company and have all of our cars, homeowners, and company ins. though them, only one claim on the company, several on the cars as my teenagers were groing up, none on our homeowners untill we got hit by a tornado and the center of the maple tree fell on my roof. We have had this insurance for over 30 years and this is the first big claim, my house is still under a tarp three months later. They are ignoring our calls and the calls from our contractor. I'm just so frustrsted right now, I need to know where to go or who to contact to get just what I deserve from my insurace co. that I have been paying for 30 years. I went to one website and they wanted $25.00 to fill a claim. OK, not that much, but are you kidding me, not only am I getting ripped off by my insurace co.,but I have to pay to fill a complaint! I don't know if this will do any good, but I appreciate venting to someone that dose'nt charge."

"HAD BEEN WITH COUNTRY INSURANCE FOR 10 YEARS AND ONLY AFTER LOOKING ELSEWHERE DID OUR AGENT FINALLY GET BACK TO US. WITH A LOWER RATE. WITH THEIR KEEPER POLICY YOU MAY HAVE TO FIGHT TO GET THEM TO HONOR IT. I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT THAT TOTALED MY CAR AND THEY WANTED TO REPAIR IT TO THE TUNE OF $17,500 INSTEAD OF TOTALING IT AND HONORING THEIR COMMITMENT. I HAD TO FIGHT FOR 4 MONTHS TO MAKE THEM HONOR IT."
